God has ordained three institutions, each with its own God-given role. When one institution usurps the other two - it's a spiritual battle!
God has given us his armor to stand firm against the devil. Paul explains it in Ephesians 6:15-17.
Paul now writes to us to walk in victory. How? By using the armor of God! Ephesians 6:13-14.
Paul tells us that we are to submit to one-another. What does that look like in our jobs? Paul answers it in Ephesians 6:5-9

God moves us from childishness (ignorance of His ways) to righteousness by revealing Himself to His children. The second time the Israelites complained, they have gone from childishness to rebellion. A great message for us to keep moving forward in our faith by trusting God instead of grumbling!
In Exodus 14, God purposely hemmed the Israelites into a cul-de-sac to bait Pharaoh to come after them. We also can get hemmed in when our old slave master ( our old sinful nature) wants us back and chases us down. But God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites to escape, and God gives you a way of escape too.
In Exodus 7 thru 10, we discover nine plagues that deal primarily with God showing both the Hebrews and Egyptians that the gods of this world are false, empty and worthless. 3 points jumped out of the text at the 30,000 ft level.
Exodus 6:1-13; Moses doubts God's goodness & promises; God gently rebukes him and let's Moses know that He will keep His promises.
In Exodus chapter 5, Moses is surprised when God's children suffer and he blames God. He accuses God of not keeping His promises. Young children are surprised when a Jack-in-the-box pops up; people young in their faith are also surprised when suffering pops up in their lives.
Moses in Exodus 4:18-31 is still suffering from his crisis of faith; in this text is revealed 5 steps to come back to God.
Moses is still struggling with his failures and self-focus; When God calls him to go to Egypt in Exodus 4:1-17.... he doesn't want to go.
Moses is not sure of God's command to go back to Egypt; Moses learns it is not about himself, it's about the great "I AM"!
Moses finds a burning bush in Exodus 3:1-9. God, up until this moment has not revealed that much about what kind of God He is, but He declares 3 powerful attributes to Moses through the burning bush that answers the haunting question everyone asks: Does God care about my suffering?
Moses flees Egypt feeling like a failure. God will do 6 things to him in the next 40 years to untie the knots in his soul so that he is useful to God. We learn in God's power structure that failing doesn't make you a failure!
In Exodus 2:11-15, Moses hears God's calling on his life, but determines to be a deliverer in his own strength. Great lessons to learn for our lives today from Moses!
In Exodus 2, God's people have to make a choice; submit to the new cultural powers or stand against them.

Paul shares the secret of being content in spite of his circumstances in Philippians 4:10-13.
In Philippians 4, we are promised the peace of God and then the God of peace to be in us and with us. This is the 3rd way Paul describes standing firm in the Lord... that you must think, and you must think on the things of God V8-9.
Philippians 4:4-7 is the second way Paul describes to "stand firm in the Lord in this way" - it's about rejoicing in Jesus!
Paul describes the incredible joy of getting Jesus.... he lists 5 wonderful treasures in Philippians 3:8-11

Paul has just written to us to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling" and then goes on to say that our obedience must be free of grumbling and disputing.
Philippians 2:12-13 How are you transformed? Paul says we work out our salvation yet it is God who works in us for HIs good pleasure. So which is it?
In Philippians 2:8-11, Paul continues to use Jesus as an example for us, to see that God will lift us up, gift us, honor us..... all to the glory of the Father!
Paul gives us an illustration of what it means to count others as more significant than ourselves in Philippians 2:5-8.
Paul gets real practical in Philippians 2:1-4. Selfishness destroys joy, but joy comes through unity!
Philippians 1:27-30 Paul tells the Philippians whether he comes to visit them or not, there's only one thing that matters. One thing.
Philippians 1:18-26. Paul is going to mention five things that give him (and us) great joy in the midst of trouble, sorrow or pain.
We know how babies grow or plants or businesses. But how do Christians grow? Paul, in his prayer for the Philippians, outlines how to grow as a Christian. (Your Joy is connected to your spiritual formation.) It's not complicated, he tells us in only 3 verses!

Jesus in Matthew 7:1-6 talks about judgment and discernment. This politically incorrect sermon will help clarify the difference between grace and enabling people to stay in their rebellion.
In Matthew 8:1-17 Jesus healed the unclean, the unworthy, the unpretentious and the unhealthy... all the kinds of people from our culture that are disregarded and not thought well of. His compassion knows no limit!
We worry more than we let on. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:24-34 that Kingdom living is to have no worry. Can He empower us to do it?
Jesus tells us how to live in His Kingdom while we are still living on earth; in this part of the Sermon on the Mount we deals with the pursuit of materialism.
Matthew 6:5-8 talks about how God wants authenticity from His people, not religious rituals.
Jesus says we are salt and light when He is living inside us... and that is how we impact our world
Beatitude #7 - Blessed are the peacemakers. A large part of Kingdom living is amending & restoring the relationships that you have broken. Whether you are the one that has hurt others or if you're the one hurting... be like your heavenly Father - a peacemaker.
Jesus tells us that the first step to building & restoring relationships is getting right with God in Matthew 5.
Watch the heart of Jesus between 2 connected but opposite events in the book of Mark. Through these polar opposite events Jesus demonstrates how to build and restore relationships.

Jesus has a "Come to Jesus" meeting with the religious leaders and tells them plainly who He is, the Son of God.
The first recorded words of Jesus in the Gospel of John is towards two men that are following Him. He turns and asks them a powerful clarifying question: What are you seeking? What kind of Savior are you looking for? One that you want or the One that we need?
God's story of redemption collides with our stories when God entered our world to invite us back into fellowship through His Son Jesus.
Sometimes we forget that God cares more about our relationship with Him more than we do. We can start relating to God out of habit and lose our closeness with Him. So He sent Malachi the prophet to the nation of Israel and us today with the same message.
In the beginning - God. It's His story about His great love for you and what He is willing to do to get you back with Him.
God begins to fulfill His promise of providing a Messiah by revealing Himself to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob... and to begin building His nation that will bring forth Jesus.
God allows Joseph to endure betrayal, hardships and rejection, but he becomes the savior of the known world. Sound familiar? No matter what Joseph goes through Scripture tells us that God was with him.
Mark 6:53-56 pointedly tells us that Jesus is our healer... and this message reveals that He not only can physically heal us, but Jesus heals our emotions, relationships, our spirit, our attitude and our thinking.
People think they know who Jesus is and people think they know what the Gospel is... but maybe people have become so familiar with both that they really can't see either. In Mark 6:1-6 Jesus is rejected because His hometown thinks they know Him... but they don't.... and the same thing is still happening today.
We can put our trust in Jesus; He will never disappoint. In Mark 5:21-43 Jesus heals (raises) two polar opposites (a somebody and a nobody) and then heals one indirectly and one directly. We all fit somewhere in-between these extremes which gives us hope.
In Mark 4, Jesus is fast asleep in a boat when a storm nearly kills everyone on board. We all have storms in our lives that try to take us out... how are we to handle them without drowning?
Jesus shares in Mark 4:1-20 the need to examine one's heart. An unexamined life can lead to a hard heart, a shallow heart or a weedy life... and the consequences of them.
Jesus changes us to become a new creation and Paul tells Titus how that is accomplished in Titus 2:11-14
Based on Mark 3:20-30, people only have three options about Jesus, but only one is true.
Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees over His disciples "working" on the Sabbath. Are you in bondage to the letter of the law, or have you been set free by the spirit of the law?
Mark 3:1-6 You do the right thing, for the right reason regardless of the consequences.
