Victor and Peter were at the 2023 NHL Draft in Nashville. This is the second part of a two part series, part one was shared on the Fantasy Hockey Life Podcast. Shane Wright has made the NHL with the Seattle Kraken, or has he? He has only played seven of Seattle's first 13 games and is playing less than ten minutes a game when he is dressed.
If he is returned to his junior team, the Kingston Frontenacs it is safe to assume he would be traded to a contending team.

Pete Krupsky is the voice of the USA National Team Development Program and he joins the show to talk about this years bumper crop of 2022 NHL Draft eligible prospects.
The 2022 Draft overall may not be the best, but the NTDP crop offers plenty of depth, and is right there with the outstanding 2019 draft class that saw Jack Hughes, Alex Turcotte, Trevor Zegras, Matt Boldy, Spencer Knight, Cam York, and Cole Caufield all drafted in the first round.

Kingston Frontenacs TV Host Allan Etmanski joins Peter to talk about the Kingston Frontenacs star players.
Shane Wright headlines the episode as the top prospect available for the 2022 NHL Entry Draft coming up in Montreal. Montreal will host the draft and owns the first overall selection. Shane Wright has been the top ranked player from the start of the season but had a season of scrutiny and some have him losing the first overall ranking.
Peter and Allan saw plenty of Shane Wright in his two seasons of OHL hockey and share their thoughts on his play this season, his NHL and fantasy upside and the comparisons to Patrice Bergeron as well as what he and Sidney Crosby have in common.
Other Frontenac players bound for the Draft discussed include Paul Ludwinski who had a breakout playoff. His performance in the two rounds the Fronts played in has moved him into Peters second round rankings.
Lucas Edmonds had a breakout season for the ages as a 20-year-old rookie/over age player that is still draft eligible. Edmonds lead Kingston in scoring and was just shy of the OHL league lead in scoring.
Besides the draft eligible players, Kingston also has several NHL drafted prospects. Allan and Peter compare notes on the following players and discuss their NHL upside and fantasy relevance. DobberProspects Russian scout Dylan Griffing joins the show to review the Russian roster for the 2021 World Juniors.
Jaroslav Askarov could see every start for Russia as arguably the top goalie in the tournament.
Perhaps the weak link if any on the Russian roster could be the defense. The highest-drafted prospect on their defense is Shakir Mukamadulin (20 overall in the 2020 first round)Â
But Dylan pegs either Semyon Chistyakov (Nashville) or Daniil Chayka (2021 Draft) as their best player on the blue-line.Â
The top name at forward is Vancouver darling prospect Vasili Podkolzin, but both Peter and Dylan are not as bullish on him as most and explain why. Prospects to watch from the Russian forwards include Rodion Amiriv (Toronto), Marat Khusnutdinov (Minnesota), Yegor Chinakhov (Columbus), and Dylan names a great sleeper to keep an eye on.

Marco Bombino guests to preview Team Finland for the 2021 World Juniors.
It comes as a surprise to Peter and Marco that 2021 NHL draft top prospect Attu Raty and Carolina prospect Patrick Puistola failed to secure roster spots. Both would have been returning players.
Finland will look to 18-year-old Joel Blomquist to secure the starting goalie position. Marco gets Peter up to speed on the two backup options in Kari Piiroinen, and Roope Taponen.
A pair of Toronto Maple Leaf prospects will help lead the defense in Mikko Kokkonen, and Topi Niemela. They will be supported by Jets prospect Ville Heinola. Keep an eye on Florida prospect Kasper Puutio, and undrafted prospect Ruben Rafkin
Anton Lundell will drive the offense upfront and should be flanked by Roni Hirvonen and Kasper Simontaival. A sleeper to watch for could be Nashville prospect Juuso Parssinen who Marco feels could be the second-line center between Sens Roby Jarventie, and 2022 top prospect Brad Lambert. All eyes will be on Lambert as he could be the first Finnish player selected first overall in NHL Draft history.
McKeen's European scout Jimmy Hamrin joins the show to preview Team Sweden for the 2021 World Junior
Hugo Alnefelt will return as the potential starting goalie, but Jimmy believes 2021 draft prospect Jesper Wallstedt may win the job by the end of the tournament.
Last year Sweden had a loaded defense with six NHL first-round drafted players. Â This year the group will be lead by Victor Soderstrom and Philip Broberg. Detroit prospect Albert Johansson is a fast-rising prospect Jimmy says to keep an eye on.
In fact, the Detroit Red Wings have five prospects on Team Sweden
Lucas Raymond, Gustav Berglund, Theodore Niederbach, Elmer Soderblom and Johansson.
Noel Gunler who was the big omission from the team last year will be one of the big guns on forward along with Alexander Holtz and Lucas Raymond. Jimmy expects Niederbach to be the first-line center.
Sweden has named six undrafted players to the roster, Jesper Wallstedt, Alex Brannstam, Ludvig Hedstrom, Oscar Bjerselius, Oskar Kvist, Oskar Olausson, and Jonathan Wikstrom. Listen to the episode as Jimmy gives his take on which ones will be drafted, who has fantasy upside, and who does not.

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button returns for episode 97, the 2021 World Junior preview of Team Canada
Canada may not have a superstar goalie with Taylor Gauthier, Devon Levi, and Dylan Garand as their goalies, but Craig is confident in their abilities and their previous performances with Hockey Canada have been strong.
The Canada defense is lead by two stars and returning Gold Medal Champions in Bowen Byram and Jamie Drysdale. Listen to how Craig ranks the remaining six defenders.
The strength of the team is upfront as Canada has 14 NHL first-round picks upfront. The balance and depth Canada boasts upfront will make them such a hard team to not only defend against but to win puck possession from.

If you need to rebuild your fantasy hockey team, this episode is about the strategy options you want to use.

Scorched Earth: (2-3 years) - Your team is a dumpster fire! You have no quality long term assets, sell everything for draft picks, prospects and futures

Owning your own draft picks is essential - Don't get stuck in "Futures mode". If you have been rebuilding for five years its not a rebuild, you just suck.

Rebuild: (1-2 years) - Two to five players that are the core of your roster and should be valuable for the next five years. Look to fill holes in targeted and identified weakness or opportunities. Sell off players 30+ years old for futures, or trade 50 point players for 60 point players that are injured for season (Dougie Hamilton)

Retool: (1 year) - Good team having bad year, bad luck. Sell two or three players for great futures to make next year or next few years even better. One step back, two steps forward.
Three ways to acquire players:

Trade: Target opportunities to acquire players that will help you in future and for teams that can use what you have to offer. Trade can be risky, you have to give to get and in a rebuild you are offering established payers for prospects or picks that may not pan out. Trading a 80 point player that is 30 for a prospect that does not pan out can be devastating. Try to get multiple assets in return to ensure you have some long term value

Draft: Target blue-chip prospects in the early draft, even if the wait time is up to five years. Mid round look at either boom or bust prospects, or players with a short ETA such as free agents from NCAA or Europe or over age draftees.

Free Agent or Waiver Wire: Best time to acquire top assets here is early in the season as players have breakout performances, exceed expectations etc. Requires some homework but well worth it if you catch wind of this seasons breakout rookies before the competition.

2020 World Junior preview of Team Canada with special guest Steven Ellis of The Hockey News
Steven and Peter review the Canadian roster, the outlook for the tournament. There are questions in goal and more cuts still to come but Canada may be an underrated team this year and may rally around the under dog, us vs the world attitude.
The two top players for the 2020 NHL Draft will play for Canada in Alexis Lafreniere and Quinton Byfield. Will playing together tip the balance one way or the other as to which player is selected number one?
Who will emerge as Canadas goalie? Guelph star Nico Daws has come from nowhere, can he run with it?
The defense will be lead by two studs Bowen Byram and Ty Smith, and will have another 2020 Draft eligible in Jamie Drysdale, possibly as the seventh defenseman.
Late additions released to Canada to help bolster the forward depth include Barrat Hayton (Arizona Coyotes), and Joe Veleno (Detroit Red Wings) and gives Canada a massive boost.

2020 World Junior preview of Team Sweden with guest Jimmy Hamrin of McKeens hockey
Jimmy and Peter review the Swedish roster, will this be the year they win a Medal round game, or lose a round robin game?
With a big question mark at the center position, and Peter has big questions about the goaltending that Jimmy answers, there is no question this teams strength is its defense.
Leafs prospect Rasmus Sandin leads the D along with Nils Lundqvist and three top 18-year-old prospects in Philip Broberg, Tobias Bjornfort and Victor Soderstrom.Â
Perhaps the most interesting story line to follow on Sweden this year will be the play of two top 2020 draft eligible prospects in Lucas Raymond and Alexander Holtz who will both be top ten picks for sure.

2020 World Junior Preview of Team Russia with guest Viktor Fomich.
Viktor and Peter review the Russian roster, a annual Medal contender in the tournament and that they look to be a contender again.
Draft eligible goalie sensation Yaroslav Askarov will compete for the starting role in goal, which will be a challenge as Head Coach Valeri Bragin has favored the older players in the past.Â
The Russian defense will see the return of last years star Alexander Romanov, a Montreal Canadiens prospect. Philadelphia Flyers free agent find Yegor Zamula is poised to play a prominent role as well coming from the WHL.
At forward, another player coming from the CHL is Alexander Khovanov who dominated for Russia in the two CHL vs. Russia games in the Q. He could be the number one center. Another returning player that dominated with Russia last year is Grigori Denesinko and he will be looked upon to carry the offensive load fro Russia.

Jokke and Peter review the Finland roster, if 2020 Draft eligible prospect Anton Lundell will have a spot or not and what impact that may have.
Aatu Raty will be a player to watch as he currently projects to possibly be the first overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, and would be the first Finnish player in history to accomplish that.
One breakout potential forward to watch is Matias Maccelli who has had a monster season as an 18-year-old in the Liiga and already has two years of experience in North America.
Another question mark for the forward roster is Carolina prospect Patrik Puistola who is currently injured but is expected to go.
Peter and Jokke review the top pairing on defense in Ville Heinola and Lassi Thomson as well as the depth players to watch.
Perhaps the best player to look for is in goal with Justus Annunen who has been crazy good in the Liiga this year and is about to become a household name for Colorado Avalanche fans
