Academic

  • There will be no math homework help with Mr. Cook Tuesday and Thursday. We'll start up again after break.

Athletics

  • Friday night the men’s and women’s swim teams competed against Jefferson Forest, LCA, EC Glass and Amherst County. The women’s team team finished 3 - 1 for the evening with victories over JF, LCA and Amherst, and their loss coming to Glass. The women were led by diver Alex Schmitt who picked up the only first place for the women. The men’s team finished 3 - 1 with their loss coming to JF by one point, 131 to 130. The men were led by quadruple winners Colby Childress, Brandon Naylor, and Daniel Pettyjohn. Also picking up wins were Cameron St. Clair and Brent Riner in relays and diver Ethan Mayfield. Two new school records were set; Ethan Mayfield set the new standard in diving points and Daniel Pettyjohn broke the 100 breaststroke team record.

Clubs

  • Attention ACE team, Debate Team, and Forensics team members! There will be no practices this week. However, there will be a Holiday Party for all 3 teams combined this Tuesday, December 17th. Please see Mr. Markey by the end of today to let him know if you will be able to attend.
  • Congratulations to the Cyber Patriot teams who competed in the State CYBER competition and posted excellent scores in all level. The Varsity team achieved the goal of competing at the Platinum level ! The JV team did a great job for their first year of competition at the Gold level. Both B-teams did a great job too representing Brookville in the Silver level. Special recognition for our All-girl B-team that placed in the top 100 teams and 12th in the state of Virginia!
  • There will be no Magic Club this week or next week. Have a Merry Christmas!!

  • Here are the results of our Friday night's swim meet.... CONGRATULATIONS TO both the Girls' and Boys' Teams who were triple winners...Defeating Heritage, Liberty, & Rustburg. Double individual event winners include:

Killian Lewis: 200 IM & 100 Breastroke

Ava Skinner: 200 Freestyle & 100 Freestyle

Arleigh Wagoner: 500 Freestyle & 100 Breastroke

  • The French club will meet this Friday in Mrs. Turner's room from 3 till 4:00 for a holiday party and to assemble the candy grams.
  • The French club is selling Noel candy grams Dec. 9-13th to be delivered on the 19th. You can send one to a friend for just 50 cents or 3 for $1.00. See Mrs. Turner or any French club member carrying a tin box.

  • Horticulture will be custom making and selling boutonnieres and corsages for ring dance. Boutonnieres will be $5 and corsages will be $15. Please see Miss Hansotte in Horticulture (room 428) to place your order, the sooner the better to secure your choice of flower color.

  • Seniors - Banker Steel is one of the top manufacturing and construction employers in our region and they are starting a 12 week Welding Apprenticeship Program for Brookville High School Students in January. Their goal is to find students that want to learn the craft of welding and leave high school with a full time job. There will be an informational meeting held at Brookville on Wednesday, Nov. 20th during 5th period. Please stop by the School Counseling Office if you want to sign up to attend this meeting.

  • Attention juniors: Ring Dance will be on Saturday, November 23rd from 8-11 in the BHS cafeteria. Tickets will go on sale starting Thursday at $15 per person. If you want to bring someone from another school, be sure to stop by the main office to grab a date form.

  • Boys soccer out of season conditioning will begin Wed. 10/30/19 at 3:00 on the middle school field. Please have a completed physical to begin workouts.

The band came from behind after finishing 9th in prelims to come in 2nd place in finals competition out of 12 bands. The band also won visual and Colorguard in their class and 2nd in percussion. Want to join this award winning group? then consider joining winter colorguard! This awards winning winter group will be auditioning Monday Wednesday and Friday from 3:30-5:30.   • The Mentor/Leadership class is collecting plastic water bottles. You'll notice the boxes around the school. Please try recycle and place your empty water bottles in boxes!
  • Date forms for the dance, "A Starry Night" are available BEFORE or AFTER school this week. Forms must be approved before tickets can be purchased. Forms must be returned to me, Mrs. Enloe in room 212. Do not return forms to the office! Information on purchasing tickets will be forth coming.
  • Remember, yearbooks will only be $75 until December. Order them before the price increases! If you are interested in a payment plan, talk to Mrs. Brumfield.

If you are interested in joining the military or if you would like to take the ASVAB to help you with figuring out a potential career, sign up in the school counseling office.   • Green Team has boxes with green signs on them in classrooms for recycling paper. We would apprecaite any donations of other non broken down cardboard boxes. Please take the boxes to Ms. Cardwell's room (426). Green Team Meets every Friday right after school, so please join us!
  • Attention Debate Team: we will have practice this week on Thursday, October 10th from 3-5pm. We will discuss entries into the 1st tournament of the year, so please make plans to attend.

  • The first meeting of our trivia team here at BHS called the ACE team will be on Wednesday, September 4th from 3-4pm in Mr. Markey's room 316. Come join to have a chance to win a state championship for knowing random facts!
  • Sign ups are going on NOW for the tailgate party on Friday night!! Get your name on the list for food count and invite your friends! The theme is Catch A Wave - dress in you best Hawaiian outfits and get ready to have some serious fun! This is open to all BHS students to attend! It is FREE!!! Party starts at 5:30!

There will be a girls basketball meeting in the health room right after school today (Tuesday). for girls interested in playing Jv or Varsity Basketball this winter.

There will be a girls softball meeting in the Health room Thursday right after school for JV and Varsity players.

Attention students! There is still time to join SWARM! Club fee is $20 and includes all home tailgates, a t-shirt, and other special events this year! See Mrs Lester to join.
