In today's episode, I share audio from one of my videos. This one explores the concept of 'pseudo-thought leadership' and warns of the prevalence of recycled ideas and the lack of true originality on the web. It also discusses the psychological and social barriers to accepting novel ideas and the resistance genuine thought leaders often face.
Why It Matters: Understanding the difference between real and pseudo-thought leadership is crucial - if you really value critical free-thinking. After all, it's hard to think for yourself when the content you examine is recycled or emotionally driven. ⚠️ Warning: This one encourages the exploration of intellectually challenging or uncomfortable ideas, as they typically lead to innovation and thought leadership. However, this should not be taken as an endorsement of blindly adopting all unpopular ideas, especially those that are rightfully dismissed or rejected. The focus here is on discerning the potential value of ideas that challenge the status quo, not blindly accepting every unpopular notion. Critical thinking and the merit of thought are key. I'm merely asking everyone to think for themselves and base their decisions on the merit of thought.

The S&P 500 ended the year down 18%. That is the largest loss since 2008. Here’s the kicker. Looking at ANY year since 1940 with a larger decline, you see 1974, 2002, and 2008. Unfortunately, 2023 is shaping up to be significantly worse. Moreover, it looks like 2023 might be the year that war-related things really kick off. I guess we’ll see, but things sure don’t look good at the moment. So, we’ll close out the year by talking about this week’s economic nonsense, increased tensions, and a few pieces of advice for 2023.

Biden suggested this week that Florida and Texas should have worked with him on the immigration situation before just sending immigrants to other states. The question then becomes, why should those governors work with Biden on a problem that Biden himself helped to exacerbate? Shouldn't Biden have worked with the states before enacting policies that invited so many to our country? We'll talk about it. While the media would love to (continue to) tell you that things are fine and that it is perfectly acceptable to spend your money, the clues are suggesting something significantly different. And while they are just clues, these clues suggest that not only are they manipulating you, but the near-term outcomes are going to be nasty. It seems as though we are being lied to. The numbers are wrong, the contortion is real, and we are being told things are awesome - DESPITE seeing and feeling the reality in front of us. There is a question that we ask ourselves. In this episode... I'll ask it repeatedly.

It's bread and circuses. That's where I think we are at. Historically speaking, it's not a good place to be. The performers are sub-par, the animals are sick, the tent is tattered, and nobody wants to admit that it is one bad show from permanent closure. But hey... at least they are handing out bread. Officials are literally lying to your face, changing the language to fit their narratives, while driving this ish-show off of a cliff.
Or perhaps a better metaphor might be that the government seems to be playing a sick game "How Much Can the Camel Carry?" Remember that it only took one final straw to destroy the camel. There is only so much that a system can take before it finally gives way. The question we need to ask ourselves is just how close are we to breaking the camel they are parading around? I cannot help but believe that we are likely much closer than any one of us would like to admit, and it's cruel to try and pretend that any of this is anything other than a sick and morbid game.
Be aware. Be VERY aware.

They do not provide too many accounts of the drama that people endure during such times. Ironically, they do provide some of the warning signs of how and when things turned. People today seem to want to ignore them. Are you keeping a watchful eye, or do you still believe that things like this won't happen in your lifetime?
