Not only do you save money, but you’ll cut down on using nasty chemicals that might be an irritant or danger to you or your family, but also you' won’t need to throw anything out again. My own bathroom/kitchen spray cost me less than $3USD and I make more simply by acquiring lemon skins and buying a bottle of vinegar!

Can fast fashion be green?
Fast fashion could be green and sustainable with the environment, economically and socially to support jobs and industries. The big brands, which have the resources, shall make a change.
Who made my clothes?
Human rights are a pressing issue in fashion industry. Agnes, from fashion industry, revealed that she was tremendously shocked in a business trip to a factory in Bangladesh. The factory was owned by an army general and protected by armed guard. Actually, it turns out that a large part of factories in developing countries are run by the army who can exert tight control of their workforce. While visiting, Agnes saw no light into the working women's eyes, they were desperate and had no choice than to comply. The workers, even though working extensive hours, received a meagre salary. What industry and consumers can activate to lower the impact toward the environment?
Industry – Keep inventory level low Go for good quality
Limit the product variety. During the design process, samples are developed in full color range but only a few colors are chosen in the end. Virtual reality design is a promising approach towards that Stop bringing new materials. Instead, let's use what we have now and keep it circular Bring new solutions to the market : compostable clothing is a very interesting concept to explore Consumers – Spread awareness - the general public is not aware of the problem Shop second hand Clothes Rental Research and out reach the companies to ask questions Organic cotton is inspected loosely.
Instead, you may want to opt for natural fibre Buy what you need/ not what you want Keep in mind the impact of switching for other materials.
For example: Stop buying either real fur or faux fur. Faux fur, even though kinder, is made from polyester which has its own challenges.

From the $1785 saved since November 2018, $1350HKD from lowering my contribution ($172USD) and $435HKD came from using the solar battery ($55USD)

Total - $1023USD to recoup
But so far I’ve paid off $230USD from $1023USD in ten months. The initial projection was to pay everything off in 4 years.
YOGHURT MONEY SAVINGS
$800 a month ($100) was the normal amount I’d spend on store bought yoghurt. I bought the Level yogurt maker for $855 ($112).
August yoghurt cost me $1008HKD ($129USD)
September yoghurt cost me $450HKD ($58USD)
For 2 normal months assume a maximum cost of $1600HKD for yogurt. These past two months it has been $1458HKD. While only a saving of $140HKD, the next month will the second full month of making yoghurt on my own with further refinements to the process. I expect to pay off the yoghurt maker in two months.

I explain in this episode how I’ve begun to make my own yogurt so I can stop throwing yogurt pots into the plastic recycling that aren’t really being recycled. I break the episode down by looking at what I’m replacing the store bought yogurt for, what is actually being thrown out, which yogurt maker did I buy and why and lastly, how much money am I saving?
Originally I was spending $100USD a month on store bought greek style yogurt. Now I’m aiming to save by buying the milk and some yogurt to use as a starter culture.

8 batches (possibly) in a month $9.40 x 8 = $75.20 dollars
TOTAL: $79:80 a month
Currently a 20% saving which I’m hoping to reduce even further by shopping around for the milk that is on discount often.

The interesting points that were raised during the talk:
By growing their own gardens with Rooftop Republic, people reconnected with food and developed an intimate relationship with the fruit and vegetables that they were raising. This is a crucial link that we lost by not being involved in the farming process in our urban jungle. We believe that all produces on shelves are just getting there automatically without seeing the farmer’s efforts and nature’s work to get them there. By getting more aware of that, we can treat what is in our plate with respect and waste less.
We Use witnessed consumer switch from convenience to getting engaged on their events’ impact. Enabling them to clear up their events location with minimum waste by providing them re-usable materials that they need offers optimized zero waste impact with convenience for the operator. From the mind of the organizers, looking for a change in the way they were operating, it is now rippling to consumer mind set who understand the need for a change that matters by bringing and using re-usable utensils instead of single use items.
At the end of our plate lifecycle, HK Community Composting is doing more than diverting food waste from the landfill. We may see them as waste but food scraps and waste are extremely valuable. Apart from landfill diversion, getting them composted brings powerful and much needed nutrients to our soils and will help them to grow more quality products in the next harvest. Compost is an asset and our waste should be treated with due respect, that’s what circular community is all about.

In this episode I share with you the fact my cat Milo died, I wanted to do an episode on pet ownership as I was in the process of always trying to look after Milo in the easiest way to my wallet as possible. Now that he’s died, I’ll be making just this one episode with helping to save you some money.
We cover all of the cost reduction techniques I employed while looking after Milo, toilet flushing and the dangers with doing so, flushable cat litter, buying more meat instead of treats.
Money Saving Tips
Buy in bulk, if not to get a discount, but to save on fuel costs and on doing a repetitive task.
Have a large glass jar handy and pour as much cat food into it and seal the bag it came in. This is to open large bags as few times as possible.
Flush your pet waste where possible.
Buying a toilet trainer for you cat is going to save you the most possible about of money.
Stop buying treats, on a per kilo basis its cheaper to buy tinned meat.
Don’t buy a cat or dog, look at alternative ways to find companionship. Visit a pet cafe on a regular basis.

In this episode I share with you another product which is definitely going to save you some serious money. The Eco Egg.
For me, as a single guy I used to spend roughly $60USD (£48) a year on washing powder that came in a non-recycable box. With the Eco Egg purchase, I’ve just spent $32USD (£25), but get this, the amount I purchased lasts for 3 YEARS! So that’s under $11USD a year!
I went from an estimated $195-$260USD over three years, to just $32. Can you save more if you have a family? I’m sure you could, easily. Then think of the amount of less waste you’re not making.

In this episode I sit down and explain a fantastic product which could potentially save you a stupid ton of money off your water bill. It is a simple water attachment to your tap (or faucet) and reduces the water flow by 98%. That reads as extreme, but Altered Company, the company that makes it says so themselves.
Having used the Nozzle for the past few months I thought I’d share my successes with the product and then go into some of the major criticisms levelled at it by reading the Amazon reviews and temper your expectations before purchasing it because of its ‘extremeness’.
For example plenty of complaints are directed at the Nozzle’s ability to ‘leak’ or ‘takes longer to wash one’s hands. In share how it can take some adjustment (plus not everyone is a plumber) and basically patience is a virtue, even though it doesn’t take me longer to wash my hands or face. The subjectivity and consideration of your own habits need exploring and this is what this podcast tries to do.
The Nozzle will change habits and while there can come with it a period of discomfort, I argue there is worse discomfort down the road if we don’t do something about our consumption habits today.

A quick aside about our consumption of coffee (not beer) away from the home. I keep a mug in my local coffee shop and no longer drink out of plastic cups. The plastic lining isn’t easily recycled and you’re ingesting elements of heated plastic in the process. I also don’t get a coffee to go, I feel I should sit down and take the time to relax while drinking some of the black.

TLDL?: Drink your coffee in your favourite mug or flask when out and about, consider the effects of the the normalised practise of ‘coffee-to-go’ and its harmful impact on the environment.
TIPS:
Bring your own mug/flask, and get a discount to boot.
Consider drinking your coffee in a coffee shop (make sure to ask for it in a mug).

TLDL?: You’re paying for electricity even if you turn things off. I didn’t even know this. Want to save some of your hard earned money? Then unplug everything you don’t need. except the necessary power switches you can set up to alleviate the inconvenience of having to turn everything on/off repeatedly.
In the process you’ll be saving money on your utility bill with a bit of planning. It can range from 5% to above 10% depending on your house hold set up.
TIPS:
Unplug everything you’re not using (at the moment, I only have a fridge, wifi [only during the day] and a kitchen power strip attached to the mains).
Charge your devices during the day and not over night to save electricity.
Utilise power switches to make turning on and turning everything off easier.
(OPTIONAL) Purchase an Electricity Usage Monitor to get the wattage with your devices when on standby or “turned off”.
