Each one of is is facing a different battle in our lives and a lot of us are tired. As we explore this chapter, we see David is fighting his battles and he's tired. God is sustaining him but more trails keep coming his way.
As we look at David's example, we see when faced with the difficulties of life, he faithfully runs to God first. Where do you run when you have problems and trials? Are you running to God, or are you running to others? Do you rely on God for strength, or do you rely on yourself?
We see David running to a wasteland, and the enemy continues to haunt him by Saul perusing him. In our own lives, sometimes we feel like we are in a wasteland and our enemy stirs up people against us even when we are doing nothing wrong.
Sometimes when the battle we are in feels like too much, we need to stop and realize that the battle is not our own. We are not in control of it, and we are fighting not in only in our flesh but in our spirit. How will we behave in our own battles? Will we trust in our God to fight for us. Or will we fight our battles in our own strength?
A common mistake of many divorced individuals is jumping into a new relationship that is too much, too soon. These relationships usually are a recipe for disaster if you have not allowed the time you need for your heart to heal properly.
In this message, we talk about why people jump into rebounds. Why rebounds don't usually fill the void in our hearts following divorce, and the things we should be focusing on instead.
We hope you enjoy this message brought to you by Anchored by Love Divorce Support Ministries - which is an outreach of Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel in Yucca Valley California.
If you are in the healing process from a divorce or loss of a significant love relationship, and you need help, we invite you to join us at Anchored by Love, which meets the first Thursday of every month in the Chapel at Joshua Springs at 6 PM.
Anchored by Love - Session 10
February 2nd, 2017 Anchored By Love Divorce Support Meeting
The New Year often signifies a fresh start in our minds, so a lot of us shoot for the moon with the changes we want to make in our lives. Unfortunately a lot of us fall off track pretty early on, and give up.
At this meeting we discuss some positive changes we can make this new year that are beneficial and realistic for the divorced Christian.
The path to healing after a loss of a marriage or significant relationship can be a rocky one. There are times where things seem okay, and there are times that we feel like our world is crashing around us.
Setbacks are inevitable in life, but what do we do when we encounter them? In session 5 of Anchored by love, we talk about 3 topics vital to surviving setbacks and tips to staying on the road to recovery and peach through Jesus.
Friendships and staying connected to the body of Christ, viewing people and situations realistically, and making Jesus the most important love in your life and holding on to hope are all positive steps in the healing process. Tune in to this episode as we discuss each topic in depth.
When a marriage has ended - the identity that the couple spent a lifetime creating together is fractured. Divorce can leave a lot of people feeling like they don't even know who they are anymore. The key to knowing your true identity is to have your worth and your hope planted firmly in Jesus Christ.
In this session we explore the foundations of rooting our identity in how our Savior sees us, not in how what the world thinks gives people their value.
Having an identity firmly rooted in God will give you that solid foundation you need to live a life worth living. If you are looking to anything other than God for your self worth - you are going to come up disappointed.
A vulnerable discussion that can lead to healing by taking a realistic look at your life. Although a lot of us are a mess, thank God that the Lord isn't going to leave us a that way.
After divorce a lot of us find find ourselves in unfamiliar territory: The dating world! This can be intimidating to navigate, but the Bible gives us a great guideline and goal for a healthy and happy relationship in the book of Ruth.
What kind of characteristics should we be looking for as we re-approach dating? And why do so many Christian women find Boaz so attractive?
Scripture References: Ruth 1-4, Galatians 5:9, 1 Corinthians 15:33, I Peter 3:7
A lot of us can find ourselves stuck in unhealthy patterns following divorce, where we dwell on the past or we worry about the future. The present is the only place where you have any kind of control or power over your life.. Living in the present is focusing on the blessings of each day.. In this episode we discuss "emotional triggers" that send us into tailspins in our healing, as well as things we can do to keep our focus on the here and now.
