Connecting theory to practice can be tricky. You might theoretically understand how to fish, dance the samba, make friends (and influence people), or split atoms, but actually doing them is a very different thing entirely. The same goes for worshipping God. How do we go from worship being something that we logically understand to something that we intentionally practice?
Money can fly out of our pockets in many ways. Sometimes it seems like we don’t even know where the money goes. In this message we will look at different ways to use money and how we can align our usage of money with God’s heart for the world. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve talked about what it looks like to be both self-differentiated AND emotionally connected. But whenever you stand up for what you believe and attempt to remain connected to the people you love, others won’t always like what you do and say. They may even try to sabotage the good you are trying to create.
Standing up for who we are and what we believe can help us be less anxious but also burn some relationships with others. The key is to remain emotionally connected to others even when we self-differentiate. In this message, we will examine how Jesus masterfully did this and how we can emulate him in our relationships.

But what does it look like to make a healthy emotional stand for ourselves when people around us are pressuring us to act a certain way? All the data out there shows that we are becoming more and more anxious. We are seeing a massive spike in anxiety in our society, particularly among younger people. What is driving that anxiety, and how can we be non-anxious? In this message, we will look at some of what the scripture says about anxiety and see how Jesus models peace amid stressful situations.
How often do YOU think about the Roman Empire? When Jesus was born, he stepped into the world of the mighty Roman Empire. And most people in that day were not good people or bad people. Most often, when people talk about legacy, they refer to money. We think of passing money on to our kids or donating money in our will to charity. But we can pass on so much more to the next generation. In this message, we will look at the apostle Paul’s instructions about how people in the church should leverage their resources for the sake of others. And we will see ways that all of us (whether or not we are parents) can make the most of the opportunity to leave a legacy of faith for those who come after us.
Our culture is obsessed with the latest and greatest—the things that are new and hot. And yet, some of the best things in life are pretty old. We find this unexpected truth in music, fashion, architecture, and more. It’s also true about how we live. Those values by which we choose to live? We don’t need new ones. Instead, we need to recover some old ones because humanity hasn’t changed much in thousands of years. In this series, we will look at eight critical vintage character qualities that God wants to grow in our lives and examine how our digital age works against those qualities.

This is the season of lights: Tacky light tours, not-so-tacky lights, just tons of lighting everywhere. (All of which spreads the most Christmas cheer to Dominion power!) Part of the reason we use lights to celebrate the birth of Jesus is that Jesus claims to be the “light of the world,” and the gospel of John tells us that Jesus’s birth brings light and life to all men. The ending of the book of Ruth shows a God who works behind the scenes for our good. In the book of Ruth, we see a young woman, Ruth, make a risky move to secure her future with a man named Boaz. Nearly all of us have or will work for a living. For some, work is a necessary evil we only do to pay the bills. For others, it becomes how we prove our worth to the world and to ourselves. We all face the temptation to do things halfway. We put in half-effort at work, our health, or our finances—to "kind of" do something, and we end up getting halfway good results. In this message, we will look at Jesus's final letter to a church from the book of Revelation, where he challenges them to stop doing their faith halfway. It’s popular today to refer to people as woke. “Influencers” might sound like a new social media term, but we’ve always had influencers, good and bad, since the beginning of humanity. Whether we like it or not, what and who we choose to listen to has a huge impact on our faith. What is in your core? What are your deepest convictions? We don’t often think about that much in our culture because we are busy chasing after the next thing. In this message, we will look at things like conviction and purpose and examine how God calls us to something more significant in this life. We will also investigate the role of repentance in getting ourselves back on track.
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
Throughout history, the Christian Church has suffered under periods of intense persecution. Yet, followers of Jesus have actually thrived in some ways during these times. In this message, we look at the church in Smyrna, that Jesus warns about coming persecution, and we will see how his warning can also encourage us when we feel the pressure.
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
In the book of Revelation, John records a vision: a message from Jesus Christ to seven of the churches existing in modern-day Turkey. His message to those churches still applies to us today. This past Sunday, August 1st, we began a new message series, SEVEN, where we will listen for what the Spirit is still saying to believers today.
So much of life gives us options, not between good and evil or right and wrong, but between better and best. How do we sort through those kinds of choices? In this message, we will wrap up our series from I Corinthians 10 and look at Paul’s framework for his life. How can followers of Jesus choose what is best consistently? What principles can we look to when making those decisions?

"Idolatry" sounds like a very scary, biblical word, but it probably doesn't sound like an issue we deal with in our everyday lives... right? As much as we believe in our country that we can do whatever we want, the truth is- there are limits.
