This is a podcast hosted by two young dudes fascinated by anything and everything that alters or puts into question how we perceive this reality. Getting to the heart of what can be seen as "true", if that is even possible.
The podcast has an element of "BroScience" to it and we employ a touch of humor to anything we discuss.
Every episode we invite quest from different parts of the world to help us tackle the questions we are interested in.
Join us in our journey, as we unveil our path back where we have been all along. The pathless path back to source, and all the detours along the way.
In this episode of the podcast we talk to Knut Thoresen, a psychologist and trained Hypnotherapist that works with athletes and others that seek to improve performance in their lives. Knut is a fascinating and learned fellow roamer. Not only does he have a trained agile scientific mind, he is also a Brazilian Jujitsu Black Belt (a rarity among us Norwegians) and Burning Man pilgrimist. -
In the intro to this podcast Carl mentions our friend, world touring DJ and spreader of lovely vibes, Robin Van Der Crussen that goes under the artist name Crussen – you can find his tunes on soundcloud. This one is from a set he did on top of the Robot Heart buss at Burning Man in 2017. -
We get into Knut’s Profession (17.40). -
Carl explains his Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) condition. -
We talk about regressional hypnotherapy, which deals with memories in childhood formative years that are linked to trauma or negative emotion and stored in the subconscious (37.15). -

What Fredrik referred to right after with the hat in the elevator was the old Candid Camera show with Allen Funt. -
We talk about compliance tactics - Secrets for the science of persuasion. -
We get into Big Data tools and how Cambridge Analytica and other data-analytic companies hypnotize you to change your behavior. What Noam Chomsky called manufacturing consent has reached a new level of deviousness (1.51.45). -

This episode of the Yugen Podcast is coming at you strait from the assembly line. In the episode we talk to Jon Walter Lundberg, who has been a regular floater at the float center.
Jon is the perfect example of the type of person one comes across when one runs a float center. Both Carl and Fredrik enjoyed amazing post-float conversations with Jon on several different occasions leading up to this episode. So Carl made the call to bring Jon in and sit him down in front of the mic so we could share some of his genius with the world. And it turned out to be a good call at that.
We had an amazing conversation with Jon who turned out to be quite the natural behind the mic and also a very insightful and well read humanoid.
Here are some links to the topics of discussion that was brought up in the episode:
What I’ve learned Youtube channel: Why meditate
The movie about being inside John Malkovich's head: Being John Malkovich
Solipsism is mentioned. If you don't know what that is, you can find out here.

Synchronicity and Jung’s Philemon Dream. How Dr. Carl G. Jung came across the concept of synchonicity through having a dream about an old man with kingfisher wings and afterward finding a dead kingfisher bird near a lake where he lived in Zurich.
Dr. Timothy Leary's 8 circuit model of consciousness.
John Von Neumann the uncle of computing as the youtube channel Computerphile puts it.
In this episode of The Yugen Podcast we talk to Bruce Damer Phd.
Describing Bruce with tittles is a misleading endeavor to pinpoint a man who has played so many roles in one incarnation. Bruce could just as well fit into the role as a “beat hippie” as he would as a “square scientist”. In the episode we don’t even come close to touching on all the mind-blowing facts about this man.
Just for orders sake we’ll make an attempt at classifying Bruce Damer so you can get a hint at just who this human being is. With emphasis on attempt.
Bruce began his career in the 80’s developing the early front-end interfaces for personal computers for IBM. This was before Windows came along. The work he did for IBM led Bruce to help out developing and organizing early multi-user virtual worlds through the Contact Consortium which hosted many of the first online experiments with users interacting using avatars. This morphed and merged into what later became the online game World of Warcraft and other mass multiplayer online role playing games.
Here’s a funny old school recording of the Avatars98 conference where Bruce shows of the hottest in online game development. An absolute hipster retro gem, it’s so hip the hipsters doesn’t even know about it yet:
https://archive.org/details/BruceDamerDemoOfEarlyAvatarvirtualWorldsAvatars98CasconToronto
Bruce also collects and archives the history of the counter-culture movement, which includes the works and archives of Timothy Leary and Terence Mckenna.
After developing about 25 projects for NASA simulating their missions, Bruce ended up in the mission design of developing a human crewed mission to asteroids, called SHEPERD Miner. This simulation can ultimately prove to be what is going to enable humanity to develop the early stages of self-sustained life on Mars.
If you are interested in this or maybe possibly what can be a future step for the Elon Musk led SpaceX missions, check out this Tedx talk where Bruce describes his SHEPERD design:

Bruce Damer is a futurist way beyond his time, but he is also making strides into the inquiries of humanities origins. Bruce is associate researcher in the Department of Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California at Santa Cruz where he together with Professor David Deamer developed and published the “Coupled Phases model” for the origin of life and eventually the full conception of the “Terrestrial Origin of Life Hypothesis”. This is perhaps the first "end-to-end" model proposed for life's origins, extrapolating on Darwin’s hypothesis of how life might have evolved in warm “hot spring ponds”.
Bruce held another amazing Tedx talk where he goes into just how life might have evolved from simple dissolved solutes in these warm ponds. You can check that one out here:

Bruce also hosts his own podcast called the Levity Zone

This is another episode about VR. Our guest this time is Stephen Greenwood, founder and CEO of the company BallastVR. They are the worlds first developers of what Stephen calls aquatic VR, which is the next level within virtual reality experiences.
Stephen came all the way from Munich, Germany to visit us at the Float center in Oslo and we tested his underwater VR prototype in the Float tank. Quite a mind blowing experience, which we talk all about in the episode.
Stephen is currently living at a water park in Germany where they are developing the worlds first VR slide attraction.
Yes, he is living at a water park, how cool is that? If you inner child is not pumped up by that then..
We had a lot of fun talking to Stephen and i think you will as well listening to this edition of our podcast.

Okay, enough sillyness..
This episode of the podcast is devoted to a rather misunderstood subject. We are talking about spirituality. Let’s look past all the trendy frases and go deeper. With us to explore this topic is musician, experienced Ayahuasca practitioner and regular floater, Martin Furan.
Join us as Martin tells the story of his Ayahuasca experiences, and of course all the tangents we usually like to digress upon.
Enjoy!
Carl and Fred gets blown away by all the possibilities within the world of VR.
Our guest for this episode of the podcast is the founder of the company Adapa360, who are involved in the development of specially designed cameras and immersing viewers using virtual reality technologies.
Also, simulation theory, sacred geometry and all that good jazz.
Enjoy
In this episode of the Yugen Podcast we sit down with Entrepreneur and Founder of the Cleantech company WeClean, Kim Haagensen. In the episode we get into talking about the importance of community and having a social role to play in a grander scheme of things. We also discuss some of the challenges we currently face to catalyze small business growth in Norway.
Kim Haagensen has a special ability to contaminate the space around him with a giving mentality and unconditional love. WeClean is led with a flat structure where everyone in the company is required to clean. Their company mantra is borrowed from the US Navy Seals and goes as follows: “If it ain’t shitty, don’t do it”.
Here is an excerpt from an Instagram post from WeClean itself which puts things into perspective:
“Putting people to work, paying taxes and fighting the good fight against the black market and social dumping. We we’re motivated to make our imprint on the world. But that sort of motivation only lasts for a short amount of time. Just enough to get you going. Then the grind comes into play. The daily resistance of ins and outs, where patience and discipline is everything. The frictions of life. That’s when being motivated to take on the world isn’t enough to keep on going. You need more. Something that transcends the ego and the physical plain. A driving purpose that roots you to your core beliefs. Something you can come back to and remind yourself of every day, no matter where or how you are. If you find that, you will feel and understand that it only exists in the moment. That the moment is all there is. And suddenly two years of hard work has gone by without a hint of nostalgia. Because we’re here now. And the here and the now is all we need to feel that thing we yearn for ever day: to love and to be loved unconditionally.”
So in the spirit of Kim and everyone down at WeClean, there is a buddhist saying that goes:
“Everything is lost, except what is given away”, because..
“You only loose what you cling to” – Siddharta Gautama

This episode was recorded in late September 2016. Carl and Fredrik smacked up a guerilla podcast rig in the living room of the Floating center in Oslo and got to know each other better with the mic's in front of them.
The conversation jumps all over the place from early development, education/parenthood, psychedelics and a whole lot more.
