Joey Green Band: Recent Episodes

Joey Green

Joey Green was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1959. In 1985, Joey moved to New York City where he met bassist/producer Brian Stanley who helped him form an indie rock band called the "Jury".

After living in Vienna, Austria for the last 20 years, Joey Green has relocated back to New York City and his rock & roll roots, focusing his artistic energy on a new set of original 1970's style original rock productions.

However, when Joey left New York City in 2000, there was no such thing as "social media", "smart phones" and believe it or not "Spotify"! Subsequently he will be digitally releasing several tracks for the first time that were recorded back in the late 1980's and yet never released. Among them are, "Love Comes Once" & "Little Boy David". That all changes here as both PREVIOUSlY unreleased titles are debuting on Spotify!

Not everything Joey Green has up on Spotify is from the last Century though. Goodness no! Recent releases include, " Trumpty Dumpty", "Blood Is Thicker Than Water", "Living On Borrowed Time", "Heartbroke Again" and the 1970's retro rock number, "1977"--plus lot's more.

Look for more new music to show up in the coming year right here on Spotify as Joey Green settles back into New York getting his "Mojo Working" and up to speed!

Blood Is Thicker Than Water

The past is always present, In everything we do. Broken promises, faithless lies, Inside of me and you.

The door was always open. You were always free to go. The only thing I ever---asked of you, Was that you kindly let me know.

And now I’m seein for the first time in our life, That you were never, really ever, ever my wife. Although I thought you were the lover of my life.

Blood is thicker than water. You thought I was your father. But I thought you were my lover. Blood is thicker than water. Blood is thicker than water. You were never my daughter.

I guess I shouldn’t blame you, for my heartache and my pain. You only gave me what you got, And It’s comin' round again.

It’s like the wind sweepin over the sea. The Rain fallin' down from the sky. You can’t change it- can’t rearrange it. There’s that strange look in your eyes.

I don’t wanna watch you sleepin’. I don’t wanna watch you dreamin’. I don’t wanna hear you breathin’. I don’t I don’t no, no, no, no!

I don’t wonder what you’re feelin’. I don’t wonder what your wearin’. I don’t wonder what your thinkin’. I don’t I don’t no, no, no,no!

I don’t wonder what your doin’. I don’t wonder who your lovin’. I don’t wonder what your sayin’. I don’t I don’t no, no, no no!

I don’t wanna see you cryin’. I don’t wanna here more lyin’. I don’t wanna see you smilin’. I don’t I don’t no, no, no, no!

And now I’m seein for the first time in our life, That you were never, really ever, ever my wife. Although I thought you were the lover of my life.

Blood Is Thicker!

Heartbroke (Again)

Alright now. Listen up. The devil’s been doin’ my wife. Time to get a brand new life. I found out from an SMS. He’s was blowin’ his fiery kiss. And now I’m tumblin’ down. I don’t know when it’s gonna end.

She’s been sayin’ „Everything is fine.“ Now I know just what’s been on her mind.

My heart's broke again. My heart’s been broke again. She’s been sleepin’ with another man. And my heart's broke again. Been goin’ on for a year And now I’m drownin’ in tears. My heart's been broke again

Now I ain’t that naive, Hearts can sometimes change. Love--it comes and it goes. That ain’t nothing strange! For the sake of love, why not just say it’s so and let it go? Bye, bye, bye.

Your world is spinning, when your lover leaves. But deception and betrayal, bring you to your knees.

My heart’s broke again. My, my, my hearts been broke again. She’s been lovin’ another man. And my heart’s broke again. Been goin’ on for a year. I’m drownin’ in tears. My heart's been broke again.

(SOLO SECTION)

My heart’s broke again. My, my, my heart's been broke again. She’s been lovin’ another man. And my heart broke again. Been goin’ on for a year. I’m drownin’ in tears. My heart's been broke again

My heart’s broke again. My, my, my heart's been broke again. She been lovin’ another man. And my heart been broke again. Been goin’ on for a year Now I’m drownin’ in tears. My heart's been broke again! Been goin’ on for a year. You know I’m drownin’ in tears. My heart broke again.

An ode to one helluva year!

New version featuring Justin "JJ" Jordan on guitar!

“ 1977 “

I grew up in a family that wasn’t quite right. Mama on the couch, daddy out all night. I think they loved each though it seemed insane. Caught in the middle of a losin” game!

Now, I’m not sayin” that we wasn”t loved. Daddy worked hard, mama was a dove. But the distance between them was just too wide. And when I look back now, I know why she cried.

That was you, that was me, that was then---1977. Life was sweet, it was sometimes cruel---1977.

My freshman year, I was a kind-a small. All my friends were gettin’ tall. I dressed like a clown, acted like one too. When I think back now it was all I could do.

My sophomore year, I found my way. I joined my first band and we started to play. High-school dances on a Saturday night. Playin” Rock & Roll and feelin” right.

She was the girl next door and she drove me mad. The first real lover, I ever had. What was missin’ back home to my surprise, I found it in her heart it was there in her eyes.

That was you, that was me, that was then---1977. Skies were blue and limitless then--- in “77”. Runnin’ wild, runnin” loose, runnin’ free “77”. So many of us are gone. I hope there’s a heaven.

INSTRUMENTAL SECTION

There was Vietnam and Watergate. USA security state. Richard Nixon with his hand on his heart. Lyin’ through his teeth--perfecting the art.

There were pissed off Arabs and angry Jews. Jimmy Carter tried, but what’s the use? Cause dyin’ is easy with god on your side. It’s livin’ that’s hard when you refuse to hide.

Now, I’m not sayin’ it was good or bad. All I’m sayin’ is it was all we had. Grab your friends---get in your car. If you can’t be who you want---you better be who you are.

That was you, that was me, that was then--- 1977. Skies were blue and limitless then----in “77”. Runnin’ wild, runnin” loose, runnin’ free---1977 . Life was sweet, it was sometimes cruel---1977.

That was you, that was me, that was then back in “77”. So many of them are gone. I hope there’s a heaven. That was you, that was me, that was then--- 1977. So many of them are gone. I hope there’s a heaven.

Pick Up The Telephone

Sure as rivers flow—to the deep blue sea. One thing you should know, before you leave. When the night is long and lonely And you out there on your own. All you gotta do— Is pick up the telephone

From the day we met- I knew right from the start. I never would forget- The lovin’ in your heart. And I will do whatever I have to- To keep you safe and strong. All you gotta do little girl-- Is pick up the telephone.

Pick up the telephone and call me. When you’re feeling cold & low. Pick up the telephone and call me. When there’s no where else to go.

Pick up the telphone and call me When you need a helping hand I will always understand.

Oh yeah.

Years they come and go- No one can deny. I cherish everyday- You by my side- As you set out on your journey- Faraway from home. If you ever need me- Pick up that telephone.

Pick up the telephone and call me. When you’re feeling cold & low. Pick up the telephone and call me. When there’s no where else to go.

Pick up the telphone and call me When you need a helping hand I will always understand.

REPEAT CHORUS

Brand New Release! I wrote it 4 weeks ago in the mountains of Austria. It is based on a dream I had one evening.

Livin’ On Borrowed Time- Words & Music-Joey Green-2018

Cool, Spring mornin’---month of May. Turquoise sky---beautiful day. Desert flowered valley—down New Mexcio way.

Flute is playing--- tune on the spur. His heartbeats a drummin’---standin’ next to her. Walking together, with something to say.

The snow is fallin’ and it’s cold outside. Above us the Sun is shinin’. A child laughs---an old man cries. Turnin’ on the wheel.

Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. Don’t you know we are livin’ ? Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time.

Lost in her eyes. She runs to his arms, Holding each other so close. They will never let go---never let go!

I guess that’s how it’s supposed’ to be? Me lovin’ you----you ---lovin’---me? As long as we can—as long as we can.

Time marches on and the seasons fly. Look at all these children! Our faces change as the years go by. Turnin’ on the wheel.

Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. Don’t you know we are livin’! Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. I said we are all livin’! Promise tomorrow—you will remember me?

Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. Don’t you know we are livin’ ?

Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. Don’t you know we are livin’ ?

Promise tomorrow, you will remeber me? Don’t let go what you’re givin’!

Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. Don’t you know we are livin’ ?

Livin’ on borrowed, livin’ on borrowed time. Don’t you know we are livin’! Promise tomorrow

Love, Love, Love

___________________________________________________________________

Love, Love, Love, Love is really what we're livin' for.

I woke up this morning---just before the dawn. The Moon was on the other side---of the horizon--yeah. I got this feeling---- time is moving on. Where is it goin' Where did it come from?

And then I turn on my pillow. She is lying there next to me. A dreamy smile on her face. I love her warm embrace.

*Love, love, love---love is really what we’re searching for. If you have love in your heart—you won’t need much more.

I said love, love, love---love is really what we’re living for. If love lives in your heart------you’ll never be alone. No, no, no.

Sometimes it's not easy. And we all need a helping hand. Someone to lean on. Someone to understand. Someone to laugh with. And someone to cry with too. A friend to lean on---when you just can’t make it through!

We all get rained on---sure as the sun will shine. But it won’t really matter---if the sunshines in your eyes.

*Love, love, love---love is really what we’re searching for. If you have love in your heart—you won’t need much more.

I said love, love, love---love is really what we’re living for. If love lives in your heart------you’ll never be alone. No, no, no.

SOLO

Then I turn on my pillow. She is lying there dreamin’ next to me. Sleepy smile on her face. I love her warm embrace. The love that she sends my way. Brightens up my day!

Love, love, love---love is really what we’re searching for. If you have love in your heart—you won’t need much more. I said love, love, love---love is really what we’re living for. If love lives in your heart------you'd never be alone!

I said love, love, love---love is really what we're searching for. If you have love in your heart---you won't need much more. No

When you got love in your heart. It's what we're really livin' for. It's something that we can't live without. It's somethin' that we gotta have. Get some love in your heart. I'm talkin'bout' love, love, love.

I’m Comin’ On To You (words & music: Joey Green-2017)

This is a song about desire-------not love.

https://open.spotify.com/album/1XSg5m45HQFdbD1OEtuCuK

You caught my eye last Friday night. The dress you was wearin’--sure was tight. And when I gazed into your eyes--- I saw a ragin’ sea.

I won’t tell you no big fat lies. I won’t promise you paradise. I just wanna get lost—in your eyes.

I’m comin’ on to you. I’m comin’ on to you. It’s in the way you move. It’s in the way you groove. I’m comin’ on to you.

You’ll never know how you make me feel. I don’t know what’s fake or real. And I’m screaming for you to please, Rescue me.

Now, I won’t tell you no big fat lies And I won’t promise you paradise. I just wanna get lost—in those eyes.

I’m comin’ on to you. I’m comin’ on to you. It’s in the way you move, It’s in the way you groove. I’m comin’ on to you.

I’m comin’ on to you. I’m comin’ on to you. It’s in the way you walk. It’s in the way you talk. I’m comin’ on to you.

Instrumental

I been dreamin’ what I might do, If I could get you—all alone. We’d could play a game that I call, “cherry pie”.

But, I won’t tell you no big fat lies. I won’t promise you paradise. I just wanna get lost—in your eyes.

I’m comin’ on to you. I’m comin on to you. It’s in the way you move, It’s in the way you groove. I’m comin’ on to you.

I’m comin’ on to you. I’m comin’ on to you. It’s in the way you walk. It’s in the way you talk. I’m comin’ on to you.

Yeah, I’m comin’ on to you. I’m comin on to you. It’s in the the way you live. It’s in the love you give. I’m comin’ on to you.

Time And The River is a collection of poems written by Joey Green in 1996-97 and later set to music.

An eloquent, mystical acoustic/rock musical presentation of poems written

Time And The River is an eloquent, mystical, acoustic/rock musical presentation of poems written on the banks of the Hudson River by Joey Green in 1998-1999.

By watching the river through all four seasons Joey learned a lot about that "river". He wrote these "poems" and feelings down and not long after put them to music with an old 6-string guitar.

This release is an introspective look at nature, self, the world around us and what hides just beneath the surface.

It is playful, mystical, dreamy, intense and at times enigmatic in that the listener may not always be able to "grab" what the author is attempting to put across.

Brilliantly produced by Christian Cassan at his "Secret Garden Studios" in Brooklyn, NY. It features many talented artists including Justin "JJ" Jordan, Gerry O'Sullivan , Christian Cassan, Alred Buonanno, Roberto Cassan, Ron Haney, John Surich, Johnny Walker and Katja Heuzeroth.
