Today we have a lockdown guest on, top football player & business owner Xavier Pratt.
Xavier has come through the age groups with football in his veins, it was a no brainer he was going to end up pursuing a career in the sport.
After making NZ Secondary Schools, he went to Wellington to join the Phoenix on a training contract, resulting in a few games for them and training full time but didn’t quite reach his A-League debut. While still being young he moved to Australia on a deal just out of Brisbane, before coming back to play in NZ again. Currently he is at Hamilton Wanderers being the top goal scorer for this season and with over 100 appearances for the club.
In this we talk about his journey of working for someone, to then going off on his own to start a football coaching business, and the ups and downs of running this day to day + what he has learnt so far. Xavier is an inspirational young dude for anybody growing up especially young footballers and this is an amazing listen you don’t want to miss.

Today we have a long time friend, Ex-professional rugby player & current police officer Ciarahn Matoe.
Ciarahn has always been known for his ability to play rugby. When he was 15 he earned a 3 year rugby scholarship to Kings College in Auckland, where he made NZ Schools in his last year. He went on to represent New Zealand U20s for 2 years, 3 years of Mitre 10 NPC Rugby, and involvement with the Chiefs Super Rugby side.
In this we talk about the feeling of rejection of not making representative sides, how to deal with the mental struggles, losing passion for rugby to the point where he finally developed the courage to walk away from the game (temporarily) and pursued a career as a police officer.
We dive into lots of relatable issues that we feel are very common in todays age, and very common within the professional sporting realm. Ciarahn has an amazing story, he's an amazing friend, and a brother for life. We could go on forever but had to work to an hour time limit.

Today we have the founders of Bout Fitness themselves - Kane & Estelle on the show. In just 3 years, they have built a hugely successful HIIT gym which incorporates a lot of boxing.
After both representing NZ at the highest level in Tae Kwondo at the world cup with Estelle coming away as a world champion and Kane also making it into quarter finals in the extremely competitive male middleweight division, they made the move together to Brisbane.
Long story short they saved their asses off, came back to Mount Maunganui and threw everything into starting up a gym - which has now scaled to 2 and over 270 members in just the mount gym alone.
The adversity they faced, the hard times, the rewarding times, all mashes together for an amazing story. Bout has created a culture you want to be apart of - when you join the gym its like joining a family and/or sports team.
Going to this gym myself I can attest to the fact that it is definitely something special, and this is definitely worth a listen.

Hey guys. Very recently we registered our small business in New Zealand as a company, as well as registering for GST. This podcast explains what I've learnt so far in this space and how to maximise your benefits from this situation.-A couple things I forgot to mention:-1. By registering your car under the company, you can actually use depreciation of your vehicle as an expense to offset your income tax, not to mention you can claim back the GST against your owing. Depreciation I look at as an invisible expense, you're not actually spending money on depreciation, so could be beneficial, weigh up your pros and cons.2. If you are operating as a sole trader, whatever your business is earning you add on top of your personal earnings and you will be taxed in that earning bracket. Lets say you earn 50k a year personally, and your business earns 30k, everything over 48k (32k) of your earnings will be taxed in the 30% bracket, so depending on your income, this may not actually be benefiting you financially.-Hope this gives a bit of value, chur enjoy
