Ted and Gayle Haggard were in studio for an interview with Doug. Ted was in Boise for the Hope For Hurting People weekend taking place at Deer Flat Church.
Ted Haggard is the founding pastor of St. James Church in Colorado Springs, CO, the second church he and his wife, Gayle, have started since their marriage in 1978. He also serves as the Director of Church Planting for The River Conference of the Free Methodist Church and founder and coordinator of The Network of Redemptive Churches.
In November 2006, Mike Jones publicly alleged he'd engaged in a three-year sexual relationship with the pastor, which Ted immediately denied. Three days after the scandal broke and after a voice mail featuring Ted asking Mike for drugs was released, Ted's story unraveled. Eventually, Ted admitted to sexual immorality and to buying drugs. He later resigned from the church he helped to found.
Four years later, in the summer of 2010, Ted and Gayle started St. James Church in their barn before purchasing an office building and auditorium for weekly services. Gayle released a New York Times best-selling book titled Why I Stayed in 2010, and her second book, Courageous Grace, in 2013.

She serves as a member of the leadership team of the mission, and is currently Hands-on in palliative care and disaster response around the globe.

Calvin Roberts is trying to earn a spot in the NBA. Back in January he started to train, lifting weights, living in the gym. Roberts sent letters to eight different teams around league to provoke some interest. Roberts was drafted in the 4th round, 83rd overall by San Antonio in the 1980 NBA Draft. He even played 15 seasons of pro basketball overseas for teams in Spain, Italy, Israel, Turkey, Istanbul, and even won a championship in Austria.

God's truth is solid, immovable, and unchangeable. However, we struggle sometimes to stay on and keep our balance on the Boogie Board.
Research conducted by Microsoft found that the average human attention span has fallen from twelve seconds to eight seconds. That unremarkable low means that we have now fallen below goldfish with their estimated attention span somewhere in the giddy heights of nine seconds. What does this mean as we preach and teach? How do you teach doctrine in today's culture always seeking instant gratification?

Heritage Academy in Hagerstown, Maryland says that senior Maddi Runkles broke the school’s rules by engaging in intimate sexual activity and will not be allowed to attend graduation. Doug takes some time to talk this story through. Although it can seem like a great move of Christian piety, Doug suggests that school is missing a crucial opportunity to share (and show) the Gospel!

Get out here Charlie Brown! A School censors a "Charlie Brown Christmas" poster.
Dedra Shannon, a staffer at Patterson Middle School in Killeen, Texas, was so inspired by the scene in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, when Linus stands on a stage and recites a passage from the Holy Bible describing the Christmas story, that she decided to use images to decorate the door to the nurse’s office.
The decorations included a picture of Linus, the scrawny Christmas tree and that classic passage of dialogue about the true meaning of the holiday.
The decorations were installed on December 5. On December 7, Ms. Shannon was confronted by the school’s principal and told she needed to take the poster because it violated the US Constitution.

Retirement in America is so often viewed as a time to stop and simply play cards or golf all day. In America we created a culture of disdain towards the older generation. This attitude is even in the Church. Do we walk into a Church with a silver haired congregation and think about the many years of experience they can offer or do we scoff and think we can't connect with them.

Texas will require burial of aborted fetuses. Texas approved new rules this week requiring health care facilities that perform abortions to bury the fetal remains instead of disposing of them in a sanitary landfill like other forms of biological medical waste. The rules, which go into effect on Dec. 19, state that a fetus can either be buried directly after an abortion has been performed or it can be buried or scattered after it has been incinerated. Schools are providing puppies and massages to ease exam stress. With final exams approaching, some universities are offering their students stress relief measures such as puppies, acupuncture, and massages to ensure they don’t get too stressed out.

The Christian church is exploding underground in Iran despite oppression. In an article by Carlos Garcia, experts say that the Christian church in Iran is growing by leaps and bounds in the shadow of an oppressive and hostile Islamic regime.
Iran grew hostile to Western values, including freedom of religion, after the 1979 Iranian Revolution when the government friendly to the U.S. was replaced by Islamic extremists. Now it appears that many Iranians are growing restless with the austere Muslim culture and looking to the Christian church for spiritual fulfillment.
Also, 2,000-year-old lead tablets found in a remote cave. An ancient set of lead tablets showing the earliest portrait of Jesus Christ have proved to be around 2,000 years old, according to experts. The metal 'pages', held together like a ring binder, were found in Jordan in around 2008 by an Jordanian Bedouin and make reference to Christ and his disciples.

Today is Mark's Brithday and Mark brings in a guest, Monica Forbes. Monica is the Executive Director of the P.E.E.R. Wellness Center. Monica is a person in long-term recovery and a Recovery Coach who brings over 15 years of experience in training, business management, customer service, and social work to PEER Wellness Center. She holds two degrees, in Medical Assisting and Social Work, and she is on the Honor Roll as she works towards a BS in Psychology with a focus on Addictions. She is married to her best friend, has four daughters and three grandchildren.
