Host Alex shares their journey of experiencing firsthand the profound effects of community work. From lending a helping hand to receiving support in times of need, they recount how genuine connections within a community have shaped their life.
We examine the concept of "community" and how its meaning has evolved in the age of social media, often diluted by parasocial relationships and commercial interests. Despite this, we uncover the authentic value of community in fostering meaningful relationships and providing genuine support.
Touching on the financial aspect, we discuss how a community can serve as a lifeline for those in need, highlighting the importance of reaching out and seeking help when facing challenges. We explore the idea that while you may not have what you need, someone within your community might be willing to lend a helping hand or offer valuable resources.
Furthermore, we emphasize the significance of networking, showcasing how your connections can be a valuable asset in navigating both personal and professional endeavors. As the saying goes, "Your network is your net worth," highlighting the potential currency in genuine relationships and community ties.
Ultimately, this episode reminds you that you don't have to navigate life's journey alone. I'm covering the untimely murder of 36-year-old Steve McNair, a former NFL player. Steve was just 36 years old when he was murdered by his 19-year-old girlfriend. Unfortunately, after his passing, it was discovered that he didn't have a signed will. Leaving his estate to his wife Mechelle and his children. However, McNair's mother had to move out of the house he had purchased for her after Mechelle became the owner after his passing and was requiring rent.
It's important to have a will even if you feel like you have absolutely nothing to pass along.

Like many of you guys, I’ve spent much of my time sifting through tweets and Instagram posts. Watching videos of the protest happening across the country. It’s a lot for me to take in and I’m just sad. Personally, I’ve struggled with not going to the protests happening here in Atlanta. I just didn't think that it’s where I’d be the most useful. I think that all those who are protesting are incredibly brave and I don’t even think a million thank you’s would even be enough. They are fighting for us, real-life heroes. Donating money to the cause is a great start, however, I still want to do more. This is why today’s episode will be about White Flight + The Wage Income Gap specifically in Atlanta. But before we get started, I do encourage everyone to watch the movie Just Mercy. It’s free to watch on YouTube and the film stars Michael B Jordan and Jamie Foxx. I pretty much wept during the whole movie. If there’s absolutely one thing that everyone should be doing during this time, it’s educating themselves. With that being said, let’s get into today’s episode.

Hey guys! Welcome back to another episode of Financial Flex with Lex. Where we change the way we talk about money.
For today’s episode, we have a two minute Tuesday...on a Wednesday!
Right now, things aren’t so normal for us, and so many of us are left in a vulnerable position, especially when it comes to our money. This is why I thought it would be appropriate to do a quick episode on the scams that are happening during this pandemic. It’s important to be extremely cautious and aware (if you aren’t already) with your money because the scammers are out and lurking.

On today's episode, I'm sharing how John and I were able to pay off John's student loans. John had around $20,000 in student loans and prior to getting married, he had paid off a good portion. After the wedding & honeymoon, we decided to get crazy and pay off the remaining balance in just THREE months.
I understand that things may seem a little "easier" because we are a two-income household, but we still make sacrifices and live way below our means in order to meet our goals.
How We Did It + John paid rent & utilities while my paychecks went towards loans + Following a budget + Taking money from our 'overfunded' emergency fund + Putting monetary wedding gifts towards the debt + PERSEVERANCE!!!!
