How do we learn ? Asking questions. How do we improve ? Asking questions. Science is not a religion. Science by its very nature is designed to be questioned. When it comes to advances in science and the medical world I believe we live in one of the best times. I am not about anti-vaccine conversations I’m about informed consent conversations. If my doctor tells me I have a debilitating disease and my chances are slim. But there is a new medication that may help. But he explains clearly and factually the possible side effects. Or the fact that the drug is quite new and there’s not enough data to confirm long term adverse effects. But with that knowledge I’m able to decide for myself the odds are worth the risk compared to doing nothing. Well I just explained what DO NOT happen during the COVID pandemic. COVID in all its iterations is only a danger for the elderly or truly sick. Those with existing comorbidities that a simple cold would push them over the edge. Yet an experimental mRNA Vaxx was pushed on healthy adults and children with no regard for bodily autonomy. Well this is a touchy subject but I take it nobody wants to address the elephant in the room. And since it’s Disney why not just call it Dumbo. And the big Dumbo is asking if global brands like Disney should be involved ethically as well as economically when making decisions. As always I am not leaning either way. I simply point out it’s interesting that a brand that openly supports the LGBTQ community seems morally flexible when it comes to prophet. Building a new theme park in Abu Dhabi raises some questions considering the region’s harsh views on LQBTQ lifestyles. None of our business you say? These days we all believe we are in the most enlightened times. The power of knowledge at our fingertips. But the default setting for many is the idea of “knowing” rather than thinking something through. True critical thinking is gone. Social media is just an echo chamber causing us to rearrange our prejudices. Not to actually take in facts and possibly learn something. The current barrage of Tesla vandalism shows a childish and tribal mentality amongst many people. They think they’re fighting the good fight. A revolution to be proud of. Only he was conveniently placed there and looked surprisingly well groomed, fed, manicured for someone imprisoned in a dungeon for months. And his Brooks Brothers uptown coat was brand new and looking sharo. As I always say it’s up to you to crowdsource news from multiple sources and weed through the propaganda for the facts. The ugly truth is….life is simple. Do onto others as you’d have done onto you. If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. But the fact is sometimes people say things that others might perceive subjectivity as “not nice”. Well we live in a world of free speech and the fact is you can’t be imprisoned for your opinion. Also a reminder of how lucky you are as there are plenty of countries where you’ll get exactly that for your opinion. Australia is often a litmus test for other leaders to see how people will react. The Misinformation and disinformation Bill is an abomination for free speech. It uses words to make you think it’s made to protect you. When all it does is allow unelected groups like “The Ministry of Misinformation” to decide what is “truth” and what is a “lie”. And so it comes to pass that DeadPool and Wolverine finally get their chance to square off and team up in their own movie. For the Marvel universe it could be too little too late. Even though DeadPool (Ryan Reynolds) says he’s the Marvel Jesus hoping to reset the Marvel timeline. When we think about Hollywood remakes the first question is sometimes…why ? In the case of the new Road House remake that question is only the beginning. Remember the library? Books ? Remember having to do research for a term paper. Well not you don’t need to do any of that. With AI platforms like Chat GPT the machines will just do it for you. But at least in the library there was a fiction and non-fiction section. You could easily navigate fact from fiction. Well that’s going to be hard to do when companies like IBM and Microsoft, Facebook and Google start to build in bias into AI. If I want to look up facts I don’t expect an opinion to be spat out by the machine. But remember AI doesn’t spring to life on its own. We will never know the truth of emotion in others until we’ve walked a mile in their shoes. With Lucasfilm, Disney was handed a legacy complete with well developed and beloved characters complete with a built in audience. They killed Star Wars and have finally killed Indiana Jones. Even a budget close to 300 million couldn’t save this sad send off for a pop culture movie legend.

OceanGate’s sub “Titan” meets a tragic end with a possible implosion 3800 meters below the ocean exploring the Titanic. Amongst the 5 was OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush. First and foremost we should take a moment to reflect on the human tragedy. Beyond that you should ask yourself just what risks are truly worth it. We all have an adventurous spirit and some have the funds to go beyond the weekend warrior. But even those who climb Everest ensure to take every precaution and research and train to ensure they make it out alive. Yes all these men knew the risk. But was the technology a bit too cutting edge? Was the team behind this selected for their skill and experience and overall suitably to take on such a risky endeavour? Based on the video where the team was hired to focus on young spirit and diversity, perhaps they were looking at the wrong aspects of what was needed for a quality support team. Also ironically the Navy and U.S. coastguard were the men and women who actually put themselves at risk to try and save the sub and it’s crew. Ironically the people that OceanGate would have overlooked as a “typical” crew that would normally be selected. Be careful when your aim is to just tick a box.
