We're heavy on sports chatter but will definitely be branching out into movies, music, pop culture and almost anything else. There will be close to zero talk on religion or politics, but pretty much anything goes.
One Timers is a chance to get to know the guest of Sports And More the podcast. We ask about teams, athletes and sports they loved as kids as well as movies, music and who they'd like to have dinner and play golf with.
I first met Mark Pysyk in a cold arena outside of Edmonton before the Oil Kings made him their first ever bantam draft pick. He was shy and quiet then and let his game do the talking. 14 years later he's an 8 year NHL veteran and joined me recently on episode 60. I set him up for some One Timers about growing up in Edmonton cheering for the enemy, some of his favourite movies, music and memories as well as who would be in his dream golf foursome.
You can find past episodes and more at www.Sportsandmore.ca.
Mark Pysyk was the first ever bantam draft pick of the modern day Edmonton Oil Kings and he would go on to help them win a WHL Championship 5 years after they rejoined the league. He has spent 8 years in the NHL, split between Buffalo and Florida before signing with Dallas this odd off season. We discussed being a UFA for the first time, hockey and life in a bubble, the Florida hockey scene as well as his time with the Oil Kings. We also did word association with some of his teammates during his career. Mark is a great guy who always had time to chat as a player and it was great to catch up.
The Weekly Tribute is to Rob and Grace Zittlau who tragically lost their lives last weekend in an auto accident. Rob was the man behind ICU Video, a production company that had a massive impact on amateur sports in Edmonton and throughout the province and country. He was a tireless worker and a perfectionist of the best kind. His drive, ingenuity and spirit will be missed along with his beautiful wife Grace. The Top 3 presented by Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports is about the 3 dumb things people do in horror movies. The UFFS poll question is your favourite Oil King memory and in Perfect Player it's horror villains!!!!

AJ Jakubec of TSN 1200 has seen some great events live and has some fun sports memories. I set him up for some One Timers to find out a little bit more about him.
You can find past episodes and more at www.Sportsandmore.ca.
This is Sports and More where almost anything goes, we mostly stay away from politics and always steer clear of religion (sports gods don’t count) but from sports to pop culture and in between it’s all fair game!
AJ Jakubec is the voice of the Redblacks, 67's and Atletico in Ottawa and will be paying close attention to the draft where the Senators have picks three and five. Who they take at 3 depends on doesn't go ahead of them (Byfield or Stutzle) but at five they will have some choices and AJ thinks they'll be looking at a blueliner. We also discussed his very serious health scare and battle last winter, which he is thankfully on the mend from thanks to support from family, friends and frontline health care workers. We also chatted about the upcoming OHL season, if there is one and what the CFL will do moving forward. We ended with some name association about players and coaches he's been around and debated about long bus trips in the WHL vs OHL vs QMJHL.
The Top 3 Topic presented by Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports is about your favourite draft eligible players for the 2020 draft while the UFFS poll question is who would be the scariest when it comes to horror monsters if they were real and in Perfect Player it's 2020 draft eligible forwards.

This week Hall of Fame goalie and five time Stanley Cup Champion Grant Fuhr joined me on Sports and More and I fired some One Timers at the goalie Wayne Gretzky says is the best of all time. From sports and memories as a kid to the 3 others he spend 4.5 hours on the golf course.
You can hear past episodes and more at www.SportsAndMore.ca
This week it was such a pleasure to welcome Grant Fuhr to the show. He was the backbone of the Oilers in the 80's, was a star for Canada and rightfully was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. However, Grant's journey wasn't without adversity. From injuries to own goals to being railroaded by the NHL without a positive drug test. Through it all Fuhr has kept an incredibly positive attitude and is always the most gracious person in the room. It was great to spend time with him on the podcast where we went back to the beginning to when he started out having to wear wrong handed equipment to wearing the old face masks and the 1987 Canada Cup. We also did a little word association with some of his former goalie partners. The Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports Top 3 Topic is underrated super stars in honour of the recently passed Dale Hawerchuk. You can hear his full episode, past episodes and more at www.SportsandMore.ca.
Derek Van Diest of Post Media and NHL.com has always been a guy I have admired and respected. He's opinionated without being offensive and passionate about sports. He joined me to recap the NHL's draft lottery and how relieved the league must be that the Oilers or Penguins didn't win the Lafreniere Lottery. DVD told me what watching hockey in a near empty arena is like and we discussed the reasons the Edmonton Oilers are no longer in the bubble. What changes need/will be made for next year and if Jesse Puljujarvi fits in. What mistakes were made in the playoff series and what were some of the positives? We also went through every playoff series. Watch for One Timers later in the week with DVD. Our Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports Top 3 is your Conn Smythe Trophy candidates while the UFFS poll question is will Alexis Lafreniere put up 90 or more points next year. I give my reasons why he just might put up the most points by a Calder Trophy winner since Ovechkin. Perfect Player this episode is WHL. Take 3 players, past or present to make the Perfect Player.

You own the players, as digital assets and can buy, sell or trade them to build a championship team. A very cool scouting option as well if you don't want to be an owner and this is one fantasy league that includes the playoffs. Our Top 3 Topic was about dysfunctional franchises while our poll question was who takes the Pacific Division?

Who is the greatest Finnish hockey player of all time? Just one of the questions I had for my friend Jouni Nieminen, a freelance writer originally from Finland. I also wanted to chat with him about Jesse Puljujarvi's situation, but those questions took a back seat after Jouni had a serious health scare. An interview that was supposed to take place in August was pushed back and I'm just glad it took place at all. Jouni has helped raise a lot of money playing in 6 World's Longest Hockey Games and one of the baseball variety. Jamie Thomas stopped by in Fantasy Fun Time to discuss how I'm rebuilding, who's is Patrik Laine's new centre now that Brian Little is out for a month and why he started Andy Daulton in Fantasy Football this week.
