Exposure provides a forum for student groups and area non-profits at Michigan State University and the Greater Lansing area. On the show, you'll hear discussions about the groups themselves as well as the relevant issues of today.
In this episode of Exposure, host Tessa Kresch spotlights the student theater group, They’re So Dramatic. We learn about the club’s mission to empower women and gender non-binary individuals in theater, as well as their unique approach to inclusive casting and community building. Guests share their personal experiences and the diverse opportunities available within the group.
In this episode of Exposure, Tessa Kresch interviews members of N Crowd, a student organization at Michigan State University designed as a creative safe space for students to express themselves through fashion, photography, and art. N Crowd aims to empower students to embrace creativity and provides a platform to showcase their work. Guests include Maddie Incammicia, Damond Hardwick, Brendon Sims and Brandon Williams. They discuss the organization’s mission, activities, and impact on members’ college experiences and professional growth.

The Ronald McDonald house of mid-Michigan is a hospitality house that is specific for serving families that have critically ill children receiving medical treatment in their local hospitals and clinics. They have their annual Run for the House race happening from March 26th - 28th! Normally, the race is a large in-person event, but that all changed last year and this years events. This year, it is offered virtually and open course!

CLUED was established in May 2020 in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. It is an organization designed to support students and provide them with resources needed to excel academically and mentally during the COVID-19 pandemic. They aim to recruit change-makers and assist them in tackling challenges community by community on a national scale. The Borgen Project is a national innovative campaign that works to eliminate extreme poverty by making it the focus of U.S. foreign policy. Lansing and East Lansing both have community recognition and representatives in the Borgen Project, but they work to make international development a priority. Anyone at any age can participate, but they have internship opportunities for college students too!

The MSU Animal Welfare Club is focused on improving animal welfare and supporting humane animal use through education and outreach. They focus these efforts on understanding and improving animal quality of life using peer-reviewed scientific research, the three elements of animal welfare as described by the Farm Animal Welfare Education Centre, and the Five Freedoms as described by the Farm Animal Welfare Council. The LBGT Resource Center is a student-centered campus resource that works to celebrate, affirm, and empower LGBTQ+ members of the MSU community. Jesse Beal, the director, spoke with me about what the resource center is, what it does, and its goals for everyone involved and how it's being achieved. Through education, engagement, advocacy, and student support, the LBGTRC works to create an inclusive campus culture for people of all genders and sexual identities. Pride Month on campus has also recently ended, and they described how it usually is celebrated and how challenges had to be overcome due to COVID-19.

A class at MSU where you can impact the lives of others! Yes, that does exist. Snares to Wares a nonprofit is partnered with MSU so students of different majors to participate in a project to prevent poaching by creating an alternate source of income for a community in East Africa. This year, art was the focus. To help support this project go to the RIV on Saturday morning (10 a.m. to 11 a.m.) on Apr. 13. They will also be displaying these magnificent sculptures this summer at the Detroit Zoo starting on May 8.

The Spartones are a collaborative a cappella group comprised of members from other MSU a cappella groups. This supergroup performs in the summer at Acaopen. Stephanie’s first interaction with MSU a cappella was with the Accafellas, so of course this week’s episode starts with them. The Accafellas are one of the all male a cappella groups here on campus. They just performed this past weekend, but in case you missed it, they will be bringing holiday cheer on November 30. Up next is RCAHppella, the co-ed group that began in the Residential College of Arts and Humanities. They will be bringing the '70s back with their Groovyppella on November 15 in the Snyder Phillips Auditorium. You can find them on social media @msurcahppella and their music on YouTube.
