Looking to make a new friend, but not sure what to do to get out of your comfort zone? We got you!

In this episode of Big Sis Energy, Lauren & Greta share their very best tips and tricks for connecting with new people.

The need to know list: 1. Be open to starting the conversation - develop this skill by practicing talking to people every day! 2. Draw from your surroundings and common emotions (e.g. a line is moving super slow) - observe and pull from the environment around you to make conversation relevant. 3. Ask questions (not too personal!) or compliment them! 4. Propose a reason to hang out (in location they're comfortable with)! e.g. study partner 5. Making a new friend happens over time and takes ongoing effort! 6. You won't find a connection with everyone you meet! Never let rejection discourage you from trying again next time.

Questions to Consider: 1. What are you looking for in a friend? 2. What qualities are important to you in a person? 3. What do you like to do? What are your interests? 4. What 3 things make you unique/special?

Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever stood by and watched someone be bullied? Have YOU bullied someone (or yourself)? October is National Bullying Prevention Month, so all month long Blue Fever is diving into all things bullying, making friends and showing kindness to others (and yourself!).

In this episode of Big Sis Energy, Lauren & Greta share their personal observations + experiences with bullying.

The need to know list: 1. Bullying isn’t always obvious. 2. If you’re being bullied it’s not because of something you did! It’s because the bully is insecure about themself. 3. Bullies may be more popular, but they are less liked. 4. Don’t stand by and definitely don’t scroll by! If you see it happening IRL or Online, please do something about it (ensure your action does not put you in harm’s way). 5. If you're the bully, ask yourself: Do you want to be responsible long-term for these actions?

Finding your tribe is so much more than simply meeting new friends- it's about finding a group of people who will support you + help you glow over the course of your life.

Listen as Lauren and Greta talk about what your tribe should look like, how to build it and why we as humans feel like we need a tribe (it's legit biological). From meeting new peeps, to realizing when you're around the wrong people L & G share personal experiences and give big sis advice on finding the community to help you become the best version of you.

Takeaways: 1. Check in with yourself, are you in the right place (mentally & physically) to find your tribe? What energy are you putting out? Where are you spending your time- is it someplace you might find like-minded people?

  1. Identify the kind of people in the past who've made you feel most supported and most like yourself. Be on the lookout for those kinds of people- chase the "feeling" they give you, not the outside "form" they come in (aka a popular person, a super accomplished person, etc.)

  2. Know that your tribe might change over time as you do... this is completely normal. And sometimes your tribe might not all be friends but they will be a collective of people who are your support/safety net.

  3. Blue Fever was built to be a tribe for anyone who needs support or wants to give support to others. If you ever feel alone, don't worry you can always be in our tribe :)

  4. We all need some guidance through finding our tribe. Text Blue #friendless if you want help.

Have you ever dealt with mean girls? Felt like they had some kind of power over you that you couldn't shake? Have YOU ever been one?

On this special episode of Big Sis Energy, Greta + Lauren are joined by life coach Megan Ladd who tells us all how to find closure with the mean girls of your past, deal with the ones in your present causing pain and prevent yourself from accidentally becoming one in the future.

Takeaways: - "Hurt people hurt people"- other people being mean to you is usually a result of their own insecurities. - You can't control other people, but you can find closure for your own sanity without anyone else's permission or apology :) - Remember to be conscious of what's coming out of your mouth- your words can have a lasting effect on others even if you don't mean them to.

Megan's tips: - Set aside time to be upset- text Blue #wannacry or #vent or #rejected - Take unnecessary negativity out of your life. If you operate differently on social media because you think people following you are going to judge you- block them! -If you’re really hurting, the best way to make yourself feel better is to do something kind for someone else. If you want to do that by being a Blue Fever Friend (BFF) who helps support other girls, sign up here: https://www.bluefever.com/bff-intro - Do Megan's exercises to get over a friend breakup (for free) here: www.megan-ladd.com/blog/how-to-move-on-after-a-friend-breakup

REMEMBER: Most people are good people at their core- they just might be disconnected from who they truly are because they're hurting. We can all be mean sometimes- but we're ALL capable of healing that.

Feeling lonely? We've been there so so many times....

You don't have to be alone to experience loneliness, there's so many different reasons people feel lonely. L & G share their stories and give big sister advice on how to deal:

  • Loneliness is when you feel disconnected from yourself or others. It's not just about being "alone."
  • Vulnerability is the #1 thing that makes relationships work, by being vulnerable you allow people to know you and accept you.
  • Pro Tip: Vulnerability is scary but actually makes you feel LESS lonely
  • Take control of your loneliness, no one else can fix it for you.
  • Make a list of things that make you feel more connected to yourself and keep it for when you're lonely.
  • Write down your current lonely thoughts and feelings and then write down how you want to feel.... THEN figure out what thought you would need to "think" to get to that good and connected feeling (sounds hard but you can do it- we promise!)
  • Ask for help when you feel lonely- don’t be afraid to admit it.
  • REMEMBER ALWAYS: This is feeling only temporaryđź’™

Learning to love and accept the body you exist in is a lifelong journey. L & G share their stories on body image, accepting themselves, and learning to appreciate everything their bodies do for them that they take for granted:

  • Friendly Reminder: Don’t “should” all over yourself! There is no “right answer” to how we all should look.
  • Be conscious of the language you use discussing other people and their bodies, as well as your own. You never know what kind of lasting impact that will leave.
  • When getting dressed/ready for a day or night out: don’t leave the house until you feel good. Leave with positive energy instead of self-judgement.

Say goodbye to self doubt, and hello to self love. Lauren and Greta talk about self love in the 21st century. L+G share their own personal stories, discuss how instagram makes us feel about ourselves, and offer big sisterly advice on being and loving YOU! đź’™

  1. You can’t share love with others until you love yourself. Period.
  2. Trust that the way YOU do things is okay- someone else's answer isn't always yours (unless you're Janelle Monae)
  3. Where are your negative thoughts coming from? Separate your assumptions from actual fact and ask yourself: "are my negative thoughts the truth or just something I made up in my head?"

Friendship/relationship drama causing you grief? Lauren and Greta talk about toxic relationships. From friendships to romantic relationships, L + G talk about their own personal experiences and give big sister tips on how to move toward healthier relationships.

Questions to ask yourself: 1. What are you gaining out of this relationship? Why do you want to be in this relationship? If it’s a good relationship you should be getting something positive out of it. 2. What relationships in your life have reached their expiration date? Your one role in a relationship is to make sure you want to be in the relationship- is it still a healthy one? 3. Don’t date potential/be in a relationship for potential. Because that potential might never become real. Be around people who are good for you right now in this moment.

Text Blue:

toxicfriendship to help get over a toxic friendship

relationship to help work through a current relationship that you’re having problems in

selflove as a reminder to stick up for yourself in any relationship
