This week we blom with a good friend of mine, Thato Molete, a final year Digital Media Design honours student, artist and illustrator. We discuss social media, it’s effects on our mental health and the importance of “Digital Well-Being”.
We dive into how certain social media platforms have morphed into modern day echo chambers, how other platforms create warped senses of reality and ask ourselves “What keeps us scrolling?” After toying with the idea of locking our phones away altogether, Thato shares about her pursuit of a career in Digital Media Design and her tips on how to ensure a healthier relationship with social media.

This week I blom with Thando Soundy otherwise known as Clyde Soundy or Clyde Angelwing, a multi talented artist who creates art, music and spaces. He lets us in to his universe, taking us along the road to pursuing his design career and his career as a musician. From where the journey began in his days as a Wits Architecture student to how he keeps himself driven in his ambitions. We discuss the importance of mental health and physical well-being in the pursuit of our dreams & how he deals with self-doubt as an artist. To end things off, Angelwing discusses the response to his latest EP “These Days” where he can be found showcasing his assorted flair, appetite and passion for rap and music. Influenced by different genres and sounds, it is clear that Clyde Angelwing is not a musician that should be boxed in. This is certainly demonstrated in his first music video “Can’t Cope” where he is featured by friend and fellow musician Groovy.

This week we talk friendships with our girl gangs with art director and digital brand communicator HloniBooBoo & Sampa Nakamba, founder & managing director of ‘Rubi Trii’ and creative mind behind branding and design studio ‘Aunty Bob’. We unpack what it is about these friendships that makes us want to laugh, cry and twerk at the same time, how friendship dynamics change over time & what losing some of these friendships feels like. Finally, we reflect on those difficult moments in these friendships and the most significant lessons we have taken from these very special relationships.
This week we blom with personal trainer Tshiamo Sookane & a good friend, Kwena Mafojane. We discuss the phenomenon known as “The boys”, how they have been affected by toxic masculinity & why men find it difficult to hold one another accountable in their social circles. The boys give us some insight into why “boys don’t cry”, what healthy friendships and relationships look like for them as well as what their self-care routines entail.
In this episode we are joined by talented and ever-so-inspiring artist Naye Ayla and we ask the the age-old question- is there such a thing as “giving the goods up too soon?”
Being young, sexually liberated individuals, do we buy into the notion that having sex too soon in a relationship makes partners lose interest or makes them want to put in less of an effort? How do we draw the line between wanting to express ourselves sexually when and how we want to but also wanting to be taken seriously in our relationships?
We discuss the “cool girl” complex- what it means and more importantly, how did we get here? We also engage on the topic of “femininity” - what value does it hold for us as individuals? Do we feel less attractive when we are not considered the most feminine women in the room?
Finally, Naye Ayla touches on how her pursuit of music as a career began, the inspiration behind her latest single “Mercury” & what to expect from her in the future.
