"Homilies" - Please note: Homilies may neither be reproduced nor full credit for their content given to Fr. Sean Prince. Thoughts or ideas from various sources—including exegetical commentaries—were used and developed further to guide in writing various sections of his homilies and to offer insight into how to preach effectively the Church’s readings.
“Found Human,” is a podcast that records and shares significant stories of faith and life in the Catholic community at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. This project serves as an outreach for the New Evangelization in the Diocese of Richmond.

""THE SCANDAL OF GRACE" With new eyes can we look at people we don’t even like and see the One we Love? Let’s imagine a revolution that is gentle and magnetic, a revolution big enough to set both the oppressed and the oppressors free. With hard stories from the streets of Philly and the warzone of Iraq, Shane will invite us to reflect on the scandal of God’s inclusive love… in a world that is starved for grace. Scriptures may include: Luke 7:18-23, John 14:12."
Lecture given by Shane Claiborne on Friday, February 15, 2019. Presented by the Bishop Keane Institute, a Ministry of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
About Shane Claiborne: Shane Claiborne graduated from Eastern University and did graduate work at Princeton Seminary. In 2010, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Eastern. His adventures have taken him from the streets of Calcutta where he worked with Mother Teresa to the wealthy suburbs of Chicago where he served at the influential mega-church Willow Creek. As a peacemaker, his journeys have taken him to some of the most troubled regions of the world-from Rwanda to the West Bank-and he's been on peace delegations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Together with his friend Tony Campolo, Shane heads up Red Letter Christians, a movement of Christians committed to living out the lifestyle prescribed in the Gospels. Shane is also the visionary founder of The Simple Way, an organization in inner city Philadelphia that has helped birth and connect radical faith communities around the world. He is married to Katie Jo, a North Carolina girl who also fell in love with the city (and with Shane). They were wed in St. Edwards church, the formerly abandoned cathedral into which homeless families relocated in 1995, launching the beginning of The Simple Way community and a new phase of faith-based justice making.
Shane writes and travels extensively speaking about peacemaking, social justice, and Jesus. Shane's books include Jesus for President, Red Letter Revolution, Common Prayer, Follow me to Freedom, Jesus, Bombs and Ice Cream, Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers - and his classic The Irresistible Revolution. Shane's newest book is Executing Grace (June 2016).
Shane has been featured in a number of films, including Another World Is Possible and The Ordinary Radicals. His books are translated into more than a dozen languages. Shane speaks over 100 times a year, nationally and internationally. His work has been published in Esquire Magazine, SPIN, Christianity Today, and The Wall Street Journal. He has appeared on Fox News, Al Jazeera, CNN, and NPR. You can follow Shane on Twitter (@shaneclaiborne), Facebook (ShaneClaiborne), and www.redletterchristians.org.

Lecture given by Sister Helen Prejean on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Welcome: Cass Hooker Prayer: Carol Dufresne Skubic Intro: Vy Barto Presented by the Bishop Keane Institute, a Ministry of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
About Sr. Helen Prejean: Sr. Helen Prejean is a southern storyteller. She brings you on a journey during her talk about how she got involved with the Ministry Against the Death Penalty. Her stories are about many special people she has met along the way. She is passionate about the mission of getting rid of the Death Penalty because she has witnessed and accompanied 6 men to their executions. She feels there is no dignity or justice in this punishment. Her book, Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, was made into a movie starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, as well as an opera and a play for high schools and colleges.

Lecture given by John L. Allen, Jr. on Fri, April 22, 2016. Presented by the Bishop Keane Institute, a Ministry of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
About This Lecture: More Christians are being persecuted for their faith than any other religious community in our world today. Thousands are imprisoned, killed, or forced to flee each year. Allen will tell this important and largely unknown story, offering insights into its causes with ideas on how to work for change.
John L. Allen Jr. is the editor of Crux, an independent Catholic news site in partnership with the Knights of Columbus, and previously served both as a senior correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter and later as associate editor of the Boston Globe. He’s the senior Vatican analyst for CNN, the author of ten books on the Vatican and Catholic affairs, and a popular speaker both in the United States and abroad.
The Bishop Keane Institute, a ministry of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, takes its name and animating spirit from the fifth bishop of Richmond and the founding rector of Catholic University, John J. Keane (1839 – 1918). The Institute serves as a gathering place for learning, conversation and community. Its primary effort, the Bishop Keane Institute Lecture Series, brings the leading voices in Catholic thought, ministry and education to Hampton, VA, as a way of engaging and energizing the Hampton Roads community to participate fully in the mission of Christ’s Church. "The Heavens Proclaim: Astronomy and the Vatican"
Lecture given by Br. Guy Consolmagno on Fri, March 4, 2016. Presented by the Bishop Keane Institute, a Ministry of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
About This Lecture: The roots of the Vatican Observatory go back to the Gregorian Reform of the Calendar in 1582, and it has been part of an extensive history of Church support for astronomy (Galileo to the contrary!) Its modern mission for the last hundred years is to show there is no inherent conflict between science and religion by simply being people supported by the Church whose sole mission is to "do good science." We'll look into the history of this activity, including a summary of what's being done at the Vatican Observatory today.
