Around Thy Table, Holy Lord
Around Thy table, holy Lord,
In fellowship we meet,
Obedient to Thy gracious word,
This feast of love to eat.
Here every one that loves Thy name,
Our willing hearts embrace;
Our source of life and hope the same,
All debtors to Thy grace.
Commune with each at this blest hour,
Thy peace, Thy joy impart;
Thy thoughts of love, of truth, of pow’r,
Impress upon each heart.

5 And fthe heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord;
Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints.
6 gFor who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord?
7 hGod is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints,
And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.

The Fruit of the Spirit
https://aboutthesethings.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/ash_grove.mp3The fruit of the Spirit is love for our sharing,
It’s joy in the gospel that we have from you.
It’s peace that we live out with courage and daring;
It’s patience, for we know that we have sinned, too.
It’s kindness in all things and generous giving;
Its faithfulness seeking to follow your way.
It’s gentleness, Lord, and it’s self-controlled living;
Now make us more fruitful in these things, we pray.

They looked unto him and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

**The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel–
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive
Well-honeyed, hums,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.**

I recently attended a ladies fellowship meeting focusing on the life of Esther. The speaker encouraged us to have the bravery of Esther, to surround ourselves with praying friends and to live trusting that God is always working behind the scenes. I thought this old hymn went well with that thought.
God Moves in a Mysterious Way
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform:
He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill,
He treasures up His bright designs,
And works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour:
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

your salvation among all nations.
3 May the peoples praise you, God;

4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples with equity
and guide the nations of the earth.
5 May the peoples praise you, God;

In the Secret of His Presence
In the secret of His presence
How my soul delights to hide!
Oh, how precious are the lessons
Which I learn at Jesus’ side!
Earthly cares can never vex me,
Neither trials lay me low;
For when Satan comes to tempt me,
To the secret place I go.
When my soul is faint and thirsty,
’Neath the shadow of His wing
There is cool and pleasant shelter,
And a fresh and crystal spring;
And my Savior rests beside me,
As we hold communion sweet;
If I tried, I could not utter
What He says when thus we meet.
Only this I know: I tell Him
All my doubts and griefs and fears;
Oh, how patiently He listens!
And my drooping soul He cheers;
Do you think He ne’er reproves me?
What a false friend He would be,
If He never, never told me
Of the sins which He must see.
Would you like to know that sweetness
Of the secret of the Lord?
Go and hide beneath His shadow;
This shall then be your reward;
And whene’er you leave the silence
Of that happy meeting-place,
By the Spirit bear the image
Of the Master in your face.

Our Times Are in Thy Hand
Our times are in Thy hand;
O God, we wish them there;
Our lives, our souls, our all, we leave
Entirely to Thy care.
Our times are in Thy hand:
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.
Our times are in Thy hand;
Why should we doubt or fear?
A father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
Our times are in Thy hand;
Jesus, the Crucified,
Whose hand our many sins have pierced,
Is now our guard and guide.
Our times are in Thy hand;
We’ll always trust to Thee,
Till we possess the promised crown,
And all Thy glory see.

Fairest Lord Jesus
Fairest Lord Jesus!
Ruler of all nature!
O Thou of God and man the Son!
Thee will I cherish,
Thee will I honor,
Thou, my soul’s glory, joy, and crown!
Fair are the meadows
Fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring;
Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing!
Fair is the sunshine,
Fairer still the moonlight,
And all the twinkling starry host;
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels heav’n can boast!
All fairest beauty,
Heavenly and earthly,
Wondrously, Jesus, is found in Thee;
None can be nearer,
Fairer, or dearer,
Than Thou my Savior art to me.

Today we are excited to shine the spotlight on multipublished author Jodie Wolfe and her latest Christian romance novel, Convincing Lou. Hot off the press from Pelican Book Group!
Jodie Wolfe creates novels where hope and quirky meet. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), and Faith, Hope, & Love Christian Writers (FHLCW). She’s been a semi-finalist and finalist in various writing contests. A former columnist for Home School Enrichment magazine, her articles can be found online at: Crosswalk, Christian Devotions, and Heirloom Audio. When not writing she enjoys spending time with her husband in Pennsylvania, reading, knitting, and walking. Learn more at http://www.jodiewolfe.com.
How hard can it be to round up one delinquent groom?
Ellie Lou Williams will do just about anything to save her ranch, even going undercover as a man to round up a fella who is late to his own wedding. The reward will more than cover the money she owes the bank and solve all her problems.
Caleb Martin agrees to one final job as a deputy US Marshal before he starts his new life away from the trail and tracking criminals. What he isn’t counting on is a mysterious bounty hunter who’s determined to undermine his every step.
Will one reach their goal first? Or will they learn to lean on God and work together?
Jean’s Review:
This lovely historical romance is filled with danger and adventure from the start. I could not stop reading to see what would happen next as Ellie Lou and Caleb faced threats in the form of an unexpected blizzard, physical injuries, and a dangerous outlaw. Their relationship grew and strengthened as together they faced the obstacles life threw at them. But more than just the story of a beautiful romance, it is the themes of faith and trusting God when He seems silent that make this story so very special. Convincing Lou is a wonderful reminder that God has a purpose for the hard times we face, and He never leaves His children to walk through the storms alone.
Though this story was the fourth in Jodie Wolfe’s Burrton Springs Brides series, it was complete as a standalone novel. I can’t wait to go back and read the other girls’ stories!

I stopped to try and get a photo of some lovely swans swimming in the pond. This little duck swam right over to where I was, got out of the water, and looked at me as if to say, “Well?” I’m sure he was hoping for some bread or other kind of treat. I felt bad to disappoint him!

I had some time to kill before and appointment last week so thought I would visit a lovely city park. It was a nice little slice of heaven right here on earth with its shady trees, ponds, and lots of waterfowl including my favorite– swans. I have a fascination with gazebos and this one was so pretty! It was such a peaceful experience that I thought I would share my photos with you this week. I hope you enjoy them.

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
To all life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee.
Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render, O help us to see:
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee.
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

I like to make at least one batch of sun pickles each summer. There’s something so satisfying about making your own food (with a little help from the sun!) I decided to cut the salt in half this time and was hoping it wouldn’t make for bland pickles. I was happy that this year’s batch was particularly yummy! I’m including the recipe in case you want to try your hand. Let us know if you do!

In God’s Green Pastures Feeding
In God’s green pastures feeding by His cool waters lie;

Fare so wondrously fine; His sheep am I.

Sisters: Step by step…
Brothers: Step by step.
Everyone: My Lord and I.

His sheep am I.

I Hunger and I Thirst
| | |
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be;
Ye living waters, burst
Out of the rock for me.
Thou bruised and broken Bread,
My lifelong wants supply;
As living souls are fed,
O feed me, or I die.
Thou true life-giving Vine,
Let me Thy sweetness prove;
Renew my life with Thine,
Refresh my soul with love.
For still the desert lies
My thirsting soul before;
O living waters, rise
Within me evermore.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicled 7:14

If My people’s hearts are humbled, if they pray and seek My face;
If they turn away from evil, I will not withhold My grace.
I will hear their prayers from heaven; I will pardon every sin.
If My people’s hearts are humbled, I will surely heal their land.
Then My eyes will see their sorrow, then My ears will hear their plea;

All Praise To Our Redeeming Lord
All praise to our redeeming Lord,
Who joins us by His grace,
And bids us, each to each restored,
Together seek His face,
Together seek His face.
He bids us build each other up;
And, gathered into one,
To our high calling’s glorious hope,
We hand in hand go on,
We hand in hand go on.
The gift which He on one bestows,
We all delight to prove;
The grace through every vessel flows,
In purest streams of love,
In purest streams of love.
We all partake the joy of one;
The common peace we feel;
A peace to worldly minds unknown,
A joy unspeakable,
A joy unspeakable.
And if our fellowship below
In Christ yet be so sweet,
What height of rapture shall we know,
When round His throne we meet,
When round His throne we meet!

People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. Matthew 10: 13-16
Jesus Loves the Little Children
Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red, brown, yellow, black and white,
All are precious in His sight,

Today we are excited to shine the spotlight on author Kristi Neace and her book of devotionals, Pathlight to Praise, hot off the press from Pelican Book Group!
Christians often speak of giving God praise for this or that, but for a person new to the faith or even a seasoned believer longing for encouragement during personal struggles, praise can seem like an overwhelming even unattainable task.
Yet, in the very last verse of Psalms we read, “…everything that has breath praise the LORD (Ps. 150:6).” Why? Because He is worthy!
Within the pages of this book, you will find 150 days’ worth of devotions filled with God’s unending love and care for His children. Though the various psalmists experienced fears, temptations, and strong emotions such as anger and betrayal, God proved that there is always something to be thankful for. He is forever worthy of our praise!
Jean’s Review:
I found this book of devotionals to be a wonderful tool to accompany me on my journey through the Psalms. Kristi Neace has a lovely and insightful way of digging out the truths, both simple and complex, in these beloved Old Testament songs and making them applicable to modern day life. She utilizes personal experiences and observations and thought provoking questions to make the reader really think about what they are reading. Pathlight to Praise is not a one-time read, but a resource I will turn to again and again as often as I return to the book of Psalms.

On this special day we wish all the Father’s out there a Happy Father’s Day. We would like to dedicate today’s post to our Heavenly Father who gave a great gift to us all through His beloved Son’s work on the cross. May the cross and what it represents bring you peace that knows no measure and shed light and love upon your way.
In the Cross of Christ I Glory
In the cross of Christ I glory,
Tow’ring o’er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.
When the woes of life o’ertake me,
Hopes deceive, and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me,
Lo! It glows with peace and joy.
When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming
Adds more luster to the day.
Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.

Great is the Lord
My heart is full
Of fabulous praise
My mind overflows
With His mighty deeds
He met me where I was
A sinner in need of saving
He meets me where I am
Carries me when I falter
My life needs You
The world needs You
My heart sings
Great is my Lord.

He Hideth My Soul
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.
Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.
Refrain
With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And, filled with His fulness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God,
For such a Redeemer as mine!
Refrain
When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

When we stand with tears of anguish coursing down our cheeks,
We search for elusive answers, long to hear our Father speak.
But when the tears are dry, our souls have been washed clean;
We understand the power of the unremitting stream.
Tears that fall unbidden trace the path of where we’ve been
To mark the heartaches evermore, as an oft-recurring dream.
But when our souls have been renewed and cleansed of blinding fraud,
Pretense and masks are washed away . . . We’re ready to seek God.
The One who made our salty tears is the One to whom we cry;
Amidst our glistening dewdrops, He bids us to draw nigh,
And ere the silver stream is stayed and tears have ceased to flow,
His nail-pierced hand is reaching out to lead where e’er we go.
Thank God for tears . . . they help us see beyond all earthly fear;
He reaches down to ease our pain and wipe away each tear.
Messengers of God are they to lead us to His throne;
As tears fall down, He gathers them, so we know we’re not alone.
He places them in His bottle and holds them in His heart.
He’s there through all our suffering, each teardrop, every part.
Our tears are precious to our Lord, bright treasures He holds dear.
Through them, He speaks with healing words . . . with listening hearts, we hear.
You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.

O My Savior, Glorified
O my Savior, glorified!
Now the heavens, opened wide,
Show to faith’s exultant eye
One in beauteous majesty.
Worthy of the sweetest praise
That my ransomed heart can raise,
Is that Man in whom alone
God Himself is fully known.
For those clust’ring glories prove
That glad gospel, “God is Love,”
Whilst those wounds, in glory bright.
Voice the solemn, “God is Light.”
Hark, my soul! thy Savior sings;
Catch the joy that music brings,
And, with that sweet flood of song,
Pour thy whisp’ring praise along.
O my Savior, glorified,
Turn my eye from all beside,
Let me but Thy beauty see,
Other light is dark to me.

This simple Old Testament verse reminds me that even in hard seasons, God is sovereign and to be praised…
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Instead our usual Sunday hymn we decided to repost this responsive reading we used several years ago in honor of Memorial Day. We hope you will click the link and let the background music play as you read the words of this meditation. May God Bless ALL who serve our country and especially those who give the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
https://aboutthesethings.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/honor-the-fallen-2m30s.mp3Responsive Reading for Memorial Day
Let us give thanks to God for the land of our birth with all its chartered liberties. For all the wonder of our country’s story:
WE GIVE YOU THANKS, O GOD.
For leaders in nation and state, and for those who in days past and in these present times have labored for the commonwealth:
WE GIVE YOU THANKS, O GOD.
For those who in all times and places have been true and brave, and in the worlds common ways have lived upright lives and ministered to their fellows:
WE GIVE YOU THANKS, O GOD.
For those who served their country in its hour of need, and especially for those who gave even their lives in that service:
WE GIVE YOU THANKS, O GOD.
O almighty God and most merciful Father, as we remember these your servants, remembering with gratitude their courage and strength, we hold before you those who mourn them. Look upon your bereaved servants with your mercy. As this day brings them memories of those they have lost awhile, may it also bring your consolation and the assurance that their loved ones are alive now and forever in your living presence.
AMEN!

All Things Bright and Beautiful
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.
Refrain
The purple headed mountains,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning
That brightens up the sky.
Refrain
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.
Refrain
The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
To gather every day.
Refrain
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

Happy Mother’s Day. Thank God for the gift of motherhood, the gift of mothers, and the gift of children. Thank Him for special women who support mothers and children such as Grandmothers, Aunts, Friends and Neighbors. Praise Him for the gift of life. He is worthy of our praise—life and motherhood are worthy of our joy!
Motherhood Sublime EternalMotherhood, sublime, eternal, lives in God’s great heart of Love;
Ever holds us, safe enfolds us, underneath, around, above;
Patient, tender, kind, forgiving, though in devious paths we roam;
Gently chides us, ever guides us, and all-loving, leads us home.
Ev’ry wrong will sure be righted; ev’ry evil swept away;
Truth upspringing, justice bringing, ushers in the brighter day;
Mother calls her earthly children, loves them, lifts them when they fall;
Striving, calling, fainting, falling, Motherlove enfolds them all.
God is love, and love forever in the motherheart is blest;
Lives the longest, lifts the strongest, far outreaching all the rest;
Not by might, and not by wisdom comes our lifting from the sod:
Love’s pure glory tells the story in the Motherheart of God.
This is a hymn about motherhood and God’s loving care was reportedly inspired by the English Roman Catholic nun Julian of Norwich (1342-1416).
Lyrics: Julian Stearns Cutler (1854-1930).

Psalm 96:9

Still With Thee, When Purple Morning Breaketh
Still, still with Thee, when purple morning breaketh,
When the bird waketh, and the shadows flee;
Fairer than morning, lovelier than daylight,
Dawns the sweet consciousness, I am with Thee.
As in the dawning, o’er the waveless ocean,
The image of the morning star doth rest,
So in this stillness Thou beholdest only
Thine image in the waters of my breast.
When sinks the soul, subdued by toil, to slumber,
Its closing eye looks up to Thee in prayer;
Sweet the repose, beneath Thy wings o’ershadowing,
But sweeter still to wake and find Thee there.
So shall it be at last, in that bright morning
When the soul waketh, and life’s shadows flee;
Oh, in that hour, fairer than daylight’s dawning,
Shall rise the glorious thought, I am with Thee!

Let Me Sing, for the Glory of Heaven
Let me sing, for the glory of heaven
Like a sunbeam has swept o’er my heart;
I would praise Thee for sins all forgiven,
For Thy love, which shall never depart.
If Thy works praise Thee, Giver of good,
If the sun shines his praise unto Thee,
If the wind, as it sighs through the wood,
Makes a murmur of song from each tree,
Then these lips, sure, a tribute shall bring,
Though unworthy the praises must be;
Shall all nature be vocal and sing,
And no psalm of rejoicing from me?
O wonderful, glorious Redeemer!
I would worship Thee, Savior Divine;
And rejoice, though surrounded with praises,
Thou wilt still hear a song such as mine.

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
To all life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee.
Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render, O help us to see:
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee.
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
Refrain
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
Refrain

Lord, I hear of Show’rs of Blessing
Lord, I hear of show’rs of blessing
Thou art scatt’ring full and free,
Show’rs the thirsty land refreshing;
Let some drops now fall on me.
Even me, even me,
Let some drops now fall on me.
Pass me not, O tender Savior!
Let me love and cling to Thee;
I am longing for Thy favor;
While Thou’rt calling, call for me
Even me, even me,
Let some drops now fall on me.
Love of God, so pure and changeless!
Blood of Christ, so rich and free!
Grace of God, so strong and boundless!
Magnify them all in me.
Even me, even me,
Let some drops now fall on me.

Who is on the Lord’s Side?
Who is on the Lord’s side?
Who will serve the King?
Who will be His helpers,
Other lives to bring?
Who will leave the world’s side?
Who will face the foe?
Who is on the Lord’s side?
Who for Him will go?
By Thy grand redemption,
By Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side;

Knocking, Knocking
Knocking, knocking, who is there?
Waiting, waiting, O how fair!
’Tis a Pilgrim, strange and kingly,
Never such was seen before;
Ah! my soul, for such a wonder
Wilt thou not undo the door?
Wilt thou not undo the door?
Knocking, knocking, still He’s there,
Waiting, waiting, wondrous fair;
But the door is hard to open,
For the weeds and ivy vine
With their dark and clinging tendrils
Ever round the hinges twice,
Ever round the hinges twice.
Knocking, knocking what! still there?
Waiting, waiting, grand and fair;
Yea, the wounded hand still knocketh,
And beneath the thorn-wreath’d hair
Beam the patient eyes, so tender,
Of thy Savior waiting there;
Wilt thou keep him waiting there?

To end our Corrie Ten Boom Week we are featuring a hymn that is reported to have been a favoirte hymn of the Ten Boom Family.
Fairest Lord Jesus
Fairest Lord Jesus!
Ruler of all nature!
O Thou of God and man the Son!
Thee will I cherish,
Thee will I honor,
Thou, my soul’s glory, joy, and crown!
Fair are the meadows
Fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring;
Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing!
Fair is the sunshine,
Fairer still the moonlight,
And all the twinkling starry host;
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels heav’n can boast!
All fairest beauty,
Heavenly and earthly,
Wondrously, Jesus, is found in Thee;
None can be nearer,
Fairer, or dearer,
Than Thou my Savior art to me.

Down at the Cross
Down at the cross where my Savior died,
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
There to my sin was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!
Glory to His name,
Glory to His name;
There to my sin was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!
I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within;
There at the cross where He took me in;
Glory to His name.
Glory to His name,
Glory to His name;
There to my sin was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!
Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,
I am so glad I have entered in;
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean;
Glory to His name.
Glory to His name,
Glory to His name;
There to my sin was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!
Come to this fountain so rich and sweet;
Cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet;
Plunge in today, and be made complete;
Glory to His name.
Glory to His name,
Glory to His name;
There to my sin was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!

Hail to the Lord’s Anointed
Hail to the Lord’s Anointed,
Great David’s greater Son!
Hail, in the time appointed,
His reign on earth begun!
He comes to break oppression,
To set the captive free;
To take away transgression,
And rule in equity.
He shall come down like showers
Upon the fruitful earth;
And love, joy, hope, like flowers,
Spring in His path to birth:
Before Him on the mountains
Shall peace, the herald, go;
And righteousness, in fountains,
From hill to valley flow.

Come Let Us All Unite To Sing
Come, let us all unite to sing,
God is love, God is love.
Let heav’n and earth their praises bring;
God is love, God is love.
Let ev’ry soul from sin awake,
Each in his heart sweet music make,
And sing with us, for Jesus’ sake,
God is love! God is love!
How happy is our portion here!
God is love, God is love.
His promises our spirits cheer;
God is love, God is love.
He is our sun and shield by day,
Our help, our hope, our strength, and stay,
He will be with us all the way:
God is love! God is love!
In glory we shall sing again,
God is love, God is love.
Yes, this shall be our lofty strain,
God is love, God is love.
While endless ages roll along,
In concert with the heav’nly throng,
This shall be still our sweetest song,
God is love! God is love!

Amazing Grace
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come;
’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
his word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be,
as long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun,
we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
than when we first begun.

Begin the Day With God
Begin the day with God!
He is thy Sun and Day!
His is the radiance of thy dawn;
To Him address thy way.
Sing a new song at morn!
Join the glad woods and hills;
Join the fresh winds and seas and plains,
Join the bright flowers and rills.
Sing thy first song to God!
Not to thy fellow men;
Not to the creatures of His hand,
But to the glorious One.
Take thy first walk with God!
Let Him go forth with thee;
By stream, or sea, or mountain path,
Seek still His company.
Thy first transaction be
With God Himself above;
So shall thy business prosper well
And all the day be love.

Fresh as the Dew of the Morning
Fresh as the dew of the morning,
Bringing a sweet rest unheard,
Christ, in the gentle anointing,
Whispers His comforting word:
Stand till the trial is over,
Stand till the tempest is gone,
Stand for the glory of Jesus,
Stand till the kingdom is won.
Lord of all hope,
O how sweet is Thy voice,
Making my heart
In Thy presence rejoice.
If in the test of my trouble,
Faint be my spirit and heart,
Faith, with the star of hope glimm’ring,
Shall all be taken apart,
May then Thy faith with Thy life-pow’r
Over me hold its full sway
That all Thy riches of glory
Now I may share and for aye.
Lord of all hope,
O how sweet is Thy voice,
Making my heart
In Thy presence rejoice.
Lord, as the morning sun dawning,
Chase all my darkness away,
And with Thy kind wings of healing
Turn all my night into day.
Come Thou, O come, Lord of comfort,
Come to my sad, weary heart,
Come, O Thou blest hope of glory,
Never, O never depart.
Lord of all hope,
O how sweet is Thy voice,
Making my heart
In Thy presence rejoice.

All Praise to Our Redeeming Lord
All praise to our redeeming Lord,
Who joins us by His grace,
And bids us, each to each restored,
Together seek His face,
Together seek His face.
He bids us build each other up;
And, gathered into one,
To our high calling’s glorious hope,
We hand in hand go on,
We hand in hand go on.
The gift which He on one bestows,
We all delight to prove;
The grace through every vessel flows,
In purest streams of love,
In purest streams of love.
We all partake the joy of one;
The common peace we feel;
A peace to worldly minds unknown,
A joy unspeakable,
A joy unspeakable.
And if our fellowship below
In Christ yet be so sweet,
What height of rapture shall we know,
When round His throne we meet,
When round His throne we meet!

Love That Knew Us
Father, ’twas Thy love that knew us
Earth’s foundation long before:
That same love to Jesus drew us
By its sweet constraining pow’r,
And will keep us, and will keep us,
Safely now, and evermore,
Safely now, and evermore.
Now that changeless love enfolds us,
All its wealth on us bestows;
While its pow’r unchanging holds us
In a holy calm repose.
God and Father, God and Father,
Unto Thee our worship flows,
Unto Thee our worship flows.
God of love, our souls adore Thee!
We would still Thy grace proclaim,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
And in glory praise Thy name;
Praise and worship, praise and worship
Be to God and to the Lamb!
Be to God and to the Lamb!

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

“One of the things that has always attracted me to abandoned locations is the austere beauty of the neglected or forgotten. The textures, colors, shadows, and lines speak of a life once lived within the confines, and the absence is as empty as it is filled. I can feel the wheel of time turn within these places as nature takes back what was only borrowed, infiltrating the cracks and seams with the tendrils of her vine-fingers, while spray painting the surfaces with moss, mold, and dirt.”

‘Tis Winter Now; the Fallen Snow
‘Tis winter now; the fallen snow
has left the heavens all coldly clear;
through leafless boughs the sharp winds blow,
and all the earth lies dead and drear.
And yet God’s love is not withdrawn;
his life within the keen air breathes;
his beauty paints the crimson dawn,
and clothes each branch with glittering wreaths.
And though abroad the sharp winds blow,
and skies are chill, and frosts are keen,
home closer draws her circle now,
and warmer glows her light within.
O God, you give the winter’s cold,
as well as summer’s joyous rays,
you warmly in your love enfold,
and keep us through life’s wintry days.

All Praise to You, My God, This Night
All praise to You, my God, this night,
For all the blessings of the light.
Keep me, O keep me, King of kings,
Beneath the shelter of Your wings.
Forgive me, Lord, for this I pray,
The wrong that I have done this day.
May peace with God and neighbor be,
Before I sleep restored to me.
Lord, may I be at rest in You
And sweetly sleep the whole night thro’.
Refresh my strength, for Your own sake,
So I may serve You when I wake.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

As you read over the words of this old hymn let it become your prayer for the New Year.
Be Thou My Vision
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word;
I ever with thee, and thou with me, Lord.
Born of thy love, thy child may I be,
thou in me dwelling and I one with thee.
Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise;
thou mine inheritance, now and always.
Thou and thou only, first in my heart,
Ruler of heaven, my treasure thou art.
O King of glory, my victory won;
Rule and reign in me ’til Thy will be done;
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall;
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Angels From the Realms of Glory
Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o’er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation’s story,
Now proclaim Messiah’s birth:
Come and worship,
Come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!
Shepherds, in the fields abiding,
Watching o’er your flocks by night,
God with man is now residing,
Yonder shines the infant Light;
Come and worship,
Come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!
Saints before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope and fear,
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In His temple shall appear:
Come and worship,
Come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!

In my mind’s eye, I see it now~
The wonder of that night~
When angels spoke to humble men,
Awaking in their fright.
No other eyes had gazed in awe
At such a wondrous scene,
Nor heard the angel herald’s voice,
Thinking it was a dream.
Imagination transports me
To see with starstruck eyes
Unveiled messengers of God
Appearing in night skies.
My soul exults, my voice rings out,
With angel bands I sing!
Our hallelujahs fill the air
With praises to the King!

As the calendar moves closer to Easter, songs like this help us focus on renewal and restoration. We have a God willing to show us mercy. May we embrace His forgiveness and live in the warmth of His grace.
Lord Have Mercy
Jesus, I’ve forgotten the words that You have spoken
Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim
With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom
Forgive me for my unbelief
Renew the fire again
[Chorus]
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
[Repeat]
I have built an altar where I worship things of men
I have taken journeys that have drawn me far from You
Now I am returning to Your mercies ever flowing
Pardon my transgressions
Help me love You again
[Repeat Chorus]
I have longed to know You & Your tender mercies
Like a river of forgiveness ever flowing without end
I bow my heart before You in the goodness of Your presence
Your grace forever shining
Like a beacon in the night
[Repeat Chorus]

Following Him
O God, who considered my fallen state
and loved me still,
How proud and haughty, how reckless
the path of my stubborn will. . .
But You, who placed the flagstones
where my faltering feet need go.
Sought me with love that opened
blinded eyes; You loved me so.
As a bird set free, I fled
the cage that imprisoned me.
The light that shone on printed page
You sweetly shared with me.
Now we walk together, You and I,
as step by step, You guide.
As we walk on, oft times I stray,
while You so faithfully abide.
To follow where You gently lead,
the desire of my fickle heart —
Each time I stumble, You assure me,
We two will never, ever part.

I have set My rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. Genesis 9:13
God Has Set His Sign
God has set His sign, a rainbow,
Midst the rainy clouds above;
’Tis the token of His cov’nant
With the man and earth He loves;
Ne’er again to send a deluge,
Hence His faithfulness is told!
He is true to every promise,
And His changeless word we hold!
The appearance of that rainbow,
Brightly in its splendor’s shown
’Round the Lamb-God of redemption,
Seated there upon the throne;
With His righteousness and glory
And His holiness He shines!
Colors blue and red and yellow
Show forth heaven’s hues divine!
May the meaning of the rainbow
Be our full reality;
In the church and in our living,
God expressed for all to see;
’Round the throne in that bright City,
Grateful voices we shall raise:
“God is faithful in salvation!
Shout to His eternal praise!”

Safe In the Arms of Jesus
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul doth rest.
Hark! ’tis a song of heaven
Borne in the sweetest voice,
Echoed by saints in spirit,
Making my heart rejoice.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul doth rest.
