Greater conversations about community must go beyond the social to the economic. Efforts to alleviate poverty and adverse social conditions are incomplete without considering the massive problems built-in systemic inequities that make social gains difficult. A remaining of finance needs to be had in the hallowed walls all over the world. The old systems simply are not working. We have all gotten comfortable with the education systems of our day. However, we must begin to ask ourselves critical questions about the value of those systems if they don't produce large-scale benefit to our society or community. Its hard to believe the US still participates im Slavery im 2021. But this barbaric practise still exists, forcing thousands of men and women into slavery through the UNICOR Agency that has helped to create a million dollar industry. It is unfair that citizens are forced to participate in slavery when buying their favorite products and services which may be services by slavery. What is more, the mass incarceration system in the US endures that many of those who are forced are decedants of the transatlantic slave trade. For individuals who have been the victim of slabery, housing discrimination, jim crow and mass sterilization and extermination campaigns like Black Wall Street, the imperative is there to create justice and rescue human lives
Reengineering our ideas and reactions to mental health, wellness and personal choice is a key component in crafting humane communitues. We can learn from our Olympic missteps to lead with compassion and proactivity when it comes to addressing real needs in our community.
