Lots of reasons why actually which I will cover in the podcast but there is one vital reason.

Vital!

Say you're a call centre worker and you hate it. You're only being a call centre worker because the money is good, flexible hours and great crowd of people etc etc. But it's so easy to give the job minimal effort and attention. In fact you're generally unhelpful to everyone who calls in.

Want to know one of the secrets as to how the most successful business people get ahead? They have laser focus on the most important “project or task” that has to be done and don’t get distracted until that task is done. The Most Important Task is the piece of work that is going to get you the promotion, going to get you the client, going to bring in the money!! It’s the sexy work! It doesn’t matter how long your To Do List is, every Friday afternoon (Lesson 1), identify the one task that is going to be your MIT for the following week and allocate uninterrupted time to do it (Lesson 2). Most people are more alert and productive first thing in the morning, hence this is normally the best time to get the MIT done. But you need to work out when is the best time for you. It’s soooo easy to get bogged down in meetings, e-mails, phone calls, admin work and reports, that the rock star work never gets the dedication it needs. Don’t let this be you!

Welcome to today's podcast: To Do List Series: Method 3 with Ryan Jackson. Ryan thinks that by doing a to-do list you take ownership of smaller, more mundane items that are less important but you do them so that you can have the satisfaction of ticking them off. While the bigger, higher priority things get left because they're not so easy to tick off. Especially if you run your own business, you should avoid getting bogged down in detail and should delegate in order to up productivity. Ryan advises: focus your time to key themes and stick to them so that you aren't constantly shifting your attention and scattering your concentration; prioritise the job on your to do list that you least want to do; know when you're most productive - is it first thing in the morning or evening for example?

He talks us through his method - ITF

I = Impact

T = Time

F = Focus

He talks a LOT of sense and I love his method and general approach to getting sh*t done!

Welcome to today's podcast: To Do List Series: Method 2 with Emma Jefferys. In the podcast, Emma takes us through her method called Action Planning! HINT - It involves a spider diagram that is super exciting to use. Emma Jefferys is an Accredited Coach and Licensed NLP Practitioner living in Tunbridge Wells, England.

Having enjoyed a 20-year career as a planner in advertising she was fascinated about how people think, how we make decisions, how we can reframe things to change the perspective. Emma wanted to use these skills to help people transform instead. She feels passionately that we have one precious life and that too many people compromise their own happiness and growth because they are afraid, lack confidence or can’t quite see how to get to where they want to get to. She likes to coach in a relaxed and friendly manner and believes that it should be an enjoyable process so there is plenty of room for humour. But she takes the outcomes very seriously and is not afraid to ask the questions that she believes will get her clients where they want to go in a direct, albeit gentle, way. The Action Planning system is just one example of where Emma has spotted a common client challenge and created a method to help them overcome it

To be brave is an act more associated with wrestling a lion, fighting off an attacker or charging into war. But I like to think of bravery in terms of stepping out of my comfort zone, pushing myself to do something that takes me a lot of courage to do. In my opinion, the only time we grow as human beings is when we push ourselves further and further away from our normal comfort zones when we feel fear and keep going regardless.

To have compassion is socially important. Compassion was one of the values I worked on when I first used Life Coaching to help me a number of years ago. My coach used compassion to help me flip my attitude towards somebody who I was struggling to like at work. She was a lovely lady but for some reason, I couldn't help but be irritated by her. I felt horrible, but I literally couldn’t help how I felt until I studied the principles of compassion. To understand the importance of patience, I think it’s best to look at the definition of impatience: the tendency to be impatient; irritability or restlessness. Words associated with impatience are ‘restlessness’, ‘frustration’, ‘agitation’, ‘anger’, ‘nervousness’, ‘edginess’, ‘jitteriness’, ‘excitability’, ‘hunger’, ‘greed’ and ‘longing’. The ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ theory has had a huge resurgence in the past ten years. We’ve been encouraged to write gratitude lists, keep a gratitude diary, feel grateful and act grateful. For a good reason. Quite simply, by feeling grateful we can instantly change how we feel, and, by changing how we feel, we will attract good things to us. There is science to back this up, but in a nutshell: ‘Like Attracts Like’.

If we think good thoughts or more importantly feelgood, we will attract good things. Notice I’ve highlighted the word ‘feel’. It’s not enough to think of something you are grateful for; you have tofeel the gratitude and feel emotion. Otherwise, it won’t work.

So, how can you feel gratitude. Listen to the podcast to find out!

In this podcast, I've come up with 12 practical steps you can take now to help alleviate your loneliness. I remember the time I first felt lonely. I had just moved to a foreign country on my own, started a new job and was going through a break up, literally all at once. I was on an emotional roller coaster, yet there was one HUGE emotion that stood out for me head and shoulders above the rest. Loneliness. You see at that time I had no friends in the new country. Not one. I had literally just moved, ready to start my new life with my fiancé. Then it went wrong. Yes, I had the huge support of family and friends back home, but there was only so much help they could offer me from 6,000 miles away. Particularly back when Skype was banned and calls back home were expensive. The fact is, I was lonely and at that time, there was no one to fall back on. Looking back now, being lonely changed my life for the better. Being lonely spurred me on to do so many things that ultimately lead me to changing my life. But at the time, I felt awful. At the peak of loneliness, I felt absolutely dreadful and there is nothing nice about that, despite where I eventually ended up.
