Everyone knows love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, and self-control. But what about GENTLENESS? What does it truly mean to be gentle?
God is patient with us, even when we don't deserve it. So shouldn't we try to be patient when everyday setbacks and annoyances to bother us?
Followers of Jesus are called to walk by the Spirit, not by the world. But what does that practically look like? This week, Rachel does a deep dive on what it means to bear the first fruit of the spirit- love.
What's worse - doubting God or thinking you have it all figured out?
Almost everyone has experienced a faith crisis at some point. But having doubt doesn't mean you don't love God or have any faith at all. The real crisis kicks in when we think we know everything about an infinite God. But what do you do when you have gotten to that point of being completely unsure if you still believe in God and His goodness?
Grief is a proper response to loss. But faith in unwavering God is exactly what we need in times of loss. God is with you in your loss and He is bigger than your loss.

Let's face it- no one likes change. Our brains love consistency. We are hardwired to resist change. But change is inevitable. When it comes to these times of transition, we can go in one of two ways - stray away from God or have faith in Him. Which will you pick?
What do you think of when you think of faith? It's a religious word that gets thrown around all the time. "Faith" and "Belief" are often used interchangeably. But what faith really is, and how it plays out in our lives, may be completely different than what you think.
It seems that if God is really good, that there would be no pain or suffering in the world. In this message, we talk about where suffering comes from and how God is involved. We don’t have all the answers, but we believe in having the conversation.
We all face temptation. Our first instinct is to try and fight the craving with willpower. But there is a deeper issue. It’s starts in the heart. Why do we really give in to temptation? And how can we see through the bait to the trap behind it?
Your words literally have the potential to change the lives of others. Looking at Ephesians 4, we learn how to speak life and help others become who they were created to be.
Proverbs says the careless words stab like a sword. Our words can literally bring death to others, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. So how can we make sure we aren't going through life stabbing others needlessly by the way we talk?
Do our words really matter that much? They're just noise. Surely they can't be that powerful. But they are! Words have changed nations and cultures. So where do our words come from? And what can we do about it?

God is obsessed with the ONE. One sheep. One coin. One son.
Once we get home, our attention should also shift to the one. Who is the one who isn't home and what must we do to reach them?
What's so good about living in God's house? Aren't there rules and expectations? Of course there are. But there are benefits that can't be matched from our worldly lives. So the question is: are we going to settle for a tent? Or live in an eternal home?
While we can make a decision to follow God in an instant, it takes time to "get home" and for our lives to actually change. The journey doesn't happen overnight. It's a process. It's not easy, but it's best.

We have all been given a gift by God, and that gift is purpose! Everything that exists has purpose and so we should know ours. You were created on purpose for a purpose.
If you want to show Jesus to the world, it's time that you live a life of service. And if you are thinking that you don't like the sound of that, perhaps you need this message. We all do!
So many people don't follow Jesus because his followers don't look like Him. So, it is crucial that we be people of character, willing to do what is right, according to God, regardless of the cost. Character matters!
Worship isn't religious. It's something we all do, whether we know it or not. So what does worship have to do with God? And why is it so important for us to participate in?
Nobody likes fake people. We strive to be a place where people can be real and share the good, bad, and the ugly of their lives. It's only when we are real that we can truly be changed.
We don't want to be a place where people have to try to fit in. We want to be a place where they BELONG, no matter what they look like, talk like, act like, or believe.
If we are going to follow Jesus and call Him Lord, then we are called to be about what He is about. So what is He about? And what does it have to do with us?
People have a lot of opinions when it comes to Jesus. Some say He was a moral teacher. Others say He was a prophet. Still others say He was just a normal person.
People in Jesus' day had the same confusion and a variety of opinions. Jesus, however, came with a very specific claim. He claimed to be God. And He asks all of us, "Who do you say I am?"
Why did Jesus come to earth? What was His purpose? If we don't understand why Jesus came, then we will have trouble following Him.
Did Jesus even exist? Is there any evidence that shows that He is a real person? And if He did exist, who was He? What was He like?
In this message, we share evidence for the existence of Jesus and share what the eyewitnesses of His life said about who He was by looking at John 1.
Prayer is one of the most talked about things in all of Christianity. Most people do it, whether they believe in God or not.
But what is it? Is it as complicated as it seems? Or is it possible that it is so much more simple and powerful than we think?
What is the church? Why does it exist? What is our role in it?

We typically doubt things that we don't understand. One of the main reasons Christians walk away from faith and non-Christians don't give it a chance is because we are missing the point of Christianity. In this message, we aim to confront this doubt and get to the core of our faith.
For some reason, we often find ourselves going back to the very things we have been set free from. It seems ridiculous, but it happens. And when we look at the nation of Israel, we see 3 reasons for going back to sin that we often fall victim to as well.
If we want to get to freedom, we have to stay on the right path. Jesus told us exactly what that path is...and it's Him. If we follow Jesus, He sets us free from 4 possible traps that we often find ourselves stuck in.
We all desire freedom...we just have different ways of getting there. For the most part, humans see freedom as doing what we want to do. But God has different definition of freedom and it leads to a far different place than doing what we want to do.
Find a place to sit where you are comfortable and won't be distracted. Calm your body and mind and let's reflect on what it means to be set free by God.
As Christians, we are called to care about justice because God loves justice. Part of caring is getting closer to the pain of people and that is what we aim to do in these conversations.
Sex is good. It's not evil. And it's not inherently sinful. However, just like most things, there are positives and negatives associated with it. The good news is that God has given us boundaries meant to protect us from the dangers of sex, while still experiencing the benefits of it. And when we will trust God and submit to His boundaries, we will experience the best sex possible!
We all have a list and a type when it comes to dating and relationships, don’t we? We often talk about finding “The One”. But Jesus never focused us on changing others, he focused us on our own growth and journey. And He gave us a principle in the sermon on the mount that can radically change our dating life, even though dating didn’t exist at the time. You have more control on your romance life than you think!
We all have people in our lives that we want to follow Jesus. But so often, they don't seem interested in coming to church. So what do we do? And how can we possibly reach billions of people who don't know Jesus? Jesus gave us the plan in a story about farming. It's simpler than you might think.
We all have a champion in our life. It's whoever or whatever we depend on most, especially when the pressure is high. When life is falling apart, what do we turn to? As we look at the account of David and Goliath, there is so much more than a battle between a boy and a giant. It is calling us to look deeper and consider who our champion really is. Who/what is your champion?
We believe that questions should be encouraged, not discouraged! In this conversation, we discuss and respond to many of the common questions we get at church.
What does Paul mean when he says that "love always hopes"? What is hope? How can we put that into action in our daily lives? In this message, Jacob breaks down what hope does in our relationships and shows us how it can radically change our perspective on life.
Did you know that you have the power to bring out the best in people and help them become who God made them to be? The key is in our willingness to be confident in others. This is what it means to say the love always trusts.
Note: The action step portion at the end of sermon was cut out. But our action step for this sermon is to have an "ICNU" conversation with ONE person this week. This means that you encourage them and show confidence in them by sharing one thing you see in them. Go do it!
What do you think of when you hear that love protects? Does this mean we are to run around like vigilantes and physically fight to protect others? Possibly. But there is far more to this idea than simple physical protection. In this message, Rachel shares about what true protection looks like.
The longest and most hard to follow characteristic of love can be found in 1 Corinthians 13:6 where is says that "love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth". What does this mean and what does it have to do with love? It may seem random, but this verse has a lot to do with the influence we have on the people around us and how we use it.
When people hurt us, we often hold on to it. We are really good at keeping score. But God’s kind of love does something different. Rather than holding on to how others hurt us, it looks past it and let’s it go. This is a message we can all get better at it!
A lot of us don't feel like we struggle with anger and rage. But you probably find yourself getting irritated daily. And when we are irritated easily, we find it really difficult to be loving towards others. God's love bends and doesn't break when it gets irritated.
Out of all the characteristics listed in 1 Corinthians 13, this one may be the most important when it comes to living out God's love. If we live selfishly focused on ourselves, we can't hope to love like Jesus. In this message we talk about why it's so hard to be selfless and why it's so necessary.
Honoring others is sometimes really easy. It’s easy to honor those who are powerful and influential. But Jesus shows us a different kind of honor. One that is far more difficult, yet infinitely more powerful.
Pride and boasting are unattractive and push people away. It’s no wonder that God’s version of love is incompatible with both. In Luke 18, Jesus shows us how they prevent us from loving like Him, while also giving us the key to living life without them.
Envy is really comparison. And when you constantly compare yourself to others, it makes it very difficult to love them. In this talk, we discuss the key to living a life not controlled by comparison.
Kindness has power. It can restore broken relationships, bring together strangers, and break down walls between groups of people. We look at what it means to actually show kindness through the story of Jesus and a widow in Luke 7.
What does patience have to do with love? It doesn't seem like it would be that important. But in a culture that has trained us to be impatient, patience is more powerful than ever! So what is patience and how can it change the world?
Sometimes following Jesus seems really complicated. There are so many commands that we often want to know what really matters. This isn't a new question! People were asking this question in Jesus' day and He answered. He gave us an idea and command that applies to all situations and makes following Him so clear.

If you really want to understand and grow from your time in His Word, one of the best things you can do is understand what the Bible is. In this message, we break it down as simply as we can.
Have you ever tried to manage your sin? It never seems to work. The only way to defeat sin is to allow Jesus to actually have control over it! As long as we're in control, our sin will be out of control!
Have you ever done something you regretted? Wouldn't you like to live a life free of regrets and consequences? The story of Judas shows us what sin does to us and the story of Jesus shows us a new way of living.
Sometimes our faith can become overly dependent on others instead of on Jesus. Has Corona Virus exposed your relationship with God?
What's the point of our struggles? Of hard ships? Of the Covid-19?

What is love? There is a difference between the love the world talks about and the love that Jesus talked about. And so we will get into what true love is as God defines it in John 4:7-21.
Did you know there is one thing that causes you to do everything you do? When you do good things or stupid things or bad things, it all comes from one place. John writes about it in 1 John 3:11-4:6.
John tells us that we have two options in life: to go along with the culture of the world or to follow the culture of God. Which one will you go with? Join us as we look at 1 John 2:15-3:10.

When we hear the word worship, most of us have a certain picture come into our mind. We relate it to church or God or religion. But many of us of a limited view of worship. What is worship really? And what does it have to do with you?

So many of us go through life wondering why we exist, what the point of life is, or what our purpose is. The good news is that our creator made each of us with a simple and fulfilling purpose for our lives!
Who we are, or who we THINK that we are, changes what we do. Many of our worst decisions came about because we thought we were somebody that we were not. So how do we make sure that we live from our actual identity?
Who are you? Where does your identity come from? Are we the product of our past, what people say about us, what we are good at, or is there something more?
No matter who you are or what you believe, we are all building our lives on some type of foundation. For some, it is our faith, for others, money, relationships, success, or something else. But no matter who you are, we all want to build our life on something secure and trustworthy. As we look at the song Castles by Lindsey Sweat, we will find out what that foundation is.
So often we think God should do what we want, when we want it. And when He doesn't come through like we thought, we get angry. But God's true promise to us is not that He will always fix the situation, but that He will be WITH us through it.
All of us are going to face evil and suffering, whether we follow God or not. But God has promised us that He can take ANYTHING, even the worst evil, and bring about good, if we continue to trust in Him and stand firm in Him.
We have a God who is both resurrected and resurrecting. He brings life from death in our relationships, sin, addictions, fears, and more. We will look at this as we see what Resurrecting by Elevation Worship says about our God.
It is so easy to get distracted in 2019, especially from a relationship with Jesus. As we look at the song Nothing Else (Cody Carnes) and the example of Mary, we can see what it means to put Jesus above all distractions and other things in our lives and how that can change us.
If Jesus "drops the rock" and offers grace instead of condemnation, many times it leads us to asking this question: If we are offered forgiveness for all sin, can't we just do whatever we want? In this sermon, we talk about that question and what Jesus and the Apostle Paul say about it.
There are two things we consistently mix up with judgment. These two things are conviction and accountability. And while these two might feel like judgment, the reality is that they are good for us and will lead to a place far different than judgment. Hear how they can change your life for the better!
We look at John 8 to discover what judgment really is, what it is not, and what our God offers instead.
We often wonder where God is, why we don't feel closer to Him, or whether He is even paying attention to us. If you have ever felt this way, this word is for you!
Sex is desirable, tempting, and part of human nature. So it's no wonder that it is so hard to honor God in this area! But African buffaloes and the Apostle Paul both have very helpful and practical advice for all of us in how to experience freedom in the area of sex.
When Jesus talked about sex, he didn't mention virginity. He didn't tell us how far we could go without sinning. Instead, he gave a teaching that would address sexual sin at its source and would apply to all cultures, situations, and technology.
Reckless love should never END with us. We are called to take God's reckless love and share it with others by the way that we live!
The love of God for us cost Him everything. But He didn't simply send His Son and forget about us. He continues to pursue us, to show us His love, and to chase us down even when we run away. God's pursuit of us proves how much He loves us.
How could the words reckless and love possibly go together? How could a perfect God be described as reckless? The truth is that the Gospel is a story of God's reckless love for his people and what He would do to save them.
So many people are dealing with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts in our world today. We hear these words getting thrown around, but what are they really?
