YSIG ASMR Podcast: Recent Episodes

Natalie Que

This podcast is running tangetially to my main podcast; Your Spinout is Gorgeous. In my main podcast, I discuss rock bottoms, broadcasting my values that not only our pinnacles of achievement, experience and character strengths are worthy of exploration and adulation.

In this podcast I explore the story within the story of creating and distributing that podcast.

And I crinkle some stuff in the mic, exploring what makes for good ASMR.

Reparenting can be an extremely transformative experience.

Delta Brain Waves:

When Delta waves increase our awareness of the physical world decreases. This enables us to access information in our unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is made up of the processes in the mind that occur automatically and are not available to introspection.

The Delta frequency is the slowest of the brainwave frequencies. Delta waves occur in both deep, dreamless sleep and during transcendental meditation.

Delta is the realm of your unconscious mind and the gateway to the universal and collective unconscious. Information received here is often unavailable at the conscious level.

Deep sleep is important for the healing process as it aids with deep healing and regeneration. And that’s why not having enough deep sleep is detrimental to your health in more ways than one.

Binaural Beats General Information from Healthline:

Let’s say you’re listening to a sound in your left ear that’s at a frequency of 132 Hertz (Hz). And in your right ear, you’re listening to a sound that’s at a frequency of 121 Hz. Your brain, however, gradually falls into synchrony with the difference — or 11 Hz. Instead of hearing two different tones, you instead hear a tone at 11 Hz (in addition to the two tones given to each ear).

Binaural beats are considered auditory illusions. For a binaural beat to work, the two tones have to have frequencies less than 1000 Hz, and the difference between the two tones can’t be more than 30 Hz. The tones also have to be listened to separately, one through each ear. Binaural beats have been explored in music and are sometimes used to help tune instruments, such as pianos and organs. More recently, they have been connected to potential health benefits.

Meditation is the practice of calming the mind and tuning down the number of random thoughts that pass through it. A regular meditation practice has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, slow down the rate of brain aging and memory loss, promote emotional health, and lengthen attention span. Practicing meditation regularly can be quite difficult, so people have looked to technology for help.

Binaural beats between 1 and 30 Hz are alleged to create the same brainwave pattern that one would experience during meditation. When you listen to a sound with a certain frequency, your brain waves will synchronize with that frequency. The theory is that binaural beats can help create the frequency needed for your brain to create the same waves commonly experienced during a meditation practice. The use of binaural beats in this way is sometimes called brainwave entrainment technology.

Theta Brain Waves:

Theta waves are associated with dreaming sleep, super learning, creativity, daydreaming, and deep meditation. And with emotional surges, self-reprogramming, and spiritual experiences.

If you’re interested in improving your problem-solving, spiritual connection, intuition, imagination, creativity, and physical relaxation, you’ll want to spend more time in theta.

But if you want to be focused on any specific task, though, you don’t want your brain in theta. Theta is NOT the ideal state for concentrated, focused mental activity

Mental Openness: Your Gateway to Super-Learning

Using your imagination in theta removes the judgments and constraints of the logical mind, and allows for unbridled creativity

Alpha Brain Waves:

Neuroscientists recently made a correlation between an increase of alpha brain waves—either through electrical stimulation or mindfulness and meditation—and the ability to reduce depressive symptoms and increase creative thinking.

When alpha oscillations are prominent, your sensory inputs tend to be minimized and your mind is generally clear of unwanted thoughts.

Alpha wave biofeedback has been shown to be a useful tool for treating anxiety and depression. Because alpha waves are linked with relaxed mental states, an increase in alpha wave activity is the goal of most biofeedback training

Beta Waves specific Information:

Beta brainwaves dominate our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a 'fast' activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity.

If you're new to Binaural Beats, here is some interesting and compelling info from Healthline in general:

When you hear two tones, one in each ear, that are slightly different in frequency, your brain processes a beat at the difference of the frequencies. This is called a binaural beat.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you’re listening to a sound in your left ear that’s at a frequency of 132 Hertz (Hz). And in your right ear, you’re listening to a sound that’s at a frequency of 121 Hz. Gamma Waves specific Information:

Gamma brain waves are the fastest brainwave frequency with the smallest amplitude. They are associated with the “feeling of blessings” reported by experienced meditators, such as monks and nuns. Gamma waves are associated with peak concentration and high levels of cognitive functioning.

Neuroscientists believe that gamma waves are able to link information from all parts of the brain. This rapid “full sweep” action makes the gamma state one of peak mental and physical performance. Gamma is the brainwave state of being “in the zone.”
