Starting off the Sailcast episode, Andrew talks about the simple exposure that he received from the Junior Sailing Program and how his family (who double as his role models) made it the norm to go sailing often. Born in Toms River, NJ, Andrew made it to the West Coast to start the SDYC Junior Sailing Program around age 6 or 7. His father, Bill Campbell, sailed the ’92 America’s Cup and was Commodore nearly 15 years ago. “My family always used SDYC as the center of their universe,” he explains.

The Rogers have spent the last seven years cruising their Deerfoot 62’ Moonshadow around the world including Mexico, the Caribbean, South Pacific and Pacific. In 2016, Moonshadow and the Rogers were the finish boat at the 2016 Puerto Vallarta.
Host Alli Bell speaks with Nevin Snow about his extensive, successful sailing resume including two-time College Sailor of the Year, four-time All American Skipper, 2016 Match Racing Champion and 2017 49er North American Championships. Nevin is currently campaigning his 49er to the 2020 Olympics in Toyko.

Alli Bell (from Episode 0001) leads a discussion with SDYC Staff Commodore and J120 Sailor John Laun. John has been a member of SDYC since 1987, was Commodore in 2015 and is an active racer on his J120, Caper. He talks about his title as the “Most Interesting Sailor in the World” at his Commodore’s Roast. “I’m probably the least most interesting sailor in the world,” John jokes.
San Diego Sailcast welcomes US Finn Class President Joe Chinburg as our guest. Joe is in town from Colorado to race the Finn Pacific Coast Championship and the Finn Masters North American Championship regattas.
Dave Perry is known all around the country as an expert on the racing rules of sailing and as a Match Racing guru, having won the US Match Racing Championship 5 times. He has written books on both Match Racing and racing rules. Dave is a member of the Sailing World Hall of Fame and has dedicated much of his career volunteering with US Sailing, currently serving on its Board of Directors. He is a true ambassador for our sport and we are honored to have him with us at San Diego Yacht Club this weekend.
Professional Sailor and Point Loma High School Coach Steve Hunt joins us for the second episode of the San Diego Sailcast from the Cupola. Steve talks about his life growing up on the east coast, how he ended up in San Diego, coaching the best high school team in the country, and winning Etchells World Championships from the start of his Etchells sailing careet. His coaching philosophy translates from high school sailors to adults and Steve describes how his teams teach each other from within to raise their collective bar.

Our first guest is a life-long SDYC member, good friend of our host, Tiffany Billings, and the Race Committee Chair (which by the way, is open to non-members to join). Tiffany and Alli will talk about Alli’s journeys through three years of Transpac to Hawaii, her perspective on the awesomeness of the Race Committee here at SDYC. She also helps introduce our host, Tiffany, who has been hanging around SDYC since 2009 and after joining the Race Committee, joined the club nearly 5 years ago now (although she feels like it’s been longer).
