I got news this week that my coach Ron had passed away.
To this day, he is the single most influential human being I have ever been around.
He taught me lessons 20+ years ago that I use every single day in my life.
And I am not the only one. This is pretty much the norm for every athlete who wrestled for him.
As I reflected on his life and what it meant to so many, it got me thinking about exactly what made him so special.
These all mattered, but there was one thing that made him stand out and will always make him memorable to the people who were around him.
I talk about it in this special podcast episode...
What if you could experience emotions like calm, ENERGIZED, inspired, passionate or anything you choose on a consistent daily imagine?
Just imagine how remarkable this would make your life...
The truth is that you CAN drum up any emotion you choose with the right daily approach.
This podcast outlines a three step CAN combo that you can start using right now to make it happen.
If you enjoy the podcast, be sure to pass it on to others who would enjoy it.
What if you could show up each day and consistently perform to your highest potential in the areas of your life that matter to you most?
Just imagine what you could accomplish if you brought your best every single day...
It would be EPIC, right?
You would finally be able to create results and a life you truly love (and are proud of)!
But...how do you even go about making this happen with all the clutter around you?
By working the three steps outlined in this podcast episode...
It seems like our world has become more and more chaotic over the past year with everything going on.
With the new wave of COVID, there has been a new escalation of drama that is hard to ignore.
This has caused more anxiety, frustration, overwhelm and exhaustion because of all the uncertainty.
But...what if it didn't have to be this way? What if you could take control of your response and bring a positive mindset every single day?
This episode outlines three powerful, life altering steps you can take to always find peace, calm and fulfillment no matter what is going on around you.
In today's frantic world, we find ourselves pulled in a thousand different directions. This has led so many people to feeling overwhelmed and uncertain where to go in their lives.
I got to thinking this weekend and thought to myself, "it makes complete sense!"
EVERY SINGLE DAY, we are literally bombarded with...
It's no wonder we find ourselves feeling lost...we have a chaotic, broken model in our society.
BUT...here's the cool thing: you can reject this model. This is literally no rule at all that says that you have to follow it.
Instead, you can CHOOSE to carve out your own path + CREATE a life on your own terms that you truly LOVE.
This podcast episode teaches you a POWERFUL process to start making this happen.
What are the biggest barriers that are stopping you from achieving your desired outcomes in life?
This is the question I ask every audience that I speak to while traveling across the United States doing keynote talks.
The most common responses...Fear, self-doubt, distractions, perfection and instant expectations.
This episode talks about four "Yellow Ball Habits" that any person can chase daily to flip the script on these barriers.

Habits. If you want to achieve more in your business and/or life, they are an absolute must.
However, in today's uber cluttered world, forming habits is harder than ever. This is why so many people fall short when pursuing change in their lives.
This is why I have poured into creating a unique structure in my ETR Coaching programs that maximizes people's chances of success when establishing habits.
In this episode, I outline five MUSTS to make world-class habits in the key areas of your life.

I was meeting with a member of my ETR Monthly Live coaching club recently and they told me, "I have fallen short on my new habit. It is disappointing because I went 15 days straight and then missed."
My immediate gut reaction was, "Yeah, so what?!?!"
Before you jump to any conclusions, let me clarify what I meant here. Everyone falls short. No big deal. Just hop back up and commit to your next 66-days. Keep showing up until you lock in your habit and close the gap on your goals.
The thing I have learned is that even the most effective people on the planet fall short from time to time when pursuing new habits and aspirations.
The thing that makes these high-level human beings unique is that they learn not to take it personally. Then they diminish their dwell time and get back to pursuing their desired outcomes in life.
This podcast episode outlines five steps you can take to flip the script on permanently falling short of expectations.

When you get the chance to interview one of the most passionate and impactful leaders you have ever met, you take it.
Then you get to work trying to squeeze out the most impactful lessons he has learned in a 30-year career as a pastor and leadership specialist for maximizing passion, purpose and potential.
In this episode, I talk to Ken Hubbard (founder and lead pastor of Radius Church) about his approach to living intentionally on a daily basis.
He outlines an innovative "FIST philosophy" that he uses on a consistent basis to make sure he is maximizing his daily impact and output. We cover the following concepts in the episode:
I started to incorporate this philosophy this week and I already feel a distinct difference in my approach. I know you will feel the same way!

In the epic historical movie Gladiator, Russell Crowe plays a character who is forced to fight in the gladiatorial arena to avenge the murders of his family and his emperor.
At one dramatic point in the movie, he takes out all of the challengers and yells at the top of his lungs to the audience, "Are you NOT entertained?!?!"
No, this podcast episode doesn't have anything to do with fighting. Well, other than having a willingness to fight for the things that matter to you most!
But I do find myself thinking this statement when people tell me how they feel about their results and life.
It is safe to say that most people are not currently entertained by their current situation in life. Instead, I would say that a large chunk of people would like better in their lives.

In the past few weeks, I have noticed a trend in the people I have been working with. In coaching, courses, challenges...I keep hearing the same thing from people: I didn't do it.
These were good people that intended to follow through on their intentions, but something kept coming up. For one person, it was focus that stopped them from taking action. For another it was a busy schedule that got in the way.
Then there was Spring Break. Vacation came and habits were completely out the door. In all of these instances, the things that mattered most took a back seat to convenience. And there is ALWAYS a cost when this happens.
This episode outlines these costs before outlining four steps you can take to flip the script on the "Convenience Conundrum." Don't allow easy to stop you from living to your highest potential.
4 Steps to Flip the Script on the Convenience Conundrum 1. Get crystal clear on absolute top priority areas 2. Determine the costs and benefits of follow through 3. Stop lying to yourself 4. Do it anyways!!!

If you could change one single habit in your life, what would it be? This is the question I have asked hundreds of people the last month. Why? Because I wanted to learn the biggest barriers people were facing in their lives. Equally important, I wanted to know what change people were passionate about creating. In the end, there were two responses that were prominent over the rest. The second most popular...eliminating sugar. People commonly referred to themselves as "sugar junkies" and wanted to be able to get rid of this habit. The most popular response...eliminating self-doubt. The interesting thing is that this was a trend that even showed up among highly effective people in prominent leadership roles. Most people tend to believe that self-doubt is out of their control, but this is simply not true. The reality is that doubt itself is a pattern that can be diminished with the right habits. This podcast episode outlines 3 simple steps you can take to flip the script on self-doubt. If you commit to working them on a consistent basis, you can replace limiting beliefs with confidence and empowering emotions. 3 Steps to Diminish Your Doubt: 1. Acknowledge (But Don't Over-Respond to) Doubt 2. Doubt Your Doubt 3. Re-direct Your Doubt

It's Time to Talk Technology... As I rode the elliptical this week at the gym, I listened to music to get myself in a creative state. I have learned from experience that this is one of the ways I generate my best thoughts. For some reason, my mind kept coming back to recent conversations with people. These included friends, clients, event planners, and business owners. They all centered around challenges they were facing. There were three trends that kept emerging: Focus, motivation, and frustration. Most of these people were experiencing undesirable emotions because of a lack of focus and motivation. As I reflected on these outcomes, I kept asking myself "WHY?" with emotional intensity. Eventually the answer why so many people are failing to get desirable outcomes came to me. It was technology. I realized that this single area is robbing our ability to live to potential. In this episode, I outline exactly how technology is trashing our ability to achieve and four steps we can take to flip the script and live to potential. How to Flip the Script: 1. Create immediate interrupt with your most important things 2. Produce "distraction free" priority work periods 3. Set technology use limitations daily 4. See technology for what it is

Eliminate Excuses and Achieve EXTRAordinary Every single day, most people give up one of their greatest powers to create results they desire. How? By making excuses that limit their potential. I have learned from experience that excuses come in abundance for most people. I'm not enough, I don't have enough time, and I am not a morning person are a few I have heard this week. There are literally thousands of examples of excuses that people use to let themselves off the hook. I'm sure you can relate if you are being honest with yourself. The key to creating meaningful change and results in your life is to learn to eliminate excuses. In this episode, I outline four specific steps you can take to make this happen! * Catch the robber in the act * See the excuse for what it truly is * Tell excuse to go away...you don't need it! * Focus on all the reasons you WILL close the gap

The Science of Intelligent Achievement When bestselling author Dr. Isaiah Hankel hit rock bottom, he did what most people fail to do. He assessed his life and realized that he needed to make changes. His new aim...intelligent achievement. Then he went out and took MASSIVE action to make it happen. On top of this, Dr. Hankel documented the entire process because he was passionate about helping others create change. The end result was a new book he is releasing called The Science of Intelligent Achievement. I sat down recently to talk to Dr. Hankel about both his new book and transformation in a 30-minute interview. In our conversation, we touched on the following topics: * How values guide intelligent achievement * Why ENERGY is your most important asset * Ways to Avoid "Productivity Pitfalls" in approach * The MAXimum daily time work period

The "Never-ending" Cycle of Negative What stops most people from achieving their goals? The cycle of negative thoughts that fill their minds on a daily basis. If you are skeptical here, consider the fact that research shows that 80% of most people's thoughts are negative. This means that 12.8 hours of days are filled with unproductive junk. When you consider these statistics, it is easy to see how 66% of people are stressed and unhappy with their lives. They are focused on thoughts that give them unwanted emotions. Are you in this place? Don't dwell about it if so. Instead, simply commit to habits that will allow you to flip the script on negative thoughts. This episode outlines four simple steps you can take to end the cycle of negative in your life. Following through will allow you to create habits conducive to an inspired life. 1. Interrupt your negative patterns: Create a morning growth routine 2. Redirect your focus: Point your brain to what you want (values/goals) 3. Reinforce proactive habits: Take action to build momentum 4. Stack and fill brain with positive: Pursue habits that elevate efforts

The Performance Secret ENERGY. It is one of the few things that all high performers have in common. This is the case regardless of their background. This makes it the performance secret to EXTRAordinary. Think about it. CEO's need it to drive results. Athletes need it to perform at peak levels. And parents need it to pour into their kids so they can teach them lessons to elevate their lives. Then why does it allude so many people? Why is it that so many solid people say that they just feel drained on a consistent basis? Why does passion seem to be such a rare occurrence in our society? Because most people have never approached ENERGY as something to pursue. They have not created baselines to emphasize and pursue on a consistent basis. This is where we start. * #1 Emphasis: Having enough ENERGY to get through your days. * #2 Emphasis: Creating enough ENERGY to achieve some results and goals. * #3 Emphasis: Cultivating the ENERGY to create something truly EXTRAordinary
But simply knowing these baselines is not enough. Once you know exactly what you desire, the key is to create ENERGY Chargers that allow you to fill your tank to an optimal level. This episode outlines three strategies you can implement to make this happen: 1. Cut Back on ENERGY Drainers 2. Invest in a Charging Station 3. Create ENERGY Trigger Systems

The TEDx Talk Perspective Every single day, we make choices on how to respond to our environment. The problem is that we often make them unconsciously based on previously established, counterproductive habits. Let me give you an example I see on a consistent basis. A person goes out to pursue a goal that they are passionate about. They take action and don't get immediate results. Rather than digging in and seeing this tension as a part of the process, they get frustrated and stop taking action. They often tend to take the lack of results personally. This response leads to negative emotions that impact all parts of our lives. And we tend to do this with a wide range of situations in our lives. But it doesn't have to be this way. The reality is that we ALWAYS have control on how we respond to the situations in our lives. That is, if we keep the right perspective. I outlined how to make this happen in my Perspective Sparks Potential TEDx Talk. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwTaWNo1o7Y&t=389s[/embed] If you start taking control of your choice to respond in a productive manner, your entire life will drastically transform. You will start to get results and emotions you absolutely love. But you MUST earn them! For more resources on transforming your life, sign-up for the FREE 6-Steps to MASSIVE Success video series. How EXCUSES and DREAMS are Connected While we don't often realize it, these two things are directly connected in our lives every single day. When we say this out loud, it makes complete sense. Yet we get so caught up in our daily lives that we don't even consider this fact. Here is the reality. Every person on the planet has moments of clarity when they see things they would love to achieve in their lives. The problem is that people don't tend to act on them. Why? Because deep down we don't believe we can achieve them. So we subconsciously find "reasonable" excuses that allow us to settle. This is when dreams slowly start to disappear without us even knowing it. Losing your ability to dream is alone an outcome worthy of fighting to avoid. However, there is another consequence when you make excuses. In the place of dreams comes disappointment that impacts every aspect of our life. But the cool thing is that you DO NOT have to accept this! Instead, you can commit to building up your ability to dream so you can drastically elevate your life. This episode give you four steps to make this happen. 1. Learn to truly listen to your inner voice 2. Give your goals a gift 3. Do something daily to close the gap 4. Challenge yourself to step BIGGER
As you follow this process, your INTUITION, BELIEF, and ABILITY TO DREAM will all get better! With this, your entire life will elevate to a place you LOVE! Earn that right starting today! I Was Definitely Nervous I had prepared for my TEDx Talk for months. From the moment I found out I had been accepted to give one, I had prepared for the opportunity. For the first month, I dove into creating a crazy profound topic that would impact people. And once that was in place, I practiced every single day on my delivery. Then I arrived in Hilliard for the event for rehearsal and felt some nerves coming on. As I watched the other speakers, I realized I was definitely a little nervous. There is no doubt that this showed in my practice talk as I lost my place at one point in the talk. I left realizing I needed to adjust. Transformational Shift: How I Changed My Approach Leaving the facility, I stopped and went through my normal "emotion interrupt process." This is when I realized my focus was all wrong. My problem was that I was worried too much about what the talk would mean for me. Through a series of situations, I shifted my mindset back to focusing on giving and growing. Getting back to my two top core values was exactly what I needed to do to deliver my talk at a high level. I felt GREAT during the talk and LOVED the process! This episode outlines how you can shift any negative emotion you are feeling so you can perform to potential. Learn how to redirect so you can live at a high level every single day! And be ready to check out my TEDx Talk when it comes out in a few weeks! It will be a game changer! Uncomfortable sparks potential. This is not a concept that I always understood. Certainly not in the way that I outline it in this podcast episode. The reality is that most people avoid uncomfortable at all costs in our society. Why? We are taught that things should come easily and instantly. I have to admit that I fall into this category at times. In fact, this is exactly what I was doing recently with my health and fitness. First, there were injuries that held me up from working out. Next, I got lazy with my diet and put on about 5 extra pounds. Finally, I justified it and settled for less than acceptable results. The Turning Point Lucky for me, I had a trip to California where I stayed with a coach who is in GREAT shape. He asked me to go for a run in the morning and pushed the pace hard. But the coolest thing happened in the process. I realized that I did not like the gap in my fitness level and made a decision to do something about it. Now I am back on track! In this episode, I outline how you can use uncomfortable to spark your potential. These are four steps you can take to get more results almost immediately. 4 Steps for Uncomfortable to Spark Potential 1. Prioritize your top priorities 2. Invest in resources that stretch you in top priority areas 3. Find people living at a HIGH level in top priority areas 4. Use uncomfortable references to drive your transformation

Why not you? This is the question you should ask yourself every single day if you don't have a life you absolutely love. The truth is that you are capable of far more than you realize. In fact, you could realize all of your goals and dreams if you just lived to potential. So, why is it that 97% of all people never make this happen? Well, the reality is that we are battling against the current each day to make this happen. Top Reasons for 'Why We Don't Achieve Great Things' 1. Status quo environment around us (influences) 2. Crazy clutter of living (distractions) 3. Our lazy habits (counterproductive decisions) 4. Lack of belief in ourselves (limiting thoughts)
Do you want more in your life? If so, then commit to changing your focus. Narrow in on people who have overcome these challenges to achieve extraordinary things. In this episode, I talk about three people who will help you realize that you are capable of MUCH more. Three Reasons to Believe in 'Why Not You?' Approach 1. Elizabeth Smart (Kidnapped when 9 - Now inspirational speaker) 2. Kyle Maynard (Quad Amputee - Now author, speaker, and amazing inspirational person) 3. Oprah Winfrey (Abused and rejected - Now one of the most influential people on the planet)

Focus. It is one of my the most powerful tools that we have as human beings. Yet most people have no idea how to use it. Allow me to set the tone first. Have you ever been frustrated in your life? Have you ever had emotions that you don't like? Of course you have...you are human after all! Whenever you have these emotions, it is because you have chosen negative thoughts and this is our bodies response to them. Most of us do this unconsciously every single day. We focus on things we don't have, what we are not enough of, and what we don't get and it causes us to feel like crap. The crazy thing is that we often focus on these negative things when we have all kinds of great things around us. The truth is that we could have focused on these good things at any moment and made our lives better. This episode is dedicated to help you do this exact thing. We want to help you focus on abundance so you have attract more of what you want in your life. The key lies in learning to shift your focus. Here are four steps you can take to make this happen moving forward: 1. Catch your negative emotions (and believe you can change them) 2. Identify counterproductive thoughts that are leading to the emotions 3. Shift your brain to a productive perspective point 4. Rinse and repeat until this process becomes habit

Have you ever wondered how some people manage to achieve MASSIVE success in their lives? You know, the people like Lebron James, Oprah Winfrey, and Kyle Snyder. It has to be talent, right? Well, that certainly plays a role as these people certainly have gifts that impact performance. But this is not the main factor. Not even close considering all kinds of talented people never come close to living to potential. Is it their work ethic? This is something that no doubt has an influence as these individuals work REALLY hard. However, the truth is that hard work is not enough. There are all kinds of people that work hard and spin their wheels. They don't achieve the results they desire. So, what is the key ingredient you ask? It is all about their habits. This episode outlines four simple steps you can take to be just like the world's top performers. Follow through here and your results/life will explode: 1. Crayons. 200,000 of them. Can you imagine being able to send that amount to kids in need across the world as an 11-year old in 5th grade? It is staggering to think about! Yet this is exactly what Bethany Kuster has done with her Color for Kids organization. She has created a movement designed to provide art supplies to kids in need. "If you have a big goal, it will not come easily or instantly. Instead, it will often be rooted in disappointment and frustration. But if you keep pushing for it, eventually there will come a time when the thing you want just sneaks up on you. This moment will be worth it so earn it!" One of the goals I have been passionate about for years is giving a TEDx talk. It has just been something that really intrigued me since I became aware of the conference. So, I did what I now tell thousands of people do when they want something. I wrote this goal down for 6 months and started to take action. But despite my efforts, nothing happened. Well, I shouldn't say nothing because I proceeded to be rejected 5 times straight by TEDx conference planners. It was frustrating. It came to a point where I momentarily doubted the effectiveness of goals. How could I be working the process and not get results? Yet through these frustrations, I kept writing down my goal. And I kept my eye out for opportunities to bring it to fruition. It took longer than I expected, but the opportunity to speak at TEDx recently came. The interesting part was that it came naturally through relationships when I didn't expect it. The lesson I learned is that sometimes there is a delayed nature to goal setting. When results don't come, we tend to think it isn't working. Instead, it just needed time to unfold. In this episode, I talk about how to give yourself a shot to achieve your goals when they take longer than expected. Uncertainty. It is one of the single biggest things that stop most people from achieving great things. Yet most people don't even know why they are stuck in their lives. Having worked with thousands of people in a performance capacity, here is how it plays out. People get excited about pursuing something they are passionate about and plan to take action. Seems like this would be a definite recipe for success, right? Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Why? Because people are not comfortable with the uncertainty that eventually comes with BIG aspirations. I have seen it time and time again. When uncertainty comes, good people back off because they have associated it with "bad" things such as failure, disappointment, and being overwhelmed. As a result, they quit and go back to comfortable. If you want to achieve awesome things that charge your life, you must learn to flip the script on this process. It is critical that you learn to undress the element of uncertainty so you can pursue the things you are passionate about. This episode outlines four specific steps you can take to make this happen. So, if you are ready to find the next level in your life, listen and learn how to embrace uncertainty. 1. It's part of the process...when you have BIG goals 2. Change the way you see uncertainty 3. Step and shrink the "stress" of uncertainty 4. Rinse and repeat until uncertainty is no longer a thing
In reality, you do not have to allow uncertainty to stop you from achieving AWESOME things. At any moment, you can shift your mindset and create an approach that allows you to earn a life you absolutely LOVE! Are you constantly looking for lessons to elevate your life? Sure you are! This is exactly why this is the perfect podcast for you! Why exactly? Because it features the best lessons from the most downloaded episodes of all-time for the ETR podcast. How did I get these lessons? Well, first off I interviewed over 40 people achieving EXTRAORDINARY things over the past year. The interviews included Olympic Champions, billionaires, NCAA Champion coaches, uber successful entrepreneurs, international speakers, bestselling authors, and a variety of other unique performers. From these individuals, I was able to learn what some of the most effective people on the planet are doing to get results. This was a crash course in how to be AWESOME in your life! On top of this, I was able to sit back and watch the episodes that listeners were most drawn to. After more than 40,000+ downloads, there was a top five that emerged that included the following five individuals and lessons. * Lesson #1 (episode 11): "You MUST Pursue Extraordinary" from 21x NCAA Champion Coach Anson Dorrance * Lesson #2 (episode 15): "Create Habits That Serve Your Aspirations" from Billionaire Investor Mike Novogratz * Lesson #3 (episode 4): "Learn to Love the Growth Process" by Olympic and World Champion Kyle Snyder * Lesson #4 (episode 23): "Just Be Motivated" by 10x NCAA Champion Coach Jim Miller * Lesson #5 (episode 70): "Strive to Elevate Other's Standards" by my former Hall of Fame Coach Ron Bessemer
In this episode, I outline each of the lessons and how each of them can help people go out and live at a CRAZY high level. Each episode is delivered in a nature progression to make it easy for you to apply them to your life in an efficient manner. Have you ever met a person that absolutely blows you away that you love being around? You know...the type that you immediately know are special because of the way they carry themselves. This is the way that I felt when interviewing the legendary 87-year old McMurry University coach Bev Ball. She just radiates an ENERGY that is contagious! As we sat down in her office, I was immediately drawn to all the unique pictures and honors which displayed the impact of her career. Then we started to talk and I felt comfortable. I quickly learned that this was just Bev. She exudes a love that immediately makes you feel at home when around her. In this episode, we cover a variety of topics designed to help anyone go out and live a great life. Here are a few of the highlights: 1. How to stay ENERGIZED regardless of your age 2. The importance of LOVING what you do 3. Learning to LOVE others and leave a legacy 4. The role of investing in yourself each day
The biggest thing I took from the interview was the importance of love. Here is an 87-year old woman who still has an ENERGY of a 30-year old. Her secret? She LOVES what she does and she shows LOVE to others every single day. At the end of the day, it is a purpose that drives her to keep pursuing her highest potential. It is staggering and inspiring at the same time! It is absolutely worth your time to listen to the episode. Take 35-minutes of your day and learn how an 87-year old still impacts lives every single day. If you enjoy this episode, then be sure to share it with others who would benefit from the message. Have you ever had the urge to want to go out and be extraordinary in your life? I believe that most people at least have moments where they are passionate about having their life stand for something unique. The problem is that most people allow these moments to pass without acting on them. They allow their inspiration to pass without a second thought. I was recently on a flight to Dallas, Texas for a couple of talks when I had what I call a "moment of clarity." These are moments where you have INTENSE energy around an idea that just makes sense. Another way I describe it is having an overwhelming urge in your body to want to do something. My moment of clarity came while I was listening to music. It was crystal clear. I had a STRONG urge to want to go out and be EXTRAordinary in the key areas of my life. I realized I am nowhere near my potential when it comes to this pursuit. I started taking notes like crazy with the thoughts that came about this topic so I would not lose them. What I came up with are 4 basic steps you can implement to create a life that is truly unique. 1. Be intrigued by EXTRAordinary 2. Identify the roles you want to be EXTRAordinary in 3. Create a vision for EXTRAordinary in each role 4. Take action on top values to build momentum
The biggest mistake we make is assuming that EXTRAordinary is reserved for other people. The truth is that you can start the process of being unique in an AWESOME way at any moment. You just have to believe it is possible. If you enjoy this episode, then be sure to share it with others who would benefit from the message. Have you ever launched a new idea or product and been disappointed with the response to it? If you are anything like most people, then the response is a resounding "yes!" The problem is that most people have the wrong expectation leading into their launch. Because they expect things to come easily, they are often set up to fall short of expectations without even knowing it. The cool thing is that you can avoid this pitfall by making a small shift in your psychology. Rather than expecting instant, you MUST instead learn to "OWN your interest rate." What exactly does this mean? Well, simply put this encompasses you expecting to have to go out and create ENERGY around your brand. This is a small shift that can equal MASSIVE results. This episode outlines the following four specific steps you can take to start owning your interest rate. 1. Make interest your individual responsibility 2. Create a vision that inspires you 3. Incorporate ENERGY in all messaging 4. Give people a reason to care

If you are lucky, you have had someone unique step into your life at some point and make it MUCH better. I can certainly say this was the case for me as an athlete.
In my 20+ years as an athlete, I was blessed to have a variety of solid coaches that left an imprint on me. But one stood out that completely transformed my mindset and life.
The interesting thing is that we did not call him coach. He said to call him Ron so we did that. This was different than any other coach I ever had. He did not need us to call him coach because we knew exact who the leader was in the room.
We did things completely differently. We trained in really weird ways. We were encouraged to be grateful and have fun. We ended up achieving extraordinary things as a team.
In this episode, I sit down with my former coach Ron and talk about his philosophy on coaching and how he tried to make a difference in his career. Enthusiasm and elevated expectations were two themes that fired me up!

Confidence is one of those things that every proactive person on the planet wants more of in their life. The interesting thing is that most people think it is something that is out of their control. However, this common belief is simply not true. The reality is that you can earn more confidence if you create the right habits in your life. This episode outlines four steps you can take to elevate your mindset in key areas of your life. 1. Pick Your Perspective Point:The first step is owning the fact that you can cultivate confidence and other skill sets with your actions. 2. Be Intentional With Growth:The second step involves investing in a growth system that keeps your mind actively focused on the right things while building your skill sets. 3. Take Daily Steps Towards Goals:The third step involves doing something intentional each day to close the gap on the things that matter to you most so you can build momentum. 4. Eliminate the Picture of Perfect:The final step involves eliminating your perception that you need to be perfect so you can get started and enjoy the process.
The key is to be proactive with your approach every single day so you can earn confidence that transforms your results and life over time. Have you ever had the urge to tone down your expectations because you were worried about not fitting in? Or just wanted to adjust your personality to not attract attention? If so, you are not alone. Why? Because from the time you were little, it was likely that you were encouraged to fit in by the people around you. The problem here is that toning down your approach to fit in will never allow you to be unique. In fact, it pretty much guarantees that you will never live to your full potential. This episode discusses some of the reasons why you should embrace being “weird” in your life. If you are resistant to this idea, then consider the fact that Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, and Ellen DeGeneres have all been criticized for being different. It is time to change the way you see things so you can create an approach that allows you to stand out. Be “weird” in a really good way so you can build a life that is memorable. It seems like there is so much negativity in our society today. We are bombarded with messages that tend to pull us away from a mindset that would allow us to achieve our goals.
Yet I say this and know that it is not entirely true. Well, at least not about the part about the messages pulling us away from our goals.
The truth is that we ultimately choose our response to EVERYTHING in our environment. If we have a negative attitude, it is because we have chosen the wrong response to the environment around us.
The cool thing is that we can change this NOW if we learn to focus on the right things. This episode outlines 5 steps you can take to say positive in a negative world. Take steps TODAY and close the gap on the life you want!

It is that time of year where we are considering how we want our lives to be different. The New Year tends to bring an optimism about change.
The problem is that we often don't create the right mindset to get different. Simply put, we do not put enough emotion behind our intentions.
As I reflected on 2016, I thought about all the things that happened that I was truly grateful for. This is something that is so important to do because it creates a proactive mindset.
However, I did not stop here. Instead, I tried something different. I asked myself, "what are things I am tired of in my life that I WILL NOT allow in 2017?"
I came up with three different things: laziness, fear, and being close. Listen to exactly what these things were for me and how you can use this process to make 2017 AWESOME!

I was ready to give up. I was the #1 wrestler in the country and I was considering losing and just going home.
I used to be a little ashamed to admit this, but then I realized that this was a story that people connected with on a personal level. Why? Because everyone has failed at some point in their life and considered giving up.
I was fortunate that I had an amazing coach that stepped into my life and encouraged me to not to quit. He just asked me to fight and said that I would be glad I did some day.
It turns out he was right. That is one of the greatest lessons that I have ever learned in my life. When something matters, you don't give up on it.
My hope is that this episode can lift somebody up as they go through a difficult time in their life. Or that it inspires someone to be a person who helps others keep fighting to earn the right to live their dreams. Or better yet, both.

There is not a person on the planet who does not want more of something in their life. This is a common thing as most people would love to have more time, money, and/or happiness.
The problem comes when people want them to come quickly. This is a common problem today in our society as technology has trained us to expect instant.
The issue here is that the greatest accomplishments in the world do not come easily. Instead, they are outcomes that were earned over extended periods of time through dedication, persistent, and sacrifice.
If you want to be unique, then you need to learn to see things differently. Rather than avoiding the struggle, you MUST step into it and embrace it as a part of the process.
In this episode, I talk about how and why you can learn to train your mind to love struggle so you can achieve awesome things.

"Failure" is a funny thing. When we don't get exactly what we want, we tend to see it as a bad thing.
I think we have it all wrong. Dealing with adversity is not a bad thing. Not always. Sometimes it is just want we need.
The reason I say this is because some of the biggest "failures" in my life have turned into my greatest turning points.
Whether it is relationship problems, falling short of expectations, or getting rejected, sometimes adversity is the exact thing we need.
In this episode, I talk about three challenging situations in my life that turned out to be absolute blessings. Learn how to find the lesson so you can turn your life into something you LOVE!

Every person on the planet have doubts that creep into their mind from time to time as they pursue their goals. However, not everyone responds to them the same way, and it is the quality of this response that determines the quality of your life.
The average response in our society today is to allow the doubt to camp out in our minds. As this happens, most people tone down their expectations and go back to what is comfortable.
On the flip side, successful people take a more proactive approach by pushing out the doubt and instead focusing on using every minute to close the gap on their goals.
This episode talks about why doubt is so common and the things you can do to eliminate it so you are confident in your ability to achieve your highest aspirations.

I decided it was time to unveil ETR Uncut. These are episodes where I speak about something I am passionate about until I am out of things to say.
We kick things off in this first episode with a topic that is crazy prevalent in our society today. I have witnessed this mentality firsthand in a variety of environments as I work with people to help them achieve their potential.
The issue that we have in our society today is that everyone wants things to come easily. The problem with this approach is that no worthwhile accomplishment can be achieved with this approach.

It's the most interesting thing. Ask people to talk about the things they don't like and there is no problem creating conversation. Ask them about their goals and you often get nothing but the sound of crickets.
People don't intend for this to be the case, but they have been trained by our society to settle. Because of this, they are uncomfortable talking about the things they want out of life.
Yet, the part where you own aspirations is exactly what it takes to create a unique life that is filled with awesome accomplishments. In this episode, I discuss what it takes for you to make this happen.
This episode is all about encouraging you to set goals and to be willing to take steps to make them a reality. When you are consistent at doing this, you will eventually build momentum and close the gap on the exact life you want.

I was sitting at a sold out Luke Bryan concert last night and looked around at the 18,000+ loyal fans going crazy as he performed. Then I stopped and considered everything going on around me.
It blew me away that Luke Bryan is able to draw this type of audience in every city he goes to for months and months. It made sense though as his skill sets, passion, and authenticity were present on stage throughout the concert.
However, another thought hit me as I watched the concert unfold. Why is it that most people are so content just being spectators to the rare people who are bold enough to pursue their dreams?
