Today we mark the end of a few things here on the Flint Catholic Podcast. First, this is the end of season 3, and we hope to see you all again in late August or early September. Second, Patrick is leaving the Flint area, and so we say goodbye to Patrick on the podcast. Perhaps we'll do a bonus summer special with the new cohost!
In the episode, we talk about what we've learned this year, how we've grown spiritually, and what our plans are for the summer. There are lots of things going on in the Flint area this summer, here are a few of them.
- Vacation Bible School at St. Mathew Parish. June 12-16 from 8:45am-11:55am. This year the children will be learning about the Mystery of the mass. Register online at stmatthewflint.org.
- The Christian Anderson Band will be live in concert at Holy Redeemer on June 8th at 7pm, get your tickets early! $20 online or $25 at the door!
- Fr. Matthew Bonk will present a talk about the Eucharist in preparation for Corpus Christi following the 11am Mass on Wednesday, June 7th at Christ the King Parish.
- The 5th Annual Fr. Anthony Classic Car Show will be on Friday, June 9th from 1-6pm at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish.
- Summer Scripture Days. Spend three summer days exploring the life and letters of St. Peter. The featured speakers are Bishop Earl Boyea and Katrina Iamarino, an instructor at the Catholic Biblical School of Michigan. The retreat will be at Bethany House in Dewitt.

This past Sunday, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus, and so we felt it appropriate to talk about the Eucharist today! The first segment goes into sacramental theology and what the Eucharist is. The second segment goes into the covenantal nature of the Eucharist.

As our dispensation from the Sunday and Holyday obligation ends, the Flint parishes (Christ the King, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. John Vianney, St. Matthew, St. Pius X, St. Mary Oratory) are celebrating the great gift of the Mass in our lives. To do this, these parishes will be celebrating an outdoor Mass on Sunday, June 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Catholic High School to celebrate our faith, witness our joy at the gift of the Eucharist, and enjoy fellowship with each other. After Mass there will be lunch and music to continue the celebration. This will be the only Mass for those parishes on June 13th (Saturday evening Masses will be held as usual). RRM Parish Meetings - Starting Monday, November 16 through Thursday, December 17, the Diocese of Lansing Realign Resources for Mission Committee will be touring the diocese for a series of local parish meetings in order to explain the rationale behind the process, the methodology of the process, the vision it has for the future of parish life in the diocese and, most importantly, to listen to parishioners as to what they think of the process and how it could, potentially, impact upon their parish positively or negatively. Note: Because of Covid, these are now entirely online.
Each meeting will begin at 7pm and will run for a duration of 90 minutes. The meeting will consist of two elements: A presentation on behalf of the Realign Resource for Mission Committee combined with both verbal discussion and written feedback from parishioners on their hopes and fears for the process; what feel needs to be known about their parish; and any specific suggestions they may have for the future of their parish or the future of the diocese. They can also register their questions too.

It is in the pages of Sacred Scripture that we encounter him; that we get to know him and he gets to know us; that we fall in love with him, and, thus, we discover our deepest peace, happiness and meaning.
That’s why I invite you to join me in reading through the Holy Bible over the course of the next 12 months, starting this Advent. Together, it will be our Year of the Bible. Each day, I will text you a chapter of Sacred Scripture directly to your cellphone. We will then read it and meditate upon it.
