I often hear a prayer request asking to be closer to God or to know God more. And this is a good indication of your heart and a good request. What we need to remember is that there is no end to how much we can know about God. So he is just not going to pour all of himself onto us at one time. It will overwhelm us. One of the first things that we learn growing up is that we need to be obedient. It’s important for children to learn this because they don’t know what dangers could be around them and they need to understand that their parents want the best for them. The same is true with our relationship with God. Obedience is key to our spiritual growth, safety and destiny. This will be one of those episodes that you can listen to and then evaluate your own heart. Selfishness is one of those behaviour that can easily seep into a persons character. And once it’s in, it them impacts that person and all the people around them. As we read these verses today, I’m not here to condemn but to highlight what the Bible says so that we can judge ourselves and develop on our ability to love one another. Let’s get into it today.
We all are a product of the family we grew up in. Some of us came from a household where there was good things taught and some of us didn’t have that type of structure to learn these things. Over the course of my life I’ve learned alot from others as well as from my own upbringing in a Christian household. Now as a husband and father it’s my responsibility to lead my household in the ways of God. In today's episode I’m going to share some things that I do with my family that Are effective in leading and teaching your family in the ways of God. Now I know there are some single parent households where the mothers are the leaders of the house, but I’m predominantly speaking to the men although, if you are a woman you can absolutely follow these practices.

Kindness is an important character trait that is really hard to find in people. Recently I did something for someone else that showed kindness and my 5 year old son saw it and said “I’m giving you a sticker for showing kindness” and he walked over to me and put a sticker on my shirt. What my son did kind of inspired me to do this episode. When we are kind to others we show the love of Christ. Giving to other who can’t do something for themselves is what it’s all about. We all have things that we are praying to God for. Some of those things are needs. Some of those things are wants. But what happens most of the time is that the answer to those prayers are not seen right away. Some of you may be praying for a new vehicle, house, new job or spouse and maybe you’ve been have waiting for a while. There are others who are praying for more serious things like healing and food to eat and every day have to rely on God to just make it through that day. Wherever on the spectrum of need vs want your prayer request is on, we have to look at a few verses and check our hearts to see if we are the ones that are blocking the answers to our prayers. For those of you who don’t follow American Football, the Super Bowl was last week. This is the season finale where a champion is determined. This year the LA Rams won the Super Bowl. In addition to this, the top wide receiver on this team was awarded as Most Valuable Player. His name is Cooper Kupp and he had an amazing season where he had the most catches, yards and touchdowns in a season for a wide receiver this season. I’ve never heard him speak before but when they announced that he won MVP I finally got a chance to hear his heart in that moment. He sounded very humble and greatfull for the opportunity to play football and win the MVP. During the post-game interview he shared how God gave him a vision and God caused that vision come to pass during the Super Bowl. Here is a short clip of his interview when he shared his vision. There are some things that we can learn from his experience that I’ll share in a moment.

The word discernment means “the ability to judge well.” In a Christian context it means “obtaining spiritual guidance and understanding.” With all the fake news and people playing broken telephone with important information we need to have discernment that will allow us to sift through the bad information and find what is true in order to make well informed decisions. Habakkuk 2:2-3 says the following:
“And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay”
We need to have some vision or direction for every area of our lives. We have to want to achieve something or strive for something. If you don’t have a vision for your life you will allow your circumstances dictate where you go in life. It’s also a good practice to write this vision or plan down and I’ve found that it’s will help you to achieve it when it’s written down. It’s better you do this for yourself rather than God or someone else humble you. 1 Peter 5:7 says that we can cast all our anxieties on him because we cares for us. I had to remind myself of this over and over recently as I started to think something was hopeless. But with God there is always hope. I turned my care over to God and used that emotion to cry out to God with my whole heart. There are a lot of examples of people pouring out their heart and crying out to God for help. When it’s all but hopeless, they cried out and God answered their request. We have to believe that as we cry out to God that he will answer our request as well. Let me share some examples from the Bible of this to build up your faith.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a Christian for. Your relationship with God is more important than the religious things that you do. Even if those religious activities are directly connected to your church ministry. We don’t want to be so caught up in doing things for God that we forget to keep a fresh relationship with God for ourselves. And I have to confess here. I had to consider myself and this podcast. For a moment of time maybe for some weeks, I was reading my Bible regularly but everything I was reading was for the sake of the podcast and not for strengthening my personal relationship with God. I got in a religious habit of doing work without cultivating a relationship with God. The Holy Spirit spoke to me on that and I changed my behaviour and schedule to spend quality time with God again. In this episode I’m going to go over some examples from the Bible that highlight relationship over religion.

We really need to remember the price that Jesus paid for us. Because of His sacrifice for us we don’t need to come to God with animal sacrifices every time we fall short of his mark. Through reading the Bible I’ve seen that there are so many sins that should result in the death penalty. Like murder, adultery, etc. The penalty in the Old Testament for these sins was death. You might say those are really bad sins and the death penalty is probably justified. But I want to highlight some other sins and situations that when committed, the penalty was death. Some of these things that I’m talking about may seem excessive to think that they deserve death but according to Gods standard, he requires absolute holiness from his people and he can’t go back on his word.
Thanks be to our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ who is the fulfillment of ALL of these Old Testament laws. He who knew No Sin, became sin in order that we might become the righteousness of God, in Christ Jesus. To God be all the glory.

The Kendrick Brothers exists to honor Jesus Christ and make His truth and love known among the nations. They have been making movies since 2003. They’ve created the movie Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous, War Room and Overcomer. At the time when this episode is being released they have just released a new documentary styled movie called “Show Me the Father”. Everyone has a unique father story. Our goal as Christians to so serve others with the love of Christ and share the Good news of the Gospel. The truth is that some people who we encounter don’t receive that message. Some flat out reject it. But it’s important to understand the different reasons why a person would not accept the life changing message of the Gospel because then we can equip ourselves to better evangelize to them. If you ever encounter a person who you recognize any of these excuses, make sure you pray for them and be lead by the Holy Spirit in future conversations. It’s the Holy Spirit that will bring them in. There’s nothing new under the sun so let’s see some of the excuses that people might give that have also been identified in the bible.

How many of you listening can explain to a non-believer or skeptic of the bible why you believe it in? If you say anything that references any part of the Bible then it doesn’t prove to someone who doesn’t believe in the bible that is true. The fact of the matter is not many Christians can articulate what makes the bible true or why they believe in the bible more than any other religious book. I recently read an article written by Hank Hanegraaff on the reliability of the Bible. Hank also host a podcast called the Bible Answer Man Broadcast. In his article he went over an acronym that you can use to explains the authenticity and reliability of the bible. It’s called MAPS. I’m going to go over it today and you can learn and easily remember how to explain why you believe in the bible.

In this episode I’m going to talk about Gods Character. The world often tries to describe who God is based on their experience or they try to portray a god that fits into the box of their life. They do a terrible job at this because they don’t know him and as a result it hard for people to wrap their mind around the true loving nature of God. They can’t grasp how much God wants to encourage them and do them good all the days of their lives. They say “Acts of God” are when disasters happen but they don’t understand or comprehend that God is capable of doing great amazing things that are in our favour because of His great love for us.

There’s a lot of false information and fear being spread today all caused by the pandemic that we are still in. As of the time of recording, I’m in June 2021 and it looks like there is hope for us to begin a new normal as we come out of the pandemic. If you’re like me, you probably been having church online or outdoor service for a while. No large gatherings and non-essential retail stores have been closed. But as we emerge, there are a lot of falsehoods being shared and misinformation being consumed by people on social media.
I would like to use the platform of this podcast to share hope and to equip you on how you can discern the truth and why I believe we are approaching the last days but are not there yet. In all theology there is an aspect of psychology because the mind needs to be renewed in order to grasp the concept of God. This is why Romans 12:1-2 is such an important verse for all Christians. I know there are a few bible verses that speak about disciplining children but I never studied it before preparing for this episode and I was amazed at the wisdom that I was able to learn from scriptures. Parental discipline is enormously important in the growth and development of every child. If you look at teens with behavioural issues or adults in prison, when you investigate back into their lives more often then not, there was a lack of parental discipline as a child. So parents, you have to do this, and you have to do it right.

It’s often one of the hardest things to do. Wait on God‘s timing. The reason why this might be so hard is because God never really tells us the exact time he’s going to actually answer our prayer or do something. It just happens when he’s ready. So the challenge for us is to wait until that time comes when we don’t even know when that time will be. So regardless of what the prayer request is we need to always remember what the word of God says about asking. Asking God for anything that we need is not wrong actually he encourages us to ask him for anything that our hearts desires. And it’s in asking him that he can show himself strong and provide everything you need in your life. So why do you need healing financial breakthrough help finding a house to live in or if you just want peace from your enemies you have the right to go to God in prayer and ask him and they are promises in the word of God given to us that he will give you answers to those prayers so that’s what we’re going to talk about today.

We need to make sure that we take the time to think carefully about what we allow into our minds. Today it is simply too easy for anyone to go online and say anything and some people are so naive they will believe anything without getting truth to support it. One that I’ve heard recently is that the covid 19 vaccine is the mark of the beast and that you shouldn’t take it. This makes absolutely no sense because when we take that lie and hold it against the scriptures in Revelations we would see that the mark of the beast is mentioned after the Church has been raptured, the anti-Christ would’ve been revealed and the tribulation would’ve already started. So the vaccine being the mark of the beast is completely not accurate because it doesn’t line up with scripture. This is the type of careful thought that we need to give to the things that we face today and that is what this episode is about.

This is the reason I love doing this podcast. Most of these episodes come out of my life and situations that I am in or had to deal with. I have a enemy right now trying to get under my skin and holding me back. During one of my bible study groups a couple of people mentioned that I should pray for him and reminded me on why we need to pray for our enemies. So I stared to study the Bible during my devotional time and this episode is what I was meditating on as I was praying for him. For you if could be your boss, your neighbour, a classmate or someone else. The bible gives us some insight on how we are to deal with our enemies and reminds us on what our behaviour should be. This will be a good one to let’s get into it.

It says in Romans 3:22-24 that “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
If two men are running to try to catch a plane and one ends up being 1 hour late. The other ends up being 1 minute late, the result is the same. Both men missed the plane. With regards to sin, we all sin and there is no sin that is too bad that Gods grace can’t cover. There are no perfect people and we all need Gods grace. Since we all have the capacity to sin at any moment, we all will need to get over it and return into relationship with God. This is where condemnation can come in and cause us to get stuck in a spiral of guilt and condemnation.

The word ego is defined as “a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance.”
This may be difficult to detect in ourselves but we need to always be honest and evaluate ourselves regularly. We are all important in God’s sight and we should treat others with the proper respect. Where we need to be careful is when we allow our view of ourselves to make us think that we are more important than the other people around us. This is when we need to keep our ego in check in order to have good relationships with others. Also, be aware of people who have egos that make you feel less that who you are which is a child of the Most High God.

We all have to work but we don’t have to hate our work. In Genesis God created the garden of Eden and then placed Adam in the garden to care for it. We see here that God placed Adam in paradise which is what the Garden of Eden was and gave him something productive to do. The same is true today. God wants to place us in the perfect environment where we will enjoy working and be productive.

You may have read one of the four gospels or one of Jesus’ parables. He uses the analogy of faring and seed and harvest time often. We need to remember this principal because it still governs our results today. If you want to become a great basketball player, you have to sow the seed of practice time. If you want to have a good marriage, you have to sow into your marriage, quality time with your spouse and resources that will help you get a good marriage. If you have to have a good productive day, you have to sow a good night’s rest the night before. Seed time and harvest time will remain forever and this principal is operating in more ways than you think. Let’s go into the bible to see what it says about seed time and harvest.

In Second Corinthians 12:7, Paul talks about a thorn in his flesh. By now we have all heard of the murder of George Floyd in the US by a police officer. This is only one of a number of murders that police officers have committed against unarmed black men. This episode will be a little different from my usual episodes but share what I feel is the Christians response to racism.
The love of God is in the centre of everything in the bible and when you study out every book of the bible you will see it's a giant love story that God is trying to tell us. God is not angry or constantly looking down to try and inflict pain and judgement on us. He is looking down from heaven with eyes of love and trying to get us to see that He loves us more than we know.

Revelations 3:15-16 says I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
This chapter was written to the church of Laodicea and because of Laodiceas geographical location, the water from the hot springs of Hierapolis was merely lukewarm by the time it reached Laodicea and it was neither sanitary nor refreshing. As Christians we should desire to be hot for Jesus… We’re going to go over how to do that today.

We have authority in the name of Jesus!! It’s up to us to exercise that authority through all that we do. God has called us to do His will on the earth and to do it we need to know the authority and power we were given in the name of Jesus. He has given us his name and we have the Word of God to use to exercise the God given authority that we have. Authority over your household, business, family or anything else that God has called you to do.

If you've been a Christian for any period of time, you would’ve gone through a challenging time where there was a need for healing, or if you were short money to pay your rent or mortgage, or your car broke down and left you stranded on the road. Sometimes the enemy come in and causes trouble in our lives but the devil can’t spend your money, he can’t drive your car and he doesn’t need your health. Then why do these things happen? Why does God allow us to go through these situations?
We have to look at situations through a different perspective when they happen. They don’t to break us but to push us closer to God. In every negative scenario that you can be in there is either a positive or negative reaction that you can have. And it’s your reaction that determines how fast you grow spiritually and also how long you remain in that negative circumstance.

God is using this pandemic of COVID 19 to get our attentions. There is no more important time to get your life right with Jesus than now. I am currently doing a small group bible study on the book of Revelations and TRUST ME… You don’t want to be left behind on the earth when the tribulation occurs.
The bible says that no man can know the time or the hour of Jesus’ return (Matthew 24) In this episode I’m going to just go over some verses from the bible that show you that the time is coming close for Jesus return.

As children of God we don’t need to be fearful of this pandemic. We need to remember what the Word of God says and stand on His promises.
