Today, we continue the conversation with John, an experienced investigator with the Queensland Police for the past 11 years.

But his past definitely would not have dictated his future when he became one of few to go undercover – for 3 years!

Born in the Philippines, he felt like he was “dragged from home to home” when his mother left and he never heard the words “I love you” echoed from anyone’s lips – ever!

He landed in the home of his seriously abusive Auntie, who he still gets chills recalling how much he feared her. The only person who paid him any attention was his Gangster grandfather who taught him the ropes. This made him perfect prey for a group of men who would educate him on how to survive the slums of the Philippines.

Who knew that the “hustler” he was training to be would actually make him the perfect agent to go undercover one day. Thank goodness for that serendipitous moment years later in Australia, when he happened to glimpse an Asian Police Officer filling his cop car with petrol. This so speaks to the power of “seeing really IS believing”.

After getting into the police academy and working himself to the bone to please everyone around him, he then decided that he would apply to get into the Defence Forces as well – at the same time. Only someone who feels that its never enough would try and pull that one off!

John has recently awoken to the fact that it all his “go go go” attitude stemmed from his deep and incessant need to please and be loved!

After working undercover for all those years, he has re-emerged with a deep desire to reach out to “the children”…the ones who feel abandoned like he was and who feel so alone that they crave love in whatever way they can get it. This often leads to above the line successes like John has had yet acknowledging the deep addiction to VALIDATION which comes with its own destructive patterning. Many other times, these abandoned kids become the ones John ends up putting behind bars for criminal behaviour. Imagine what could have been thwarted at the pass with some loving kindness and a compassionate understanding heart!

John, you are so the man for that job!

We are excited to give you a glimpse of real Super Couples taking part in my new book "PressPlay" from my website as of March 14th!!

This week's couple Binny & Randi took on the final of the book: Chapter 12's "Get Jiggy With It".

Find out how they went!

Intro:
Piecing tonight’s game together is a childhood joy of mine. “Get Jiggy With It” was the brainchild of the simple and connective pastime between my Mom and I. We did hundreds of puzzles together and affixed them on our walls as a memory.

Apparently, I am not the only puzzle lover in the world: Aussie actor Hugh Jackman “the Wolverine” is famous for his daily puzzles and conviction that the resat of his family will fall in love with them too!

My later study in neuroscience would shine a broader lens over the far reaching benefits of puzzling. Our brain has an inherent tendency to organize chaos and so our childhood flair for locking pieces together is no accident. It’s just that our adult selves sometimes need a bit more permission to take on the task in later life.

Super couple Binny and Randi found a way to play this game while renovating and living out of their home for the past 3 months. Now that’s commitment! With 2 children and more than a decade together, they have learned the art of “fit-ting together”. As only a human-rights lawyer and electrical engineer can…

I am looking forward to finding out what happened to you two when you both started puzzling…

We are excited to give you a glimpse of real Super Couples taking part in my new book "PressPlay" (available for purchase March 2023).

This week's couple Aleisha & Hayden took on Chapter 7 called "Vision Boards Brought to Life"

Find out how they went!

Intro:
I have the pleasure this afternoon of speaking with a couple that I have tracked into the stunning hills of New Zealand in order to get their experience of playing Chapter 7 of my book “Vision Boarding Your Common Dreams”.

This particular GAME takes some forethought and preparation. It becomes well worth the effort for the focus, clarity and intention it brings to you life and relationship. Putting your dreams out into the world is a secret ingredient that allows “others” to become cooperative components in its realisation. How can people help you, if your dreams remain tucked into the recesses of your imagination??

Popular American Life Coach Martha Beck furthers this by stating: “The (vision)board itself doesn't impact reality; what changes your life is the process of creating the images—combinations of objects and events that will stick in your subconscious mind and steer your choices toward making the vision real.”

She continues on to state, that the key is “Regularly picturing delights that don't yet exist, emotionally detaching from them, and jumping into action when it's time to help the miracles occur.”

So, who better to bring this Game to life than Aleisha Cootes, a woman that inspired me more than a decade ago to fall more in love with the focus of couples and relationships.

After much world travel, her and husband Hayden, married 15yrs, moved back to their homeland of New Zealand and brought their dream to life by building their family home - to which they added 3 beautiful children who surely make it come alive!

I can’t wait to hear how Couple Vision Boarding went for you both after all these years of creating goodness into your life…

Kiora you two…

This week's couple Emma & Pete took on Chapter 8 called "Vows Brought to Life"

Find out how they went!

Intro:

This game is near and dear to my heart. I will never forget sitting down to compose my vows 15yrs ago and feeling the enormity of that promise and commitment. Bc we weren’t using pre-designed vows, I found the whole experience even more confronting and real.

In most countries, your solemn promise is even considered law. It is that honored and respected in many cultures.

This “Vows Brought to Life!” game offers that refreshing opportunity to go back, revisit and infuse who you are as a couple in the here and now – adding a whole new power to your testament.

Laughter and joy often spring out as memories of that special day bubble to the surface…

In our game debrief tonight, we are getting into it with Aussie couple Emma & Pete, who uttered their vows more than 17 years ago in Mackay, Qld. Now, they are a family of 4 working diligently in their community as humble servants of goodness to all those around them.

Come along for the ride as this week's couple Sarah & Sange not only take on their newborn but were bold enough to experiment with Chapter 11: "Couple ZZZs".

Find out how they went!

Intro:
"Get comfortable for our dooooozy conversation today with the book chapter that promises to put you to sleep: COUPLE ZZZs!!

Did you know that your “alert” energy before sleep can actually rouse your previously sleepy mate?? When you’ve been in a relationship for a long time, you begin to see how your sleep patterns can begin to be influenced by your partner.

Imagine doing a small ‘breathing chant’ that harmonised you and your mate in such a way that your brainwave frequencies come together and for THAT moment in time, it’s a direct match… This form of “one-ness” of sound actually lulls the brain to sleep. How amazing is that?!?

Our couple today are actually new Mums and so I am ever so curious how they went with this activity considering they have natural sleep disruption with their new little bubba under a year old!

Ladies, thank you for spending some time with us playing the game and debriefing about it – we all remember the rigours of raising a young one whilst also working – and yet, you made time for this…I know why you are such a supercouple!!"

We are excited to give you a glimpse of real Super Couples taking part in my new book "PressPlay" (available for purchase February 2023).

This week's couple Christine and Jay hail from the East Coast of the United States but have been living in Australia for some years now: they took on Chapter 6 called "Date Free"

Find out how they went!

Intro:

The dynamic couple I get to chat to today played one of the more advanced games I’ve created: New Couple Script.

I don’t want to scare anyone off with that caveat bc being the script writer of your life can be one of the most joyful things you do. I believe, you are creating your life whether you consciously know it or not, so, why not sit in the Director’s chair and deliberately creating? The joy of knowing you scripted that into reality can be more powerful than you know.

Based on some of the work of Neville Goddard in the book ‘The Power of Awareness’, he states that, “Your mind is always arranged in the image of all you believe and consent to as true.”

In light of that, I wanted to create a space for deliberately journaling those images that YOU (the player) get to arrange as true. Giving yourself space and time to actually do the work is often the only missing piece to a life well lived!

Before I introduce our loving couple, there is one more inspiration for this game that gave me such goosebumps in my 20s, that I knew I had to create an exercise that us in the Western World could grow from:

“Introducing the woman known for “burying her dreams”: Tererai Trent of Zimbabwe. This awe-inspiring woman developed a list of goals for herself as a young girl living in a rural African village. Her list was buried in a piece of tin behind her home in a field where she herded cattle. Unable to go to school as a child because of being born female, she secretly did her brother’s homework until her father found out and married her off at age 11. Having 3 children by age 18 with an abusive husband, she quickly divorced him the moment the family landed in America. Over the next 20 years, she accomplished each and every goal in her tin can: earning a bachelor's and master's degrees from WMU and completing her journey from ‘life as an impoverished African child bride to a career as an international scholar who holds a Ph.D’. Each time she returs to Zimbabwe, she digs up the list, crosses off the achieved goal and moves on to the next one.”

How awe-inspiring is that?

Ok, so back to the here and now and this ideal partnering for this game, supercouple, Allan & Lari. Their 16 years of development on themselves makes them great for this game.

Having lived in many places (Japan being one of them) during their 24 years together - they are about to bound out of the GC of Australia with their 2 daughters for their next big adventure in Sydney. So, I thought “No better time than NOW” to deliberately create into their next 5 years…

This week's couple Christine and Jay hail from the East Coast of the United States but have been living in Australia for some years now: they took on Chapter 6 called "Date Free"

Find out how they went!

Intro:
Tonight’s debrief is over one of the most simple GAMES I’ve created called DATE FREE. I have come to learn that simple…doesn’t always mean easy. Especially in our fast-paced society, choosing a date adventure that involves lots of SPACE isn’t what we are most familiar with.

Professor of social psychology at the State University of New York highlights what most of us inherently know, that “The goal is to find ways to keep injecting novelty into {our} relationship.”

Long-time couple Christine and Jay took that task on. As a busy family of four: Jay constantly traveling away as an ER doc and Christine heading up the family - creativity and novelty aren’t something that just happens…

So, amidst a frantic life schedule, they went for it. They created DATE FREE!

Today, we continue the conversation with the first and only female CEO in Australia’s steel distribution industry. Cecily McGuckin initially built her career in retail development construction, never really seeing the family business that her Dad had run for over 25 years as an option. Working for Suncorp and Mirvac before having her three kids, she eventually joined her father a decade ago at Queensland Sheet and Steel.

She has scaled her fathers “hand shake deal business” into a formidable player in the industry: recently winning the National CEO of the Year Award for 2020. Believing that people are a company’s greatest asset, she continues to use gut instinct and emotional intelligence to move her business and the industry into 2021 and beyond.

Thanks Cecily for taking time to share your leadership experience with our audience.

The Goods on Cecily:

Cecily McGuckin, the first and only female CEO in Australia’s steel distribution industry, she is passionate about driving change in her industry and her family owned business, Queensland Sheet and Steel (QSS) as it enters 34 years in business. Cecily began her career in finance but quickly stumbled upon an area she enjoyed so much more. Construction development management. Roles at leading companies including Suncorp and Mirvac, followed where she gained a wealth of experience in the day-to-day running of big business and the delivery of large scale projects.

It’s these experiences that helped shape the leader Cecily is today – a problem solver and out of the box thinker. Cecily is also resilient. As a woman in a man’s world she has needed to prove herself time and time again. Not just to her peers and her staff, but her father who started the business from nothing. Cecily credits her emotional intelligence and gut instincts as the key drivers behind her success as a CEO. Not to mention her willingness to take a breath and calmly find the right moment to create conversations that generate results.

Today, we continue the conversation with Managing Director of the most-visited, privately-owned attraction in Australia: Scenic World. Anthea Hammon is 3rd generation Hammon family to take control of the World-Heritage-Listed Blue Mountains attraction, which has seen her navigate some tumultuous terrain these past 2yrs with devastating bush fires for months – only to be followed up with a pandemic that has crippled the entire “attractions” industry.

With a strong focus on family succession planning, she was well supported to navigate unfamiliar terrain. She has been determined to maintain the culture and iconic scenic attraction that began in 1945 when her grandfather Harry Hammon converted the abandoned Coal Mine into the Scenic Railway.

With an engineering background, she has taken her fascination for how machinery works and sculpted a working environment that includes her 2 & 6 yr old in tow - the family culture is truly felt the moment you are on site.

In spectacular fashion, Nat & I met Anthea in her natural habitat…her youngest child Hamilton in a pram being cuddled by one staff member to another, Anthea, overseeing the room that she’d organized for her community to be inspired by a heroes journey (my Nat!!) and of course her daughter Hazel running back and forth reminding us all who was really in charge! The values in her business place and living and breathing!

I am looking forward to speaking to a leader that has forged a new model – not so much deliberately but moreso organically – constantly bringing family values into the forefront and demonstrating how powerful it really can be to operate from this platform!

The Goods on Anthea:

Graduating from university with an engineering degree it seemed that Anthea’s career would be one of finding solutions to problems or maximising opportunities.

As the 3rd generation member of the Hammon family to take control of Scenic World , the last two years have tested all of her problem solving skills and then some.

Anthea is the Managing Director of what is the most visited, privately owned attraction in Australia, attracting over one million visitors annually. Set within the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, the company is a third generation family business. Established in 1945 (for the past 76yrs) when Harry Hammon converted the abandoned Katoomba Colliery into the Scenic Railway, it continues to be owned and operated by the same family.

Anthea shares the challenges that have been presented to her on a business level since the outbreak of Covid, the joy that she gets from creating meaningful shared experiences for families and amongst all of the work in finding a way to keep a tourist business going through months of lockdown.. her family home burnt to the ground…I trust you will enjoy this conversation with a remarkably resilient woman.

Today, we continue the conversation with a man who is full of SHIT! Don’t get mad at me Mom for swearing, Mark Balla is actually the “Toilet Warrior” and has been advocating and changing the story about sanitation worldwide.

In 2013, he founded the not-for-profit “We can’t wait”. He then joined forces with Rotary and began using his business connections to Mumbai to change the reality for girls in that region and then the country as a whole.

Did you know that of the 1.4M schools in India, 400,000 of them do NOT have toilets? And the schools that do have toilets, do not have separate ones for girls.

So, why does this matter so much?

25% of girls in India drop out and skip school when they reach puberty. When their menstruation begins, its just too much to go to school and be humiliated.

Many of these girls homes also do NOT have toilets so after holding their bodily functions in all day, their desperate attempts to go to the bathroom results in 50% of sexual assaults occurring while these innocent girls are seeking a quiet place to do so.

If you want to dive deeper into this reality that’s happening right now before our eyes, read Mark’s book the Toilet Warrior or google his TedX talk to be enthralled.

As sanitation goals worldwide continued to not be met; this linguist and global supply-chain expert from Melbourne took it on. Thanks to Mark, he is proving the truth of his own TedX quote, that “Children are the most spectacular agents for LASTING change”!

The Goods on Mark:

  • Accomplished public speaker on humanitarian issues both in Australia and internationally, ready to change your perception of the world we live in
  • Founder of a charity with an international focus on improving life opportunity for girls and women in developing countries
  • A deep passion for opportunities in corporate social responsibility
  • Board level experience in both for profit and not for profit environments in both Australia, India and Globally

Today, we continue the conversation with a retired army Major turned leadership strategist and keynote speaker. Matina Jewell joined the army at only age 17 where she earned nine military service & war medals before medically retiring in the crossfire of the Lebanon War – where she was actually stationed nearby on a peacekeeping mission for the UN.

Her stories will astound you but mostly bc she actually lived to tell the tales. From fast-ropping out of helicopters to making deals with warlords in the Solomon Islands to breaking her back in 5 places and still continuing to lead a convoy to safety and then somehow flying home on a stretcher with her eyes only inches from the overhead lockers on a plane for over 26hrs…this woman continues to thrive and serve through all that!

After her enforced retirement from military service, she began to piece together the aspects of her journey that could help others – finding herself on the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council as well as facilitating Corporate Teams to build their resilience. As the bestselling author of “Caught in the CrossFire”, she is a sought after keynote speaker.

Named as a Telstra Business Award Finalst, a CPA “Top 10 Australian Smart Thinker” and on the AFR 100 Women of Influence for 2018, you can see that she creates waves wherever she roams…

You ready to fast-rope down into this Matina and share some of your stories??

Today, we continue the conversation with a man who was awarded the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Engineering. Professor James Trevelyan from Perth is well known for his pioneering research on Sheep Shearing Robots from 1975-1993 at the U of Western Australia – where he was awarded many international engineering and robotic awards.

He then moved into the research of Landmine Clearing Methods where he made a big impact in countries like Afghanistan, Cambodia, the Balkans, and many Africa countries.

He then took on local schools in Islamabad, where together with his father-in-law, they architected toilet access for young kids.

And now, as Western Australian of the Year, at the ripe age of 65, he founded “Close Comfort”, where he and his students engineered a personal air conditioning unit which has been made affordable for countries such as Pakistan - which aligns w his belief that safe respite from dangerous heat conditions should be a basic human right.

In 2013, his TedTalk titled “Ending Poverty: what engineers can do”, was a real reflection of his commitment to contributing engineering services on behalf of the rights that all humans possess.

The Goods on James:

Prof. James has always been passionate about creating a positive impact on other people’s lives. He has led quite a journey from being a researcher, an academician, an educator, a world-recognised engineer, an author and so on. At 65 years old, he believed his contribution to solving some of humanity's greatest challenges wasn't over; he started Close Comfort to provide safe access to affordable cooling solutions to billions of people at risk of exposure to increasingly dangerous heat conditions without warming the planet!

On the way, he was awarded the prestigious Engineers Australia medal and was recognised as 2018 Western Australian of the Year in the Professions category.

Close Comfort is just another example of James's belief that his role as an engineer and as a human is to give back to communities.

· In the past, he has developed sheep shearing robots that would cover the eyes and shield sheep from the shears cutting the wool while helping them fall asleep. The innovation was awarded the engineers equivalent of the Nobel prize and put him in a position "to devote the rest of my career to researching problems that truly mattered, that would help solve some of the tough challenges facing humanity".

· Instead of retiring after reaching the top of his engineer career, he turned his expertise and knowledge to clearing landmines from countries like Afghanistan, Cambodia, the Balkans in southeast Europe, and many countries in Africa.

· Or in term of being literally safe from harmful heat conditions: in Pakistan and most parts of the globe, air conditioning is costly, and for the few that can afford this luxury, the energy-hungry appliances prove too much for the energy grid to handle, leading to power outages. So, Pr James launched Close Comfort at 65 y.o, believing that safe respite from dangerous heat conditions, far from a luxury, should be a basic human right.

Today, we continue the conversation with the creator of MamaRising – which serves to teach and train the ground-breaking work on Matrescence. What the heck does that word even mean?? I was instantly drawn to the word bc matriarch shone from it but beyond that, I needed to discover former Australian ABC journalist Amy Taylor-Kabbaz to really sink my teeth into its impact.

Amy had 3 kids and a lifelong dream of working for the ABC – but she drove herself to that breaking point trying to prove she could “do it all”. Burn out, she began seeking what had changed within her since she had become a Mother. In 2018, her quest landed her in the office of Dr Aurelie Athan at Columbia University in NY…the answer she’d been gnawing at all those years was Matrescence. Putting her anthropologist hat on, she wrote Mama Rise and began the movement of Mothers beginning to rise to their own occasion.

With a background in journalism, an honours degree in International studies & Development, as an accredited Life Coach, post-natal yoga teacher and meditation facilitator – her rounded approach has attracted Mothers across the globe to not only learn more but get accredited and begin spreading this message of hope to the billions of Mamas on Mother Earth!

The Goods on Amy:

As a producer with more than 15 years experience at the ABC, I bring the research and dedication of a journalist to the passion of an anthropologist and coach. Since 2013, I have trained as an Internationally Accredited Life Coach, Post-Natal Yoga teacher, and Meditation facilitator. With an Honours Degree in International Studies and a Graduate Certificate in International Development focusing on empowering women in the developing world, I have always been focused on women: why the world views us in a particular way, and what we can do about it.

In 2015, having brought myself to the edge of overwhelm and burn out trying to prove I could “do it all”, I stepped away from my lifelong dream of working for the ABC to dedicate myself completely to the understanding of motherhood. I knew that what I had been through - the inner split and the burn out - was something too many of us were experiencing.

And I wanted to know why.

The search took many years, and many paths, until I found myself in the office of Dr Aurelie Athan at Columbia University in New York in late 2018

AND I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT I’D BEEN SEEKING ALL THIS TIME:

Matrescence.

Since then, working closely with Dr Athan, I have dedicated myself to bringing this understanding to the world.

Today, we continue the conversation with a warrior. Guylaine Dumont is considered the best volleyball player in Canadian history and yet, that doesn’t even begin to tell the tale...

Growing up in a small town in the Province of Quebec, her early years were filled with a father who beat her mother, and 3 sisters trying to rally together to survive it all. At only age 13, Guylaine was moved out of home to begin playing sport full-time. This was right around the time that her closest sister Nathalie went missing…

As the youngest player ever on the Canadian national team right into adoring fans during her pro career in Italy; the darkness of her upbringing shadowed most of her career. Consistent humiliation and abuse from coaches seemed all too familiar for her. But when the news that her sister had been found dead, reached her in Italy; you wonder how she ever rose to the heights in sport that she did.

Longing for an Olympic dream - twice she would shut the door on it – bc the price you needed to pay seemed too high. It took a player 10yrs her Junior to sweep her up out of retirement and reach the Athens Olympics to score the best ever result in Canadian female beach volleyball history!

Now married with 2 daughters, Guylaine has devoted her life to helping athletes be supported through their own traumas in sport. As co-founder of “Sport-Aide” (loosely translated as “Sport Help”), she rallied more than $2M from the Quebec government to bolster her program and passionately charged up a “help line” for athletes. Finally, being able to provide the lifeline she never felt she could call!

As her own healing journey continues with its natural highs and lows, I am honoured to be speaking to a woman that has come through the ashes of her own abuse to be able to create not only change for future athletes but more importantly, a space for healing…

The Goods on Guylaine:

Guylaine Dumont (born October 9, 1967 in St-Etienne-de-Lauzon, Quebec) is a Canadian female beach volleyball player. She lives in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly.

Together with partner Annie Martin, Guylaine Dumont recorded the best ever Olympic result for Canadian women in beach volleyball with a fifth-place finish at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, losing to the Americans Misty May and Kerry Walsh in the quarter-final.

Regarded as one of the top Canadian women’s volleyball players of all-time, Dumont began her career as a member of the Canadian national team in 1985 at just 17 years of age.

In 2002, Dumont returned to the sport full-time and began competing alongside Martin in the beach volleyball discipline. She retired from competitive volleyball for a second time following the 2004 Olympic Games.

Dumont is married to 1988 Canadian long track speed skating Olympian, Gregor Jelonek and now, he is the coach of the Canadian long track speed skating team. He was in Torino, Vancouver and Sotchi as a coach in 2006–2010 and 2014.

Dumont is currently a helping relationship therapist specialized in sport and a motivational speaker.

Today, we continue the conversation with the creator of TO DAY List: the product aimed at simplifying not only your day, but your life! I say “Yes pls!” to that.

Natalie Jane Cartwright had been in Corporate Strategy and Human Centered Design for over a decade and couldn’t let an idea that had been brewing for years go by the wayside… She saw a gap in the market where more and more technology was being created by the day to “simplify” our lives - and yet, people seemed more frazzled and flustered than ever before. So, she went to work, on designing a way to help people focus their energy and attention (amidst the constant barrage of tech whizzling all around them) and achieve balance and a sense of control in their lives.

As a Mum and founder of two companies, she knew all too well that she too was in need of her own product!

She has created a Tribe of like-minded people which has allowed the TO DAY List to be more than a product but a way of life.

I can’t wait to get into some of the philosophy behind what Nat has created. When the two of us first got chatting, we could have gone on for hours around FOCUS and our shared passion to help the world feel more productive by developing those healthy rituals and routines that leave them empowered and satisfied, rather than overwhelmed and like once again “they haven’t done enough”!

The Goods on Nat:

Natalie is a proud mum, Founder of two companies and self-proclaimed disruptor in the field of coaching.

Today is a unique conversation with the icon, the magical, the infamous…Santa Claus! Creating magic for children for the past 34yrs as a “professional Santa”, he has been employed by the iconic Myer Brand in Australia for 30yrs to tote his white beard and nurturing spirit upon all children who grace his lap!

But who is the man underneath the suit?

Rod Hyatt, at age 74, has been a passionate philanthropist for more than 10 years after he finished teaching English and become the Chairman of Habit for Humanity. He is committed to addressing the plight of people who do not sleep securely at night.

He has gone on to continue his work in a more focussed way under the banner of Hope ReBuilders and I cannot wait to hear more about the ongoing work he is doing…especially during this past Covid year.

The Goods on Santa Rod:

Professional Santa for 34 years and with the Myer Centre for 30 years, with a small stint in Japan in 1998 when I was on TV and played Santa in the Japanese production of Enid Blyton's " Naughtiest School Girl"

Now, back to the man underneath the cloth…

I have a wealth of experience & knowledge across many of fields, after 74 trips around the sun. 12 years ago it was time to give back and get involved in addressing the plight of people who do not sleep securely at night. Habitat For Humanity had been a favourite NFP Organisation since the Northridge Earthquake in Los Angeles 17 January 1994. Retirement from the Education sector allowed time to become more supportive where I became involved in starting up the Brisbane Chapter, served as Chairman of the Queensland affiliate and then stepped into a management role after the 2011 South East Queensland floods.

May 2013 - Having spent 2 years as Development Manager for Habitat For Humanity Brisbane, I spread my wings and moved into a role where I can be of service to a wider community of people needing safe secure housing. My passion has not changed. In fact it has deepened to a point where I believe the current Habitat model is not effective in fully addressing the problem. We need to get back to a more "grassroots" approach in line with Millard Fuller's original dream of partnership housing - a place where people are more important than personalities - a place where God's work is not corporatised - a place where we can be more flexible and nimble in helping the vulnerable members of our community.

September 2013 - Chief Operating Officer of Fuller Center for Housing, Queensland, Australia, following the lead of Millard Fuller, the founder of both Habitat for Humanity and Fuller Center for Housing, in getting back to a more grassroots approach to tackling the problem of substandard housing.

April 2018 - I am continuing on the work started all those years ago by Millard Fuller. We are still addressing the needs of those who are less fortunate and who have been socially marginalised. Having recently undergone a name change to Hope ReBuilders we are relaunching with a new vision and vigour for better addressing the situation in Australia nad South East Asia.

Today, we continue the conversation with the CEO and Founder of AI company Catlepoint Systems, who’s vision it is to change the way the world manages information so that people, communities and companies are safer and smarter. Rachael Greaves is an industry expert in information and records compliance, control and security. She recognized a problem that was not being addressed in the marketplace around the enormous influx of data that companies, organizations and governments were facing – it just seemed too big and too overwhelming so their information remained exposed and at risk because there was no viable solution for them.

In comes the brave Rachael in her 30s (who has 5 kids btw) and husband Gavin to solve one of the biggest issues facing business worldwide. They may have lacked much of the expertise to pull this off – but they did it anyway!

I am so grateful that we get some moments with Rachael as you can imagine that a Mother of 5 kids building this billion dollar engine doesn’t have extra moments on her hands?!?

Today, we continue the conversation with an Iranian writer/filmmaker who traveled to Afghanistan in 2006 to uncover why women at alarming rates were self-burning as a form of suicide!

Sanaz Fotouhi obtained her Masters at the University of HK and later her PhD at the University of NSW in Australia. Exploring the meaning and identity of the mass dispersion of Iranians since the Islamic Revolution, she brings her own life experience to the books she writes and the movies she makes.

As one of the founding members of the Persian Film Festival in Australia, you might assume that she creates documentaries and writes books and everyone laps them up. Her story is much more real than that. This conversation is about the resilience and journey of a woman who believes that a book needs to be read so much that she persisted with publishers for 14 years!!

It is with celebration of that determination to “stay in the game” that we speak on the precipice of her launch of Love Marriage in Kabul…14 years in the making J

The Goods on Sanaz:

Sanaz Fotouhi was born in Iran soon after the revolution, during the Iran-Iraq war. Her father’s job as a banker took her and her family to many countries.

Sanaz holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Hong Kong. The thesis of her PhD at the University of New South Wales was published as The Literature of the Iranian Diaspora: Meaning and Identity since the Islamic Revolution (I.B. Tauris, 2015).

As a creative writer, Sanaz has been published in anthologies and journals across Australia and Asia. She is also the co-producer of two documentary films – Hidden Generation, a short documentary examining the reasons for the increase of women’s self-burning as a form of suicide in Afghanistan, and Love Marriage in Kabul, a multi-award feature documentary following a young couple as they try to get married against all odds.

All the way from Arizona…Susan…you ready for this

Today, we continue the conversation with a “launch coach”. “What is that?” you might ask?? Stick with me…we will get there…

Taliah-Kate Byron is only 30 years old and I say that bc she dove into the multi-billion $$ self-development and coaching industry when she was only 17. Getting stellar grades in Grammar school growing up…she chose a path less traveled than the oft worn path of University - she ”designed” her own education. Whether it was a degree in NLP, experiential game design, Vipassana meditation, speech and drama or micro business design…she kept growing herself.

I met TK when a chapter of my life as a pro athlete was coming to a close and I was upskilling with NLP. I was older than she is now and she was only in her teens! I was struck by that. Her level of engagement and participation was inspiring and I was drawn to the spark that she had brimming in her.

We have traveled many a PD road together (me always being 15 or so years older than her) and here we are again, but this time, she’s my COACH. She is helping me craft my offer and “launch” my new signature coaching program for women just like me called The Awakened Mama.

I have learned so much from this clever wiper snapper…but her coaching goes so much deeper than what her smart brain can produce.

She “tunes in” when she needs to nail a brief, she has “mental clearing processes” before she does an ‘impact post’, she can write copy that just lands with people, and she creates marketing templates that make it easy for someone like me to step my words into – it just comes to life!

Clearly, I’m a fan! And I know after you hear more about her, you will be too!

The Goods on TK:

With over a decade in the personal development industry, my love for this work started at 17 and quickly became a passionate side-hustle. I started keynote speaking and volunteering at youth leadership camps across Australia. When those camps struggled to get ongoing funding, it became my mission to learn everything about marketing so that coaches who were making a difference in people's lives could keep their doors open by having money in their back pocket.

Today, we continue the conversation with Amazon gurus Jamie Paros & Michael Fenech. These boys have come together to form the much-acclaimed and engaged Network Group End Game: focusing on supporting the Amazon Selling community.

With Jamie posting a record year of close to 7-figures in 2019 selling on Amazon and Michael having over 700 SKU's being sold in the US via Facebook and Google shopping – their brands are respected and looked up to.

It hasn’t always been lucrative and easy for these boys – Jamie working 14hr days driving a truck and Michael trying his hand at many a StartUp in the tech space before hitting the “success button”.

But they have discovered this world of “Micro-Brands” and if I’m honest…I don’t even have a clue about - it’s a whole new language that I am looking forward to learning more about.

As the economy proves to challenge over these next 2-5 years - more and more people are searching for different ways to create side-income. I am committed to providing alternate ways for people to earn additional money that loosens the squeeze they are under. And I do lean toward those methods that sit outside the conventional 9-5 “trading time for money” space.

Shall we dive in boys??

The Goods on Jamie:From a young age, it was clear that Jamie had that entrepreneurial spirit built into his DNA. He started a transport business at age 22 and soon realised that he could not sustain such long hours swapping time for money. Too much of his time was spent away from his family.

Jamie's hunger and motivation for change led him to discover the Amazon FBA business model. He intuitively knew that Amazon would help him leave the daily trucking grind behind. Jamie's incredible work ethic and "Get Shit Done" war cry led him to become one of the real rock stars in the Amazon world, turning over $1,000,000 in sales in the USA. Now, Jamie is giving back to the Amazon community and also reinventing supply chain processes through various software ventures.

The Goods on Michael:Michael Fenech Michael has gained extensive business experience in both tech and e-commerce across the globe. He has successfully raised capital in the US and Australia, run successful e-commerce sites, and has partnered with some of the biggest companies in the world. Michael is also fortunate to have been mentored by some of the biggest names in tech.

His e-commerce experience has come from having over 700 SKU's being sold in the US via Facebook and Google shopping. Michael then ventured into Amazon and by using his incredible product research skills, found a product that was an instant winner. Michael now has a range of products being launched under his well-respected brand.

Today, we continue the conversation with an educator turned social entrepreneur dedicated to championing for “our kids”. As the most recent QLD Australian of the Year, Rachel Downie is taking the tragedy of losing a Year 9 student years ago to suicide and harnessing it, into a reporting tool called Stymie – that she developed and self-funded to support young people to anonymously report harm to their peers and to themselves.

In 2019, Stymie schools reported more than 48,000 notifications from concerned students. More than 600 000 students nationally have been exposed to this culture-changing tool; as family violence, bullying, cyber-bullying, depression, illegal activity, harassment and self-harm are all being reported by young people. Through Rachel’s tireless efforts towards a better culture of care in our schools, we are beginning to get a more clear picture of what young people are really facing out there.

Say

Some

Thing.

What a brilliant tag line that's gaining incredible traction!!!

When she isn’t “inventing stuff”, you can find Rachel living on the Gold Coast of Australia with her beautiful wife, surfing and painting when she gets a spare moment.

The Goods on Rachel:

25 years ago, Rachel Downie became an educator because she wanted to help our young people flourish. After losing a Year 9 student to suicide, Rachel decided that she needed to find a way to support our young people to say something when things ‘aren’t right’. She discovered that in emergent situations, students often felt too frightened to come forward with possible life-saving information, due to peer expectations. This led Rachel to developing and self-funding Stymie – a tool that allows students to anonymously report any form of harm without fear.

Rachel developed Stymie (an old-fashioned word meaning ‘stop’) with extensive consultation and help from students and educators; since 2014 Rachel has presented Stymie to more than 600 000 students nationally and students have used it to save and change lives.

Implemented both nationally and internationally, students are using Stymie to report family violence, bullying, cyber-bullying, depression, illegal activity, harassment, self-harm, and harm to their communities. In 2019, Stymie schools received more than 48 000 notifications from concerned students, empowering them to use their empathy and conscience to report harm, and further the culture of care in their schools.

Today, we continue the conversation with one of Australia’s leading speaking professionals. Lisa Evans is a Business StoryTelling Consultant and CEO of Speaking Savvy and Soft Skills Academy.

This wasn’t always her career however, as she was one of those women who found her dream-career very young as a nurse and midwife. From her home in London, she saw an ad in the paper for a quick 12-wk stint in Australia and somehow, someway, she is still here 20yrs later: married with children! But a devastating illness was not part of her dream path (or was it) which forced her to leave her life-long dream work.

Lisa began to build herself into a whole new version of of who she’d once been – testament to that transformation: she is now a TedX speaker coach, author of 4 books, supremely trained in many genres of speaking and behavioural programming.

These days, her focus is ultimately helping business leaders deliver captivating stories that are hard to forget.

But in these latter years of her life, giving back is what pulls her forward: hosting a morning radio show in Perth and then there’s her sell-out storytelling charity event “Stories from the Heart” – featured as one of the top attractions at the Perth Fringe Festival

Shall we step into this Lisa and start sharing??

The Goods on Lisa:

Lisa Evans is Perth’s leading Speaking and Business Storytelling Consultant and the CEO of Speaking Savvy and Soft Skills Academy.

Lisa is the author of four books, a Certified Speaking and Storytelling Coach, a TEDx Speaker Coach, an accredited business coach - International Coaching Federation, Certified Genos Emotional Intelligence Practitioner, Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, Sketchnote Artist and Graphic Facilitator.

She is one of fewer than 150 people in Australia to hold the designation of Certified Speaking Professional, and a Certified Virtual Presenter by E-Speakers USA.

In her spare time, Lisa volunteers as an improvisation actor for Perth Playback Theatre, is a Board Director for Professional Speakers Australia and hosts a weekly morning radio show In Good Company on 89.7 FM.

Lisa helps leaders to mine, refine and deliver captivating ‘sticky’ stories for their business and brand. Whether it is the boardroom, ballroom, platform or podium, she helps them craft compelling stories that are hard to forget.

As a way of giving back to the community, Lisa hosts a storytelling charity event Stories From The Heart. For over four years the show has consistently sold out including performances at Perth Fringe Festival with a five-star rating.

Before her transformation, Lisa worked for 20 years as a midwife. A devastating illness meant leaving her career and finding a new calling; to bring stories into the world. She is known by many as The Story Midwife.

Today, we continue the conversation with a woman who is adaptable, focused and has a growth mindset. In these distinct times in our history, I don’t know that there is anything more valuable. Nicole Jordan has held executive positions for companies like David Jones, Warner Bros. and Sportsgirl and founded 6 of her own bootstrapped businesses. She sits on 4 boards, worked w VCs, SME’s, and accelerator companies to create growth strategies and yet its her story of adopting her Korean Son when he was only 4wks old, as a single mother, that has me intrigued about what drives her.

She has worked for herself in business, she has been the managing executive for big names in business (which means she did the work behind the scenes that was heralded by someone else), she does the grunt work to win grants for organizations and she’s found herself in a whole new realm of reinvention during Covid-19. I cannot wait to uncover what a woman like this is thinking at a time like now…

The Goods on Nic:

Nicole possess a winning blend of leadership, management, client service, creative and marketing acumen. With a 20 year background in commercialisation, partnerships, marketing and business strategy, Nicole is a trusted and valued resource to founders and CEO’s across multiple verticals.

Then founded 6 of her own (bootstrapped) businesses before exiting to return to the corporate sector. Since 2013 Nicole has worked with SME’s, VC’s and accelerator companies creating growth strategies and managing executive relationships.

Nicole is a Board Member for

· ● The Aussie Founders Network,

· ● Startup Advisory Board Member for BDO,

· ● Advisory Board World’s Biggest Garage Sale

· ● member of QLD Olympic Committee board Athlete Transition Program.

Most recently, Nicole has developed a much needed program for youth focused on healthy lifestyle encompassing wellbeing, healthy living and eating with Olympian Natalie Cook called Active Youth.

“Staying curious drives me to strive for more, forever embracing forward thinking and inspired ways to work and live. I am passionate about our world, I want to be part of the solution for a sustainable future. There is no planet B!”

Today, we continue the conversation with an Australian Poet of international renown. Rupert McCall grew up loving a jigsaw of words as much as he did a game of rugby league – it was like a creative collision was taking place within him – but somehow, he chose to study Law at University.

His creativity kept rearing its head amidst articling as a law clerk and he managed to pen his first anthology ‘Rhymes, Idols and Shenanigans’ in 1993. When his writing kept getting published, read out on radio, or featured at notable functions, he followed the snowball rolling down the hill and took a road less travelled to became the full-time poet he is today.

As the author to 6 anthologies that have sold 120,000 copies, he’s been featured on TV and radio and even a stint as a sport commentator; Rupert has crafted his own unique and sought-after style of storytelling!

Considered the poet of our generation in many Australian circles; he presented the opening to the Prelude to Dawn Service in Gallipoli, he recited his poem ‘Firefighters Dream’ at Ground Zero to the NYC Fire Dept for the 10th anniversary of 9/11 as well as paid tribute to many sporting heroes like Roger Federer & Greg Norman. In 2013, he was awarded the OAM (Order of Australia Medal) by the Queen for his services to the community, particularly as a poet!

Today, we continue the conversation with the first indigenous female to represent Australia in volleyball at the Olympic Games. Taliqua Clancy was raised in Kingaroy, Qld (which is over 200kms from any beach) and yet was recruited at age 15 and traveled away from her family to train full time as a beach volleyball player and pursue her dreams.

This is when she met Nat and myself during her training and forged a mentoring relationship with Nat that continues to this day. Look how far you’ve come T in those 12 years!!

Her dream to be an Olympic Gold Medallist and World Champion have been put on hold while the Tokyo 2020 Games have been delayed due to Covid’s worldwide impact. It really is hard to fathom what it would be like to have your DREAMS stunted like that but a silver lining just might be… Taliqua’s chance - to increase the impact SHE can make on behalf of HER people. During this extra time, perhaps more people can learn to understand and respect what it is to be a part of the oldest civilization on earth: Aboriginal Australians!

You ready to open this up T?

The Wiki-Goods on Taliqua:

Taliqua Clancy (born 25 June 1992) is an Australian volleyball and beach volleyball player who represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in beach volleyball, partnered with Louise Bawden.[1][2] She is the first indigenous Australian volleyball player to represent Australia at the Olympics.[1] She has the aboriginal flag tattooed on her left wrist and painted the flag on her fingernails for the Olympic matches.[3]

Clancy plays as a left-side blocker.

Today, we continue the conversation with the General Manager of Isagenix ANZ. Steve Foxwell slid into his position in the company in his usual humble way but his leadership has seen the company bolster results in the last 6 months that are simply astounding.

His belief in his team and allowing them to find their voice, be self-reliant and self-responsible is proving very effective.

And yet, it is the deeper balance cascading through Steve that really intrigues me. His love of the ocean called him to Australia from his home in Wales, where he was adopted at an early age from Brazil. His warrior spirit laps constantly in his fight for what’s right in people and for the survival of the planet; I think you’ll also get the sense that this handsome lad has a depth as deep as the ocean!

Thanks for taking a moment out of the hustle and bustle of the office to chat to our community of dreamers!

The Goods on Steve:

Wellbeing is: Simple, to me, it means loving yourself enough to take care of yourself.

A life of wellbeing to me: Is all about the great connections you make, not just with yourself but to all the things in life that bring you joy and happiness.

Sharing his industry knowledge and Professional Experience:

Steve has over 15 years of experience in the direct selling profession. As General Manager for Isagenix Australia & New Zealand, he oversees the overall sales and marketing strategies, field development, communications and product manufacturing.

He has a real passion for driving the company forward, introducing new flagship wellness products with some of the latest science and technologies from around the world that assist in unlocking the human potential, and at the same time aggressively working towards our sustainability goal.

“I have an amazing team around me. I try to encourage a spirit of adventure for my staff, but also to allow them to find creative ways to enhance the company and their careers.

I aim to guide them towards the future vision of Isagenix so that they recognise the importance of being self-responsible and self-reliable. I don’t want them to be dependent on me.

I feel like the best gift I could give them is the freedom to grow and learn.”

Before he moved into his role at Isagenix, he spent a further seven years prior as the Director of Sales for a previous global direct sales organisation, sharing in the remarkable growth and success of that company.

At a young age, Steve was adopted into a beautiful, loving Welsh family before deciding to call Australia home.

“Growing up on the land taught me the subtle ways of connecting and respecting nature.”

Finding Balance

As rewarding and demanding as his role is, Steve knows that life balance is crucial to serving at the level he does continually.

“So, for me, the best way to recharge my energy bank is to spend as much time as possible in the ocean.

It’s my best friend, and nothing invigorates my soul more than connecting to the raw power and energy of the ocean.

It is my warrior spirit and my protecting guardian. It continually gifts me moments that nourish my soul.”

Today, we continue the conversation with the owner of The Business League - a national community for small and medium sized business owners to drive their company forward. Rebecca Plant has grounded the notion of The Power of the Female through a resilience born out of being raised by a single Mum, then a high level Netball player and finally her background in Communications Journalism.

But perhaps it was her nervous breakdown in her 20s where her need to

Intensified to Push – Push – Push until… she Broke! The deep dive into personal development and emotional healing had her arise as a new entrepreneur focused on women in the workplace.

Her and her husband Ed have been working alongside one another for the past 10 years forming ‘The Institute for Couples in Business’ and co-authoring their #1 bestselling book “Lead-the-Ship” back in 2016.

Marion Bond was born in France and adopted by a white Mom and a Cameroonian Father. Moving to Cameroon at age 3, she was the only Black girl in her French school and was made aware of her “difference” for the first time by the other kids at that school.

At 18, she moved to London to improve her English, and ended up in Houston TX for an internship before landing in Lausanne (CH) where she would work 10yrs in Marketing Communications. She would do a 1yr sabbatical in Australia – obtaining her yoga teacher training - and open a small yoga studio in Switzerland.

With 2 daughter under the age of 3, the family now travels between Mauritius and Berlin - Berlin being where her German husband works his dream of winning a Nobel Prize – and Marion’s obsessing w all things kitesurfing and warm beach weather!

Today, we continue the conversation with a legendary couple! I don’t use that title lightly as the Stockwells have won more Olympic Medals between them and have been in service to their community in such abundant ways over these past 30 years, it truly is legendary.

Tracey is considered one of the greatest female swimmers in history winning 3 gold medals for the US in swimming in 1984 and holding 5 world records - only her countrymen Phelps would come along to surpass her dominance in the pool!

And then there’s Mark, busy winning his own Olympic silver medals for Australia at the ‘84 Games, while concurrently studying engineering, commerce and later economics.

Now heading up the very successful Development – residential - property and funds management group STOCKWELLS, he spends his days in risk management, acquisition and identifying new areas of investment. He’s constantly serving on boards such as The Commonwealth Games, The Chair of Trade & Investment Qld, Past president of the Property council and even the current Tokyo 2020 Australia Olympic Team Appeal Committee Chairman!! Does this man ever sleep?!?

Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Tracey made the voyage across to Australia post swimming and has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her service to sport in this country and in particular opportunities for women in sport!

But here’s the kicker...they have 5 children!! I could have started and ended their legendary intro with just that!

I appreciate you both for carving out a slice of your lives to share with our audience the design of a power couple and what you have created as a family!

Today, we continue the conversation with a boxing champion and his incredible wife! I have watched enough Rocky & Creed movies to know that the real story happens behind the scenes and away from the boxing ring. Jeff & Joanna Horn met in Year 8 and eventually married in 2014.

Joanna studied business and sport’s management and can be found ringside for all of Jeff’s fights. Even his epic 12-round win in 2017 over welterweight world Champion Manny Pacquiao to thousands of Aussie screaming fans in Brisbane. Being crowned Welterweight boxing Champion thrust Jeff into the limelight like never before.

Nat introduced me to Jeff at the 2012 London Games & I’ll never forget this moment of him doing some form of footwork/air punching warm up and thinking “can arms really accelerate that fast – it was like a Bruce Lee moment”. He was a relative unknown on the scene and as his popularity soars, his ego does not. Don’t you just love that in people?!? His humility and understated character has continued on no matter his successes. Somehow, he seems like that “constant underdog” that you can’t help but pull for.

But then, put yourself in the shoes of his high school sweetheart wife, who has never missed a fight, with two young kids at home, (who probably liked it a lot more when he was a PE teacher), watching the man you love and the father of your kids constantly being beaten in the head. And there have been some bloody match ups for Jeff. She has been quoted as saying:

“When I see him looking dazed up there, it’s just soul-destroying, being on the other side of the ropes, not knowing exactly how he’s feeling or if he’s all right, because it’s not just me now, there’s our daughters, Isabelle and Charlotte, who need him too.”

She has even gone as far as saying: “How would you like it if you had to sit there and watch me get punched like that?”

I know I am going to love getting to know this woman more. Someone who says what many of us are thinking.

As Covid-19 hits the sporting community hard, Jeff’s April bout has been postponed and so the pressure mounts to not only from promoters to get this fight underway but also his plan of retiring by age 35 looms.

I cannot wait to chat to this unassuming couple about the 360 degree view of the entire life of a fighter…

Ok, you two, I wonder who’s going to have more to say during this interview…

Today, we continue the conversation with the “intrigue-of-the-party”. Tina Pathak is that person that no one can stop talking about. She waltzed into my Mothers Group four years ago w her newborn baby in a pram, shared her birth story (full of juicy details about going into labour over the most scrumptious steak sandwich at a local place we both love) and I instantly knew, I have to be friends w this woman!

I’ve know her as Tina Pathak these past yrs and somehow, she sends her bio to me as Teressa Joseph. Of course she has many names. She’s seriously the “the international wo-MAN of mystery”??

Born in India, she quickly moved to Saudi Arabia but when the Gulf War struck – they moved on to Dubai. At age 12, she returned to India by herself to attend boarding school at her Uncles newly developed school. She couldn’t have known that 3yrs later, her parents would return to India bowing their heads having been duped out of their fortune in Dubai. Tina’s Father, who she lovingly calls “Appa”, gathered up his wife and worked to the bone to re-create a life for his family in India once again.

Studying Engineering IT, and later a Philanthropy degree; Tina’s life spanned India and Ireland before she married her husband Sumeet in an arranged marriage (that’s a story I promise we’re going to get to) and now has two kids under the age of 5 living in Brisbane, Australia.

Her Father’s final words to her were whispered in her ear: “you are so beautiful and talented and creative, make sure you do something. Don’t stay at home.”

The greatest sadness of her life was when her Dad passed unexpectedly - she has been fulfilling on his prophetic words ever since.

This woman is an enigmatic presence in our community and I can’t wait to share her with you all…we can all grow from someone w her life experiences…

We’re so glad you’re here at In The Game Podcast Tina, it’s been a long time coming…

Today, we continue the conversation with a gemmologist. Known as a “Diamond surgeon”, Karl Schwantes is an award-winning designer who grew up playing at the work benches of his parents’ business – Xennox Diamonds. Creating and designing pieces of his own as early as 12, he would first study science, get a psych degree and join the Australian Army - rising to the rank of Captain - before FINALLY taking over the family business and leading into this next generation.

As an internationally award winning author of the book “Rock Her World”, he’s become a social-media craftsmen who can weave a story in the written word or lead a keynote w his gentlemanly humor.

As a passionate and committed philanthropist with 4 kids, I can’t wait to uncover what has this man of many talents rise up each morning in the service of other peoples loving-dream-moments!

The Goods on Karl:

An award winning designer, he is a man of many talents and a true gentleman. With a background in the military, he encapsulates the values of honour, integrity and focus. But it is his love of diamonds that truly makes him shine.

His skill at creating magnificent pieces of jewellery was honed as a child playing at the work benches in his parents’ business – Xennox Diamonds. As an earnest eight year old, he helped out at the Brisbane store sweeping floors and making coffee, observing the craftsman at work, guided by his father. By the time he was 12, he was creating and designing pieces of his own. Little wonder diamonds are his passion…and always on his mind.

Before making the leap into the family business, Karl studied science, earning a degree in psychology from The University of Queensland. Then driven by the desire to serve his country, he enlisted in the Australian Army rising to the rank of Captain.

Described by those who know him as a ‘diamond surgeon’, what he knows about these precious stones could fill a book or three. His regular blog posts explores the world of diamonds and jewellery, teaching people everything they could want to know.

As an award winning designer, Karl has an uncanny eye for quality and uniqueness. His craft lies in making unique jewellery but also in connecting with the people who walk through his door, taking them on a journey to find or create a special piece that tells a story. He has helped over 5,000 couples find the right piece for them… helping them create their story – stories that define life’s poignant – diff word maybe moments from wedding to birth…and everything in between.

As a passionate and committed philanthropist, he gives his time to a number of worthy organisations including The Zig Zag Foundation where he has sat on the board and been an ambassador for many years helping raise more than $100k for underprivileged children. As the father of four children, this a charity close to his heart.

Proudly supporting Legacy, over the past three years, Xennox Diamonds has helped them raise over $30,000. Since 2011, Karl grabs his sleeping bag in support of Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout . Blessed with good fortune, he knows that sometimes life can throw a curve ball and we all need to step up to help out. Lending his voice to Vinnies is his way of helping to raise awareness about homelessness.

Today, we continue the conversation with sisters Lina & Petia Yanchulova, who’s lives demonstrate that not even a communist regime can stop a dream. Their story is what’s possible if you continue following the thread of your life! I have decided to read Lina’s words directly - to introduce them to you all bc I was so impacted when she sent it to me.

Their story in Lina’s words:
"My dearest Tzvetelina, take a look at this letter - someone must have thought it's trash and tossed it out but I remembered what you wrote to me a long time ago, that you are looking for a way to leave Bulgaria. Looks to me like a recruiting letter to play volleyball in an American university. This may be your chance." – This from a snail mail letter from my Cyprian pen pal, with whom I was practicing English, would change my life forever.

Many things were heavily restricted in communist Bulgaria but the authorities could not stop a childhood dream, even if it was a crazy, impossible dream.

At 17, I went to the United States, alone, to attend the University of Idaho on a volleyball scholarship. Three years later, Petia joined at the University of San Diego (another fun story!) and when I graduated from college, I moved to San Diego to join my sister. The year was 1996, the first time beach volleyball was played in the Olympics. Watching the competition from my couch, I started formulating yet another, even more daring dream... could it be possible to play in the Olympics?

In our first few international tournaments in 1998, we got completely crushed on the court - leaving us to sleep on the streets of Marseille w no money for hotels. It was a new sport, requiring a lot of time to learn but I was working full time to support a family and Petia was still a full time student. With only 7 international tournaments under our belts, we started the year 2000 ranked #73 in the World. To qualify for the Sydney Olympics, we needed to pass 50 other more experienced, better trained and funded teams in less than two months time to make the qualification cut off.

Playing on Bondi Beach in the Olympics was a dream come true. After the Sydney Olympic dream, we were joined by Mom and Dad in the United States as we continued to compete on the international tour, qualifying for and finishing 9th in Athens 2004.

The dreams didn't stop there, I rebuilt myself from a divorce and bankruptcy to marrying the man of my dreams and raising a wonderful family with three children, while also building a real estate business and starting a foundation with my husband.

Petia kept reaching for the stars, re-kindling a childhood dream of hers to become an Astronomer, which took her on a 12 year journey to start college all over again from scratch and defend a Ph.D. in AstroPhysics - just days before giving birth to her second baby boy. She received an invitation to join the prestigious Space Telescope Science Institute at John Hopkins University, the home of the Hubble Space Telescope, studying interstellar dust particles that can gives us hints of the origins of the Universe as well as a glimpse of where we may be headed.

Today, we continue the conversation with founder and managing director of the fully integrated Creative Marketing agency Made4Media. Starting in the TV industry, Rebecca Pini was the youngest News Director at Channel 10 (a leading TV network in Australia) for 10 years before moving to the UK to work with film mogul Columbia TriStar & Sony Pictures.

Her extensive experience in the ever-evolving marketing and communications industry is what has led her to long-standing relationships w big name clients for the past 17yrs. Priding herself on hard-work, and a collaborative approach within her team, she has positioned her agency to be one of great repute and workability!

You really get the sense that this woman is most proud of the work she does for those who can’t afford what she offers: the Women’s Hospital Foundation, Group 61 focussing on mental health and the Allison Baden-Clay Foundation dealing w domestic & family violence – which she does all pro-bono.

I can’t wait to discover what has such an experienced woman in her industry be such a champion for other women in business. I think we are going to learn a lot today about the true success that comes from collaborating and lifting others up...

Today, we continue the conversation with the Managing Partner of a private Occupational Therapy practice in Brisbane focusing on supporting children and families. Completing her PhD in 2011, Fiona Driver has since presented at international events and multiple academic environments in support of children experiencing “the joy of childhood”.

Having two young children herself, she has served as an accepting and uplifting sounding board for me, as our children are only one day apart in age and we used to be neighbors. During the critical years of childhood development, we as parents carry our own baggage and expectations for our children’s growth markers.

Having just experienced a unique time in our history during Covid-19 Isolation, where kids came home for weeks and months, rather than the usual time spent w teachers and other students; parents have been exposed more than ever to how their kids act/react/behave. But have we been able to see who they really are? Are we able to look beyond the shield of expectations we have for them? Have we merely been exposed to who we really are as parents!?!

I brought Dr. Fiona on the call today to speak some knowledge, experience and some soothing into us parents, so we can begin enjoying childhood as much as they are!

The Goods on Fiona:

Fiona is the Managing Partner of a private Occupational Therapy practice, focusing on supporting children and families. She is a registered and experienced Occupational Therapist, and completed her PhD in 2011. Fiona has presented at state, national and international events, and been involved with teaching and learning in university, school and professional environments. She is a member of the OTA Queensland Divisional Council, UQ and ACU OT Program Advisory Boards, and the IMCH Board (early childhood education). Fiona has a passion for supporting all children to thrive, and experiencing the joy of childhood.

Today, we STOP in our TRACTS for this conversation…with a black man! A man who has been in my life for over 20 years and impacted it in ways that continue to unfold…

Steve Anderson was born in Louisville, Kentucky in the 60s – which is considered one of the most dangerous cities on earth. When his Dad was shot by his “supposed” friend when he was just 9yrs old, anger smoldered within him, “how could my Mom not press charges? How could the other man, shot in the mouth, live; and my Dad, shot in the leg - die?” So many inbuilt experiences of growing up Black permeated his body before he moved to LA to start life on his own at 21 – but quickly, he began his decades-long navigation of the globe starting in Switzerland.

Picked up by two budding beach volleyball players from Australia, he would move to Perth to execute the dream of winning Olympic medals – which he did with a Bronze in ’96 and a Gold in 2000 w Nat Cook & Kerri Pottharst. Marrying his Swiss Aussie wife in 2000, he remained Nat’s coach for 16yrs.

During that time, he would head up coaching programs in Bali and Venuatu and leave legacies for athletes and organizations in those countries over the next 10yrs. My Canadian beach team would rise to our best ever World finish of 7th place under his guidance and the things I learned with this man can only be described as “zen tutelage”!

Steve became instrumental in my life for being able to ask and express things that sometimes, it felt like, there was no one else to really, be comfortable asking. My Mom married my Black Dad in 1973 (when Interracial marriage was only legalized in the US in 1967 – 6yrs prior) and many family members refused to come to that wedding. My Mom and Dad hailed from one of the most racially charged cities in Canada, being on the Atlantic Coast where many slave boats dropped off “cargo” (and I say it like that bc that’s how it was back then) in the 1800s before heading down to the US cities. There is even a city in Atlantic Canada called “Afric-ville” bc of its dense population of blacks. My last name of Maxwell is actually Scottish bc my great-great-great GrandFather was a cook on the ship where every black person took the Masters name of Maxwell!

In 2013, Steve left to head up the whole of Team Canada BVP with his now 5yr old son and soon to be new wife Alicia. He would lead that country to #1 in the world within a short 2 year period.

Recently, he was asked by his suburb, aptly named “The Beaches” in Toronto to give the speech for their #BlackLivesMatter march. He begins our conversation with his emotional share of his life experience as a Black Global Citizen of this planet we call earth!

Today, we continue the conversation with the first ever female AFL Grand Final Umpire. Chelsea Roffey recounts the goosebump-worthy moment in 2012 when thousands of fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground cheered her on for her presence on the field as the historical female first in sport.

She may always have been sporty yet she started out as an aspiring musician with a scholarship at the Queensland Conservatorium and transitioned into journalism due to her love of language and communication.

As a Churchill Fellow exploring “social change that enables girls to be authors of their own lives”, she’s gone on to be a Gender & Diversity Facilitator, a journalist, a speaker and an author. It’s her experiences as female in a non-traditional domain however that revealed the untapped potential for driving performance through diversity.

Creating an online program to help businesses climb out of Covid-19 on “How to Attract and Retain Greater Diversity”, she seems to constantly be creating new and different ways to contribute to society.

The Goods on Chelsea:

Gender and diversity facilitator | Churchill Fellow | First female AFL Grand Final umpire

Born in South Australia, raised in Queensland and cultured in Melbourne, an innate interest in uncharted territory lured me to the intrepid world of goal umpiring at age 17. In my youth, moustached middle-aged men in overcoats were as much a fixture of Australian football as meat pies and yelling "Ball!" for holding decisions.

No moustache ... no problem! Jumping head-first into waving the flags for gender equality, it became evident that playing to my strengths would enable me to thrive. Lived experience has since proved the nature of diversity of thinking to drive both individual and collective performance.

In 2012 I became the first woman to umpire an AFL Grand Final. But the true breakthrough was becoming the first umpire in history to be cheered (yes, cheered!) by the crowd ahead of that epic battle between Sydney and Hawthorn.

Before my weekend hobby became a profession, I was an aspiring musician, having received an academic scholarship to study a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium. Following a stint studying biomedical science, I switched to journalism, combining a love of language and communication with the adrenaline-charged life of AFL football.

I have explored themes of culture, equality and performance in a range of forums; including as an invited guest of the APEC Women's Leadership Forum in Beijing, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York, and during a Winston Churchill Fellowship, visiting the US, Canada, UK, Sweden and India.

Pioneering the role of women in a non-traditional domain, my experiences have alerted me to the untapped potential in driving performance through diversity.

Today, we continue the conversation with a woman steeped in Corporate Organizational Structure. 10 years ago, Michelle Black was a senior organizational development consultant in Brisbane but felt she could be making a bigger difference… when she came upon University level couseling and psychology.

Focussing initially on stress & anxiety among children and adults in care organisations, she has recently written a children’s book called “Ellie and the Sunflowers” aimed at soothing anxiety and worry in young people’s lives. Using evidence-based tools, the story keeps the learnings external which allows them to be more easily received by children of diverse abilities. The story of Emily and her new horse Ellie are ideal for these times of isolation where kids may be feeling lonely, confused, unsure or even anxious.

The stats say that more than 6% of children across our population experience anxiety – but I’m going to shift the focus today to a lighter word “angst” as I believe that includes many more kids – like myself growing up.

The Goods on Michelle:

Michelle Black, founder of Elegrow is an Organisational Development Consultant, Educator Counsellor and author with more than 20 years’ experience as a senior manager and executive; Leading, developing and transforming people and their experiences for positive outcomes. Michelle has a Master of Counselling – Behaviour specialisation, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Training and Development and has a Grad. Cert. Corporate Management.

Author of Ellie and the Sunflowers

Developed combined intervention program from the empirical evidence to risk manage and alleviate stress, trauma and secondary trauma among care professionals: The Care Professional’s Resilience Program. Pilot study of the program revealed statistically significant outcomes

Erik is happily married to his wife, Peta, and the two have a beautiful daughter named Sol and a new Pax at 5 months old.

Today, we continue the conversation with one of the world’s biggest superstars that many outside of China have never heard of. Part of me thinks she might like the fact that she isn’t recognized by people, as her humility oozes from her media presence.

Australian-born Heidi Dugan had a quick stint in Japan in her 20s that changed her life. Detouring through China, she first landed in Wuhan and was transported by the culture. Eventually marrying her Kung Fu teacher (as you do), now speaking fluent Mandarin, and becoming the first foreigner to appear as the host of a TV show, called “You are the Chef”. Appearing on Chinese TV for the past 17yrs means that many millions of people grew up watching her. She now has two children and three companies, has written 2 cookbooks, consults to Fortune500 companies on the Chinese marketplace, is Managing Director for a trading company, and somehow finds time to be given the first ever foreign permit to host a LIVE broadcast on ‘The Oriental Shopping Channel’ (seen by more than 70million ppl) where she is known to do millions of $$ of sales in 90mins!!

How does this demure and graceful-looking Grace Kelly do it all?? Her story is so important as she remains agile in life and open to opportunities around her. She is definitely “in the game” of life and I want to talk to her about her daily wellness routine and how she manages to raise two incredible children amidst a big life. It’s stories like Heidi’s that reminds us all of what’s possible…

Whether its an interview w Haarpers Bizarre or the Australian Financial Review, she always come across as herself – the real deal. These are the kind of people we love bringing into the light here on “In the Game Podcast”

Thanks Heidi for taking being flexible and open to recording this a second time after zoom had a malfunction our first time around – this is like that great opportunity to ask all those things I’d wish I’d asked the first time around…

Today, we continue the conversation with an experienced couple who’s mission to be the most authentic, innovative, and impactful whole food company in the world is taking shape! Based on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, Howard & Cyndi O’Meara have their sights on Generational Health with their thriving company “Changing Habits”.

Their mutual eclectic backgrounds are what I believe has them serve their community in a unique and profound way: Howard began as a teacher then into the Police force where he was selected as Prince Edwards’ long-time NZ personal bodyguard then becoming a team Chiropractor traveling the world with NZ rugby, BBall, Rugby union, BMX, surf life saving, iron man and the best of all Beach Volleyball where we fell in love with him!

All the while, Cyndi was focusing on her passion for nutrition but couldn’t stomach the traditional teachings at Uni so headed off for what was then “alternative” caveman research in Colorado to uncover more. Upon her return to Australia, she tried her hand at pre-med and Chiropractic where she met Howard. Her heart wasn’t fully in it and she focused on family for the next yrs, including traveling across all of Australia in a supped-up bus for two years with all three kids. Then, in 1998, she wrote her first book “Changing Habits, Changing Lives” – which was an instant best-seller. It became evident that the world was receptive to her controversial ideas around nutrition – she no longer had to sit on the sidelines but began speaking her message to very open ears! Though the local newspaper would ask her to retract her stories denigrating margarine, we all know that her rants on the goodness of butter are but one of the topics where she is having “the last laugh”.

About 10yrs ago, Howard approached Cyndi with the creative vision that they could bring their OWN products to market to accentuate the message she was gathering crowds around week in and week out. They began with an initial order of 500kilos of their “ultra-healthy salts” which sold out immediately. Having 35 staff at their most prosperous, today, they import over 6 tons of their salt to their loyal community of Health nuts!

The Goods on Cyndi & Howie:Cyndi is about educating. Her greatest love is to teach, both in the public arena and within the large corporate food companies, to enable everyone to make better choices so they too can enjoy greater health throughout their lives. Her unique, surprisingly simple yet extensively researched but down-to-earth approach, challenges and encourages others to eliminate unhealthy habits and has inspired thousands to make smarter choices about the food they choose to put into their body.

Cyndi has been included in the Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards for 2016, 2016 Australian Organic Retailer of the Year Finalist and within Queensland, Australia received the Sunshine Coast Sustainable Business Woman of the Year 2016 and Finalist for the Sunshine Coast Business Awards.

Today, we continue the conversation with Former Senior Director of ‘Xbox Games Marketplace’ and ‘Microsoft Online’. Kathryn Foster is a powerhouse who has humbly moved her family out of Seattle and onto the beautiful shores of the Sunshine Coast where she currently heads up ‘MacroData Digital Solutions’ which aims to host an eco-friendly DataCentre in Qld and create a tech hub in Maroochydore.

I shall not pretend on any stretch to comprehend what Kathryn really does and so today, we feature her on our show as a woman, a Mother, a brilliant mind who continues to challenge the status quo and bring new ideas and intelligence to our ecosystem. I hope she can help bridge the gap for us “layman” so that we too can support technological advancements within our community, our businesses and even our families.

I have warned Kathryn that she may need to dumb it down for me today but what I know for sure is that she is a human being first and that as a woman, a Mother, a business person, she has dreams and aspirations for her life and that of her family; we aren’t all robots yet so we definitely all speak that language.

The Goods on Kathryn:

Experienced, multi-faceted, professional with a proven track record of progressive business results. Competencies include: Business strategy and planning, especially with Web Services and Internet optimization for both corporations and start-ups, as well as architectural development and governance, and program management.

Vertical industry experience includes: Telecom, Financial Services and high tech.

Passion for designing and implementing platforms and programs that scale operations with high customer satisfaction. Consistently described by peers as one “who see's the business opportunity clearly and executes flawlessly”.

Specialties: Internet Merchandising and Sales, Business Architect. Web and SQL Service architecture; Service API design; SQL; Microsoft Windows Server (NT, 2000, 2003, 2008, 2012), IIS, Web, AD, MSMQ, .NET, C++, C#, SOA, SOAP & API, SaaS, LAMP, Ubuntu Linux, MySQL, Apache Web Server, PhP 5

Today, we continue the conversation with one of the winningest Olympians of all time – sorry Nat L Whether it was her stellar Collegiate Indoor Volleyball career where she is considered the best all-around player in history or her unprecedented 102 match winning streak in international beach volleyball in 2007/2008, Kerri Walsh Jennings somehow manages to also win Sportswoman of the Year as well. Transcending the sport of beach volleyball by winning Gold in 2004, 2008 and again in 2012 w her partner Misty May, it would be appearances like Oprah and Ellen that would solidify her as a star but I believe its more like the fact that she raised three kids w her husband Casey during this whole Golden ride!

She truly epitomizes the Whitney Houston song “Every Woman” as she now heads up her passion project P1440 w her hubby – a digital platform exclusively built around the sport and culture of beach volleyball. But don’t think she’s done getting her feet sandy as she is in the running for qualification for her 6th Olympic Games. And don’t think the first-ever postponement of the Games will get her down – only serves as more time to “sharpen the blade” as she commented!

It's her attitude for life that I really want to explore. Yes, she’s one of the winningest athletes of all time, but she is so much more than that. She’s somehow relatable and lovely and smart and funny and lovingly thoughtful and courageous all balled into one…lets dive a little deeper into the making of such a human!

The Goods on Kerri:

Paired up with Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh-Jennings won Olympic gold in beach volleyball at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games, and is known as one of the best players to ever compete in the sport. At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, Walsh-Jennings and May-Treanor started off with a bang, defeating Australia, the Czech Republic, Austria, The Netherlands, Italy and China. They went on the win the final against fellow American team Jennifer Kessy and April Ross, 2-0 (21-16, 21-16), taking their third consecutive gold medal in beach volleyball. Upon May-Treanor's retirement, Walsh-Jennings paired up with former competitor April Ross for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In 2005, Walsh-Jennings married Casey Jennings, a top U.S. men's beach volleyball player. She gave birth to the couple's first child, Joseph Michael Jennings, in May 2009. The couple had another son, Sundance Thomas, in May 2010, and a daughter, Scout Montgomery, in April 2013.

In February 2018, the volleyball star opened up to CNN about the professional complications that follow the news of a pregnancy, from the loss of sponsors to warnings of physical problems that could impede career ambitions.

Today, we continue the conversation with a living legend. Born in 1937 in Balmain, NSW, she brought pride to her country with her lightening fast world record times in the pool and yet somehow, wickipedia still qualifies her as a larikin (the Canadian in me shall have to ask what that even means!) In 1999, Dawn Fraser was voted “World's Greatest Living Female Water Sports Champion” by the International Olympic Committee for such feats as being one of only three swimmers in the world to have won the same Olympic individual event three times – just to give you context, Michael Phelps is one of those other two! She also held the 100m freestyle world record for more than 15yrs.

All of this, and yet its some of her bigger controversies at the 1964 Tokyo Games that remain in Aussie history. She not only decided to march in the Opening Ceremonies against the governing body’s wishes but then was accused of stealing an Olympic flag from a flagpole outside Emperor Hirohito's palace and then later suspended for 10yrs by the Australian Swimming Union - only to retire under that suspension. Knowing that she was in a car crash weeks before these Games where her mother Rose was killed and her and her sister survived; has me wondering what the impact of those tragedies would have had on her. Somehow, she still managed to win a GOLD and SILVER medal at those same Games. How does one woman handle all of that and still perform?

At a spry 83yrs old, she can be found these days spending her Isolation days with her daughter and Grandson on the Sunshine Coast. A far cry from her stint in politics, she continues to mentor and contribute to upcoming athletes and swimmers alike; she always seems to be in the mix no matter the occasion.

Thanks Dawnie for taking time out of your busy isolation schedule to chat to our worldwide audience who are most likely in similar circumstance...

The Goods on Dawn:

Fraser won eight Olympic medals, including four gold medals, and six Commonwealth Games gold medals. She also held 39 records. The 100 metres freestyle record was hers for 15 years from 1 December 1956 to 8 January 1972.

She is the first of only three swimmers in Olympic history (Krisztina Egerszegi of Hungary and Michael Phelps of the United States being the two others) to have won individual gold medals for the same event at three successive Olympics (100 metres freestyle – 1956, 1960, 1964).

In October 1962, she became the first woman to swim 100 metres freestyle in less than one minute. It was not until 1972, eight years after Fraser retired, that her 100m record of 58.9 secs was broken.

Several weeks before the 1964 Olympics, Fraser was injured in a car crash that resulted in the death of her mother Rose. Her sister and a friend were also travelling in Fraser's car when it crashed, but they survived. This was a fresh tragedy for Fraser and her family following her older brother's death from leukemia in 1950, and her father died after a long battle against cancer in 1960.

Today, we continue the conversation with the founders of The Influencer Project. The “bro-mance” between Andrew McWhirter & Rana Saini has been an evolution of their diverse backgrounds in the foray of so many aspects of business and life. For Andrew, the past 15yrs has been about buying & selling businesses, raising capital and creating one business venture after another – never really stopping until complete burnt out leveled him with a diagnosis of a stress condition.

Meanwhile, the young whipper-snapper Rana was starting his foray into business inside the fitness industry. Quickly realizing that the word “lifestyle” didn’t exist under the grind of: market, sell, hire, fire, create systems, be on top of finances and maintain cash flow – he discovered online marketing and lead systems as a way out to free up some of his time for his wife and what other things he loved in life.

Their mutual love of marketing and business growth teamed them back up after Andrew had been one of Rana’s first business mentors. Together, they are innovating the digital-online marketplace with innovative social-strategies for business influencers who are looking to be on the leading edge.

Ok boys, I know business is going gang busters at the moment so totally appreciate this moment to pause and reflect on what led you to here…

The Goods on The Influencer Project:

The Influencer Project was founded in 2015 by Andrew McWhirter and Rana Saini. Originally, Evolve Digital Agency, the main focus was on full-service digital services and Facebook marketing. Since its origins, The Influencer Project has grown and expanded into a fully fledged training and coaching organisation for business development. The business frameworks designed by Rana and Andrew have generated millions of dollars in new business for their clients and they are passionate about sharing their strategies to help their clients grow their own businesses. Today, Rana continues to innovate the digital online marketplace for both his business and that of his clients to build systems for business growth and create innovative social strategies for business influencers looking to lead their marketplace. Andrew now wakes up every morning feeling inspired to help other potential 'Influencers' grow their community and enjoy the by-products of the growth that can come from this.

2)   Disconnection  A new definition of the feeling of connecting

3)   I’ve got too much time on my hands  All I’ve ever wanted was TIME

Nat helps you plan for:

1)    “staying active”

2)   Not over-eating (snacking with purpose)

3)   Boosting Your Health

4)   Conferencing Calls and Zooming for business

Today, we continue the conversation with founder & CEO of iStaySafe and the TicTocTrack solution for kids. She is a woman on a mission to help parents feel more secure about their kids and promote safety for the most vulnerable in our communities.

Karen Cantwell was like many new mothers preparing for their transition back into the workforce, while anxiously wondering how her first child would brave their first “big school” experience. This woman however, decided to follow the thread of her safety concerns and not stop until she developed the smallest wearable technology for kids in the world!

It apparently did not matter whatsoever that she had zero knowledge about technology!

Going on to develop her own bespoke software and app to link to the watches, people across the country can now locate their loved ones from their smartphones. Most recently, with the acquisition of another company, they have extended into personal safety solutions for aged care and most notably domestic violence.

I am looking forward to diving into the life of this female entrepreneur who never lets her ideas sit on the table – not without turning them over, prodding, poking and discovering until she comes up with solutions that transform the community around her.

The Goods on Karen:

As a mum of two young boys, keeping them safe was a constant challenge and something that was always on Karen’s mind. While she wished she could be with them 24/7 she realised that as they grew and developed into young men they needed to make their own choices around safety. So, in 2012 Karen set out to find tools to help educate her boys and keep them safe by allowing them to stay connected with her in times of need.

This quest led her to set up iStaySafe Pty Ltd and develop the TicTocTrack® solution. TicTocTrack® went on to become the worlds’ smallest safety watch for kids and was one of two watches globally that entered the market in 2014. Karen then went on to develop her own bespoke software platform and App’s to link the watches to, allowing parents across the country to locate their loved ones from their smart phone or computer.

Fast forward a number of years and following the recent acquisition of Find-Me Technologies, Karen’s company offers personal safety solutions not only to the child safety market but, lone worker, aged care and domestic violence as well. With significant investments from ACAC Innovation and the Qld Government, iStaySafe has been able to build on its start-up roots and initial $150,000 investment from family and friends, into a formidable player in the mobile personal safety market.

Prior to iStaySafe Karen held various positions in Sales and Marketing and following 4 years as General Manager of a multi-million dollar Advertising Agency, started her own agency Atlantis Consulting in 2005. She constantly seeks ways to innovate in any business she is engaged with which serves her well in her entrepreneurial journey. Karen hold’s a Masters in Business Administration from QUT with minors in International Business and Marketing.

The Goods on Loz:
From an early age, Lauren knew she was going to live an extraordinary life. She thought she would uncover some magical mystery of the universe or catch a rocket to outer-space – whatever it was, she knew it would something that would impact the lives of others.

She grew up in a family of five, the eldest of 3 kids and the daughter of a nurse mother and military father. As a child, she always loved to entertain people, singing and dancing on her neighbours balcony each week and putting on plays with her outcast group of misfit but kind-natured friends. She always loved to learn but was a tom-boy at heart, obsessed with riding BMXs and building high-tech Lego creations. A high-achiever from a young age, she played representative basketball, dabbled in musical theatre and placed highly with track and field sports. Unfortunately, Lauren was always teased for the way she looked and for being academically inclined, but this just fuelled her fire to define herself in other parts of life.

Upon graduating from high school, Lauren was accepted into university on a scholarship and planned to graduate as an engineer. Half-way through her tertiary studies, however, she grappled with the sudden onset of severely chronic ill-health and was forced to re-asses her future career pathway. Developing a keen interest in social science and commerce, In the final year of her undergraduate degree, Lauren went into business with her father and she continues to oversee the success of her growing, multi-award winning enterprise as CEO over a decade later. Despite battling a sea of emotional and physical obstacles, including the suicide of her first husband and the discovery of a congenital hole in her heart in her 30s, Lauren has overcome a lifetime’s worth of challenges that have lead her down a path of self-discovery, self-love and ultimately, fulfillment and gratitude. She is a true believer that life happens for you, not to you.

Having been overweight, underweight and struggling with depression and self-sabotage at various stages of her life, Lauren is now dedicated to living life to her fullest potential by applying sustainable living practices to her daily routine by way of nutrition, mindset, fitness and wealth management. Now a certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness and Matwork Pilates Instructor, award-winning bikini fitness model and wellness advocate, she is committed to transforming lives by leading her own extraordinary life and inspiring others to do the same.

Today, we continue the conversation with a man who worked for Telcos, Fintec and Software companies and consulted for big players in Australia like NRMA and Suncorp only to choose complete fulfilment as a FULL-TIME DAD!

Realizing that his two kids were young and that he didn’t want to miss a minute of it, he shelved his double Masters degrees and replaced them with Chai-colada instead.  He zooms in and out of the daycare space like an OG and right into wheeling and dealing boutique cafes w his Chai start up, his advising in the UAV space and boutique property development.

I was drawn to this man instantly.  I could feel that John Solomon was no ordinary Indian man and that he had LIFE coursing through his veins and I needed to know more about it.

So, here we are able to sit down and really uncover what allowed him to transition out of the stereotypical success role and into one that is filled with one kid on the hip and the other banging away on his drums while Dad makes the eternal SNACKS!!

I appreciate you John for taking a moment out of Daddy-daycare to share with our community of dreamers…

Today, we continue the conversation with a corporate lawyer turned Youth Fitness Advocate. Imagine being a leading corporate lawyer and management consultant advising publicly-listed companies and governments on how to save millions of dollars to then buying and building your own gym aimed at teaching and training kids. It’s not like these two things were related fields AT ALL.

Sam Mathers was the Australian Corporate Mum-of-2 who was passionate about her CrossFit and exercise and was coaching functional fitness to youth as a volunteer. It was a conversation between her and her hubby that asked: “if I could do anything and money didn’t matter…if I could do what I’m truly passionate about…what would I be doing? And the answer came out crystal clear: coaching youth!”. She recognized that Consulting law may have paid well and she was good at it, but she wasn’t changing lives – so the writing was on the wall in big BLOCK letters: MAKE THE CHANGE. And in 2016, she created “Fitter Futures” w her front and centre tagline…“Changing Lives”. She no longer dreams about what could be but is living it, moment by moment.

When Sam invited us to her colourful, modern and epic new gym-space-opening, hearing her story had me know I had to share it with our wider community – it’s the permission some of you need TO TAKE THE PLUNGE. As you listen to her story, pls be aware that this has been brewing in her since 2012 and possibly even longer before that; its an evolution. Recognize what stage you might be in and then listen for what’s possible in Sam’s story!

The Goods on Sam at Fitter Futures:

I’ve always been active, as a kid, teenager and now adult. And as a parent of two young daughters, I am very conscious of being a role model who has a big influence on their mindset with respect to self-image, self-confidence, setting goals, and being healthy, fit individuals.

I love how our program here at Fitter Futures appeals to lots of different types of kids and teens, including those who until now, may have struggled to enjoy physical exertion or sports. And for those kids who are enthusiastic athletes in their chosen sports, we have seen how our training program helps them develop their athleticism and improve performance in those pursuits.

It’s so satisfying to see kids and teens having fun while being challenged, and gaining confidence by achieving something great in every work-out. Aside from the obvious physical benefits, our program fosters self-belief and kids learn life lessons about resilience, perseverance, trying your best, respecting your body and respecting and encouraging others.

I am passionate about ensuring that every child we coach has a great experience, and that we positively impact the future of every athlete that we are lucky enough to work with.Start working on your body today, and with our individual fitness program, already in 90 days you will see a totally different girl in the mirror!

Today, we continue the conversation with an Australian serial entrepreneur. Best known for co-founding the start-up Temando where he layered a level of technical intelligence over the entire fulfillment process of goods - It became one of the biggest technology companies in Australia – raising $56M in funding, and establishing 5 major global offices which was recently sold to a $1.5B Revenue French Listed Company!

In many ways, he is living every Start Ups dream, and yet, I’m sure we will hear about the hurdles he had to jump to make it a success. Carl Hartmann has since co-founded Shortlyster as a response to the recruitment challenge he faced in growing his own tech business so quickly. Most recently, he is a co-founder of Lyre Spirit Co which has recreated the major alcoholic beverages in ‘non-alcoholic’ form. Lyre has quickly become one of the fastest growing new consumer products in the world!

“Midas Touch” is what I keep thinking. Winning multiple awards like the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year Australia and being an adjunct professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, we clearly can learn a lot about “taking an idea and creating it into a living, breathing entity in the world!

Thanks Carl for spending time sharing your journey with us…

The Goods on Carl:

Carl Hartmann is a prominent, multi-award winning Australian serial entrepreneur, who is best known for his work in co-founding Temando, Shortlyster and Lyre’s Spirit Co, and his involvement as an investor & board member/advisor to a range of leading technology companies around the world, including AI cross border compliance platform Hurricane (UK), electric Jetboard manufacturer Radinn (Sweden), drone delivery company Flirtey (USA), leading LATAM shipping platform Intelipost (Brazil) and FMCG solutions platform Brandlink (Australia).

Carl Co-Founded his first start up Temando in response to the disconnect between the delivery experience consumers were receiving and the fulfillment capability of today’s merchants. Carl realized the need for a layer of technical intelligence over the entire fulfillment process - from wherever goods are, to wherever they need to be, no matter how they need to get there. Carl took Temando from an idea to one of the largest Australian technology companies, having raised over $56M in funding, established 5 major global offices and established many global strategic partnerships with both carriers and technology partners, and was successfully acquired in a trade sale by Neopost S.A. ($1.5B Revenue French Listed Company) in 2017.

Having experience firsthand the challenges of recruitment in a fast-growing technology company, after exiting Temando, Carl co-founded Shortlyster, an intelligent recruitment platform that solves the problem of matching candidates to job roles with specific skill sets, and helps ensure candidates are the right fit for organisational cultures. The platform uses a big data approach and applies its unique algorithms to match candidates to role requirements. It actively compares and contrasts candidates and rank orders them according to suitability. Shortlyster helps companies save time and money in their recruitment process and more importantly, help them get the right candidates with the right skills, the right qualifications, and right person-fit characteristics. Shortlyster has raised $5M in funding to date, and is now going through tremendous growth across Australia, the UK and USA.

Most recently, Carl also co-founded Lyre’s Spirit Co – an innovative beverage company using cutting edge food science, that has recreated all the major alcoholic spirits in non-alcoholic format, in response to growing segments of the population who either do not drink alcohol or choose to drink less – but still want an the taste of an adult drink.

The retired British Army officer, criminal and human rights lawyer and former terrorism and war crimes prosecutor, is also a sought after transformational coach and mentor.

A common thread in all her roles is a desire to make the world a better place, to give voice to the voiceless and to lift up those around her so that they may be the best version of themselves.

Taking inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, Rabia lives by the words ‘be the change you wish to see’ in the world.

Having survived a 2005 hostage ordeal in Basra Iraq, Rabia committed to living each day with purpose, to serving others and speaking her truth.

Ordered by the British Military to never speak of how she was taken hostage while negotiating the release of captured Special Forces soldiers, Rabia developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Her brave action for suing the British Government for sexism and racism, against public ridicule, became a catalyst for policy change to ensure a fairer workplace for women and cultural minorities in the military.

Today, she is an Australian ambassador for the United States based Support Veterans Now, Project Peace on Earth as well as several Australian charities. Rabia is a director of the International Foundation for Non Violence and The Museum of Freedom and Tolerance Western Australia.

A keen runner, Rabia, who speaks English, French, Spanish and Arabic, has completed the London marathon and a double marathon in Australia for charity.

Today, we continue the conversation with a red-hot entrepreneur. With her online fashion brand Sirens Swimwear really taking off, her technology platform Try@Home changing the game and her e-com lifestyle-mentoring brand in full swing, you wonder how Bettina McLeod has time to be a single mother of her hearing impaired and autistic son.

We met at a professional development course and this women oozes power and assuredness. Growing up in country town Molong, Australia and promptly telling her Mum that she was headed for the big smoke of Sydney to be a fashion designer kind of gives you an idea of what was to come. Learning her sales and marketing in real estate and then buying her first business by following author Brad Sugars step-by-step approach. I can’t wait to ask her more about this and what happened when she called the infamous Sugars for more advice! She went on to own 15 businesses over the years and so she’s a seasoned veteran who values mentorship and accountability above all!

I love how this woman is not only willing to do whatever it takes to be successful but that she will do the same for others. She stands for other female entrepreneurs being successful too.

Can’t wait to get stuck into it Bettina so we can bring more direction and clarity to female entrepreneurs in particular.

The Goods on Bettina:

Bettina McLeod is a visionary leader who blends operational systems and marketing to better the lifestyle and experiences of others. With an entrepreneurial spark that began at the age of 14, Bettina challenged the status quo by leaving school early and diving straight into business.

She quickly learnt that trading hours for time was not a winning situation, and in order to create the lifestyle she wanted; she would need to become her own boss. This mindset led her into 25 years of business as a multi-passionate entrepreneur before becoming a leader in lifestyle businesses.

Throughout the years, Bettina has built, grown and transformed numerous lifestyle brands. She has a strategist background, loves to problem solve, and is the current owner of 3 businesses; stunning 1950-60s swimwear label Sirens Swimwear, new technology platform Try@Home, and her e-com lifestyle mentoring brand.

As a single mother of a child with special needs, Bettina knows how important it is to create a balanced, automated and fun lifestyle. When she is not working on her businesses, you can normally find her spending time with her son, her partner, investing in herself or socialising with friends.

She credits her success to mentors who have championed her along the way, and believes finding a good support network, as well as making time for self-care is key in business. Her mission is to empower others on a global scale to create a lifestyle business which allows for more time, money, flexibility, freedom, and a purposely designed life.

Today, we continue the conversation with a man who at 22, saw his chance for wealth and jumped at it. Investing his first $35,000 in a property that became $3.5M 9 years later w multiple properties, he did what any other logical 31yr old would do – he retired! Well, sort of.

Chris Gray laughs that his friends think all he does is get on super yachts and take lavish vacations while his wife thinks he needs to slow it down with his countless hours in his Buyer’s Agent business ‘Your Empire’, being a regular columnist for the mainstream media, and his regular stint on the Sky News Business Show “Your Property Empire” – this accountant by trade has decided to turn the emotions of buying property into a spreadsheet that has his clients winning – a lot!

Welcome Chris to our community of dreamers who are definitely looking for ways to fund their dream life…

The Goods on Chris:

As an investment property expert, I teach people how to create wealth and improve their work/life balance through investment property. Many people work hard to pay off their home, or perhaps have just one investment property. I seek to change conventional thinking—and to teach people how to better leverage their income & equity to provide cash flow for their lifestyle. My strategies are easy-to-understand, but incredibly powerful and life-changing for anyone willing to take action. For instance, instead of working overtime, how about leveraging your equity to buy an investment property, and using the rental income to supplement your working income? You could then buy another investment property and switch to part-time work.

My expertise has come from a mix of experience. I am a professional investor, qualified accountant, buyers’ agent & mortgage broker, all of which have contributed to my success in property. But more importantly, I am passionate and have funded my own lifestyle with investment property income for over 15 years. I began property investing at 22 with only $35,000, & turned that into a $3.5m portfolio in less than 9 years. This allowed me to retire from full time work at 31. My portfolio is now in excess of $15m & continues to grow.

I am also the CEO of Your Empire, an independent property consultancy that builds investment property portfolios for time-poor professionals. In my earlier days, I personally taught clients how to create wealth & lifestyle options through investment property. I now better leverage my time by providing advice & strategies regularly through my TV appearances, keynote speaking, my books & the general media. You can also see me at 6.30pm Monday nights hosting Your Property Empire on Sky News Business Channel.

Today, we continue the conversation with a humanitarian. I use that word to define David Wood in its typical use but its so much more than this when I’m talking about him, he is a HUMAN CONNECTING EXPERT at the highest level – HUMAN-itarian!

Growing up in the UK in a very tumultuous environment with his military father who left his Mother for HER best friend, his family became ward of the state and he couldn’t wait to leave school and escape his toxic upbringing. His inner hustler was born as a means of surviving his life. Whether it was raising Guinea Pigs or talking his way into sweeping chimneys or dating older women to help him grow up, he always found a way to move his life forward.

It wasn’t until he traveled to Tunisia w his dart team, decided to not come home but instead bounce around the globe for the next 11yrs, where he turned his ‘perpetual fear knot in the stomach’ into a practice of fearless trust in himself: a deep knowing that no situation was too big or too scary for him. He has since translated that into every area of his life, including leading T Harv Eckar personal development courses, starting his own NM company, building and selling a variety of million $$ businesses, and taking a team up “The Roof of Africa” to summit Killimangero. His life has been full of STORIES that will rock your imagination – and he now focuses on translating that experience to his two teenage sons w his Divinely Divorced ex wife.

Living in Kelowna, Canada on a beautiful expansive property overlooking the lake; he travels half the year contributing to audiences around the world with his trainings, stories and complete and utter ADVENTUROUS spirit.

There really is no one like him. Everyone is his best friend yet I choose to believe that Nat & I get a real slice of him when he comes to our home and warms it up with his love and playful spirit.

What I love most about this man is his genuine love and connection with ALL people. I’ll share this little story about him so our community really gets a sense of how wild and awesome you truly are:

Years ago, Nat & I stayed at David’s Kelowna home and at a local restaurant one night, he started chatting up this couple as we stood up to leave who happened to be dressed in cow costumes – not something you see everyday! (Right up his alley really!) He ended inviting this young couple, who apparently had been traveling across Canada in their car for months, to come to his home for a meal and a shower. He gave them his address and low and behold, the next day they rocked up. So, we order Indian takeaway but not before he invited them to shower in his glorious expansive bathroom overlooking the lake! It was a night to remember as this couple weaved stories about their traveling adventures with us all – I really got the sense that David TS Wood was giving back to the world that had invited him in and cared for him when he had no stable place to lie his head at night!

David, I want to focus on your fearlessness today as I believe there are some key lessons for anyone wanting to live their dream life. But it didn’t start out this way…

Today, we continue the conversation with a man who continues to scrap his way to a more fulfilled and contributory life. Growing up near the Casinos of Vegas with his 5 brothers, I can just imagine what he had to do to survive.

How does a little boy fighting for survival end up at Brigham Young University with a sociology degree, captaining an NCAA Indoor Volleyball title, and being a 2016 Rio Olympic hopeful??

Perhaps, for Casey Jennings, it has something to do w his life mantra: “There will never be a time when your life is not this moment.” Lets find out what has allowed him to navigate raising 3 kids (Joseph (10), Sundance (9) and Scout (6)) while his wife Kerri Walsh-Jennings battles it out on the beach volleyball court for her 4th run at Olympic Gold. It’s as if 3 Gold Medals wasn’t enough J

Today, I want to dive deeper into his relationship w his Champion wife and how he navigates his own lofty dreams and desires while all the while raising a conscious family! What are dreams really made of? Achievements, gold medals, titles, or moments of pure presence, contributing to the next generation w his p1440 innovation, seeing your kids be a source of inspiration in the world. Do we inherently know the value of these kind of dreams when we are kids and then become socialized to make it about achievement or are the visions we have for our life all a mere game of BECOMING??

Let us start the inquiry…

Today, we continue the conversation with a force to be reckoned with on the personal growth scene. Years ago, myself and thousands of others were entranced with his “movement-inspired” videos about a new way to live and love. Through #LovesVoice, he was reshaping the way we look at LOVE’s frequency and who we can BE in relationships.

I became inspired that this Preston Smiles character speak at my company’s annual conference in Australia - as I knew his message needed to be heard by more people. So, without any other way to reach him, I commented on a social media post of one of his videos and…he messaged me straight back. I’m convinced there was divine cooperation at work as next thing you know, him and his electric partner Alexi were sitting on our balcony overlooking the Brisbane River.

Never mind the distance he flew to spread his message to thousands in Australia but this trailblazer is now the author of 2 bestselling books, is a social media infleuncer with over 163K followers and is the founder of Conscious Man Brotherhood and The Bridge Method. Being named ‘Millenial Mentor of the Year’ begins to point to the profound impact him and his wife are having on the consciousness of the planet. Wait till his new twins-in-waiting grace the planet, then, this super-charged FAMILY will surely rival The Incredibles!

Thanks Preston for always being a YES in my life and showing me what it is to truly SHOW UP for when opportunity comes calling…

Meet Preston:

Conscious Businessman, Trailblazer, Personal Freedom coach, experiential Speaker, Social Media influencer, author of Love Louder 33 ways to amplify your life and NOW or NEVER your epic life in 5 steps (both published by Simon & Schuster), founder of Conscious Man Brotherhood, Co founder of The Bridge Method and badass messenger of love, Preston Smiles is a force to be reckoned with on the personal growth scene. Leading cutting edge workshops all over the world with his equally as powerful wife Alexi Panos, winning awards like Millennial mentor of the year, gracing the cover of Inspired Coach Magazine, and Millennial Magazine, and being featured on some of the biggest podcast and shows in the world, such as IMPACT THEORY and School of Greatness, Preston is touching the hearts and souls of thousands of people daily through his social media videos, and provocative writings. As Jack Canfield and Michael Beckwith have called him, Preston is unstoppable.

Today, we continue the conversation with a social entrepreneur – one who likes to push the boundaries, test the validity of the rules and be a non-conformist – and she’s from Switzerland! This woman eats “contrasts” for breakfast!! One minute, she’s dressed up for a speaking engagement in Sydney CBD, and the next, she’s riding her motorbike through on a dirt track in Turkey!

Franziska Iseli’s jump into entrepreneurship began in 2008 with a phone call from her brother Reto in Switzerland where he had to break the terrible news that their 58yr old father had suddenly passed away from a heart attack. She broke down… As she began walking the cliffs of the Northern Beaches, the question that kept visiting her was: ‘If I was to die right now, would I be happy with my life?’ She had to confess that ‘No! I can do better than this, I can make a bigger impact.’ So she quit her career in advertising and started her current company Basic Bananas which is “small business marketing made simple”.

Her main purpose in life is to have an impact, add value and make people smile. Whether its her “Ripple Effectors” brand or her new inspiration “Moments of Humanity” or her upcoming book launching early next year on Courage, this girl continues to challenge the status quo and somehow manages to be a non-conformist who FITS IN!

Thanks Franziska for taking some time out of your day to share the adventures that make up your life so far…

Meet Franziska:

Franziska Iseli sat crossed legged on her living room floor eating breakfast after an early morning surf at Narrabeen on Sunday 17 February 2008 when her phone rang. It was her brother Reto calling from Switzerland. He told her their father had suddenly passed away from a heart attack—he was 58. ‘I have no idea how my brother made that call to me,’ Franziska says. ‘It must have been so hard to share such incomprehensible news with his little sister across the other side of the world.’

Franziska’s world broke down for her. She spent a lot of time in the following months walking along a cliff top on the Northern Beaches. She was soul searching, questioning the way she lived her life. ‘If I was to die right now would I be happy with my life?’ was a question that kept coming up. ‘No! I can do better than this, I can make a bigger impact.’ So she quit her career in advertising and started Basic Bananas.

Identifying a gap in the market

Franziska’s first step in setting up Basic Bananas was to identify a market need. She knew from working in advertising agencies there was a gap in the market for small to medium sized businesses to access marketing and advertising services on a smaller budget. Small businesses are the engine room of our economy and 44 per cent of Australians work in them. But most run on a shoestring and they can’t afford to pay advertising agencies for the marketing advice they need to grow and prosper. Franziska decided to take her knowledge from the corporate sector and a master’s degree in marketing to the small business world by providing entrepreneurs with marketing training and advice.

Building a maverick brand

After identifying a market need and an audience, Franziska set about building the Basic Bananas brand. ‘I wanted a quirky brand that stands out from the crowd,’ she says. ‘Back then I had a really smart business woman as a mentor. When I told her I’d decided on Basic Bananas as the name of my business she grimaced.’

‘No! You’ve got to change it,’ her mentor insisted. She wanted Franziska to choose something more normal, less out there.

‘No way!’ Franziska replied emphatically. ‘I can’t do that. I may not know how to run a business just yet but the one thing I do know is branding and I know Basic Bananas is the right name. It will take a little longer to take off, but it will go really far and create a loyal following. I am going to build a tattoo-wort

Today, we continue the conversation with a women who experienced something so intense yet turned it into the fabric of her gratitudes for life.  Allow me to begin with Nicole Hintz’ written words of the chilling day that shaped the rest of her life…

“Early one Saturday morning, as a 16-year-old, I rode my bike up to the steepest hill to Lyn and Charlie’s house, which I did every second Saturday to clean their house. Lyn and Charlie were a hardworking couple who lived on a farm, so they were very early risers. Lyn gave me a job cleaning her house and was

teaching me how to save. I would clean the house for two-and-a-half hours, completing all items on a list, and at the end she would deposit money into a bank account she opened for me. Together we would then add up how much I had saved. We would also do craft together and sell what we made at the markets on a Sunday.

This particular Saturday morning I arrived at their home, knocked on the door, called out and went inside. There was no reply so I went down to the shed but again couldn’t find them. I returned to the house and called my Dad, who I woke up, and said: “Dad, I can’t find Lyn and Charlie”. We both thought it was strange, but didn’t think much of it. I began cleaning the house; wiping down all the services. I noticed empty bullet shells down the hallway so I picked them all up not really thinking much of it. They were country people, who had parsley crops, and I knew they’d had problems with hares recently, so I just assumed Charlie had gone out hunting during the night and dropped the shells. While I was in the hallway, I noticed their bedroom door half open so I called out again but still there was no response. I peeked around the door and could see they were still in bed. I didn’t think it was normal, but I continued cleaning anyway and I would check on Lyn and Charlie from time to time. I even looked to see if there was movement, which I thought I’d seen at one point.A little while later, Gavin, Lyn and Charlie’s second son, had come home and asked me where his mum and dad were. I said they were still in bed asleep. He looked at me with a puzzled look and went down to the shed and caravan where he lived. More time passed. Gavin came back to the house and asked me if they had woken up. By this time I was a little worried and Gavin appeared to be worried too, so we both went down to their bedroom and opened the door. What I saw that day will remain with me for the rest of my life. I ran to the phone and called my Dad and said: “Dad someone has shot Lyn and Charlie”. Dad told me he’d be there soon - and he was. I don’t think he even got dressed. He was there within what seemed like seconds. He came inside and went to the bedroom, even though I told him not to, and then I remember seeing my strong father buckle at the knees using the walls to hold himself up.

By this stage, Gavin was nowhere to be seen and Dad told me to wait outside for my mother. “I’m finding Gavin,” he said. Mum arrived and she called Triple Zero, but under the stress she couldn’t remember where she was so I took over the call and gave them details. I remember at this stage feeling no emotions. I was in shock and said to Mum, “why am I not crying?”. I told Mum I was worried because I had cleaned up all the evidence and what if the police thought it was me who had done it. I wanted to know why Lyn and Charlie and who would do this to them? They were the nicest and kindest people I’d ever met. The ambulance was first to arrive and I remember the officers coming up to me and saying. “I’m sorry, there was nothing we could do”. I didn’t say it to them, but thought, “no shit, tell me something I don’t know”. I don’t remember too much else of what was going on around me, only that my Dad had taken control and told the police quite firmly that I wouldn’t be going to the police station in the police car with Gavin. “I will take her myself,” he said, which he did.

Today, we continue the conversation with an erotic artist. I know, you can’t imagine me interviewing someone with this resume – but wait till you hear the whole story and you will understand why I had to bring her journey to the light of day!

Anita Nevar taught herself art in 2011 where she achieved international acclaim through various books and magazines, adorned the walls in the Big Brother TV series and was the face of Sydney LGBTQ Mardi Gras. But it was what going on a couple years prior to this that makes it so incredible…

Raised in a cult here in Australia, she ended up marrying a man 13yrs older than her and birthing her two daughters. In 1999, after enduring 9yrs with this abusive man, she rounded up her 3 & 5yr old girls in the middle of the night and bolted from the only life she knew into an UNKOWN world which she’d only ever been taught was EVIL!

So, as a solo Mum, she started fresh and began building a new life. Spending 10yrs with another man and having her third child, she continued to uncover new pieces of herself as she shed the wounds of the past. With her art, she is bold, brash and not afraid to test the boundaries – a far cry from where she came from. I can’t wait to discover how that transformation actually happened…

Thank you my friend for opening up to us all and sharing how it can be possible to completely morph yourself into a whole new person…

Meet Anita the Artist:A visual artist of passion with an affinity for the erotic/retro/pop art world, an obsession with colour and a mantra for 'No Rules'. Anita's detailed work reflects the perfection of the human hand and inspires re-evaluating reliance on digital mediums.

A powerhouse of many hats, she's bold, brash, and not afraid to test the boundaries in the name of art! In front of the canvas, Anita creates seductive timeless pieces to titillate your senses. In front of the lens, she becomes the muse of other creatives capturing the power in embracing our sexuality and skin!

A self-taught artist having achieved international success since humble beginnings in 2001, Anita's work has graced the pages of various books and magazines, was selected to adorn the walls in a Big Brother TV Series, became the face for Sydney LGBTQ Mardi Gras gallery promotions, toured nationally with Sexpo as their resident erotic artist, and exhibited at Oz Kink Fest... amongst other saucy adventures!

Anita's original canvas paintings and fine art reproductions are now popular with savvy art lovers, interior designers, and avid collectors worldwide. Private commissions are also accommodated.

In addition to her exclusive artwork, Anita now has her very own line of perverse merch with the release of her new brand 'Ravenged'. Keep your eyes peeled for a growing collection of saucy arty goodies now hitting the streets!

Today, we continue the conversation with a master business strategist. She has grown businesses to a Billion dollars. She was recently the CEO of a $100M construction company - only to pivot and choose her current social enterprise 90DegreesGlobal. No wonder, she has again been nominated, for the Australian Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award!

Ryll Burgin-Doyle is the accumulation of having started her self-development journey early. This doesn't mean it has been all roses and sunshine for her but rather, that she has taken risks most are too afraid to take and created non-profits like StepUp that create impact in her community and beyond.

She is a force to be reckoned with and I wanted to share her story with you all, namely bc of her resilience and tenacity to continue STANDING when the chips are down and today, to be at the forefront of an organization that is making a real difference in the world!

Thank you Ryll for taking your mini break in the day with us as I know things are in full tilt with your current enterprise…

Meet Ryll:

Ryll Burgin-Doyle started consulting at the ripe old age of 21. Having worked on every type of business imaginable – large or small, start up or established in Australia or the USA over the last 23 years – Ryll has a fire for helping others achieve their visions and financial freedom through their businesses.

She has a particular skill in “creating something from nothing”, in other words, taking what is a concept or an idea and turn that into a living, breathing, funded, successful business, product or service.

She did that – took an idea and made it a reality on her own non-profit, founding and launching stepUP Foundation and brand in 2002. Since that time, stepUP has expanded to 3 countries and so far has made a positive difference to approximately 19,000 teenagers (approx. 42% were underprivileged or at risk), inspiring them about what’s possible in business and in life, empowering them to go after their dreams.

She also took a concept to reality with her own franchise enterprise 10X in late 2007. Established with 3 others to help fund stepUP Foundation and assist Small Business, Ryll successfully built the brand, and the group’s sales and marketing to grow that business to 65 Franchisees across Australia and New Zealand in just 3 years. In 2012, 10X then faced what many fast growing companies can deal with – under capitalisation – and has since been restructured and purchased by a larger Sydney based group, BSI.

Recently, she did the same with a small group of dedicated innovative dairy farmers and related parties in country Victoria Australia, to create and launch a new and premium range of dairy products, starting with milk selling now through 443 Coles stores.

Ryll led that team of Shareholders through the process of alignment, creating the Vision, Intention & Mission of the business, establishing the company’s legal structures, team culture, naming, brand, re-positioning the offering/messaging to make it more saleable, packaging, market research, PR messaging, sales process, tools and sales pitches through to contract negotiation and execution with stock arriving on shelves in approximately 443 stores on October 21, 2013.

In fact, the sales pitches led by Ryll with the farmers were so successful the business had it’s “yes” from Coles within 6 months from a standing start – after just 3 meetings – a result practically unheard of when dealing with the supermarkets.

Ryll also oversaw the Marketing & PR Plan development for the business, including hiring of a great activation team, driving all launch activities and PR generation. Ministers, VIPs and some of the countries biggest celebrity chefs such as Matt Moran, Maggie Beer and others were secured to support the brand, all against the odds – approximately $1.5M in media coverage on mainsteam television, n

Today, we continue the conversation with the bestselling author of “What If? From Death to Destiny”. The thing that makes this book title so staggering is that its her autobiography –describing her unprecedented release of 452 pounds (205kgs) over the last 5yrs. After major medical issues, she was put in palliative care and left to die. She felt that her grave headstone would probably end up reading “Death by Potato Chips” as (quote) “The Pits of my hell had been opened and I proceeded to eat my way in”.

Hailing from Kentucky, USA, she has been featured in ‘Time’ magazine for her incredible body transformation. But she describes in her book that even after three years into her nutritional cleansing program where she had released 400 pounds (182kgs), she was still uninspired – bc she hadn’t yet changed her thinking and had yet to accept that for the past 38yrs, she had been playing a big ‘ol pretending act!

Educated in Clinical Psychology & Behavioral Analysis, I am so curious about a woman with so much knowledge who could still literally eat herself to death from the pain of her past!

Today, we continue the conversation with a woman who has experienced much of what life has to offer. Growing up in Canada, she landed in Australia in ‘98 with $300 in her pocket, yet somehow went on to create, build and scale 7 businesses across 2 countries. Winning awards such as NSW Telstra Young business woman of the year & Small Business of the year, and BRW Fast 100 list for her success; somehow, Andrea Culligan ended up in an Ashram in Cambodia, traveled for 2yrs in India & Bangalore, started a whisky in LA, sang in bars in Nashville and worked with meditation specialists in Vietnam as her retort.

I guess you could call this a version of “finding yourself”. She is now settled into Sydney as Partner within Deloitte Private, where she uses her experience to help fast-growth-scaling businesses limit the risk of failure.

Clearly, Andrea, you pack a punch and I’m so intrigued to find out how you've honed such diverse life experiences into now helping others…

Meet Andrea:

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Andrea arrived in 1998 with dual citizenship, $300 and a thirst to explore.

Since 1999, Andrea has enjoyed a highly engaging entrepreneurial journey. From launching one of the first free email services in Australia in 2000 to creating the largest student jobs board in Australia, to launching a nationally distributed publishing companies, to creating the first nationally operated distribution and logistics business with exclusivity in tertiary education centres she’s had a diverse background with creating, building and scaling 7 businesses across 2 countries (Australia & Canada).

Whilst the highs of exiting 2 businesses, winning the NSW Telstra young businesswoman of the year, the NSW Telstra Small Business of the year, the BRW Fast 100 list and numerous others were rewarding, Andrea’s entrepreneurial career also brought the considerable lows that come with the risk of starting your own business.

In 2014 Andrea took 2yrs to travel the world and rediscover what she wanted to be passionate about. During this time, she worked with meditation specialists in Vietnam, hung out in Ashrams in India and Cambodia, pivoted a business in Bangalore, started a whisky in LA and sang in bars in Nashville and New Orleans and of course did the obligatory trip to Burning Man.

Through this Andrea realised her true passion was for working with fast growth scaling businesses to expedite success and limit the risk of failure. Andrea now sits as a Partner within the Commercial Advisory team at Deloitte Private where she brings her experience and knowledge, along with the power of the Deloitte team to clients from all industries and growth phases.

Andrea also has a thirst for adventure outside of the boardroom and holds licences for most adventures including; car, boat, scuba, freediving and motorbike. Andrea’s passionate about the great outdoors and a great road and has travelled extensively on most forms of transport.

Today, we continue the conversation with “The Cornerman”: remember in the movie Rocky when trainer Micky is in the ring advising the man himself when his life is on the line? Micky had been in his corner for all the ups and downs of training and life so when the pivotal moment in the ring occurred, Rocky knew who to turn to for the most accurate and winning advise. This is who Dr Jeff Spencer is for those who are at the top of their game and want to stay there.

Beginning in a welfare home in the United States; committing, at 10yrs old to attend the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and then achieving it, finding movie producer John Burton as a father-figure & glassblowing artist mentor & later showing his work in NY Galleries; being recognized as International Chiropractor of the year; Winning Tour de France team Chiro & Mental Coach; and 45X Olympic, World, Tour de France, and National Championship Winner – this is no coach, this is no mentor, this is “the man you want in your corner” when you want to win and do it over and over again!

And just when you thought that his clients like Tiger Woods, U2 and Nike would challenge him, its been his daughter Kin who he adopted at 10yrs old from the gritty streets of Columbia who really call him and his wife to a higher game.

Years ago, I had the privilege of acting as Dr Jeff’s proxy-agent which allowed me to showcase his Champions Blueprint systems to the business community in Australia. One of the key things he taught me during that short working relationship was something I still employ to great success to this day: ALWAYS respond to people on the spot (even if I don’t have the answer for them yet – just update them). This may seem like a small thing but as I endeavored to get Dr Jeff on Australian soil and create sponsorship deals for him, there were many inquiries left open ended – rather than update him, I ignored messaging him bc I wanted to have some answers and clear guidance. I felt like silence was better than saying “I don't know yet” or “the iron is in the fire but no response” but Dr Jeff taught me that no matter how busy you are, staying connected is the priority! A huge lesson for me and one that has shifted the way I do business.

Ok my friend, you ready to crack past the start line and get this race underway…

Meet Dr Jeff:

In this case, at the age of 58, it was our daughter, Kin. She was 10 and born into the gritty streets and social jungle of Colombia. The sheer effort and commitment required to make the Olympics doesn’t hold a candle to what it takes to raise a daughter. Kin calls my wife and I to a higher game

With two kids in tow, Cherie Walsh studied in London and created her own makeup artistry business before being struck by the entrepreneurial magic wand of Network Marketing.

Her and hubby of 21 years have weathered many a storm including 2 failed IVF attempts which drained her physically and financially. And then, the 2016 devastating fires in Fort McMurray (Northern Canada) completely altered the course of her and her family’s life: Her husband’s lucrative VP job suddenly became null and void and the family had to came together to “find a way”. Behind the scenes of their now ‘survival life’, something magical was brewing - but I’ll let her share that herself bc its truly a testament to “trusting when there is no reality to support it”.

Meet Alexi:Alexi Panos is a Greek-American television presenter, actress, model, author, producer and philanthropist well known for her appearances as a co-host of SNY's popular sports trivia show "Beer Money".

Early Life Alexi was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to parents Greg and Riana and quickly became a part of the entertainment industry at a young age. Her mother, Riana, who was a model and talent agent, helped Alexi book ads early on for Disney, OshKosh and TJ Maxx and enrolled her in acting and on camera classes.

Throughout schooling, Panos had an affinity for both academics and athletics. She participated in soccer, basketball, track, volleyball, ski club and dance. In school, she was part of TAG (Talented and Gifted program), SWEP (School Wide Enrichment Program) and was a straight A, all honors, student. At 15, Alexi moved to Ventnor, NJ with her mother to pursue a singing career when producer Rodney Jerkins, of Darkchild Records, discovered her during an audition Panos is said to have entered on a dare. While in Ventnor, Alexi enrolled at Atlantic City High School, where she graduated a year early. Her time in NJ was spent mostly in studios or modeling out of the Philadelphia market with Reinhard Agency.

Music When Alexi's mother had a chance meeting with hip hop star Ja Rule in Miami, Alexi was then asked to be a part of the performers new music label, Mi2. At 18, Alexi moved to New York City to continue her work with Mi2. From age 18 to 21, Panos toured the globe with the Murder Inc. performers and was a featured singer on the track "Murder Me" from Ja Rule's "The Last Temptation", released in 2002. She also lent her vocals to the track "Caught Up" from Ja's "R.U.L.E." album, released in 2005.

After her time within the music scene, Panos decided that music wasn't right for her.

Alexi co-wrote a book with her mother called "Watch Me" in 2006, a collaboration about finding the courage and drive to make what you want out of your life.

Alexi has a thriving modeling career with clients such as Kenneth Cole, American Eagle, Levi's, Yeohlee, Burlington Coat Factory, Health Magazine, QVC, Nautica Swim, Miracle Suit, Runner's World Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Oral B, Tide, Modell's Sporting Goods, Ecko, JCPennies, and Grey Goose.

Panos has been a part of numerous television productions as a presenter, however, she is most known for her work as a co-host in SNY's "Beer Money", a sports trivia show, alongside Chris Carlin. In spring of 2011, Alexi begins production on HGTV's "Run My Makeover," an interactive home design show that she is hosting.

During her many roles as host, Alexi found a knack and love for creating and producing on air and web content. She produced the web travel series "Ultimate Quest", and is currently producing several other series for both web and TV.

Panos co founded the non-profit "E.P.I.C." (Everyday People Initiating Change), with friend Tennille Amor, after her music tour with Ja Rule landed her in Africa. It was there she noticed a severe gap in the way people lived and decided to do something about it. E.P.I.C. first project was the Ripple Project, which provides clean, sustainable bore-hole water wells in rural areas throughout Tanzania. The Ripple Project has drilled 6 wells to date, and "E.P.I.C." prides itself on it's grassroots, slow and steady approach to sustainable development. Both Alexi and her partner Tennille stay in Africa each year for about a month to follow up in the villages they drill in with a full hygiene and sanitation program, and stay locally with the people to ensure community cooperation with each project.

In the summer of 2010, "E.P.I.C." rolled out it's Pedals to the People program, where the charity provides bicycles to villages that are far removed from main town centers.

Alexi and Tennille are both Quiks

Selina grew up playing a lot of different sports, but found her passion in basketball and volleyball, quickly climbing the ranks, representing Brisbane and Queensland throughout high school for both sports. She ended up with a dual QAS (Queensland Academy of Sport) scholarship for both basketball and volleyball. After high school, Selina was offered a very rare, Dual USA Division 1, five-year Scholarship at Oregon State University, for both basketball and volleyball, which she grabbed with both hands. In 2000, Selina represented Australia at the Olympic Games in Sydney in Indoor Volleyball. And in 2002 she graduated with a Bachelor of Business, as an honours student. But it wasn’t all roses. Her Olympic dream was destroyed the day before the opening ceremony when she sprained her ankle in their very last training session, and was told by doctors she wouldn’t play. But she did, with the help of the late guru, Peter Brock. Selina battled post Olympic depression. And during the 2011 Brisbane floods, she lost her home and everything in it. For the past 10 years Selina has created and founded 9 businesses, some on her own, some with partners. It has been a massive playground of exploration, learnings and new skill sets. Fast forward, and Selina’s passions and projects today lie in helping our youth build the skills to be more resilient, in which she runs her own Youth Leadership Program. Along with helping people leverage their knowledge online via websites and video courses. She is currently a co-director of a movement called BirthTime, educating women about birth and what is really going on in our maternity systems not only in Australia, but around the world. Selina enjoys the freedom her businesses give her to work from home with her 20 month old daughter, Sienna and soon to be baby #2.

Meet Kari-Lynn:

My husband and I were taught the “right” values of working hard, achieving in school and sports, in hopes of landing high-paying jobs with the so-called security of salary and a pension. We diligently paved our way to achievement, marriage, mortgage, and children. With more and more responsibility … came less and less of what we really desired in our life and with each other: better health, increased wealth, and legacy worth living for. We were chasing an illusion, and it was hurting every part of us. We woke up one day and made a decision to turn around our flagging health … then stumbled through a doorway to personal transformation, and a scalable business opportunity which we built in pockets of our time. We’ve now helped thousands do the same. Because we are all only one decision away from rewriting our future.

And then add in our two teenager children and its our own futures we are now writing…

Mackenzie just turned 16 and is going through high school in British Columbia, Canada. She is a strong member of her volleyball team and recently led her team to a silver medal at the National Championships!

Meet Megan:

Megan is a social innovator, global change-maker, tech entrepreneur and champion for human-centred solutions to complex social problems.

In 2010, after a 25-year career in government, publishing, and international aid and development, Megan’s son was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Through her experience in addressing system-wide change she took on the glaring inequity facing children with serious illness -- isolation due to time away from school. Working inside of the Australian Government, she designed a world-first education innovation that connects seriously ill students to their classrooms through “tele-presence robots”!

She has authored publications on issues of Australian national interest and co-wrote an Australian-first report on school connection for sick kids, generating a PM's statement of support and 160+ media articles. She instigated the first Australian government report on the issue and guided its governance methodology. Megan then moved to designing a world-first education innovation that connects seriously-ill students to their classrooms through telepresence robots.

Megan's experience has forged a strong sense of social justice, she began her career in government and rose through the ranks to become the NSW Finance Minister’s youngest staffer. Her later work in international development saw her spearheading multi-million dollar initiatives to address complex social and development issues across 24 countries. She is an expert on raising funding for large and dynamic innovation projects.

Megan now teaches and mentors changemakers to build enterprises for social good, and has co-founded tech startups in the global development and the assistive robot sector. We got the lucky honor of sitting “incognito” in the back of the room of the "Breakthrough Program for Senior Executives" 10-day business course and we just had to share all the enlightening we received.

We surely couldn’t keep all this high level and leading edge stuff to ourselves…

Reflections from the movie "Boy Erased"
Here’s the description of this movie from a PLOT point of view. We recommend you GO & WATCH before listening to our reflections as we will surely spoil it for you. However, come back to us for the discussion as we were deeply moved and compelled to share what “Being Gay” is according to US!

Plot:Jared Eamons[a] (Lucas Hedges) is the son of Marshall Eamons (Russell Crowe), a successful car dealer and Baptist preacher in Arkansas, and Nancy Eamons (Nicole Kidman), a self-styled hairdresser. He begins his first day at the Love In Action gay conversion therapy assessment program. Chief therapist Victor Sykes (Joel Edgerton) tells the group that their sexuality is a choice influenced by poor parenting. He instructs them to perform harsh "moral inventories" of themselves and their families and requires them not to tell anyone else about what occurs during the sessions. Nancy rents a nearby motel for her and Jared to stay in until he completes the assessment; however, Jared soon discovers that the therapy has no set end point, and may require him to move into an on-campus home if he fails to convince Sykes that he has become straight.

Jared's life prior to entering the program shows him well-adjusted and happy, though he breaks up with his girlfriend upon starting college. Once there, he becomes friends with another student, Henry (Joe Alwyn), and has a brief, romantic, intimate encounter with an art student, Xavier (Théodore Pellerin). While staying the night in Jared's dorm room, Henry rapes Jared and tearfully confesses that he has done the same to another young man. Traumatized, Jared returns home to recover. Henry calls the Eamons' home and poses as a school counselor in order to out Jared and ensure his silence. Jared confesses to being attracted to men. After consulting with other pastors, Marshall signs him up for conversion therapy, to which Jared reluctantly agrees.

Weeks into his therapy, Jared gets to know the other attendees also seeking to become straight. Some, like Jon (Xavier Dolan), are fanatically devoted to conversion to the point where they refuse to even touch other men. Others, like Gary (Troye Sivan), are merely "playing the part", pretending that the therapy is working until they can be released and return to a normal life. At her insistence, Jared lets Nancy read the program's handbook, which is full of questionable psychology and obvious grammatical errors. After failing an exercise, attendee Cameron (Britton Sear) is humiliated by Sykes in front of the group and intimidated with a fake funeral service. Cameron is then beaten with bibles by both the therapists and his own family and forcibly dunked in a bathtub in one of the program's prison-like homes.

Today, we continue the conversation with a millennial who began slogging it out as a bricklayer before having his life interrupted by network marketing. He is now a multiple 6-figure earner after 7yrs with Isagenix in an industry that couldn't be further from his beginnings. It seems to me that today’s guest has invested most of his money in learning and growing himself. At only 32yrs old, Ben Kelly has quite a social media following as I believe he’s not the only one seeking answers for his life. There is a kind of enigma around him bc he stays in his own lane and shares where he’s at with utmost honesty. I look forward to exposing his story to you all of you in hopes that you can see possibility for your own life!

Meet Ben:Ben was a financially crippled bricklayer with large debt along with a debilitating mindset and low self worth as he struggled for purpose with a feeling of very little hope of a better life. He managed to turn that around in 2 short years through a strong desire to learn, grow and find a better way. Now, a multiple 6-figure earner in the profession of network marketing, he leads a movement of thousands around the world. He speaks to large groups throughout Australia, the US, the UK and Asia sharing the lessons he has learned as a millennial.

His successful network marketing business has allowed him, along with his sister Peta to retire their single mother of four “Christine” and alleviate all of her financial burden. Ben loves travelling the world to lead people to their own empowerment, growth and expansion so they can step into greater expressed versions of themselves.

Today, we continue the conversation with a profound spiritual teacher with over 30 years of experience under her “Buddhist robe”. Having spent over 40,000hrs in meditation and silent retreat, sharing space with this Holiness the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu and organizing a UN Summit; she began sharing her knowledge with “Enlightenment and Money” workshops and has now crystalized it with her ascendant mastery programs. Imagine being able to tune your frequency to eliminate such things as procrastination and sabotage…yes please!

Angela has had a major impact on my life. A couple of years ago, we worked intimately together to help me raise my consciousness and start aligning with the dreams I had for my life. Unpacking my past, getting in touch w the little girl who had often been shoved to the side in order to achieve and drive for success; I began to understand me more and wade through the murk that was draining my energy. As I began expanding who I was, other areas began to swell – like my financial barometer, my relationship with my Mom, and my capacity to make an impact in life.

Now, I so want to share Angela with you all. Many of you are on the precipice of new dreams and ideas coming to life and she can help you move into your potential and raise your frequency to align to the visions you have for your life. So, lets get into it…

Meet Angela:

After more than 30 years as a Spiritual Counsellor, 28 years as a student and teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, 40,000+ hours spent in meditation and silent retreat, and working with some of the great Spiritual Masters of our time, Angela knew it was time to bring her next level or work to the world.

Angela has created the ‘Ultimate Prosperity Program’ specifically to help business owners – how to achieve Financial AND Spiritual abundance (Without Compromise). She’s authored 5 books, 5 Guided Meditation CDs and has over 375,000 views on one of her YouTube meditations.

After a few months of retreat in Canada, Angela put together my next level of work ‘Ultimate Prosperity Intensive Master Mind’. Now launched in Australia, these workshops are for the serious Spiritual Aspirant, Spiritual Teachers, and Business Mavericks who are looking to raise their consciousness, deepen their relationship with the divine, and watch all aspects of their life flourish as a result.

Here’s a small sample of what I now teach…

  • How to ‘Dial In’ and ‘REPROGRAM’ Your ‘Electromagnetic Field’ (NEVER before offered in Australia)
  • How to ‘Step Into’ - Your Sovereignty - And Claim The Power Available To You At Birth
  • Step-By-Step -- How to Eliminate Procrastination, Sabotage & Life-Force Drain
  • The REAL Tantra - What It Is - What it Isn’t - And How to Utilise This Ancient Knowledge
  • ‘The Frequency Elevation Formula’ - Unique Tools & Techniques to Tune Your Frequency
  • How to Deepen Intimacy - with Yourself -- Your Loved Ones - And The Divine

Today, we continue the conversation with Australia’s most grounded architects. I proclaim this because I can’t imagine another architect firm in Australia who could sit for 40 days in meditation without uttering a word! Not that Vipassana meditators would ever challenge one another to such a feat, I continue to be astounded by how today’s guest Monika Obrist brings “the breath” to her daily mode of operating.

Originating from Austria, Monika and her husband Erhard (Ed) have been practicing Vipassana meditation for the past 15 years and more recently become teachers of the technique. When they started their architectural firm Refresh in 2010, it was only a matter of time before accolades such as ‘House of the Year’ was bestowed upon them for their NSW beachhouse in 2015. Currently, this couple are creating accessibility by providing housing for people with disability. I wanted to showcase Monika and Ed’s life so our community could see how incorporating meditation into business leads to whole other level of success.

Meet Monica:

Monika graduated with a Masters in Architecture from TU Graz, Austria. She studied architectural influences of Spain at Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona and Mexico at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. After that, Monika worked in architecture and visual communications, perfecting her skills as a designer, while working for several design studios in Austria as well as Australia. In 2010 she co-established R* driven by her desire to combine European design with the diversity of the Australian environment and culture.

REFRESHDESIGN [R] is an award-winning Brisbane based architectural design studio committed to realising finely crafted contemporary architecture responsive to brief and context. We have completed a diverse range of projects including houses and renovations, townhouses and apartments, commercial and hospitality projects.

The R* team is inspired by how architecture can shape a better society by enhancing the human experience. Our mission is to use design as a tool to surpass our client’s aspiration whilst at the same time balancing their intentions to positively influence the environment.

Our work has a strong focus on sustainability, underlined by its capacity to endure. It is contextual, adaptable, harmonious and well considered in the use of space, light, material and technology. Striving for the most meaningful and sustainable solutions, from concept to delivery, in every phase we continue to improve and refine the design until the project is complete.

Our collaborative approach revolves around input from all stakeholders involved, our clients, collaborators and craftsmen. With extensive experience in urban infill developments, the R* team thrives in working on complex challenges. Difficult sites or planning controls motivate us to find alternative solutions to achieve better outcomes, and in doing so to question the conventional.

European and Australian experience as architects and developers has given us an advantage to appreciate the fundamental importance of a project’s economic viability.

Today, we continue the conversation with a man who is up for making the world a better place. Hailing from Massachusetts, I often wonder if the little boy who was finally adopted at 4, could imagine the life of purpose he is now leading?!? As the global voice for men’s empowerment, he specializes in men’s psychology and male-centered healing. Travelling the world delivering workshops to men who are courageous enough to deep-dive on subjects such as identity, power, control, sex, sexuality, relationships, anxiety and even their inner-child; these are the big topics that have traditionally been ignored, especially where MEN are concerned.

Welcome JuVan Langford to our growing community of dreamers. We are attracting people who are ready to take their life on. You are the perfect person to speak to them at this juncture. So, can you get yourself in the energy of “readiness”, with a dose of uncertainty, and a pinch of hope and promise? This is where our troop mainly finds themselves right now!

Meet JuVan:

Before JuVan Langfordbecame a global voice for men’s empowerment, he faced a series of misfortunes. From the loss of his father to Leukemia to his mother’s battle with alcohol and substance abuse, he was placed in foster care, encountered sexual abuse and was profusely bullied throughout grade school. JuVan’s journey, woven with many layers and colors, is a powerful illustration of how tenacity can lead to transformation.

JuVan has since become a lifestyle entrepreneur, high performance business coach and global speaker. A former NCAA basketball player and commercial model, he now supports business leaders and entrepreneurs with building sustainable results in their brands, businesses and life. Granted the key to the city by the honourable Mayor Petty in his hometown Worcester, MA for his contribution to youth empowerment, joining the ranks with other notable honourees including Former President Obama.

Creating Australia’s second largest roast and ground coffee company, our conversation continues today w coffee-barista turned coffee-mogul. It’s a nice sound bite but what we are really interested in is how he took a vision and made it manifest. Nat & I have been drinking Di Bella coffee for years in Brisbane and so when sipping on a much-sought espresso in Abbottsford Road NYC, we really felt the global success of this humble coffee roaster!

His company was recognised in the 2006, 2007 and 2009 ‘Business Review Weekly Fast 100’. Guided by a clear vision that “The greatness is in the detail”, this entrepreneur remained steadfast amongst many critics. His ability to hold a vision was described in the book “Entrepreneurial Intelligence” and I can tell you by all the highlighted portions of Nat’s tattered copy, that this is an intriguing read.

The stamina running through Phil Di Bella has recently been displayed by his incredible feat of losing 70kgs in one year! I can’t wait to find out how he did it and what’s next for someone who has been gunning for his vision over the past 16yrs alongside his wife Gianna and now sold the company.

Meet Phil:
Entrepreneurship is a way of life and intelligence for me, not a title. Every project that I embark upon, my goal is to do it different or better than anyone else. It was this passion and entrepreneurial spirit that led me to start up my first business venture, a small coffee-roasting operation in the suburbs of Brisbane in 2002.

I identified a gap in the coffee market. There was no local coffee company that successfully matched the quality of their products with excellent customer service and a strong brand, all at a reasonable price. This business grew from a start up to the largest of its kind in Australia before I sold it 12 years later.

I strive to make my group of companies matter to customers. I want to ensure that I am relevant in the future am continually looking at innovative ways to do so. I am not limited by my available resources; I am continually looking to fill the void in the market to meet customer’s needs and solve problems.

My mantra is ‘tomorrow better than today’. My goal is to continue building and improving and use our achievements to fuel our momentum and keep moving forward to bigger and better things.

I never rest on the laurels of my success but continue to pursue new ventures through which to challenge myself, and seek opportunities to develop or share my skills. I continue to strive as a leader in my industry and as an entrepreneur, and am always challenging myself personally and professionally whilst ensuring to give back to community.

I know Nat is a little jealous that I get to speak to today’s guest today as she loves engaging with him. Whenever she comes home from a meeting with him, she is uplifted and full of ideas for the future. What a testament to who he is in life: he opens people’s eyes to possibility.

The ‘Conversations Continues’ today with this creative mind who seems to be able to winners and then invest in them. I get the notion that he may have some super powers - can’t wait to find out if there’s a strategy behind it and whether he’ll share it with us or not…

Working in marketing strategy and implementation for the past 15 years, this man seems to marry client and agency in a functional environment where he now leads more than 50 staff!

2018 was a big year for this maestro as he was a finalist in EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Australia, and claimed the Transport & Logistics business of the year at the Optus myBusiness Awards.

Nat & I are so grateful that you are spending some time in our community of dreamers. We have really been delving into the laws of manifestation with our 3-step process that involves cultivating our inner dreamer again, then creating a whole new life story, which then asks us to “Act As If” we’re already living that story, and then Mapping out the plan for that dream. We then adhere it all together with FOCUS.

And now here we are - cannon balling straight into entrepreneurialism.

It was important that our community not get stuck in their heads but continue energising their ideas, visions and dreams to create something tangible into the world. NO pressure, Mark, but you are here to kick their creativity into gear so they begin to see that business is an awesome vehicle to live their dream life.

Meet Mark:Co-Founded and has grown a portfolio of marketing and marketing-related businesses, servicing exclusively multinational FMCG companies. Has recruited and then led high-performing executive teams across multiple business units to achieving annual revenues in excess of $20 million across the group.

Holds a thorough understanding of marketing strategy and implementation, having worked in the industry for the last 15 years and bridging both sides of client / agency divide. Continues to work on multi-disciplinary marketing projects in a strategic capacity, lending experience and insight.

Additionally, has a deep understanding of fulfilment, logistics, international procurement, freight and eCommerce, which has been paramount to success of two businesses within portfolio, including recognition in the AFR Fast100 for three consecutive years (2016, 2017 & 2018), the Deloitte Tech50 awards in 2017 & 2018, the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific in 2017 & 2018, the Smart50 awards in 2017 & 2018 and claiming the Transport & Logistics business of the year in the Optus myBusiness Awards in 2018.

An active VC and advisor, Mark was an early stage investor in the successful Australian eCommerce freight aggregation startup Temando, a pre-seed investor in HR startup Shortlyster, seed investor in international eCommerce startup Hurricane Commerce and seed investor and advisor to manufacturing on demand startup, Disrupt Sports, edutech Startup Vygo and cafe and restaurant aggregator HUM.

In 2018, Mark was nominated and progressed to the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award Finals for Australia.

We continue the conversation today with a former Hindu monk. I just wanted to be able to say that out loud. It isn’t every day that you can say you’ve eaten at a famous beef restaurant in NZ with a vegetarian monk! That was officially our first “date” - haha! I have been enraptured by this man ever since. Bringing forward the teachings of his Guru, he guides and trains entrepreneurs as well as companies who prioritise cultivating and managing energy such as Nike, Trivago, Xero, and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia

And now, he’s a new Daddy. Lets see if we can talk about more than dirty nappies today! He and his wife are creating a 33-acre spiritual sanctuary in Costa Rica and once its completed, we are all invited! Stay tuned!

In the previous episode of “The Nat and Sarah Show”, we’ve been fine tuning our post-step of FOCUS - providing the adhesive for our 3-step process. Without FOCUS, the 3-steps can get left behind, and hence, are not given the opportunity to impact ones life.

Meet Dandipani:Dandapani is a Hindu priest, entrepreneur and a former monk of 10 years. FOCUS is the adhesive that binds the 3-step process. Without it, the manifestation steps get left by the wayside.  Tune in to hear how Sarah & Nat have fine tuned their FOCUS over years and years of training.  Most people recognise that their minds are powerful but have no clue how to start honing in on its power and making it an ally.

The book Sarah mentions during this episode is called “Turning the Mind into an Ally” by Sakyong Mipham

“Many of us are slaves to our minds. Our own mind is our worst enemy. We try to focus, and our mind wanders off. We try to keep stress at bay, but anxiety keeps us awake at night. We try to be good to the people we love, but then we forget them and put ourselves first. And when we want to change our life, we dive into spiritual practice and expect quick results, only to lose focus after the honeymoon has worn off. We return to our state of bewilderment. We're left feeling helpless and discouraged. It seems we all agree that training the body through exercise, diet, and relaxation is a good idea, but why don't we think about training our minds?”

We continue the conversation today with one of the most powerful and passionate women I know. She reminds me of the vintage “spinning top” I bought for my daughter, gracefully twirling around and around all day long in the service of others and then doing it all again the next day.

Standing at the helm of the billion dollar network marketing company Isagenix and named “One of the most influential women in Direct Selling” in 2017, she just doesn’t slow down. With a mission to shift the financial benchmark for families and women in particular, she is a force to be reckoned with. Combining relentless pursuit of excellence with a graceful relational touch, she symbolises “Mother Lion” at its core. Her energy is infectious. She is willing to work harder than anyone else in order to impact just one more life. Even though we live a continent apart, I often ask myself “how would Kathy handle this?” and I’m off and running.

In the previous episode of “The Nat and Sarah Show”, we’ve been discussing this notion of “Acting As If” well before any reality has shown itself. The collective “we” of Nat & I, suppose that there really is no other way to live a new result but to “Act As If” well beforehand…

About KathyIn 1992, Kathy Coover left her career as a dental hygienist in search of a way to spend more time with her family and contribute to others on a greater scale. Kathy went on to become a top earner in three separate network marketing companies, generating millions in income and helping tens of thousands of entrepreneurs achieve success. Remaining focused on her aspirations to positively impact the lives of others, Kathy joined her husband, Jim, and together they co-founded Isagenix. They set out to build a network marketing company that would be different than all the rest, founded on integrity, passion, and collaboration. Kathy is a nationally recognized and respected leader who has translated her personal successes into training and support systems that have helped create physical and financial freedom for countless Isagenix Associates.

‘Act As If’ is step 2 in our 3-step process. You have choice in how you show up.  As Gandhi famously says “A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes”.  Today’s episode discusses not only the science behind “Power Posing” but also the real life results obtained from living this stuff out in the trenches of life!

We continue the conversation today with one of those dynamic men who walks into a room and sparks it to life. I guess it helps when you can walk in saying “I’m ride 293 on Virgin Galactic’s mission to space” and “I ran the London Marathon with Richard Branson."

Quoted as saying that he has brought more than 7 start ups to life. Thank goodness he serves on the Young Entrepreneurs Association, inspiring up and coming entrepreneurism.

It occurs to Nat & I that he has a Midas touch…And I’m here to explore a little more into what that’s all about and how it manifests…

About Rob NixonRob Nixon is not an accountant. Yet he has forged a niche to be one of the world’s foremost authorities on how accounting firms can achieve peak performance.

He is an entrepreneur who has been running successful businesses since 1986. Since 1994 he has been running businesses that specialise in helping accountants run better, more profitable businesses.

Accountants intrigue Rob and over the years he has trained them, consulted to them, coached them, researched them and visited thousands of them. All in the pursuit of what works and what does not work.

His speaking work has taken him around the world where he has spoken to in excess of 170,000 accountants. Currently his products and strategies are used by accountants in over 30 countries. His landmark ideas and strategies are adopted by thousands of large and small firms all over the world.

In 2005 he created the revolutionary coaching model called Coachingclub. The Coachingclub model enabled firms to be accountable, to consistently learn and to share ideas amongst their peers. So far over 800 accounting firms have graduated from his Coachingclub program. The vast majority of firms have doubled or tripled profits because of the program.

He has personally coached 434 firms and helped them add more than $850M of new profit to them.

He is the author of 3 bestselling books “Accounting Practices Don’t Add Up, Remaining Relevant and his most recent book The Perfect Firm“. All have received rave reviews from Accountants and industry professionals from around the world.

Rob is a keen golfer, adventurer and cyclist. He is ticket holder no. 293 to go into space on Virgin Galactic and he lives in sunny Brisbane, Australia with his lovely wife Natalie and 3 children.

We like to call her “Nonna” because she is the Grandmother we all wish we had: classy, graceful, full of wisdom with a loving energy that just oozes out of her.

Leading a team of over a hundred thousand in the business of Network Marketing, and earning 7-figures a year; she knows how to run an organization like a pro.

She has taught me to care about ALL people ALL THE TIME – and she has taught me that through example. She cared and loved on Natalie & I well before she knew our names – now that’s saying something.

The Nat & Sarah Show has kicked off 2019 by talking about some of the DREAMS of our life - and how we have manifested them into existence. I’d love that conversation to continue with you Irene.

You’re a DREAM-ADVOCATE as far as I’m concerned…

A special note from Irene:

"Youth is not a time of life - it is a state of mind.
Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years.
People only grow old by deserting their ideals.

Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair...these are the long, long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.

Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every being's heart the love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars and starlike things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing childlike appetite for what next, the joy of the game of life.
