With 91 years of living, this man is honestly one of the most profound, knowledgeable, agents for true, authentic, tangible change fighting for justice in this world today.Background on Dr. Perkins via his foundation:"Dr. John Perkins is one of the last living civil rights leaders who fought for equality and reconciliation throughout most of his life. He also has...received 16 honorary doctorates. Now, at 91 years-old, Dr. Perkins has written his final book, Count It All Joy: The Ridiculous Paradox of Suffering (Moody Publishers) that reflects on examples of suffering, why we suffer, and the joys of suffering. When he was seven months old, John Perkins’ mother died of malnutrition. At 16, his older brother was murdered by police. As a civil rights activist, John was tortured and beaten by police. He endured familial suffering with the murder of his sister and the death of two sons. John recently battled cancer. Grateful to Jesus for my genuine, godly Proverbs 31 beautiful best woman of all time, the GOAT, Amber J. The league seemed to be at the forefront of a lot of discussions involving social justice protests and seemingly was one of the first major leagues to shut its arena doors in 2020. In what was a difficult season of life and the NBA continues its season, hopefully we can all learn a little something from some of the lessons they've learned to apply to this season of life...to continue the conversation so that it doesn't become just a trend or #hashtag but a livelihood to promote equality and respect and love others. It's a shame that it took everything that transpired for people to talk about it but at least NOW it's being talked about. But it should be talked about whether or not it's 'cool' or 'mainstream' to talk about it. It should be talked about. Period. And equality should be an everyday, everybody thing. Period. Not just when it's trending. Black lives matter.When you hear that, what does that spark in you?It's what i ask Fortune 500 company GM's global communications / multicultural specialist--Lester Booker, Jr., MSA. From you being in LA to me being in Michigan, the long distance struggle, the trials, God provided a job where we'd close the distance gap the day before our wedding--it was all God. This is actual, true love...in a world full of facades, I'm grateful for your REAL LOVE. One that is long-suffering, one that is pure, one that is genuine.You've stuck by my side through the up's and down's, love, leading all the way to these past few weeks...some of which have been the most difficult of my life...the week leading up to this episode being released ... hearing my Lola died in Michigan...you were with me getting a last minute flight there to honor her life and encouraging/supporting me every step of the way. It is a joy, honor, and privilege to dedicate this episode to lovely Lola. Grateful to God you, AmberJ, were able to meet her and spend quality time with her...and that she was able to see us get married in Long Beach. Lola--the real OG--taking my dad and aunts, uncles from the Philippines to the US a week before Martial Law--talk about bravery...talk about courage...talk about God's timing. Welcome to the authentically podcast EPISODE ONE PART ONE : wherever you are listening from , YOU are welcome. you were created specifically for a unique purpose and your authentic self is INCREDIBLE.this first episode is an intro on what this podcast will be all about .. along with an intro to my FIRST GUEST...you guys, have a VERY, VERY, VERY SPECIAL guest coming your way in part two of episode one...yes there's two parts to this first episode because it's only right to intro this guest with class, style, and dignity--like the very special incredible guest she is.so, here's a little info on what to expect from this podcast, filled with guests, insight, fun, laughs, deep talks, sports debates, KEEPING IT REAL on what is going on in society, the culture, and more...all with passion and integrity:in a world full of facades, people posting highlight reels of life & media showcasing many times just one side of the story--I'm here to keep it real, being authentic as we all are in this thing called life together...learning, growing, and staying the course. from being the passionate michigander I am (which means, yes I am a Detroit Lions fan) to loving travel, music, sports, talking culture, and deep things that actually matter, to chopping' it up about who the GOAT is (including which fries are the best--my wife and I have to say In n Out) , to figuring out how to do life with excellence--let's talk.ALSO : there's too many boys in this world & not enough men. in a world with terrible examples of what it means to be a man (whether you're dealing with a boy whose hobby is swiping right and on to the next one, noncommittal tools, fatherless homes, abandonment, physical/emotional abuse--the list goes on) it's my passion to encourage a generation to RISE UP MAN UP AND STAND FIRM to fighting the good fight of faith -- when it seems like the world is turning authentic manhood away. it's about time we take a stand to be who we're called to be, whether you're a husband, son, friend, uncle, dad, employee, employer, business owner, sports fan, dancer, artist, rapper, 90's pop fan, academic, a thinker, a creative, logical, emotional, wherever you are and whoever you are--it's about time we be strong for our homes, our families, our culture, our world--not in that societal norm gutting it out without sharing what's ACTUALLY AUTHENTICALLY going on but selflessly loving our families, friends, neighbors with a strength like no other--looking to Jesus as the complete perfect example of how to do so--because I know one thing--that is the ONLY way to solve any problem...the RIGHT way.
