Tracing Lines is a periodic podcast by Two Rivers Gallery, where our staff have conversations with some of the amazing artists we work with. If you’re looking for extra insight into an artist’s practice, work, exhibitions, or projects, you’ve come to the right place.

The Artists:
Aimée Henny Brown, an artist and educator of settler ancestry, completed her BFA at the University of Alberta and obtained her Masters in Fine and Media Arts at NSCAD University in 2007. Aimée’s artistic practice engages archives, research and printed matter to question historical content within her contemporary art practice.

Monique Motut Firth is a multidisciplinary visual artist, writer and educator working primarily in paper, paint and textiles. Her current works investigate the use of collage and photomontage as critical strategies for exploring the role of technical images in knowledge production and cultural representation.

About the Exhibition: The Tip of the Iceberg
Climate extremes, disrupted habitats, and sea level rise, like the tip of an iceberg, are the most apparent elements of a much bigger concern. Climate change, linked to an increase in greenhouse gasses, encompasses these and many other environmental factors that, in turn have social, political, and economic consequences. Through diverse media including photography, digital prints, sculpture, video and sound, the work of eleven BC-based artists explore climate change from different perspectives.
Exhibition Run: January 22nd to April 4th, 2021

The Artist:
Amanda Strong is a Michif interdisciplinary artist with a focus on filmmaking, stop motion animations and media art. Currently based on unceded Coast Salish territories also known as Vancouver, BC, Canada. Strong is the Owner/Director/Producer of Spotted Fawn Productions Inc.
Her solo exhibition is on at Two Rivers Gallery from October 23nd, 2020 – January 3rd, 2021.
About the Exhibition
iskocîsa (little fires) is an exhibition that places emphasis on the artistic process associated with stop-motion animation. By exhibiting a series of Strong’s films, along with sets, props and puppets used within her projects, visitors will feel like they are within the studio where they come to life – frame by frame. The Artist:
Nicola Harwood is a writer and interdisciplinary artist. Her background is in theatre and performance, particularly collaborative creation, feminist work and community engaged practice. Her solo exhibition, Summoning (No Words) is on exhibit at Two Rivers Gallery from July 30th - October 4th.

About the Exhibition
Summoning (No Words) is an interactive sound installation built of the female voice. The work responds to violence against women and is built from the original vocal compositions of seven Canadian female artists from different traditions and cultures. The sound experience changes as the audience moves though the exhibition space and activates motion sensors. Click here to learn more!

Corey Hardeman is a visual artist whose exhibition, Wandering the Edge of the World, will tour the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, British Columba. The exhibition will tour to:
- Mackenzie Community Arts Centre (Mackenzie, BC) August 13 - September 13th
- Valley Museum (McBride, BC) - September 24th October 18th
- Two Rivers Gallery (Prince George, BC) - October 29th to November 29th
About the Exhibition
Wandering the Edge of the World is an exhibition of paintings by visual artist Corey Hardeman. Her work is influenced by her training as a biologist, and she positions her work as an examination of her place among living things. Tangles of tree branches, flowers, and pools of water, are all depicted in close proximity so that the viewer feels immersed in the subject matter. Click here to learn more!

About the Exhibition
Vanderhoof based artist Annerose Georgeson has made the forest around her home a primary focus of her practice for the last two decades. This retrospective exhibition looks at Georgeson’s work over this time, tracing her journey through photography and drawing, mixed media and collage-based work, to painting in a variety of mediums.
