My presidential prognostication skills take a hit
So Mayor Pete Buttigieg has dropped out of the race. What does that mean?
Well first and foremost, it means for the first time my presidential pick, that I do the New Year’s Eve before the election, almost 11 months ahead of time, has missed so badly I will not even have correctly picked the parties nominee.
So where did I go wrong?
I mean 14 months before Donald Trump won, I predicted him before anybody in the GOP figured out he would capture a big enough slice of the elecorate. I got -- what eventual Trump voters were thinking.
So What did I miss this time?

I highly recommend this book. It might help explain why we our only choices for president might be a white nationalist and a Socialist.
Ezra Klein does a great job examining why our politics is so extreme and there is nobody in the moderate, compromising middle.
As he says, and I agree, Most Americans today associate themselves with various tribes – based on their ethnicity, religion, or prejudices -- rather than being real Americans first.
He concludes the book with some solutions that rely on many Americans to change their thinking. Good luck with that.
So this is my tradition since 1984; pick the presidential winner on the New Years 11 months before the election. I have a pretty good track record. But this year might be the toughest. I am picking.... you have to listen.

So what is wrong with US politics? The answer is a simple equation that has changed over the last 20 years.

Elizabeth Warren just came out with hers. Bernie Sanders has his. They are both Medicare for all and they would create a government-only healthcare system. The moderate Democrats have Medicare for all as an option. The Republicans -- really -- have nothing.
Actually, all of them have nothing. Here’s what they are all missing. There is nothing in there about really reducing costs.
The problem with US healthcare is that it is so expensive compared to the actual care we get.
And why is that? Real simple. So simple they won’t tell you. So simple most Americans are too stupid to understand.
But there is research that backs this up. What we need in healthcare today is preventative medicine. We need a nation that will work hard to keep themselves healthy. That is how you reduce healthcare costs. You don’t get sick. I’ve talk to Dr. Wayne Dysinger, from Loma Linda Hospital, who has done the research on this. He has told me that 90% of what ails us as a nation can be cured or controlled by lifestyle changes.

She answers people who criticized her for sitting next to former President George W. Bush at an NFL game.
She talked about how we can disagree on many things in politics but still remain kind and friendly to the same people we disagree with.
Many people on social media quickly criticized her for two things. The first was that she would even talk to George W. Bush -- which is ridiculous. The second reason was -- why did she even have to say that -- which is also ridiculous.
Why? Because she was criticized by so many people she felt she had to state what is an obvious fact: we need to allow other people their thoughts and beliefs.

The notion that all rep orters are liberal warriors is silly. Attacking a reporter makes little sense. Take an incident that allegedly just happened at the border. Open.

He agreed to acknowledge that so he could get back in to work.
You would think that border patrol agent should be fired. But unfortunately the majority of people think most reporters are liberal warriors fighting for socialism.
As I have noted in my book, and others have noted too, there is an unconscious liberal bias in most of the news media. But there is a reason for that. They are trying to reach as broad a market to inform as many people as possible, because that is their mandate. As a result, you will get more liberal View points in story content and story selection.
Still, My experience with colleagues throughout the years says just the opposite in their political make-up. Most of the people in the news business don’t get paid a lot of money.

Are we responsible on social media for the gaffes of the news media?

So here was a recent situation. I posted a piece from MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell which said tax returns show that Trump had loans backed by Russian oligarchs.
I posted the story attributing it to Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC. I added the word allegedly.
A day later, O’Donnell posts that he shared the story using not enough or thin corroboration and sourcing. And he apologized.
I also posted the retraction and what he said.
My good friend and colleague Walter Behr questioned whether I should have posted it at all.
And he raises a good point.
Since I gave you the heads up on Trump 14 months before the 2016 election, I felt I needed to give you another prediction 14 months away from 2020.

I must admit the mass shootings this past weekend are frightening. Admittedly, I am a little shook up about it. Granted, maybe I am watching too much news coverage. I try to keep you apprised on my news channels on Facebook. You can follow them at John Daly News or informed not inflamed.
But it’s hard to ignore or stash away to a comfortable spot in your mind that so many people were killed so quickly for no reason. It made me think back to the late 1960s when I was a teenager. And frankly, that time was scary too.
We were living with a number of political assassinations. There were militant groups on the rise.
The nation seemed like it was coming apart.
What seemed to galvanize a majority of Americans was the Vietnam war -- or of the groundswell to end the war.
It is a technology that can save the world from pollution, lack of water, and a lack of food.
It is called Gold Seal Industries. And you need to pay attention.

This book is also important because – as we speak here – we are hearing about Facebook coming out with a new international currency. To understand that currency, called Libra, you need to understand blockchain – and why it is so different. I will hit on that at the end here.
So you know, I have read about a half dozen books explaining the blockchain. This is the best book, so far, on blockchain and its future.
Here are some key takeaways on The Truth Machine:
First, the book is loaded with many companies that are already successfully using the blockchain.
Second, most of our elites and lawmakers don’t get it. They are trying to stop the system that could make everybody a participant in the world economy -- without a third-party representation taking money from us.
Third, this is a great business history book. Vigna and Casey go through the history of the double entry accounting from ancient Arab lands that also caused the boom in the modern western society – and how it ties into the block chain.
Fourth, the benefits of the blockchain outweigh some of the downsides. This is a private system that criminals could use. It could also be hacked, but it would take a monumental digital effort.

AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley and the New World Order by Kai-Fu Lee. You should read this.
AI superpowers is a great intro to what artificial intelligence is. Like knowing about blockchain technology, you need to understand what is happening here.
Why?
First, In 15 years – an estimated 40 to 50% of the jobs we have today will be lost to artificial intelligence.
Second, our lawmakers and the media are clueless about this – as are most Americans. Here’s a great example of our ignorance and how the media and politics add to it. In 2016, Obama issued a White House paper on artificial intelligence. But it got no play in the media. It was released the same day we were smothered with Trump’s Access Hollywood tapes. So yes, you need to take control and get informed.
Third, China is putting massive investment into artificial intelligence while lately the US has not.
Fourth, China gathers a ton more data than we do in the US. Data is the feedstock for artificial intelligence. Here in the US we are trying to stop that feedstock because of privacy issues.
So I am reading Ben Shapiro‘s book the right side of history. It’s a good read. I recommend it. I really recommend it for liberals – who want to know the conservative side that is fairly well-researched here.
Will you agree with everything Ben Shapiro says here? No.
Some key take-aways:
This is a conservative solution to the problems we have in our society today. Primarily that we have become more tribal and individualistic and we are easy to find our own moral beliefs to attack someone else.
Thus, incidents where Ben shapiro is not allowed to speak at a college because of his conservative principles.
But Shapiro doesn’t go on the attack against the liberals in this book like he does as an on-air commentator.

Here are some of the confirmations I have seen in the Mueller report.
First, my overall assessment is that this president could be in legal trouble. Am I a legal scholar? No so go read it for yourself.
Was there a direct effort by this president and his campaign to work with the Russians? Yes and no. They certainly were open to opposition research against the Clinton campaign. But I think it was more about political opportunity and political ignorance and ignorance of the law rather than an actual conspiracy. The problem is, like Nixon, the cover up.
And it appears Trump only became a target when he fired Comey.
Life After Google by George gilder.
The secondary title is the fall of big data and the rise of the block chain economy.
I cannot recommend this book enough. First, it shows you what is going to be happening over the next few years concerning block chain technology.
No one in the media is talking about this.
Second, George Gilder has been a forward thinker for decades. One of his first books, life after television, I read in the early 1990s. For the most part he predicted what would happen with the television and television news and what we have today.
So is google going to die soon? I don’t know. I’d like your take on it as well.
But I do think the block chain is going to dominate the world economy.
The two big reasons are security and privacy. In addition, the block chain will democratize business so that the individual will have the power to create their own business out of their home.
All you have to do is look at what Google, Facebook, and other social media giants are doing. They are controlling your information for their profits. With the block chain, you control your information.
Will this happen overnight? I don’t know.
Having behemoths like Google, Facebook, and Amazon – they won’t be taken down overnight. However, people are getting frustrated with the income inequality and the monopolies that seem to be controlling the world economy.
Again, I would get this book on audible.com. Listen to it while you are walking the dog, exercising, or driving long-distances.

Our Man: Richard Holbrook and the End of the American Century by George Packer.
This is a great summer read. It is about the life of Richard Holbrook.
He is best known as the diplomat who ended the Bosnian war. But this biography by George Packer gives us a complex and not so sympathetic view of this bigger than life diplomat. Holbrook was relentless in his ambition. He was no team player. But a lot of his traits lead to his diplomatic successes.
Again in these reviews, I try to get in and out fast so that you are reading the book and not listening to me.
Some quick highlights. Holbrook was on the ground as a diplomat in Vietnam. He was one of many trying to convince LBJ that Vietnam would be a lost cause.
Packer reveals a deadly incident in Bosnia that Holbrook survived but incorrectly embellished years later hurting the career of a military officer.
Packer takes us through the Dayton accords which led to peace in Bosnia. Holbrook gets rave reviews for brow beating all three sides and making them come to an agreement that ended the Civil War in the 1990s. However, we see that the agreement was not perfect, but it ended horrible suffering.
Packer goes into Holbrooks love life which was erratic and thrilling. His last wife was the former wife of ABC News anchor Peter Jennings.
Holbrook died of a burst aorta while trying to negotiate peace in Afghanistan during the Obama administration.
Here are two more reasons to read this book. If you have a love of history, especially what happened in the later years of the 20th century, George Packer takes you behind the scenes of American diplomacy. Personally I reported a lot on the Bosnian war, from here in the United States, thanks to some deep intelligence sources who allowed me to see things and report on things, while also giving me many heads up about things that were happening there. For instance, I knew about the massacre at Srebernica days before it hit the news.
Our politics seem like a disaster. But cutting edge companies and many smart people are ignoring the drama of DC and moving ahead. OK I’m going to come clean.
I have to tell you this story. Bumped into an old friend who said, so you went over to the other side, huh? I said what do you mean?
He said I see you’re working for Trump now.
What he’s talking about is a commercial I did for Newsmax TV. I was helping promote a book called the Trump tax cut: your personal guide to the new tax law by Eva Rosenberg.
And I have had a few other people mention seeing the spot too. You may have seen it online or on TV.
Frankly, I thought I look fat. I shot it right after the Christmas holidays. That’s beside the point.
I received a nice comment the other day.

So here’s the compliment. The friend said I follow your sites. It’s like a newsfeed. But I don’t know where you stand on the issues. And he’s right. You probably don’t know where I stand on issues. The reason: it doesn’t matter where I stand.
The important thing about being a journalist, and we are all journalists now if we are on social media, is to take the complex and make it understandable.
That’s why I try to concentrate on the problems and the solutions on my sites.

If more of us use the template of solutions not entertainment than we will get results from our lawmakers and the media.
Let me go over what the five main problems are.
The first is an aging society. Over the last 15 to 20 years baby boomers have moved from earners to retirees.
That means less economic activity from a big portion of our population. It also means they are relying more on entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security. At the same time, these programs are running out of money. You may think you have paid into Medicare. But you have only paid in 1/3 of what you will use. The remaining two-thirds is being funded by younger taxpayers.

First, you have to be insightful and understanding of what is happening in the American healthcare system.
Second, you have a desire to start your own business that is designed to help many people.
Third, you either have to get or already have state licenses in life and health insurance.

So a site I am recommending a site. It is called media bias fact check.com
You should check it out.
If you come across an outlandish story online, before you re-post it go to media bias fact check.com.
All you do is go to search, type in the publication or news organization’s name -- and hit return.
It will tell you evaluate them on two main criteria. The first is the bias. The second is their reporting believability.
So under bias you will find out these five things -- if they are left biased, left center bias, least biased, right center bias, or right bias.
Under reporting you will get these five:
Very high reporting, high, mixed, low, or very low reporting. Very low would mean they are not reliable at all with information.
You should check out the tab that says methodology so you will see how they rate these news and content organizations.
I would also punch in some of the organizations you trust.
Will they have every organization?
No. If I cannot find the organization, I do not repost its story. It could mean it is from a bot.
Sometimes I will re-post a story but I will also include a link to media bias fact check that explains what the organization’s bias is. It gives the reader a guide post. And someone may have never heard of the organization or site.
Again, I try to post a wide variety of perspectives on new stories. It doesn’t mean I agree or disagree with them. It just means that there are different points of view.
Are the 1960s coming back? Maybe. No not bell bottoms, long hair and Woodstock.

Maybe I listen to too much 60s music. Granted I lived the 60s as a boy.
I have studied the 60s throughout my years trying to figure out their effect on US politics and the economy and our attitudes.

To be honest, the 1960s failed. What happened? The 1970s.
In essence we became way to socialistic and as we saw in the 1970s our economy was rocked until the 1980s which led to the 1990s.
But I think the 1960s are coming back. And this time it might succeed.
First, why is it looking like the 1960s today?
We are seeing a populist movement but it seems to be more anti-Trump.
That’s only part of it. Most of it is anti-elitist. Anti-establishment.
The college admission scandal showed us it is not liberal or conservatives. But is both ideologies that foster a similar hypocrisy. They both bind and then blind us.
We have lived through nearly 2 decades of income inequality that has been rigged by the wealthy or the corporations of the world.
The Democratic takeover of the house is a sign of people starting to fight back.
We’re also seeing massive research that shows the corporate elite is profiting while hurting many of us.
Read the book Undoctored. This is one of the best books of the year.
The behavior and the actions of our lawmakers and the media should wake us up.

I am more and more removing myself from television news -- unless it is breaking news.
TV news does a great job of alerting us to physical disasters.
But that’s it.

Trust me. 15 minutes a day looking at that you will be more informed than watching four hours of cable news.
I have come to the conclusion that watching press conferences of the president or members of Congress is a waste of time.
Again, as I’ve told you before, the media bias is really a sports and entertainment bias.
Both political parties and the media are trying to get our attention and ad dollars through emotion and our prejudice.
The formula is pit one team vs. the other or side with a protagonist against a bad antagonist.
This is how they make money. However, while they’re taking money out of our pockets and taking away our time, there is a ticking time bomb that we are not paying attention to.
That ticking time bomb is our future.
Right now we are told that the government has $22 trillion in debt.
That is being quoted as 4 or 5% of GDP --- which is alarming.
However, as is the media and our lawmakers, they are not giving you the whole story. That $22 trillion is really 10 times higher at $210 trillion and growing.
Why is the number really bigger?
Most polls will say that the majority of Americans are moderate. You can’t tell by our politics.
Donald Trump has a strong man ideology. Some people would say it borders on fascist. He seems to side with dictators like Putin, MBS, and Duterte.
On the other side the so-called progressive wing of the Democratic Party leans towards socialism.
The other day congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that being moderate is just an attitude of life like -- meh.
Here’s where she takes on Trump’s ideology.
Here’s what we’ve seen happen. When are politics turns towards ideology and away from practicality, we run into problems.
That is what’s happening now.
There is a great book out there called the Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt.
It’s about four years old but his conclusions hold up.
He examined why people vote the way they do.
He also looked at why some people are conservative and others are liberal.
But one of his biggest conclusions was about ideology – because that’s what people look for.
He talks about organizations like association, religions, and corporations.
And here’s what Haidt says these organizations do.
They bind and then they blind. What does that mean?
It means they bind you – they bring you together for a cause, then as time goes on they blind you to keep you – when things change.
There are tons of good examples.
The Catholic Church blinding us about pedophile priests.
Major-league baseball in the 1990s ignoring performance-enhancing drugs -- because it boosted attendance.
How about college basketball and the money scandal with shoe companies.
How do you read many books – and become so informed – and you don’t lose your family or your job?
It’s easy.

First, one of my rules is to be really informed you need to be reading non-fiction all the time. Keep a good book going then go to another.
The big reason is that I read so much is when I read I’m also doing something else – at the same time.

I actually think he was genuine -- while also being very partisan.
Here’s the rule he didn’t understand.
If you’re trying to explain away racism, then you most likely are a racist.
Here’s the reality in the United States.
If you are a white American, you are most likely racist -- in someway.
Does that include me? Absolutely.
And I’ll give you an instance where I realized I had the typical American racism.
No I don’t use the N-word. And no I don’t ignore people of color. I have lived in neighborhoods with black and Hispanic neighbors.

Yes. And I will tell you which one.

I have another news finding tip for you. In a previous podcast we talked about setting up your Twitter news feed.
This is one of the publications that should be in in it.
It’s a weekly magazine called the Economist.
I have been reading this magazine since the early 1980s. I have no affiliate agreement with the Economist so you can rest assured I’m telling you this based on what I Believe.
If there is a weekly publication you must have, then this is it.
The economist covers a number of points of view.
They have a right leaning point of view towards business. But they also have a liberal social bias that you would see primarily in Western Europe.
There is also a libertarian Strain at various times that pushes for smaller and smarter government.
There’s a couple things I really enjoy about reading the Economist.
The first is they do offer opinions. But they do it the right way. Not the cable news way.
They present the opinions by bringing out both sides equally and then telling you why they sided with one side or the other. Novel concept huh?
The second benefit is that they cover America from a strictly objective point of view. For the most part, they are not intertwined with one party or the other.
I feel when I read a report from the economist I’m getting a full picture of an issue.
The third benefit is if you get the Economist on your smart phone, each story can be listened to as an audio file. It’s great for working out, walking the dog, traveling long-distances.
So I have a great plan for 2020 election.
But I need your help.
So here it is. Every candidate for president and for Congress has to take a certification test to make sure they know about government, the economy, entitlement programs, Foreign Affairs, and the military.
They would have to take this test and the results would have to be made public.
Why am I proposing this? Two reasons. The first is I just passed my insurance certification. It was not easy. It required a lot of study. It forced me to learn a lot of things that would make sure I would protect people looking for insurance or retirement products.
That got me thinking. How come I have to be tested and qualified to sell insurance. But lawmakers who could do a lot more damage don’t have to prove they’re qualified.
Doctors and lawyers have to do it. Even hairdressers and massage therapists have to do it.
Why not the most important positions in our country that could determine success or failure of our citizens?

What AOC -- might be getting right.
Many of you conservatives might not even get past this first line. But hear me out.
There’s a reason why so many people are paying attention to or attacking the new Democratic Congress woman from New York City – –
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — also known now as AOC.
She actually sees the future more clearly than many veteran lawmakers.
Sure she leans hard left: free college tuition; Medicare for all; — Both nice ideas in theory but not reality — raising tax rates on the rich; and a universal base income for all Americans.
If our minds are still stuck in the 1990s then this is horrifying.
The GOP wants to repeal and replace Obamacare by cutting and shifting costs to the states which could hurt the poor and those with pre-existing conditions.
The Democrats want Medicare for all as a step to a single-payer – which could never work for most Americans who want options. It would not bring costs down, nor would it improve our healthcare outcomes.

So that’s what Nunes was talking about.
We got the latest new allegation that Obama National Security adviser Susan Rice was the one unmasking the identities of Trump folks talking to Russians after the election.
This is like an episode of 24. Something new every few minutes.
Some thoughts for you.
First, we don’t know this. Did it happen? It’s the same as we don’t know if Russia colluded with the Trump campaign to alter the election.
My guess is Russia did nothing to change votes. They were able to change people’s minds with some fake stories.
But we need Susan Rice to answer under oath – as we need Trump officials to do the same.
Is this a Trump deflection? It might be.
Again, we need answers from a bi-partisan committee which seems to be The Senate Intell committee.
And until we do – we will hear from so many people on both sides that are using this new story as a sign of certainty that Obama did surveillance on Trump.
Sure, Susan Rice is a political appointee – with a political past that is a tainted. But she was also National Security Adviser.
Did she break any laws? She might have.
But she might have been doing her job – to protect the government if Trump’s campaign was doing something nefarious.
Here’s what else is curious. Only a few news organizations have been covering this story about the Rice unmasking.
So far, it has been Bloomberg, Fox News, and the Wall Street Journal. Is this a sign of media bias?
It could be. It could also mean they don’t have the sources for the story. They might be working on another aspect. Let's reserve judgment until they publish or air something.

If you read a lot of the headlines, you might think the world is coming to an end. If you watch enough cable news we will think conspiracies abound.
I’m not saying there aren’t serious problems. But the media’s response reiterates my theme of the more dominant media bias which is an entertainment and sports bias – not the left and right bias.
So here are some rules on healthy news consuming.
First only watch television news for breaking news. That is what TV news excels at. They can warn you about danger and what is happening.
Second, if you were watching more than three hours of cable news than you are probably watching too much.
If you were watching the same channel 3 hours a day, then there might be something wrong with you. It could mean that you are so shakable in your beliefs that you need them to be confirmed by the entertainers on TV.
Not only is that unhealthy, but you ook silly to half of your friends.
And since news is more about entertainment and ratings, you don't get any solutions.
I listen too many times to cable news and I am amazed at how the interviewer has an opinion that interrupts whatever the interviewee is saying.
Granted, there are politicians out there and spokespersons who are trained to steer their message their way. If that message is flawed, then why have them on?
Despite what is happening, the President as Businessman analogy could work.
It’s not, though.
Many of you think Trump is the problem.
Actually, most Americans are the problem.
Here's why it is not working now.
First, being a success in business only requires you to win 1% of the market. But in politics, you need to capture 50% plus one of the market to win. That is a lot more difficult.
Second, we didn’t really hire a businessman in Trump. If anything, Trump is a showman – a PT Barnum type. He’s a reality TV star.
Granted, he has made money and made a name for himself. But so have a lot of other CEOs who quietly get down to business and take care of their shareholders and customers.
Hey, I am not knocking Trump. I want to make a name for myself and bank his bucks. I just don’t think I should be president. Although I may be changing that. And I don’t want his lawsuits.
You see Trump’s lack of real business sense in almost everything he has done so far.
Tackling healthcare first and not looking into tax reform first was a major mistake.
He’s naïve when it comes to foreign-policy.
Sure, he wanted to shake things up. But shaking things up and destroying decades or centuries of precedent are a little different.
Still, the analogy of a president as a business person should work.
The real problem is most Americans.
We don’t think of ourselves as shareholders of a great and valuable company. That great and valuable company is the United States.
Instead, we act irresponsibly.
We allow lawmakers and presidents to run us when we should be running them. They are taking advantage of us.
Give me your take.
Media bias charges are being flung all over the place in this election.
Let’s lay out what is happening and how these claims are more smoke screen for our lawmakers to avoid real solutions. Because after all, go the hashtag campaign we have, it is the solutions Stupid.
Some real facts to consider.
First, there is media bias -- but like everything else it is simplified -- to confirm the beliefs of all sides and not to find or confirm real facts.
Second, and in a strange way, I think Fox news and MSNBC have actually become less biased.
Third, if someone is making charges about media bias that usually means they are losing.
Fourth: The media has very little power to change minds.
Let’s dive into this a little more because it will be the foundation for what I am about to reveal.
Read these two books. The Righteous mind by Jonathan Haidt and Thinking, fast and slow by Daniel kahneman.
These are exhaustive studies on how we think and vote. Let me paraphrase their findings – that this election has confirmed.
First, people are predisposed to being conservative or liberal. You are not going to change someone. They are just wired that way.
Second, most people look for confirmation to back their beliefs – even if real facts don’t match those beliefs. Most Americans are intellectually lazy. They want be comfortable in their beliefs.
It is Wednesday March 23, 2016 – the day after the Brussels bombings.
President Obama is being raked over the coals for staying in Havana in the aftermath of the Belgium terrorist attacks.
Let’s get past that for a moment, and dwell on policy that will help us live safely and prosperously.
So, here’s the other side most critics don’t offer.
There is no easy way to crush ISIS anytime soon. The majority of Americans – and I would say a mix of those on the left and the right – would say, “Why do we have to be the world’s policeman.” Being a super power that drops in and takes care of things has become a lot more difficult and a lot more expensive at a time when we have massive debt, we are facing more entitlements as more people retire, and technology is reducing jobs and good paying jobs.
I introduce you to two books.
Unfortunately, most of the mainstream media give you one side or the other. And frankly both sides have deficiencies. Very few give you the nuance of what is really happening. That's why I tell you to temper you're watching of cable news and spend more time reading experts.
It seems many media commentators -- and those on social media -- are attacking the president for his performance in Turkey yesterday.
I watched it. Granted, he wasn’t Churchill. But he wasn’t as bad as most of the commentators – – – especially those on the right – – said he was.
Just to clarify: no one has the answer for ISIS.
All we have our actions that we in the west can take and then the unintended consequences to follow.
So, Obama is probably wrong. And so are his critics.
Here's what I saw yesterday that you are not hearing from a lot of the pundit class.
I saw a president who is an introvert and not an extrovert. Read Susan Cain’s book called Quiet: The Power of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking. For too long, we have been ruled by extroverts who – many of us believe – just act quickly without regard for long-term consequences or really looking ahead.
Obama is an introvert president which is what we wanted – as a reaction to the previous administration.
But Obama is also a politician -- looking at the polls. And I think he still sees an American public that is not interested in going back to war or sending over our youth to die or get destroyed in a foreign land.
I read a post on Facebook from a friend, Terry Prince, who said if were so anxious to go to war then will those politicians agree to send their kids over? Is that an isolationist reaction? Sure. But, like me, who has been with Marines and soldiers who have ruined their lives because of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq -- then this argument deserves some credence. Granted, a lot of those young men and women say it was their duty to go over and fight and their commitment.
