Joey Green
Joey Green was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1959. In 1985, Joey moved to New York City where he met bassist/producer Brian Stanley who helped him form an indie rock band called the "Jury".
After living in Vienna, Austria for the last 20 years, Joey Green has relocated back to New York City and his rock & roll roots, focusing his artistic energy on a new set of original 1970's style original rock productions.
However, when Joey left New York City in 2000, there was no such thing as "social media", "smart phones" and believe it or not "Spotify"! Subsequently he will be digitally releasing several tracks for the first time that were recorded back in the late 1980's and yet never released. Among them are, "Love Comes Once" & "Little Boy David". That all changes here as both PREVIOUSlY unreleased titles are debuting on Spotify!
Not everything Joey Green has up on Spotify is from the last Century though. Goodness no! Recent releases include, " Trumpty Dumpty", "Blood Is Thicker Than Water", "Living On Borrowed Time", "Heartbroke Again" and the 1970's retro rock number, "1977"--plus lot's more.

This track was recorded live at a rock venue called Reigen in Vienna, Austria on September 16th, 2023. This composition was written and arranged by trombonist Alex Lag. Alex wrote this composition for his good friend and baritone sax player Martin Jank, who also with RayVille.This original, relaxed instrumental features, Helmut Strobl on the alto sax and Felicia Pistorius on the flute.The RayVille Big Band has been inspiring audiences in Austria since 2015. Co-founder and vocalist Joey Green lived in Vienna from 1999 until 2019. Known for their authentic, musical tributes to iconic artists such as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and more recently Billy Joel, (wait till you hear THEIR version of Zanzibar!) these 4 tracks are a departure in the sense that the band is now creating original, dynamic, music of their own. An ode to one helluva year!

I grew up in a family that wasn’t quite right. Mama on the couch, daddy out all night. I think they loved each though it seemed insane. Caught in the middle of a losin” game!
Now, I’m not sayin” that we wasn”t loved. Daddy worked hard, mama was a dove. But the distance between them was just too wide. And when I look back now, I know why she cried.
That was you, that was me, that was then---1977. Life was sweet, it was sometimes cruel---1977.
My freshman year, I was a kind-a small. All my friends were gettin’ tall. I dressed like a clown, acted like one too. When I think back now it was all I could do.
My sophomore year, I found my way. I joined my first band and we started to play. High-school dances on a Saturday night. Playin” Rock & Roll and feelin” right.
She was the girl next door and she drove me mad. The first real lover, I ever had. What was missin’ back home to my surprise, I found it in her heart it was there in her eyes.
That was you, that was me, that was then---1977. Skies were blue and limitless then--- in “77”. Runnin’ wild, runnin” loose, runnin’ free “77”. So many of us are gone. I hope there’s a heaven.

There was Vietnam and Watergate. USA security state. Richard Nixon with his hand on his heart. Lyin’ through his teeth--perfecting the art.
There were pissed off Arabs and angry Jews. Jimmy Carter tried, but what’s the use? Cause dyin’ is easy with god on your side. It’s livin’ that’s hard when you refuse to hide.

Time And The River is an eloquent, mystical, acoustic/rock musical presentation of poems written on the banks of the Hudson River by Joey Green in 1998-1999.
By watching the river through all four seasons Joey learned a lot about that "river". He wrote these "poems" and feelings down and not long after put them to music with an old 6-string guitar.
This release is an introspective look at nature, self, the world around us and what hides just beneath the surface.
It is playful, mystical, dreamy, intense and at times enigmatic in that the listener may not always be able to "grab" what the author is attempting to put across.
