At Cornerstone Chapel, it is our desire that you see the love of Jesus Christ reflected through the systematic, verse by verse teaching of the Bible and through heart-felt, contemporary worship lifted up to God.
On this special evening, we came together to worship and hear powerful testimonies of what God has done in various women's lives, and how He has been faithful to them every step of the way.
Terri Hamrick shares her heart behind the reason why we are reading through the Bible as women at Bible Study and all of the confirmations that the Lord showed her along the way. Our theme verse is 1 Timothy 4:13 "Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of scripture?"
Stephanie Griffiths and Deborah Krasheninnikov shared powerful testimonies with the women of how God drew them to Himself and then has continued to show Himself faithful every step of the way as they have followed His leading.
We need the truth of God's Word for each season of our life. In this teaching, Ruth Chou Simons goes through the life of Joseph in Genesis 37-50 and each season he walked through. Joseph held fast to the Lord, knowing He was with him through whatever season He walked through. Rest in the promises of God, rehearse the truth of who God says you are and who He is, respond in faith to His truths, and remember His provision to sustain you time and time again.
Sue Dengler has truly tasted and seen of the goodness of God. He's done far and above what she could ever thought or imagined through some of the toughest trials of life. He has brought her back to life and restored her soul many times. She wants her life to be a testimony of God's love and grace, proclaiming His goodness and singing His praises.
Kelly Minter takes us through the story of Christmas and the genealogy of Jesus that shows how God was weaving a beautiful story way before Jesus even came to earth, so that he could redeem us and save us from our sins. In this teaching we discover what our heart really wants this Christmas.
Darling is a former Muslim who has received Christ as her Savior. She was raised in Nigeria as a Muslim by her father, though her mother was Christian. As a young girl, Jesus appeared to her in a dream. She shares her story and her joy in the Lord through the gift of song. You will hear of her experiences and perspective on how God is reaching Muslims and bringing them to faith in Christ. Darling has a beautiful gentle spirit and radiates with the joy of the Lord. We know that you will be blessed to hear her story!
Arlette experienced things early in life that caused a great deal of confusion and heartache. There didn't seem to be anyone to turn to who could give her good advice or help her understand the way she should go. However, she always hoped in God -- until something happened that completely shattered her world and caused her to question how God felt about her, or if He even existed. Her hope in God wore thin, but God never gave up on her. Eventually, her desire for the truth led her to God's Word and freedom from the painful past.
Kathy shared her testimony with us and talked through these questions, "When your world gets rocked, how do you respond? Do you fall at the foot of the cross? Do you trust God or self? Do you wait patiently upon Him or allow your own thoughts and feelings to dictate your response? Do you find peace in the storm or do you hang on for dear life? Do you allow Him to be your strength when called to do things beyond your ability? Or do you say no to opportunities? Do you trust God with your future or do you live in fear?"
Sue knew the love and grace of God from an early age, growing up in a Christian Lutheran home. However, she didn't have a depth of knowledge and understanding of God's Word and His sustaining strength. Sue will be sharing how she learned the ultimate power of God's Word and sustaining strength through everyday challenges and living.
Sandy's testimony is a story of redemption, restoration, and sanctification. Jesus rescued her from severe neglect and abuse, and subsequent self-harming behaviors. He has made her more than just an overcomer ? Jesus is using her in the process of lifting others up from Satan's grip. Her story is a testimony of the transformative power of Jesus Christ!
God's existence, His reality, His love and power manifested themselves in her life despite her circumstances and despite herself. Annamaria personally witnessed the Romanian revolution of 1989 through which God broke the chains of communism in her country. But the bigger miracle was the work He did in her soul. She became a believer in an atheist country with no believers in her immediate family. Yet God took her from where she was and gave her a purpose and a calling. God opened doors so that she could come and study in the United States. She was able to return to her own country as a missionary counselor and later to meet and marry her husband. Her testimony is His story.
Anita Lawrence shared her testimony with us on Tuesday, October 18. Anita's testimony is one of many trials but through it all, God has shown her mercy and tenderness through her pain and suffering. By sharing her story, Anita prays that you will be encouraged to surrender all your cares and concerns over to our Lord so you will continue to grow in Christ.
Caitlin Jane started attending Cornerstone in February of 2016 with her husband Jamie. The young couple has walked an unexpected journey, filled with pain, beauty, and miracles leading up to their wedding one year ago. Caitlin was diagnosed with an "inoperable" brain tumor in 2014 and Jamie battled cancer, enduring 9 weeks of chemo just before their wedding. Through it all, God?s love has been ever enduring and faithful. As a singer and songwriter, Caitlin Jane uses her music ministry to share their testimony and the hope of Jesus Christ through the "Beautiful Mess" of life. In Philippians 3:12-21 we see that Paul?s aim and goal was to know Christ and to press towards the goal and keep running the race set before him. Am I pursuing the prize of knowing Jesus?
In Philippians 3:1 we are exhorted to ?Rejoice in the Lord.? In this teaching Terri talks about choosing to rejoice even if our circumstances don?t make us joyful, because God is worthy of our praise and we can rejoice in Him. Joy is a deep down confidence that God is sovereign and because He is, All is Well.
Susie Smith shared with us the amazing story of how the Lord brought her family to adopt a little boy from Uganda. Susie shared how through this journey she learned that as we step out in faith, God shows up in powerful and tangible ways. We live life to the fullest when we allow God to guide us into the unknown, trusting Him to provide and meet our every need.
This teaching focuses on verse 12 and 13 and that "working out" our salvation does not mean to "work for" our salvation but rather that we are to "cultivate" our salvation. As a farmer fertilizes his crop and pulls the weeds, that is what we are called to do so that we can grow fruit. Reading God's Word and repenting of our sin are some of the ways that our faith can be cultivated. We cannot do this on our but God can help us, He is our cultivator and will give us the strength to do it.
Susan Schmeltz shares the amazing testimony of what God has done in her and her family's life after they surrendered their lives to Him.
In this passage of Philippians we learn that our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. May we seek the Lord each day asking Him to help us have His attitude in everything that we do.
Through this teaching we see that Paul endured chains for Christ, rejoiced in Christ proclaimed, was eager for Christ exalted, desired Christ in death, was one with Christ in life, and he labored for Christ our joy. Paul had distinct vision for a clear image of Christ in the radiant light of His glory, which was the fixed point for his life. We must keep our focus on Jesus and behold Him. Are you beholding Christ today?

In Luke 2 we read the story of when Jesus, our Savior and Deliverer, was born. As the angels came to tell the shepherds not to be afraid, we can "fear not" because we have a Savior. The Savior had come and would change their situation for His glory and bring them through. That is why they were encouraged to "Fear Not". In the same way, the presence of Jesus in our life should bring the absence of fear and the presence of Joy!
Thanksgiving should be a daily heart attitude, not just a day we celebrate. God is worth of our thanks and praise each day! Throughout this teaching we go over three questions: Why should I give thanks? How do I give thanks? What are the blessings of giving thanks?
In these opening verses of Philippians, we read of Paul and study about his life and how he was obedient to God to travel wherever he was called. His obedience to God to travel to Philippi, reaped a reward of eternal value. Are we allowing God to place us where He wants us to so we can be used for His eternal purpose?
We are continuing to study the godly characteristics of Paul. Throughout the book of Philippians, we see that Paul placed his confidence in God alone. He was confident that God would give him the strength he needed for any situation and he was confident that God would finish the work that he had started in Paul. May we be confident in God and confident in what He will do in our lives because He is a good Father.
In this study through Philippians we continue studying the characteristics of Paul that we can learn from. Paul always gave thanks to God, giving thanks was a priority for him. Paul was also a man of prayer. In this teaching we dig deeper learning about giving thanks like Paul did and about praying for others.
Throughout the book of Philippians we see many Christ like characteristics of Paul. Over the next few weeks we will discover 10 characteristics of Paul and we can ask ourselves if others can see this in our lives. In this teaching we cover the first characteristic: Being a bondservant of Christ. As a bondservant we simply choose to serve God out of our love for Him and we become His forever. Do other see me as a bondservant of Christ? Am I serving God simply out of love and counting the cost to follow Him wholeheartedly?
Who or what robs us of our joy? In this teaching we study five things that can steal our joy: the devil, unconfessed sin, self-centeredness, anxiety, and comparison. As we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we can find true joy in Him and not let any of these things rob us of joy.
This week we continue to look at the theme of Philippians, which is Joy! We read the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16 and how they continued to have joy even in chains.
The theme of Philippians is Joy! In this teaching we learn how we can rejoice in the Lord no matter our circumstances.
Terri starts off the book of Philippians with an introduction to the book and reading through the scriptures.
At our Evening Retreat, Lenya Heitzig shares from Psalm 37:4-5. She takes a deeper look at what it means to delight in God and fully trusting Him in everything. We will see God do amazing things when we are looking for Him to work, seeking Him, delighting in Him, and trusting Him with all of our heart.
In Ephesians 6, we are told to put on the armor of God. We will not be able to stand against the wiles of the enemy unless we have on the whole armor of God. The armor God provides for us to put on is the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes with the preparation of the Gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit.
In Ephesians 6, we see that God calls us to obedience. In this teaching we focus on learning the importance of children obeying their parents because God commands it. In the Word, parents are commanded to train up their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. As children obey their parents, they will learn what it means to obey God and submit to Him.
In Ephesians 5:21-33 we see how God calls us to walk in submission. Specifically in this passage, we learn about submission in marriage and what that can mean in our lives. As you choose to submit to and respect your husband, God sees and is pleased.
Carrie Holdcraft shares her testimony with us at our Women's Spring Tea. Carrie's testimony is God's story of His Sovereignty in her life and His faithfulness to the promises of His Word. She encourages the women that no matter what the circumstances are that come into our lives, they are no surprise to God. Trusting in God's Sovereignty and His Word will sustain us through any circumstance. Psalm 50:15 "Call unto Me in your time of trouble; I will answer you and you will give Me glory."
In this teaching we learn about 5 ways that we are called to walk in our Christian life: walk Worthy, walk like God, walk in love, walk in light, and walk in wisdom. We dig deeper in this study to learn what each of these mean and how we can walk in each of these things.
In this time of teaching we learn about the "old man" and the "new man". In this passage, Paul talks about how we are to live as Christians. We are to put off the things of the world and put on those things that are pleasing to Christ.
Through this study in Ephesians 4, we learn how God calls us to walk in unity and what that looks like in our life. We are challenged by three questions: Does my behavior benefit the work of God? Do my words bless the Kingdom of God? Does my life bring honor and praise to God?
In Ephesians 2 we come across two words that change our lives forever?.But God. In this study we learn how we were dead in our sin but God didn?t leave us that way. He made a sacrifice through the blood of Jesus Christ to bring us close to Him forever. What amazing love! We also discover that God is our Peace. That means that our fulfillment, wholeness, completeness, safety and abundance is in Him alone.
In Ephesians 1 we learn about the 9 spiritual blessings that God have given to those who are His children. We are chosen, we are loved, we are predestined, we are adopted, we are accepted, we are redeemed, we are forgiven, we are saved and we are sealed. God has given us these blessings so that He would be glorified in our lives. In this teaching we dig deeper into the meaning of each of these blessings.
In this introduction to the book of Ephesians we see that Paul wanted the Ephesians to grasp the purpose and mission for their life. In Christ, we have an eternal purpose, we are chosen and accepted in the beloved. How amazing is the love of God for each of us! May we grasp His love as we study through the book of Ephesians.
In Galatians 5:16-26 we are encouraged to live by the Spirit, walk in the Spirit and keep in step in the Spirit. The only way we can live lives that are not in the flesh is by living completely dependent on the Holy Spirit, being sensitive to His voice and obedient to Him. As we abide in Christ, He will fill us and the fruit of the Spirit will flow from our lives.
In Galatians 5:1 we read of the amazing truth that Christ has set us free. During this teaching, Cynthia Weimerskirch shares her beautiful testimony of how the Lord has set her free from her past and the bondage that held her captive. You will be so encouraged by her beautiful story of how the Lord pursued her and has set her free and healed her from the pain of her past.
In Galatians 4, we see how the Lord has set us free and He wants us to live in freedom rather than in bondage. We must choose to live in His freedom!
In Galatians 4 we are encouraged in the fact that God has redeemed us and that we now have the privilege of calling Him Abba Father. What a gift we have been given, in that we are no longer slaves but sons and heirs of God.
In this teaching, we consider how Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. God has given us so many promises in His Word for every situation we will face, we must only believe those promises, just like Abraham did.
In Galatians 3:1-9 we see Paul confronting the Galatians because they had turned away from grace and were going back to their ways of legalism and works. We are encouraged to be so careful that we don?t let anything cloud our vision of Jesus and the truth we find in the Word of God.
In Galatians 2, we see that the main theme is that is our salvation is based on Gods grace and grace alone. We can't add anything to it but just believe and receive God's grace.
In Galatians 1:11-24 Paul talks about the Gospel. Join us in this study as we discover what the Gospel is and see how Paul's life was changed by the Gospel which brought glory to God. Do you have a loved one in your life who does not know Jesus and does not believe the Gospel? Never stop praying for them, no one is too hard for God to reach.
In Galatians 1, we see how Paul called himself a bondservant of Jesus Christ. Paul was not always following after Christ, so in this study we go back to the book of Acts to see the amazing conversion of Paul, formerly known as Saul. We all have a testimony to share and God has a ministry for each one of us, just as He did for Paul. What is your testimony? What ministry has God given to you?
On this special evening, Janie Alfred shares with us through 2 Corinthians 3 where we learn that God brings us through trials so we can learn to trust Him and realize that we are not sufficient in ourselves but that we need Him! Janie shares some of her amazing testimony and how the Lord brought her through such trying times but it was only as she would behold God that she realized she could make it through. When we go through trials we learn that we can trust in God, He won't fail us. When we behold Him we see His faithfulness, and goodness and His unfailing love. Beholding God enables us to go through the storms and through life knowing we can trust Him, He is good. Are you beholding Him?
In Acts 21, we see how Paul lived his life wholeheartedly for the Lord, no matter what happened on his journey. He was able to continue on the path God had him, no matter the circumstance because he was confident of 4 things: Our life belongs to the Lord, God is in control, God is in charge, and nothing can happen in our life but what God allows.
In Acts 20, we follow along with Paul as he continues his missionary journey of telling others the Good News of Jesus Christ. We learn how Paul is such an amazing example to us of one who is willing to give up everything for the sake of knowing Jesus Christ and making him known throughout the world.
In Acts 19, we see the boldness that Paul had to share the gospel and are encouraged to make a stand for righteousness and live our lives boldly for Christ.
In Acts 16, we learn about what it means to bring a sacrifice of praise to God, despite our circumstances or how we feel. Paul and Silas chose to rejoice and praise the Lord even while they were imprisoned and they saw God do great things as they chose to worship and their perspective changed.
In Acts 15, we study the amazing gift of salvation that we have been given. Terri points out three things: Salvation is not difficult (Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:4-9), Salvation is not distant (Deuteronomy 30:11-12), Salvation is not discriminating (John 1:12, John 3:16, Romans 10:4).
In Acts 14, we follow Paul on his missionary journey and are reminded that there are many Christians missionaries today who are persecuted for their faith. We need to remember to pray for them daily.
In Acts 13, we see how the Holy Spirit was very active in the early church. We see how the Holy Spirit spoke to the believers, sent them out and filled them for the work He called them to do. Are we listening when the Holy Spirit speaks to us, are we ready to obey when He is calling us?
In Acts 12, we learn about the sovereignty of God, the importance of intercessory prayer, and that God will not give His glory to another.
In Acts 11 there are three questions that we are challenged with: As Christian women can we sense where God is leading and decide to go in the same direction? As Christian women do we have hearts soft enough to be guided and corrected by God? As Christian women do we allow our prejudices and traditions to be overcome by God's word and God's work?
In Acts 10 we study about Peter being called by God to visit Cornelius. We learn the important truth that God always prepares our hearts and gives us instruction and everything we need when He calls us to do something. God wants to use us as His messengers, are we listening for His voice when He calls?
In Acts 9, we take a look at Saul's conversion, and how through adversity God molds us into more mature women that are like Jesus.
In Acts 8, Terri shares the eight contrasting characteristics between Philip and Simon, the Sorcerer. We can learn so much from Philip and apply these truths to our lives.
In Acts 6, we learn about a situation where the enemy meant something for evil but God turned it around for good.
Dr. Anne Stewart talks about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle with the "Top 10 Things to do for Overall Health".
In Acts 5, we see the first incidence of lying in the New Testament church. God will not tolerate lying among his people and deals with it right away. Terri shares with us how Satan is the father of lies and is out to devour the church with lying. We must listen to the truth of God's Word that we won't be pulled away.
In this chapter, we learn about Peter and John and how they were imprisoned for spreading the gospel. Amidst this trial they continued to spread the gospel and lift up the name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved.
Terri teaches through Acts 3 as we learn about healing that God brings, and the 6 characteristics of a Spirit filled life.
Pastor Gary joins us to share on Acts chapter 2 and the indwelling along with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He ends our time with a Q&A regarding the Holy Spirit.
As we study Acts chapter 1, we learn the importance of asking the Holy Spirit to come upon us so we can have His power within us to be His witnesses.
