Courage is moving through fear. Find courage in whatever you do and see yourself thrive and live freely. Welcome to the podcast that talks about ways to have courage on and off the mat. My name is Allan, and let's walk the path of courage.
Until now, society expects man not to look or appear weak; he has to be steadfast and strong. Watch, listen and enioy as I caught up with a highschool classmate and shares about his friend's mental health.

Lately, the world is abuzz with celebrities and personalities talking about how they handle their mental health. They forgot how they use "wellbeing" and "mental health" as an excuse of their misbehavior or their unprofessionalism, to get what they really crave: attention of the whole world. They rob the reality of what others dealt through before regular individuals decide to seek for professional help. Social media being sugar coated by having celebrities pasted alongside mental health conditions when in fact, they are just using it to stay afloat and relevant. Chime in and share your experience, join the poll!

So we know that self-care is valid but can be temporary, what are the wellbeing practices that we can do in order for us to sustain our wellbeing or our happiness? There is breathwork, movement (through yoga), connection and compassion. On this episode, we remind ourselves how we can be compassionate to ourself first before making time for others. Let's look at external situations as situations and not as obstacles; more of this inside.
Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/movingthroughfear/message
Have you ever thought what would happen if you could not get that thing for your self-care? Or did you get ever upset of not being able to do a self-care routine? Ever thought that maybe you're addicted to it and no longer works as a "self-care" routine?
Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/movingthroughfear/message
What are the effects of self-care and what could be the harmful effects of it? How do you find work-life balance if you are working on your passion? These are the things that I try to answer in today's episode. Join in the discussion.

Courage, from the root word cœur or cor from French and Latin. In Sanskrit, shaurya or surya that is related to sun, our source of vitality. In Filipino, it is literally translated to lakas ng loob.
The main difference between brave and courage is with the heart. The latter moves through fear while being brave is a trait that is unique to some individuals and that is remarkable.
Ever since I started this podcast, I have been showing up and spilling my truth; wearing my heart on my sleeve even though the world does not really know about me.
And just like living in this pandemic, yes it's 2022 we are still in it. I started this podcast May 2020 and look where we are. That is why courage is my thrust for this year and that has also been my mantra and how I work as a yoga teacher, a fitness coach and as an individual.
This podcast my dear listener is changing...from Allan's Ray of Light to Moving Through Fear. Notice how the two words: move and fear are on different sides of a spectrum. And yet there's "through", that is courage I believe.

When we talk about being aware, it all starts on our infancy and we formalize our thoughts, emotions and actions when we enter formal education. But that is being self-aware, there is a difference from self-actualization. And while some would say they have reached that, I think it's more of an inflated self-esteem. The ego is there but still survival and basic needs are just being provided giving this temporary feeling of fulfillment or success because it is what the society was built. Self-actualization is deeper, a look within, more than the physicality and of the world, but what you are and what you have become.

I considered the claims and what others say as seeking the truth. To me COVID-19 is real, is here to stay and to respect oneself and others, not just because of my livelihood but because practicing ahimsa is not just to protect and look after oneself; ahimsa is non-inflicting of pain to others--that is why I urge you to get vaccinated.

What is more attractive than seeing people sympathize with our being wounded and we create this form of escapism because it empowers us right? While we enjoy the attention because more people can relate to it, we forget that we do not move on and we even cut ourselves deeper with this self-infliction. So how do we move on from this projection?
