Live from the Eureka Heights taproom we spoke with Brent, the Ambassador of Buzz, about what the brewery has been up to since we last spoke to them. Since their previous visit to the show Eureka Heights has been awarded a gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival for the best American-style cream ale with their Buckle Bunny. The beer is always on point and the events they host match, as we hosted the podcast they were running 3 different themed events at the brewery and always come up with interesting ways to bring you back to the taproom. You should always grab a Eureka Heights beer when you have the chance and give anyone wearing their shirts a high five, they'll appreciate it.

We were also joined by Matt Sonzala, the creator of Pushermania and overall OG to the Houston hip hop scene. He swung down to Houston before taking off with Devin The Dude for his European tour and dropped infinite amounts of game on all of us. Going back to the early days of the internet and chat forums Matt and Brent have actually been running in similar circles for years and made for a great episode as they reminisced on the way the rap culture in Houston and in general has changed throughout the years. He also went deep into how an artist should be approaching their touring as they come up and stressed the importance of getting out to new cities to show face and spread your name. Overall a wonderful episode we hope you enjoy!

National IPA Day episode! Our good friend James Brown - don't worry we asked how he was feeling - from Ballast Point Brewing came by for his second episode with us. The brewery has been known for their popular award winning Sculpin IPA for years and have set the standard for several breweries on recreating this style. Along with the original Sculpin the brewery has created several fruit infused versions of the IPA, as well recently releasing their new Double IPA the 'Manta Ray' and their hoppy blonde ale 'Bonito'. James is currently touring his wide range of accounts celebrating a Summer of Sculpin so keep up with his whereabouts in the city to enjoy some of this brewery's delicious beers!

Ca$h Fendi, half of local rap group The Tribe, came by the show to discuss his influences, top 5 rappers, and the process behind getting his new solo project put together for a December release. He recently put out a video for his freestyle over the popular Lil Pump song 'D Rose' and has a ton of great work headed your way so keep up with his music and check out his video at the link below.

The episode we've wanted to record for a year now finally happened! Our good friends from Houston progressive metal band 'Agamemnon' came by the show to drink some beer, recap their past tour, and talk new music & videos. Consisting of 4 talented musicians (Thomas on bass, Tim & Aaron on guitars, and Jon on drums) they have been able to create music that is definitive to its style while being able to reach all crowds, even from outside of the metal fanbase. They are an example of music made well on all fronts, not a single piece of their group slacks or gets left behind and at a live show they are something to really take in and pay attention. Their first album was self titled and can be found at the link provided below as well as their newest single. Be on the lookout for all things Agamemnon because to sleep on them would only be a disservice to yourself. We couldn't do a Houston beer podcast with a metal band on without including Brash Brewing! Robbie came out on behalf of the entire crew and brought a slew of their untouchable lineup of beers. Brash burst on the scene as hard as a brewery possibly can and within their first year of business founded a deep root in the city. With some of the best and most aggressive IPAs and stouts out in the state of Texas it's easy to say Brash has yet to miss on a single beer. While they thrive in the extremely hoppy and coffee they have homered on their kettle sour with TRVE Brewing from Denver, as well as Knutsens Farm, their take on Saint Arnold's classic 'Weedwacker'. The Houston beer culture has become a beast over the past 5 years and the emergence of Brash has taken it to even further heights. Go to the brewery for a full on experience of arcade games, heavy metal, and pint of Pussy Wagon!

Agamemnon can be found on all social media under: AgamemnonHTX

Their music can be found at: https://agamemnonhtx.bandcamp.com/

Brash can be found on Facebook at Brash brewing company and on twitter @brashbeer

Local rapper Noie J and producer Baker Yung came by the show and we had a great conversation about making music that really inspires people when they listen to it and what goes into making that music. Baker has quickly become one of the city's hottest producers working with all of your favorite rappers and producing almost all of Noie J's music. After his album 'Do You Feel It?' Noie has seen a huge pop and it's something he knew would happen since day 1. He has a confidence in his vision that can't be shaken and the right mindset to make it happen so get used Baker Yung and Noie J before it's too late!

James from Sixpoint Brewing came on the show to discuss his experience in the Houston craft beer scene over the past decade and how it's translated to his role with Sixpoint. He brought by their entire core group of beers: Sweet Action, Resin, The Crisp, Bengali, as well as their limited release Puff and we thoroughly enjoyed quite a few of each leading to several other topics of conversation and a Ray Romano impression. Join him at Moontower Inn July 25th to celebrate Matt LeBlanc's birthday! We also had rapper Hot Peez, Louisiana transplant and half of the duo Don P with Donnie Houston, come through and talk about his previous projects and the inspiration behind the Lagniappe EP. Peez will be releasing a solo project very soon so be on the lookout!

It's time Houston wakes the fuck up on the unparalleled dope shit coming up in this city before it passes you up and there was no better example of that than Bloomfest II. The Eat Good & Prosper team put together their festival with the goal to bring together some of the greatest talents in the city with performances from DJ Mr. Rogers, OG Bobby Billions, OG Che$$, Noie J, and Young Black Willie Nelson himself: Tim Woods. This was a concert to celebrate everything Tim and his entire team are about, turning up with the family and enjoying the vibes they create with their own hard work. Going against the grain the whole EGP team understands it's up to them to be the voice for the long list of talent not being featured by the city's publications and Bloomfest 2 was a perfect example of what's happening that too many are still sleep on. The energy was high all night and everyone in attendance was there for a productive reason and the outcome was a night unlike any other in the city of Houston.

Christen from 3 Nations Brewing out of Farmer's Branch came by to talk about the brewery and their delicious beers. They take a few German styles and put an American spin on them and come out with a great result. She also owns her own company 'Hoppy Heat' where she makes several different hot sauces with craft beers as the base. We all tried them and got ballsy toward the end to our own dismay. My'Key Iso also came by to discuss his music and upcoming project 'Last Name Iso' and what to expect from it. My'Key does a lot of story telling in his songs and takes us into the process of making music from those stories. From Inglewood to Houston Freddy ING has been making great music for years and just recently released his best project yet with 'In the Name of God'. With help from a few people mentioned in this episode and the hard work he puts in rapping, singing, and producing Freddy truly orchestrated an entire collection of un-skippable songs. We also had Brent Bailey from Whole Foods come by and discuss the Brewfest his company was a part of, as well as New England IPAs in Houston, and also the feelings that come with a brewery selling out. Somehow Brent was first to make his instagram name 'craftbeerhouston' so give him a follow and check out the newest beers he's enjoying while listening to some vinyls. Houston's oldest craft brewery Saint Arnold was our guest this week. Their sales rep and previous guest Ben came by to discuss their newest beers to hit taps and shelves. We started on the Pub Crawl Pale Ale which is the perfect beer for the occasion it's named after, light alcohol content with a ton of flavor. Secondly we went over their Raspberry AF, a delicious fruited kettle sour which is a take on their now discontinued Boiler Room Berliner Weisse. Catch both at your favorite bars and stores! We had Houston comedian Gabe Bravo and Community Brewing's Briley Samples come and hang out with us at our new location. Gabe is one of the owners of Houston's most popular comedy venue 'The Secret Group' and also hosts several events around town such as the GODDAMNIT! Comedy Show on Thursdays at Avant Garden. Along with several stand up acts and comedy shows The Secret Group is also a great bar to hang out at any night of the week with several other events and specials. Briley has been selling Community beer in Houston for about a year now and has quickly turned some of their flagship beers into must haves in all respected beer bars around town. She came through with their new Oaked Mosaic, an IPA aged with oak spirals to impart some interesting additional flavors to the hop character. Look for events weekly around town and expect to see Briley there hosting them as well as at several beer festivals this summer!
