The the average person who speaks 16,000 words per day, 112,000 words a week, and nearly 6 million words a year cannot formidably explain the word grace. Even though Paul used the word over 100 times in his writings, Jesus Christ never used the word. He did not talk about grace or speak about grace. The gospel of John says it is unnecessary for him to talk about what he is because he is the full embodiment of grace. If you love someone, you don't have to keep saying that you love them. The work that you do and the deeds that you demonstrate let them know how much you love them. Join us in 1 Corinthians 15:9 as we continue to learn and grown together.
John 11:25 states " Jesus said to her I am the resurrection, and the Life:" Often times in seeking to understand something we read through it and try to embrace the things that we know. There are small words in every sentence that connect the meaning of things. Without getting those small words like "and" we will rush right through the sentence. Whenever the lord makes a promise, he has already set up the delivery method in which it shall come to pass. He cannot speak a prophetic word through his prophet, nor a promise and let it fall to the earth. He has set a time by which it will take place. He's saying to his people after chapter 1 of Joel's prophesy that even though the locust have invaded the land, and the land has been rendered infertile, and the leaders are lamenting over the conditions of the land, that HE is still in control. While 99% of pastors around the country are preaching a 2020 sermon, Pastor Keith Norman took another look at 2019. Without evaluation with where you've been, you can't do anything better with where you're going. Most of us didn't get it right in 2018,2017,2016, or many years prior. Before we can ever move forward, we all must take a look back. Paul wrote an evaluation of his own faith while sitting in jail. Paul had things he wanted to obtain and accomplish within his relationship with the lord even in his dyer situation. No matter the situation, you can always talk to God. Whether it has been depression, financial up's and downs, or grief, we ALL have survived something. You are a winner, and a survivor. On Sunday, December 22nd, during the culmination of "Christmas On The Broad", Pastor Keith Norman preached an impactful message titled "I Remember What The Lord Has Done". It is impossible to have a relationship with God without the presence of his word. In 1 Samuel Chapter 7, God sent Samuel the prophet to the people to tell them if they will put down their idols, and return to God, the lord will fight their battles. The only way back to. God is to first acknowledge that you've fallen away. We try to get along without his word, presence, and also without making him a priority. Isaiah chapter 40 stands alone as one of the most hopeful chapters in the Bible. Hope is something that we must hold on to during our most dark and dismal situations. Chapters 1-39 were not very hopeful at all. God told Israel that they would receive punishment for the things that they had done. It wasn't until verse 40 until God says speak comfortably unto Jerusalem. It's good news for us because it reminds us that troubled times don't last always. It reminds us that we can experience low points, but God is the overseer even to the boundaries of our trouble. Join us in Isaiah Chapter 40:1-6 (NKJV) as we continue to learn and grow together. You have permission to hope again.
If you are a born again believer, you have come to expect that you will not have days consistently without trouble. Even in your trouble, God will be right there with you. There will be moments when you win and lose, but if you stay within the safety God's control, he will work things out. There are some things that you can't fully understand, appreciate or comprehend while you in the center of your situation. It is only when you make it to the other side that you will give God praise for the things you survived. It does not matter how much it hurt while you were in it, what you loss while you were going through it, or you feel in the middle it. Recurring physical pains, persistent problems, and consistently petty people are enough to get on anyones nerves. The frustrations that come from dealing with the same problems that seem to never go away can make you feel as if something is wrong with YOU. Old problems can become embarrassing and stagnating. What is it about these kinds things that tend to wear us out? Join us in 2 Samuel 21:15 as we continue to learn and grow together.
During the Discipling Men's Prayer Breakfast, Pastor Keith Norman taught a powerful message entitled "The Discipleship Of An Angry Dude". Have you experienced anger today, within the last 3 days, or within the last week? It is said that men encounter 3 thoughts on a regular basis; money, intimacy, and anger. Psalms 4:4 ESV states "Be angry, and do not sin; ponder your own hearts on your bed, and be silent. Listen as we continue to learn and grow together.
In the African American worship experience, telling our stories of triumph and deliverance is as an important part of the worship as anything that takes place. It is our way of telling God thank you for the everyday things that he does in our life. It is our way of testifying publicly about what God has done privately. All of us have an assignment to fulfill, but sometimes when you're young, people have way of downplaying your ability to get the job done. In order to handle your assignment, you will need determination, proper identification, motivation, and also an expectation of God as you're doing it. When God gave you the assignment, he also gave you gifts to be able to fulfill it.

It is not always necessary to always understand the "how" of every situation. Sometimes we just need to understand that the moment that we are in is a God given moment. If we simply rely on the power of God, HE will give a different outcome on our situation. There are no coincidental passings in the life of Jesus Christ. Where you are on the road and where christ is is all by design. On Sunday, October 13th, Pastor Norman taught Part 2 of the "Can't Stop Won't Stop" sermon series -"Determination To Manage The Moment". What do you do when you know your on the right path, but it seems as if it's taking a long time to get to your destination? On Sunday, October 6th, Pastor Norman introduced the first installment in the "Can't Stop Won't Stop" sermon series entitled "Developing My Determination". In this sermon series, Pastor Norman shared determination is not an easy thing to hold on to. While we are often focused on a journey and destination that has been revealed to us by the voice of God, it is our task to remain focused and determined to accomplish what God will have us to accomplish. The scripture references for this sermon are Exodus 6:1-13 & Exodus 13:17-18
Last night's bible study was a preview of the upcoming October sermon series "Can't Stop, Won't Stop". This subject goes into detail about what personally motivates us to do the will & work of Christ in ministry as well as our personal lives. Where does motivation come from? What generates it? What makes it good or bad? All motivation or ambition is not necessarily a good thing. Sometimes our understanding of what motivates us is completely wrong. On Sunday, September 22nd, Pastor Norman introduced part 4 in the sermon series "It's My Winning Season" titled " I Won Because I Didn't Quit".
If you're going to pursue a Godly victory, quitting CANNOT be your endgame. Whenever we are caught up in anything dealing with Godly discipline, we have to seek the lord and be not weary in our well doing. When weariness grabs us, we begin to look for a way of escape that is not in God's word. People who quit will always wonder if they stayed in the race, what would the results would've been. We have to learn that in order to keep winning, you have to get up and do what the lord is telling you to do. Join us in 1 Samuel 1:19-20 & also verse 26 as we continue to learn and grow together.
During last night's bible study, Pastor Norman gave more insight on Sunday's sermon, "I'm Damaged But I Can Still Win".
We must be able to do two things in the house of God; acknowledge that we have been harmed or hurt and also be able to say that WE have harmed or damaged someone else. Reconciliation and God's love and devotion is for ALL, not just for the person who has been hurt but also for the person who sometimes caused the hurt because they didn't know they were hurting someone.

The secular concept of a winning season is a rise to the top & a claim to victory by defeating all of your opponents in competition.
However, my inspiration if this series "The Winning Season" is to teach principles for waiting on the Lord as He releases us into the plan of life that He has prepared for each of His children. God, through the work of Christ & The Holy Spirit does this "winning" - sanctifying work in the time His own choosing. (read Galatians 4:4-7)
Godly Winning is also the victory of having persevered through various stages of life and maturity that "the Win" we posses may be able to Glorify God Our Father & to become a blueprint of Hope for others. (read Luke 1:5-23 & 1 Samuel30:1-31)
A Winning Season is always preceded by a Working Season.
While we often want to openly declare Our Winning Season, we must never anticipate "a win" without "some work"

Last nights bible study (7.30.19) was the culmination of Pastor Normans "Hot Topics" sermon series. During "The Remix" bible study, Pastor Norman answered questions from text's, emails, as well the congregation on the many facets of forgiveness. "What happens when a person asks for forgiveness but continues in the same pattern?" - "How do we get over our triggers?" - "Am I suppose to forgive and forget?".. Also during our bible study, Pastor Norman also taught 5 quick signs of true repentance.

In our forgiveness model, we must all extend grace and recognize others humanity. Forgiveness is an ongoing growth process from everyone. Follow along with us as continue to learn and grow together.

On Sunday, July 21st, Pastor Norman discussed the importance of self control, and the ability to hold ourselves accountable for our own actions. Self control not only involves conversation, but also our finances, emotions, and personal pursuits. The scripture references for today are Proverbs 25:28 NIV Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control and also Acts 24:24-25 (NKJV) And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
On Tuesday, July 16th, Pastor Norman kicked off Vacation Bible School with a lesson on patience. Patience is not a virtue to be achieved, but a character trait to be received. Patience is the ability to suffer-long, endure & wait (accept delay without complaint & disruption) while exemplifying the character of Christ.
