Kristiane Roca, EE’s National Director of Bolivia, shared a story with me of a woman she discipled. “...she had the opportunity a few weeks ago to share the Gospel with Alfredo. Alfredo was a man who was quite reluctant to trust in Jesus Christ, even though his family was already coming to church, serving the Lord and all that. And when she shared the message of salvation with him using Evangelism Explosion, Alfredo understood the message and received the gift of eternal life.” What a beautiful picture of a willing believer sharing her faith and giving Alfredo the opportunity to respond to the Gospel. And now he is following Christ and growing in his faith. You never know what God is doing in someone's heart. Our job is simply to be faithful and to share. As a result of this work that is being done, many churches have started wanting to unite to even go out and evangelize as a group.” I love that picture. You know, sometimes we think sharing our faith is something that we do alone. But throughout Scripture, we see believers serving and witnessing together. There’s something powerful that happens when churches unite around the Gospel. So let me encourage you—join other believers in sharing the Gospel. When interviewing Oliten Lameck, EE’s National Director of Malawi, he shared with me something that every pastor and church leader needs to hear: “Though people are in churches, but they still need the Gospel. So this is pushing us that we should really equip people so that they can share Gospel to people. And even those who are in churches, they need the Gospel.” You know, that’s true. Sometimes we assume that because someone attends church, they understand how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. But that’s not always the case. That’s why sharing the Gospel is so important, even inside our churches. So you have conversations with the people around you, make sure to ask spiritual questions. Listen carefully. Oliten Lameck, EE’s National Director of Malawi, recently told me about a group that had just gone through evangelism training. They told him: “‘I think we were really missing this. It was like we were missing quarter of our life, not knowing how to share the Gospel like this.’ So they were encouraged and they committed themselves to continue sharing the Gospel to other people.” And truly, I’ve heard comments like that all over the world. Many Christians love Jesus. They attend church. They serve faithfully. But no one has ever shown them how to confidently share their faith. And when they learn, it’s like a fire ignites in their heart. They find a passion for sharing the Gospel and teaching others how to as well. I was talking with Oliten Lameck, EE’s National Director of Malawi, and he shared what God is doing: “Like now we are training the people, equipping pastors, equipping young leaders on how to share the Gospel. For instance, last week we had a training, Hope for Kids training and also Share Your Faith training. So we are busy with the Gospel, equipping people so that they may also equip other people with the Gospel.” You know, that’s really how the Gospel spreads. One believer shares with another. One person is equipped, and then they help equip someone else. That’s why Paul told Timothy to entrust what he had learned to faithful people who would teach others also. I asked Rey Bechayda, EE’s National Director of the Philippines, what it was like gathering with believers from around the world at EE’s last Congress of Nations, and I loved his answer. He said: “I can still remember that it was just like a family. All the nations from every continent listen up and they are happy for you. We’re happy for one another. We’re excited about the new things that God is doing in every continent and in every nation.” When believers come together around the Gospel, something powerful happens. We encourage one another. We learn from one another. And we spur each other on in the mission Jesus gave us: to share the hope of Jesus and what He has done for us with every person. And together, we will reach the world.” And honestly, I believe he’s right. All around the world right now, people are hearing the Gospel and lives are being transformed by Jesus Christ. I heard something from Rey Bechayda in the Philippines that was both convicting and encouraging. He said: “Jesus referred to us as witnesses, but we’re not witnessing... We need to activate churches. And one lacking is equipping. And the ministry of Evangelism Explosion is here to equip you.” You know, I think a lot of Christians really do want to share their faith. They just don’t know how to start. But it doesn’t have to be complicated. One of the best things you can do is ask questions and really listen to people. Ask them about life, about struggles, about what they believe. And then, naturally, share what Jesus has done in your own life. Your story can be the bridge God uses for you to share the Gospel. Barry McGuire, the businessman behind McGuire’s Car Wax, had all the success he could ask for. But he discovered there was something even greater than building a company or seeing his name on products around the world. Barry shares about the joy he has found in his life: “When you bear fruit, then you're my disciple. Now you're there. My joy remain with you, and your joy will remain full. I mean, that's one of the great scriptures of the entire Bible. Who doesn't want to have their joy full every day!” Real joy doesn’t come from possessions or accomplishments — it comes from obedience to Christ. When it comes to evangelism, Barry McGuire doesn’t mince words. He says, “I say, all of us are witnesses. Some of us are witnesses for the prosecution.” That should stop us in our tracks. If we know the hope of the Gospel, of what Jesus has done for us, but keep silent, we’re being witnesses for the wrong side. And in doing so, we may even be testifying against the very truth we claim to believe. But there’s another way. Barry shares, “It's how do we get as many people into heaven as we can in the amount of time we have left?” When we choose to open our mouths and point people to Christ through telling them the Good News of the Gospel, we become faithful witnesses for Him. When Troy Miller, CEO of the National Religious Broadcaster, talks about media, he doesn’t just talk about technology — he talks about mission. He says, “And look at where we're at today, today, we can instantly communicate to anybody around the globe, um, right now from where we're sitting, Uh, we could be talking to anybody on any continent.” What a time to be alive and share Christ! Every conversation, every post, every interaction is an opportunity to point someone toward Christ and share the Gospel with them. And the message we share matters. The question isn’t whether you’re broadcasting a message. The question is: what message are you broadcasting? Every Christian has been called to take the Gospel to the world — and it starts with us sharing it with the people He has put in our own circle of relationships. Troy Miller, CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters, has seen firsthand how God can use media to reach the world. He says, “We make plans, but God does order our steps. When we learn to share the Gospel, we become part of something eternal. This past September, Samuel walked into our ministry’s offices in Uganda. Homeless, jobless, and abandoned, he’d spent nights on the streets of Kampala, desperate and hopeless. He told us, “I thought about ending my life so many times…I just needed someone to talk to.” And that’s when he met Francis. Francis listened, and he shared the Gospel. In just 25 minutes, Samuel surrendered his life to Jesus, tears streaming down his face. He received a Bible, prayer, and a bus ticket home. And just four days later—Samuel got a job offer just out of the blue! Today, he’s working and growing in his faith at a local church in his hometown. When we ask God for opportunities to share the Gospel, He answers—and sometimes in ways we don’t expect. One evening this past September, a young man in Kenya who learned to share his faith felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak with two young men from a nearby village. He had recently been to one of our evangelism trainings, and he learned exactly how to share the Gospel clearly and confidently. And as they sat together, he asked them two diagnostic questions, and one said that he was saved, while the other one trusted in good works. But after hearing the Gospel, both realized they needed Jesus. And that night, they prayed to receive Him as Lord and Savior! When we ask for opportunities to share the Gospel, God will answer us. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. Last August, in Kasungu, Malawi, a young girl was moments away from taking her own life. But God had another plan. Evance, who had learned to share his faith, heard about her situation and went to her home. While others were trying to reason with her, Evance brought something more: the Gospel. He gently asked her two questions: if she knew if she was going to Heaven and what she’d say to God if He asked her why He should let her into Heaven. She broke down in tears. Right then, Evance shared the hope found in Jesus—and she received Christ as her Savior and Lord. And that day, her life forever changed. She gained hope and joy that she didn’t have before. Why is it so important to share the Gospel? Well, because right now, someone is praying for the truth. Daniel was one of them. He cried out to God, “Reveal Yourself to me—for my salvation and for my personal growth.” And that very same day, Japhet—one of our EE trainees from Nairobi, who had just learned to share the Gospel—felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak to a young man standing alone at the Heal Africa Hospital. That man was Daniel. And as they spoke, Japhet shared the Gospel. And Daniel, though active in his church, realized he didn’t have the assurance of eternal life. And right there in the road, he gave his life to Christ—and with tears in his eyes said, “God answered my prayer through you.” You know, people are searching for hope. And God is calling us to go. In the past month, my grandson had his birthday, and upon receiving his gifts, he said, “Wow! These are so cool I can’t stop being grateful!” We chuckled at these heartwarming words from a seven-year-old, but isn’t it just profound? When we are given good gifts, we just can’t help but be grateful. And we have received good gifts from our Heavenly Father–of first importance, the gift of salvation! He promised a Messiah who would come take away our sins, and He fulfilled the promise of salvation through Jesus to all who would put their full trust in Him. We have seen God’s goodness and faithfulness through Jesus, and we can also cling to His other promises that He’s made for us. The result is a heart ready to believe God at His Word and fulfill His purpose for our lives. Do you remember the day when God was about to take Elijah up to Heaven? On the journey, Elijah and Elisha stopped at several places. Each time, Elijah offered for Elisha to stay there, but Elisha refused. Gilgal was where Elisha was from. For him, it was the starting line. Jericho was a place of a grand triumph for God’s people. But Elisha refused to stay put at the beginning, not growing, or in past victories. He traveled with Elijah over the Jordan River and saw God take him up to Heaven. In a sense, Elisha crossed over a servant but came back a prophet. He gave up his life to the Lord’s service and, in turn, got a new and better life. So my question for us today is: are we stuck not growing or simply celebrating past victories? Or are we committed to giving up our whole life to the Lord for His service—living for Him and sharing the Gospel? For resources, visit www.sharelife.today.

Sami grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, determined to live for himself. He would work hard, make a lot of money, and live life his way. Soon, he was working as a waiter at an international hotel when he met an elderly couple. They were always looking for opportunities to share their faith. After one year of seeing the couple, Sammy finally listened to the Gospel and gave his heart to Christ. His life plan changed. Now, he would live life for others. Sometime later, he met another young man in the hotel lounge. Sami befriended, shared the Gospel with, and helped him to see what his life could be with Christ. That man’s name is Franklin Graham. Today, Sami is now a pastor of a church of around thirty thousand people in Lebanon. What started as an elderly couple simply determined to live for others has led to many thousands, perhaps millions, who have been blessed by what God has done through Franklin and Sammy. Well Done. Now, those are two words we all want to hear. Whether in this life or eternity with Christ, we want to be told, “I’m proud of you! You did it! Well done!” It is not much different from when my grandchildren try to get my attention and acknowledgment. They could be riding a bike or sliding into a pool, but they always cry out, “Watch me! Watch me, Grandpa!” They want to know that I am seeing what they are doing so, in turn, I can tell them how proud I am of what they have done. Well, I want to encourage you today—God is watching you. He is watching your actions, and one day He will tell you, His precious child, “Well done. I’m so proud of you.” He wants you to live a life full of love and full of Him. When you arrive in Heaven, do you want to hear God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”? Now I know I do! And while we know that God is the “author and finisher of our faith,” the truth is that finishing strong isn’t something that just happens. It has to be worked on. And one way we can finish strong is to share our faith. For Christians, growth and generosity go hand in hand. Psalm 112:5 tells us, “Good will come to those who are generous...” Well, why do generosity and growth go together? If our aim is to be more like Jesus, well we need to model after His generous nature. He, in fact, is the most giving Person ever to be, for God Himself became a man, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross in payment for our sins. And if we place our trust in Him alone, He gives us the free gift of eternal life. And in Jesus’ ministry on earth, He gave His time to share with and forgive the ones that others spurned: the woman at the well, the lepers, the blind and the lame, and the tax collector Matthew, to name a few. The Bible teaches us that everything we possess has come to us because God gave it to us. 1 Corinthians 4:7 says, “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” Our responsibility with our possessions is to use them as God’s stewards — using them, that is, as He would Himself. In Acts chapter two, we see a picture of the early church selling their property and possessions to make sure that any need was met. They had open hands and hearts with all that they owned. This is an expression of Christian fellowship in the church: sharing what we possess. Have you ever heard Jesus’ parable of the man who sells all that he has to buy a field? And he does so because he knows there is a treasure hidden in that field. The man in the parable gained the goal of his life. He was not a man to be pitied. He was filled with joy and rich beyond belief. He was satisfied. The point to this parable is that getting the kingdom of Heaven far outweighs anything we have to give up. So the question for us today is this: Are we giving up our lives to serve God? Are we using our time, our talent, our treasure to advance His kingdom? And if so, it’s not a sacrifice on our part. The man in the parable did what he did out of self-interest. And we’re not instructed to give up everything for no gain. In Matthew 6, Jesus tells us to lay up for ourselves treasures in Heaven. So let’s invest in the kingdom and share our faith with others! When thinking about running the race of the Christian life, it helps me to consider the history around me. I sometimes study at an antique desk. The finish is cracked. The corners are rounded. The chair creaks. Some people tell me to get a new desk that doesn’t look so old and outdated, but you know other preachers have used this desk—many very fine preachers. And studying at that desk causes me to consider those that have gone before me. This is kind of what we’re told in Hebrews 12:1 where the writer mentions a “cloud of witnesses,” which were people who were heavily persecuted for the cause of the Gospel. They were beaten, stoned, and sawn in two for their faith. They were people who finished the race, and shared the Gospel passionately to the very end. So let me encourage you today: consider these heroes of the past who have run the race and won. We can do it too! And knowing that can help us finish strong. In today’s episode, I’d like to quote Dr. D. James Kennedy, a man who lived His life fully for Jesus. He said, “There is really only one day in the life of anybody that counts. [It] is the day when you stand before Jesus Christ, after death. Either He will look you in the eye and say, ‘Well done, you good and faithful servant’ or He’ll say, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, for I never knew you.’ In between these two extremes, it’s fair to say that He may say to some, ‘Well, you can come in, but I am really disappointed in how poorly you finished.’ Paul tells us that some will be saved, but as through fire. On the Day of Judgment, their works will not stand the test of Christ. Do you have a personal mission statement? It seems like everybody nowadays has one. Like “to boldly go where no one has gone before.” And we as Christians are no different — we should have a target — a goal. This is not an uncontrolled stroll through the byways of life. We are not tourists, we are pilgrims. Our race has been clearly marked out by God’s Word. In 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul tells us that he has “fought the fight...he finished the race...he kept the faith.” How ridiculous it would be for a runner to show up at the New York Marathon and decide he did not like the course and start off in the wrong direction. Could he win the race? Of course not. Paul’s goal was to complete the mission Christ had given him (the same mission He has given to me and to you). He was old and feeble when I first saw him coming up the aisle. When he got up to the front, Robert put his finger up into my face, and he exclaimed, “Young man, I’ve tried witnessing for Jesus Christ my entire life, and I’ve never led anyone to Jesus. And now you tell me if I get involved and learn how to share my faith that I could to lead someone to Jesus before I die!" I told him yes; and through the next year, Robert learned to share the Gospel through an EE program at a church that he drove to twenty-one miles away. There was a hymn that we used to sing, that said, “Must I go but empty handed?” Well, Robert did not want that to be him. Now Robert isn't with us here anymore; Robert is now in heaven. But before he went, he didn’t only lead one person to Jesus...he led five people to Jesus! You see, he finished strong. Now I hope and pray that that can be said of each of us! Corrie Ten Boom said, “The measure of a life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation.” I think she perfectly conveys what a life well lived is. One day, when we sit at the feet of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, what will be our donation? Like the old poem says, “Only one life will soon be past; only what’s done for Christ will last.” Now, I don’t know about you, but when I see Jesus one day in Heaven, I don’t want to come empty-handed. I want to hear, “Well done.” I want to know that others will be in Heaven because I obeyed Christ, shared the Gospel, and had the privilege of seeing them make a decision to follow Jesus. And because of that desire, I want to live my life right now in the best way that I can—sharing the Gospel with the people around me. Do you ever get discouraged from sharing your faith? I want to encourage you today: you never know what God is doing. Walter’s from Austria and has been discipling Christians there in how to share the Gospel. One day, he went out asking two questions, “Do you know for sure that you’ll be with God in Heaven?” and “If God were to ask you, ‘Why should I let you into my Heaven, what would you say?” He asked those questions all over the city but didn’t have anyone respond. Walter returned home discouraged. But a week later, he gets a call from a friend who tells him that a young woman he asked those questions to was stirred to find out the answers. So, she went to the only Christian couple she knew, and they led her to Jesus. And now she joined the Church! God is changing hearts. “If I can lead just one person to Jesus in the next ten years, I’ll be happy the rest of my life.” This was the prayer of Toni from Finland before he joined one of our evangelism discipleship trainings. So he started learning how he could share his faith, and on his first attempt talking with his friend, who was the bass player in the band he was in, something unexpected happened…his friend wanted to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior! Toni was blown away. He told God, “I said ten years—not five weeks!” But Toni experienced this truth: if we’re faithful to share the Good News of the Gospel, God will use us. In the Czech Republic, Michal is faithfully discipling Christians how to share the Gospel! He started 2024 off by training two Christians to share their faith. And now, those two are equipping at least fourteen people between them! Now, that’s what I call multiplication. This past March, everyone went out to share the Gospel on the streets of Prague as part of the training, and Michal came across four Ukrainian teenagers who were refugees from the war. The two teenage girls of the group, Kristyna and Margo, both accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and asked to be discipled by the Christians who shared with them! The kingdom of God is growing, and He’s using men and women just like you and me to share the Good News of the Gospel with people and to disciple them. This promise from God found in 2 Chronicles gives us such hope—even in a time where hope is scarce in our country. But here's the truth: God is faithful; He keeps His promises. In the predominantly Muslim country of Azerbaijan, something amazing happened. A family was visiting one of the major cities, and their friend asked Al-Sham if they could stay with him. Well, Al-Sham and his family are Christians, but he felt God telling them to open his home to them. When they were there, Al-Sham would invite them to sit and speak with him about God. He asked, “If you were to stand before God, and He asked you, ‘Why should I let you into my Heaven?’ what would you say?” Well, they replied that they didn’t know but hoped that the good things they did would be enough. Al-Sham then shared with them about God’s love through sending His Son, Jesus, to die in our place for our sins. And all who put their trust Him alone receive the free gift of eternal life. This past year in Russia, we held a children’s evangelism discipleship training at a local church. And even before the training, a little boy named Arseniy shared about Christ with his family. He asked them if he could go to the training event. They agreed, and there, he learned even more about how to clearly share the Gospel and caught fire to tell others about it. After he completed the training, he told us that he wanted to tell all the boys in his neighborhood the Good News of the Gospel. And his father, Sergey, pledged to help him! Arseniy wants to share as he plays sports with his neighbors in the yard. Now, I can’t help but wonder how God will use the rest of Arseniy’s life to spread the hope of the Gospel. I praise God for the young evangelists and disciple-makers being raised up to be the next leaders in the Church. As we conclude this week talking about the church globally and how we’re called to go to the nations, I wanted to share a testimony with you from a challenging part of the world. Made up of the former Soviet Union and most of the Middle East, Central Asia is a region where persecution happens almost every day to Christ-followers. And yet, God is moving mightily in these countries. For instance, in a small village in Lebanon, a family heard the Gospel from a team of Christians who knocked on their door. The husband, the wife, and all the children gave their hearts to Christ that day. And the villagers were not pleased and began persecuting them heavily. However, God used these same Christians who led the family to Christ to share with the villagers also, and their minds were changed. In His famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven." You know, persecution can be a difficult topic to talk about; and yet if we are followers of Christ, Jesus Himself said that we will face it. But it will not be in vain. Christ promises that when we share in His sufferings by facing insults and false accusations that there is a reward. When I read this, I am encouraged that firstly, I am not in this alone—Jesus has experienced the very same rejection. Psalm 36:5 tells us, “Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.” And it’s so true—God is faithful. And I love telling other people about how faithful He’s been to me. Now, it reminds me of the passage in Joshua 4, where the Israelites cross over the Jordan River. When God parted the waters, Joshua commanded one man from each one of the twelve tribes to pick up a stone from the bottom of the river. And on the other side, they piled up these stones up as a monument to God’s faithfulness in preparing a way for them through the Jordan. As forgetful people, we need to do the same. We need to inscribe on our hearts the acts of faithfulness that God has done in our lives and boldly share them with others. And you know what? God will use them to open conversation. What have you seen God do in your life? Now, the truth is, we all have hundreds of what we like to call “God stories.” These are times you’ve experienced God moving in your life, like a change that He’s brought about, an answered prayer, a restored relationship, or the moment you put your saving faith in Jesus. Now when sharing one of your “God stories” with another person, make the contrast for them. Start with what life was like before the change or before God stepped in. And then, share what God did. End your testimony with something about the confidence that you have concerning Heaven and eternal life. An example would be something like, “The greatest thing of all of this is that I know for sure that if I died today, I’m going to go to Heaven.” This leads very naturally to asking them questions about their own spiritual life and sharing the Gospel with them! If you’ve seen someone leave a Gospel tract in a restaurant or hand one to a stranger walking by, have you ever thought, "I wonder if they’ll read it?” I’d like to suggest that our first and best response should be to ask the Holy Spirit to compel the person to read it as He did with Philip. Philip was sitting on a park bench talking on his phone when someone walked by and handed him a Gospel tract. The Holy Spirit prompted Philip to open it. So he did, and he read the whole thing. Romans 3:23 jumped off the page, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Philip was convicted, and he repented. You know, it’s unthinkable. It’s February 1975, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. You leave a Gospel tract with a young gas station attendant you come across while you’re filling your tank. He takes the tract, shoves you, gives you an earful; and while you’re stammering for words, he walks away. Now, if you’re someone who likes to hand out Gospel tracts, you’ve probably never had an experience quite like that, but I’ll bet you’ve still wondered if the people you give these tracts to actually read them or they toss them. Hey, we all have. In fact, some people will argue that Gospel tracts simply don’t work. But let’s get back to the young gas station attendant. Let me ask you a question...on a scale from one to ten, how fulfilling would you say your life is? What makes it that number? I met a pastor a few years ago who told me that evangelism doesn’t work anymore. He told me you can’t go and talk to people because the culture doesn’t approve. Do you know where this pastor was from? The African nation of Zambia. Unfortunately, that is a common statement we often hear around the world. However, I asked this pastor if he’d be open to come to a training near his home in Zambia and test his theory. Well, during that week, the Gospel was shared with 234 people with 158 giving their lives to Christ. Needless to say, he not only had a change of heart but a renewed passion for sharing the Gospel. How would you like to learn an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation? Using the five fingers of your hand, we’re going to put one word to each finger. The five words are GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST and FAITH. We’ll look at one word for each day this week. Word number one is GRACE – picture your thumb pointing toward Heaven. Grace, heaven, eternal life, is a gift. Romans 6:23 says, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And, like any gift, it is not earned or deserved. The Bible tells us that we’re saved through faith, not works. What a relief! Every other religion teaches that people must earn their way to Heaven, but not Christianity. Christianity alone proclaims that God’s favor and entrance into heaven are absolutely free to us because of Jesus' sacrifice. So, word number one of the Gospel is GRACE. And we need it desperately. Have you ever said something and immediately thought, "Why on earth did I say it that way?!" There are plenty of times when we feel like slinking away for saying the wrong thing, but here’s some good news! The Word of the Lord does not return void! Now, this doesn’t mean you walk up to everyone you want to reach with the Gospel and hit them over the head with a Bible saying the wrong thing. Concentrate on the portion of the verse that bears on the discussion at the moment, without assuming the person you’re talking to knows much about the Bible. Stress the positive benefits of the Gospel like the unspeakable joy you have because Heaven is a free gift! Trust that the Holy Spirit will do His work; you just need to be obedient. Just Ask. It couldn't hurt. I mean, it can certainly be easy to stereotype someone or to assume they already know Jesus or have had the Gospel presented to them. I remember a few years ago when a church started equipping their members to share the Gospel…a ninety year old man from the church came to faith in Jesus. Age doesn't matter to the Lord, so don't keep silent about the Gospel just because you think they've already made a decision. A man named Sam set out to witness one evening and found out the young man he was talking to was a local pastor's son, but he didn't let that stop him from asking if he knew that Heaven would be his home. He wasn't sure and ended up making a profession of faith right there with Sam! Your family situation and religious background don't determine where you'll spend eternity. Are you walking with the Lord? You know, you've probably heard that phrase “walking with the Lord” many times. But have you stopped to think about what it means? It’s a fact—most people who love Jesus and embrace the Bible as God’s Holy Word never share the Gospel. I was in that same situation. I never thought that anyone would listen to me, but, you know, God granted me the opportunity to see that spiritual light turn on in others’ lives as they made professions of faith in Jesus. All it took was some tools and training that helped me share. And it’s not just me but millions of others also. One Vietnamese couple comes to mind. They’re from Canada. Have you checked off your Christian to do list today? Barna Research did a study that shares that most churchgoers equate spiritual maturity with following a list of rules. But, you know, that's not what the Bible says at all! Instead, Jesus tells us to abide in Him to produce spiritual fruit. Spiritual maturity isn't measured by checking all the boxes—it's measured by the Fruit of the Spirit. And the Fruit of the Spirit is produced by the Lord working in us as we abide in Him! Lamentations three says because of the Lord's great love we're not consumed - His mercy is new every morning, and great is His faithfulness! The Lord is so gentle with us and faithful to us. Isn't God good? All the time! And all the time, God is good. We also know that He’s kind...and He’s patient. Just ask Bill! Bill had been praying for decades for his sister-in-law to come to saving faith in Jesus. He patiently prayed for her heart to be softened, and she finally accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Talk about a celebration! You see, the Fruit of the Spirit includes patience, kindness, and goodness. And this story shows us God's kindness and goodness, and His patient pursuit of our hearts. Who do you want to see come to know Jesus? Do you have a name? Are you praying for that person? Have you gotten another believer to pray for them with you? A few years ago, the youth pastor at my church became intentional in discipling teenagers to pray for their lost friends. The ministry started praying just for over 140 people; and in just the first two months, eighteen of those friends came to a saving faith in Jesus! That’s the power of praying together for the lost! Can you imagine what would happen in the lives of the lost ones that you love if you would get together with other believers to pray for them? How often are you praying for the lost? Are you praying for God to send someone to share with them? Pray for their heart and mind to be open to the Gospel and pray that you would be ready to share with them when the time comes. A book called the Essentials of Prayer by E.M. Do you realize that Jesus prayed for you? You might be thinking...what did He pray? Well, on the night of His arrest before Calvary, Jesus prayed this: "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world." This is God's great mission! Right before Jesus was arrested, brutally beaten and killed, He prayed for the lost. He prayed that people would come to know Him - to be with Him in Heaven one day. Who are you praying for? Now, I'm sure that if you know Jesus, you pray regularly for your family and friends, and maybe even some people that you don't personally know. But, are you praying for the lost? The Lord puts a burden on our hearts for others, and He hears our prayers...so if you're praying for the lost, watch with expectation — He will honor your prayers. Pray that those who don't yet know Christ that they will hear God's Word and be receptive to it. Pray that they will be given the opportunity to accept the grace of Jesus. And also, when you pray for nonbelievers, don't forget to pray for believers to be raised up to share the Gospel with them. Matthew 9 says the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the field...and then be willing to BE one of those workers! Are you hesitant to share the Gospel with your neighbors? You know, one day, as my wife and I were out on a walk, a boy who lived next door joined us and told us his mother had moved out earlier that day. Well, it broke my heart. When I saw his father on their porch, I worked up the courage to walk up and tell Bill how sorry I was to hear this. And then I shared that Jesus is the most important thing to me, He had changed my life, giving me peace and comfort during difficult times. Well, Bill looked at me and said, “…you’re a liar.” He said, “You’re my friend, and you’ve lived next to me for five years. You’ve never told me about Jesus!" Well, you know, I had to apologize to Bill for not sharing the Good News sooner. And soon, Bill gave his heart to Jesus. His wife did, too; and they are happily married today. “I have a home, a career, I sleep well and I'm free...” That quote can be found on what’s my story dot org in a testimony by a man named Maurice. He served in the US Army but felt like he had no hope for the future. After his deployment, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol. He said that when he began seeking Jesus, his life did a one eighty. Jesus brings freedom from our past and replaces despair with hope and the desire for others to know Him as well. Romans 6:22 says this: "But now that you have been set free from sin and become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life." If you're a citizen of the United States, you are free. Now, you're probably not free because you've earned it, are you? Of course not - your freedom as an American is because of the men and women who put their lives on the line, many giving the ultimate sacrifice by dying for our freedom. You know, that's a lot like our freedom in Jesus. When we accept Christ, we become free from sin and its penalty. Angie said that despite her past marked with addiction and depression, she began to feel freedom when she finally cried out to Jesus. It’s been said that the most patriotic thing that we can do is win our neighbor to Christ. This time of year, we're reminded of freedom and how blessed we are to be free. You see red, white and blue nearly everywhere in June and July here in the States. Now, why is that? What good is an empty toolbox? Now, the answer is pretty obvious—it's not very helpful! My grandad was a tool guy. And every week, he would take part of his salary, head up to the local Sears, and buy a new tool. He was quick to tell me a saying that has been around awhile, “the right tool, for the right job.” Of course, that applies to construction and manufacturing, or a mechanic, like my grandad; but did you know it also applies to sharing your faith? Having the right tool when we share our faith can give us the boldness we all need to step out to talk to people about Jesus. Now what might be some of those tools in your witnessing toolbox? Well, in a study Barna Research conducted, they found that 51% of churchgoers were not familiar with the term “The Great Commission”; another 25% had heard of it, but couldn’t recall the meaning, and only 17% knew what it meant and could articulate it. Now, what does this mean? Well frankly, it's not good. As our culture moves further away from a Christian worldview, it will be more important that we as believers are able and willing to, “go and make disciples.” Jesus declares in the book of Matthew that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Do you want to see more Christians equipped to be able to go into the harvest field? Has someone moved into your neighborhood this summer? I was surprised to learn recently that 8.4 percent of Americans move annually. And that means about 39 million people will move this year. And 80 percent of those moves take place between April and Labor Day. So guess what that means? We have a great opportunity to walk over with a plate of cookies or a pie and welcome our new neighbors to the neighborhood. While chatting, you could ask if they’re looking for a new church home; and if so, suggest yours. Tell them what it’s like. You can even offer to give them a ride or to meet them at the church to sit together. If they have children, make sure they know something about your church’s children and youth activities. Parents often choose a church with their children in mind. So let's be welcoming neighbors and pray for the Holy Spirit's leading in every conversation. Here’s an example of intentional witnessing. Nou and two other ladies from her church attended an evangelism training event. This was Nou’s text the day after the training. “Our flight was cancelled so that God could lead us to talk to the manager of the hotel and share the Gospel with him. He prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior.” And then a few months later, another text from Nou said, “I witnessed to sixteen of my nieces and nephews at my family reunion—ranging from age from nine to twenty-nine. Ten of them prayed to receive Christ.” And then there was yet another text: “We attended a soccer tournament and got to witness to ten people. Two people prayed to receive Christ.“ That’s what happens when someone learns how to share their faith. They see opportunities that are all around them and can't help but share their faith! What’s your understanding of salvation? Well, for far too many of us, our thoughts of salvation have been reduced to something like raising our hand at the altar call, "accepting Jesus", and then making God a part of our lives to help us and to bless us. Well, not only does this rob God of His due glory, we rob ourselves of the real blessing and fulfillment that comes from subverting our will to His—making Him Lord of our life. Jesus didn't die on the cross to simply give us a “get out of Hell free card”; He died to restore us to Him and to completely transform us to be like Him. We have work to do while we live out our days here! In fact, Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are specifically created to do good works that God has planned for us. Does Evangelism still work? Are gone the great days of revival? These are questions that a lot of Christians are asking; and quite frankly, they're the wrong questions. You see, we should be asking, WHO can I share the Good News of the Gospel with? And that's just what Julie did. She was discipled to share her faith and then set out to do it. She told us that she didn't have some grand speech planned or some amazing icebreaker. She simply had the tools that she needed to share the Gospel—and then, she did it. And you know what? Not only did she share her faith, she was able to lead a woman to saving faith in Jesus just because she was obedient to Jesus' commandment to go out and share the Gospel! How are you doing at loving your neighbor as yourself lately? Today, as always, we are to love others as Jesus has commanded us to do. Not only do our actions contribute, but so do our thoughts toward our neighbors. Now, I know you may be thinking, “No one can read minds, so what does it matter what I think about someone as long as I am nice?” Well, it matters a lot! Jesus told us to first love the Lord with all our hearts and then, love our neighbors as ourselves. So how are you doing on that? In your thoughts? …words? …actions? If we consider others better than ourselves, like we're told to do in Philippians 2, then we will be well on our way to loving people the way Jesus commanded us to. "Who is my neighbor?" Do you remember the time an expert in Jewish Law asked Jesus this question in Luke chapter 10? And what was Jesus' response? Well, Jesus shared a parable about a man who was beaten and left half dead on the side of the road. Both a priest and a Levite passed by and did nothing to help. But a Samaritan man—viewed as an enemy to Israelites—stopped and took care of the hurt man. Jesus asked, "Which of these three was a neighbor to the hurt man?" And the expert correctly answered, "The one who had mercy on Him." And guess what? We are to do likewise. Jesus commanded us to have mercy and love even our enemies. And one of the greatest ways we can do this is to share the hope and peace that’s found only in Jesus. When we share the Gospel with others, we are loving our neighbors. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” This famous passage from Matthew 19 shows us Jesus' heart — God loves the little children of the world. And He wants to have a personal relationship with them! You know, we have an opportunity in our communities and families to share the hope that’s found in the Gospel with our children. This past December in Honduras, Susan, who’s part of our team, and her group traveled to teach a condensed version of a program called Hope for Kids to churches located there. Hundreds and hundreds of children in a poverty-stricken area heard the Gospel and gave their hearts to Jesus. They also learned how they can clearly share it with their friends as well! James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father..." Did you know you have a unique talent that you can bring to the body of Christ? It's true—we all have different God-given gifts that are important and can be used for God's Kingdom. And we should use these as faithful servants of God's grace to serve others as Peter reminds us in first Peter chapter four. We were given them for a distinct purpose of bringing glory to God and sharing His love. For example, let’s say you are a great cook, consider using those skills to prepare meals for those going through a difficult time and offer them that’s hope found only in Christ. I knew a sand-sculptor who crafted sculptures related to the Gospel on the beach and stood around to talk to people about them. "In all of my years of service to my Lord, I have discovered a truth that has never failed and has never been compromised. That truth is that it is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to out give God. Even if I give the whole of my worth to Him, He will find a way to give back to me much more than I gave." Have you ever heard those words before? They were penned by the famous preacher, Charles Hayden Spurgeon. And his words could not be more true—we cannot out give God! All the treasure of this world is His anyway. And when we start looking at our money as God's, generosity takes a whole new level of meaning. Let me encourage you today to start to seek ways you can give the resources God has given you to further His kingdom here on earth. Businessman Harvey Mackay famously wrote, "Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back." You know, the Word of God tells us the very same thing throughout its many books—that time is precious and should be used wisely. The Author of Time has given us each moment to be used for a purpose. So let me ask you, what are you spending your time on? If you've put your trust in Jesus, one day you’re going to have eternity to spend with Him. But there’s one thing very important that you can't do anymore for His kingdom, and that is to share the Gospel with a person who doesn't yet know Him. Today, we're coming to the final day of learning an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation. We’ve been using the five fingers of our hand as our learning aid. Picture the smallest finger on your hand - it's going to represent faith. GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST, and FAITH. FAITH, in a Biblical sense, is the means whereby people make a personal response to the Gospel. Saving faith isn’t simply head knowledge about Jesus. Many know about Jesus, but have never experienced saving faith. Saving faith is also not just “temporary faith,” trusting in Jesus for health, safety, finances. Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and it's necessary for salvation. Today we are going to learn an easy to remember Gospel presentation. Our pattern to share the Gospel is based on five main words – GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST, and FAITH and we are pairing each one with a finger of our hand as a learning aid. Today we’ll focus on the fourth word - picture your ring finger and think of the Bridegroom because today’s word is CHRIST. Jesus Christ is both God and Man. John’s Gospel opens with this emphasis, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” While Jesus had many great accomplishments, there’s no doubt about His most important: He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin…and rose from the dead to prove He has purchased a place in Heaven for us. This week we’re learning an easy to remember Gospel presentation. And we’re using the five fingers of our hand as a learning aid. Today we’ll focus on word 3 – GOD, and picture your middle finger – the longest, greatest finger representing the greatest being in all the universe which we know to be God. Of the many aspects of God’s character, we’ll emphasize two: First, God is MERCIFUL and doesn’t want to punish us. The Bible tells us that “God is love.” But the same Bible that teaches us that He is love, also teach us that He is JUST and He cannot tolerate our sin. In Exodus 34:7, God says, "by no means will I clear the guilty." This presents a problem. Notice that I did not say God has a problem. The problem is ours. How would you like to learn an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation? Using the five fingers of your hand, we’re going to put one word to each finger. The five words are GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST and FAITH. We’ll look at one word for each day this week. Word number one is GRACE – picture your thumb pointing toward Heaven. Grace, heaven, eternal life, is a gift. Romans six twenty three says, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And, like any gift, it is not earned or deserved. The Bible tells us that we’re saved through faith, not works. What a relief! Every other religion teaches that people must earn their way to Heaven, but not Christianity. Christianity alone proclaims that God’s favor and entrance into heaven are absolutely free to us because of Jesus' sacrifice. So, word number one of the Gospel is GRACE. And we need it desperately. "Trusting in what Jesus has done for me has brought me peace, hope and a future I can feel joyful about." Michele penned these words in her testimony on what's my story dot org. Before she had eternal life, Michele dealt with a lot of guilt and shame that caused her great anxiety and depression. But someone invited her to church where she heard the Gospel; and that day, her life was changed forever as she accepted Jesus as her Savior. And you know what? There are a lot of Michele's out there, looking for hope. And we know the source of all hope—Jesus Christ, who through his sacrifice on the cross offers us eternal life. Billy Graham so famously said, "True prayer is a way of life, not just for use in cases of emergency. Make it a habit, and when the need arises you’ll be in practice." As we work through the means of spiritual growth this week, I wanted to encourage you to start with prayer. Is it a habit for you? Are you lifting up others in your families, circles, communities, cities, and nation to God? Prayer is one of the greatest privileges of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible is God speaking to us, but prayer is us speaking to God. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." You’re probably very familiar with this verse! However, we couldn't leave a Scripture memory week without sharing John 3:16. This verse has reached so many hearts with the love of God and the sacrifice of His Son for us. "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." John 3:16 shares that if we place our trust fully and completely in Jesus, He gives us the free gift of eternal life. Wow. Even almost thirty years into my walk with God, that still fills my heart with joy and wonder. That the Creator of the universe loved us so much to send His Son to die in our place...as a father, there are no words to describe the magnitude of that gift. Join us in memorizing John 3:16 today. What would you say has been the most formative thing that you were told as a child? Did a parent instruct you "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you..."? Did a grandparent say, "If you don't work, you don't eat?" Whatever it might be, as a child of God—it works just the same. The Words our Creator God gave us in the Bible changes us and helps us live a righteous life in obedience to Him. And through our obedience to grow in Him, we experience the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And as we let God's Word instruct us on how to live, we’re transformed to be more and more like Jesus. So join us today as we memorize 2 Corinthians 5:20, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God." As we continue our Scripture memory challenge this week, I want to explore another reason why it's important to hide God's Word in our heart: knowing Scripture helps you help others. We live in a world full of opinions and voices. And the truth is, our opinions can't change any one. Praise God we have the Holy Spirit living in our hearts, and HE can change lives. And God's Word also stirs the hearts of people, as the Bible tells us in Hebrews, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." So today, let's memorize together Ephesians 5:1-2, "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us..." Why is it so important to memorize Scripture? Well honestly, there are too many reasons to list in this short minute. But one of key reasons is because it changes us from the inside out. Isaiah 55 shares with us that God's Word never returns void but "it will accomplish what [God desires] and achieve the purpose for which [He] sent it." So this week, we will be walking through five days of scripture memory challenges with you to help you hide God's Word in your heart. Today's verse is Galatians 2:20: "I’ve been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." This verse reminds us not only of the sacrifice that Christ has made on the cross for us but also the calling He has for us as his children. We live for Christ. Hope is that essential element for continued effort toward any great goal. “My flesh,” said David in Psalm 16, “...will rest in hope." Can you say that? Well, it depends upon your faith, because faith looks back and anchors itself to the Cross and gives us a hope, which looks forward to a crown. “Hope is never ill when faith is well,” said the extraordinary John Bunyan. Even William Shakespeare said, “My hope in Heaven dwell.” Jesus Christ has given to us the only real and substantial hope that this world knows. He told us in John fourteen, “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. And I go to prepare a place for you...” And when we place our trust in Jesus, the moment we pass from this world to the next, we will be glorified and see this promise fulfilled. "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Have you ever heard this famous Biblical passage before? You know, it's called the Great Commission, and it's Christ's final command to us before He returned to Heaven. Unfortunately, it can be something that Christians ignore for a number of reasons. One of them is that we get involved in all kinds of seemingly good things that keep us all too busy. Jim Collins wrote a widely used book in the business world that opens with this statement, “Good is the enemy of great.” And so many times we get involved in all kinds of good things; and yet, they are not the great thing that we could be doing in seeing men and women come to Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 tells us, "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified..." And this brings us to our theological word of the day: sanctification. It's the process after we come to saving faith in Jesus where we are made more like Christ. This continues until we are called home to Heaven. It's like an artist chiseling a beautiful sculpture. Through much of the process, it's messy and difficult—as the creator chisels away at the stone to make a priceless piece of art. This is what Christ does to those who put their trust in Him alone! He creates in us a pure heart as He guides our path. And we become more like Jesus through reading His Word and responding, spending time in prayer, telling others the Gospel, being in fellowship with other Christians, and worshipping our amazing God. This week, we will be diving into some big, theological words in the Christian faith, and they’re important because they teach us more about our faith and what Jesus has done for us. Today's is justification. What does it mean? Imagine yourself in a courtroom being tried for all the sins that you’ve committed. The Bible tells us clearly the punishment for our sin..."For the wages of sin is death..." However, when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are justified. In that moment, the gavel comes crashing down...but the guilt and punishment are now accounted to Jesus. He took our sin on Himself and gave us His righteousness. So instead of being guilty, we are now clean. This is justification—“just as if I’ve not sinned”. Throughout the course of human history, there have been many corrupt kings. But humanity has continually sought a perfect ruler who will bring peace to our communities and our lives. However, a fallen people enslaved to sin has never been able to produce anyone able to do this. And more than ever, our culture deals with anxiety, depression, and great fear about the future. But did you know, that once we put our trust in Jesus, we personally know the King of Kings? Ephesians 1 tells us that after His resurrection and ascension to heaven, Jesus was seated at the "right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule, authority, power and dominion..." (Ephesians 1:20–21) Our everlasting King Jesus is powerful! "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Therefore, we will not fear..." These powerful verses from Psalm forty-six remind us of a key truth found throughout God's Word—when we become a child of God, Jesus is our refuge. In fact, the last thing Jesus told His disciples before He ascended into heaven was, "...surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." There may be many things we fear or battle. In the New Testament, Jesus performs miracle after miracle, healing on the lame, the sick, and the blind. He even raised His friend Lazarus from the dead! Christ has the power to heal us physically; but, you know, the biggest miracle of all is that Jesus can also heal us spiritually. Psalms 103 says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not his benefits, He forgives all of our iniquity, who heals all of our disease..." Physical illness is one of the awful side effects of sin coming into the world in the Garden of Eden. And the curse of sin has caused this world and everything in it to decay. But Jesus has compassion for the sick and the hurting. Through His death on the cross, He offers anyone who puts their trust wholly, firmly in Him healing from their sin and complete healing one day in Heaven. When we share our faith with another person, it's always important to ask not only if they want to accept Jesus as their Savior but also as their Lord. After Jesus' resurrection, He appeared to His disciples before ascending into Heaven and told them in, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me." You see, Jesus is God—He is part of the trinity—and as such, He has dominion and power over everything. And, you know, we should find security that our all-powerful, almighty God has this authority in our lives. You know, I always find it helpful to picture driving a car. When Jesus comes into our life, we don't give Him the passenger seat or the back seat or the trunk! If He is truly our Lord, we need to ask Him to sit in the driver's seat and drive. In Matthew 16:13-16, Jesus had asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Well, they replied that some thought he was one of the prophets. And when Jesus asked them who they thought He was, Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” And you know, to this day, people are still asking that very question: "Who is Jesus?" And being that Jesus is God, the answer to that question is too big to answer in one minute or an hour or a day. But today, I'd like to start with this: that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. He came from Heaven to earth, lived an absolutely perfect life, and died on the cross for our sins. He rose from the dead, and is in Heaven now, offering the free gift of eternal life to anyone who will put their full trust in Him. Jesus is our Savior! When you have a personal encounter with the risen Savior, everything changes. What matters to us is different. What we spend our time doing changes. Jesus commissioned us before he ascended into heaven, "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations!" And we need to be about the Father's business now, before it's too late! Ron was a missionary and went out with his team to a very remote village in Nigeria. And they saw five elderly men sitting on a wall, and one of the men said, "Come tell us about God!” Ron joyfully shared the Gospel with them. And that day, all five men prayed to receive Jesus and the gift of eternal life. Afterwards, one of the men asked Ron, “How long have you known about this Jesus?” Well, Ron started to count up the number of years. If you know Jesus, you know that salvation is just the beginning of a lifetime leaning on your Savior. God is not finished with us yet! There are five means of spiritual growth that every Christian needs, and I encourage you to come alongside another believer to help them in their walk with Christ. The first is to read your Bible daily! Even just a chapter a day. Start with the Gospel of John and go from there. Secondly, prayer is vital for spiritual growth. We’ve been given access to God anytime, anywhere through prayer. Worshiping God during both alone time spent with Him and in corporate worship at church will draw you nearer to Him. Then, fellowship! Spend time sharing what God is doing in your life with other believers, and encourage one another. Lastly, witness. What is a mentor? Well, according to the dictionary, it is "a trusted counselor or guide." If you are mentoring someone in how to be a better cook, you don't just tell them how. You show them by standing next to them in the kitchen while they cook! This is exactly how we disciple others as Christians. Jesus shows us the perfect example in Mark 3 and Luke 6. When we compare these passages, we see that Jesus spent an entire night on a mountain in prayer; and that when He came down “He appointed the twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.” It was in the process of “being with Him” that they learned ministry and caught His vision. And then, they followed in His footsteps. We do this very thing in EE through On The Job Training, where we take our trainees out and share the Gospel with them. When we look at what it means to be a mentor, there is no greater example than Jesus Himself. In fact, Jesus did not only mentor the apostles but also at least seventy-two others believers. You can find this story in Luke 10:1 where it says, "After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place where he was about to go." Now Jesus had some specific objectives when sending these believers out before Him. He didn't just say, "Go!" He took time to teach them and prepare them for the hard journey ahead. He told them that they would be like lambs among wolves and shared with them specific ways they could know how and where to share the Gospel. Today, I want to tell you about Vincent Wanjala. He started as a field worker with EE in 1998 and hails from Kenya. Now, I remember distinctly in 2014 when Vincent boarded a boat to the remote island off the coast of Africa. On the island, Vincent and his EE team faced tough conditions in order to hold a weeklong evangelism training. Vincent told me later, “What was important was not the dangerous boat ride, threatening rains or sleepless mosquito nights, but the many people that made professions of faith in Jesus Christ that week.” You know today, Vincent has served twenty-five years in ministry and personally trained over fifteen thousand pastors how to disciple Christians to share the Gospel. Only God knows how many millions of people have come to saving faith in Jesus through the work of this faithful servant. This is a testimony of the power and result behind God’s calling! Do you know that you’ve been called by God to missions? Now, you might be thinking, "John, I support missionaries, but I couldn't be one!" EE’s founder, Dr. D. James Kennedy, wanted desperately to be a missionary to Africa. He tried so hard to be placed there; but at the last minute, he was told that due to health reasons he couldn't go. He realized he couldn't be a missionary overseas. God instead led him to pastor a tiny little church plant in Florida where God gave him an outline and program to help disciple His congregation to share their faith. And in 1996, that discipleship program had traveled to every single nation on the earth, and the Gospel was changing lives. Think about the closest relationship that you have. Whether it's your spouse, sibling, parent, or friend, what’s the biggest conflict that happened between you? The truth is that sometimes we don't even see eye to eye with those we’re closest to. And the same principle happens in church. Because each of us are unique, we complete the beautiful body of Christ and help it grow in love and impact—furthering God's kingdom here on earth. But if we let our differences breed conflict, then we’re letting the enemy win. Satan rejoices when God's children turn on each other. First Corinthians sixteen encourages us to "stand firm in the faith; and be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." Unity is realizing that despite our differences, we as Christians have one important thing in common: we put our trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone for salvation. As a body of Christ, we need each other. Paul was very clear when he wrote in Ephesians 4:16 that we’re "joined and held together by every supporting ligament, [which] grows and builds itself up in love, with each one doing its work." Now I, for one, am so grateful for the team Christ has given us at EE. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells His disciples, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.” This important verse teaches us something—we must be led by the Spirit. In fact, sharing the Gospel without the Holy Spirit's help would be pure folly. It is the Spirit that moves in people's hearts in regards to salvation. We have the blessing of being the messenger; but in and of ourselves, we can’t save anyone. Only God can do that. It is so important that we ask the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide us. This past August, there was a children's evangelism training in Canada where pastors and lay leaders learned how to share the Gospel with and disciple the youngest of their congregations! The participants of this event spanned eight churches of different denominations. At the end of the long week of training, the Romanian Baptist Church where the event was held had a community outreach. The children from the outreach along with the children invited from the eight different churches all got to hear the Gospel. This merging of nine congregations was very special, and they had two different events united to share the Good News! And it doesn't stop there—two months after the children’s evangelism training, one of the graduates, using what they learned at the training, was able to share the Gospel with the children at their daughter's birthday party. Proverbs 22 famously says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; and even when he is old he will not depart from it." In Indonesia this past year through a program called EE4Generations, more than one thousand young leaders have been discipled in how to share the Gospel and teach others to do the same. Recently, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Josue and his team comprised of pastors and lay people went into a village after being discipled in how they could share the Gospel. Josue was led by the Spirit to the home of Yusufu, who was a devout Muslim. As soon as Josue saw the black mark on his forehead, he wanted to ask his team members to pass the home by. But he felt the Spirit say, "Don't — enter in and share the Gospel with him." Yusufu welcomed them enthusiastically. As the team shared about Jesus, Yusufu began to argue back about Jesus' identity and divinity since Christ is viewed differently in the Muslim faith. However, the more they talked and showed him Scripture, the more he wanted to hear. And at the end of their time, Yusufu accepted Jesus as His Savior and thanked them for bringing him the true way to eternal life. The word "Gospel" translated from the original Greek literally means "good message" or "good news!" Well what has to happen in order to share good news? Well, we have to actually impart it to others. You see, many Christians believe that they can share the Gospel merely through their actions. They do their best to live out what they believe. And that's wonderful! We absolutely should walk out our faith. We don't want to be a hypocrite that looks no different than the world. The Gospel’s changed us, Jesus has saved us, and we should live it out! But we can't stop there. The message will be unclear—un-understood—if we don't take the time to tell others about it. First Peter two nine tells us, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." How we think about the Gospel impacts firsthand if we share it or not. Do we really view it as Good News? What does the Gospel mean to us? Well, when Jesus came back to Nazareth during His ministry, he visited the synagogue, where He read from the scroll of Isaiah. And Jesus then fulfilled the very prophecy he read: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” When we acknowledge that the Gospel is the way to heal our land, bring freedom to captives, and give a treasure of matchless worth to the poor, our actions change quite dramatically. So then let’s bring this Good News to the poor, sick, and hurting world around us. The Gospel is the answer. And it is Good News for all who hear it! Years ago, my neighbor's wife asked him for a divorce. I saw how much he was hurting. So one night, I told him, “Bill, I put my trust in Jesus, and it completely changed my life. It's the most important decision I've ever made. And Jesus can do impossible things—even heal broken marriages.” Bill looked at me and said, “Either you’re a liar, or you hate me.” Well, I was really taken back. He said, “You know, you’ve lived next to me for 5 years and never said anything about Jesus. If this really changed your life and can change mine, well then why haven’t you told me?” I begged him for forgiveness—and then I shared with him about Jesus. Bill put his trust in Christ and it changed his life too. Let’s not to buy into the lie that no one wants to hear the Good News. The Gospel is powerful and essential. John Piper said, "The Gospel is the Good News that the everlasting and ever-increasing joy of the never-boring, ever-satisfying Christ is ours freely and eternally by faith in the sin-forgiving death and hope-giving resurrection of Jesus Christ." So why is it that nowadays there are many churches who act like this Good News isn’t that important to share? Well, many Christians have bought into the lie from the enemy that sharing will lead to angry confrontation. So we then neglect to share the very Good News that has changed our lives. We convince ourselves that no one wants to hear it. Well, let me encourage you with this today: I’ve shared the Gospel worldwide to people of all different backgrounds, cultures, and ages. Every testimony is important. Now for some of us, we came to have a relationship with Christ later on in life. We have a clear "before" and "after" story about when Jesus came into our hearts. But did you know, this is not the only testimony that God uses? If you grew up knowing Jesus from a very young age, I want you to know that your story matters too. You know, it's often thought that these are "less powerful" ones because they’re not full of drastic and sudden change. However, it’s not the case at all! You have a lifetime of stories sharing the benefits of having a relationship with Christ. Lois says that Jesus is her friend and Savior. Because she is naturally a shy person, she doesn't tend to meet others easily. But God has placed a handful of meaningful friends in her life who help her to grow in her walk with Jesus. What is a testimony? Well, it is a public profession and outward expression of our inner faith. And it should be shared boldly because, frankly, it’s powerful. Revelation 12:11 says that we will defeat the enemy by “the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.” So how important is it that we share! This past month, Edmund did just that on www.whatsmystory.org. He shared that before he accepted Jesus Christ that he always felt that there was a huge void in his life. He felt lonely than in those days. A few years later, a colleague shared with Edmund the Gospel and led him to accept Jesus Christ. And he says that it was the best decision of his life. Even in these hard days where many lives are filled with fear and worry, Edmund has an inner peace that passes all understanding from knowing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Do you realize that you have an extremely powerful tool that can help bring people to saving faith in Jesus Christ? It’s your testimony! And they come in all shapes and sizes, but what they have in common is that they tell of God's faithfulness and grace in each of our lives. Take Isaac from Myanmar, for example. Before he received eternal life (despite the fact that he looked outwardly confident), Isaac always felt uncertain about his life and was anxious for the future. He even went to church every Sunday, attended Sunday school, and participated in church activities; but he didn't know Christ personally. Then, someone shared with Isaac how he could receive eternal life, and everything changed. Now, twenty-three years later, Isaac still has the peace and contentment that he felt even that first day of coming to Christ. He no longer has any fear of what will happen to him—even if it’s death. Do you realize that God has given you a story to tell? We often refer to it as a testimony but I prefer to call it “your story.” If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, your story of how God saved you and changed you counts. I hope that’s obvious to you. But as I travel the world, I’m often amazed at how many Christians don’t think their story counts for much of anything. I hope you’re not one of those people who thinks their story is lackluster or “no big deal” because that just doesn’t line-up with Scripture. In Revelation 12 verse 11, it says, “And they have defeated him (meaning Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” According to that verse, your testimony is an incredibly valuable and powerful witnessing tool. You know that noise your smoke detector makes when it needs new batteries? It causes some annoyance and anxiety, doesn’t it? No one wants to be around that screeching! You know, sometimes we can be just like that loud noise that no one wants to hear. The Apostle Paul says we can do very good things, but if our words are not spoken out of love, it’s just a bunch of noise.
So what is love? Now, I’m not talking about romantic love. That’s a fleeting emotion that won’t be consistent throughout time – it’s certainly not unconditional. I am talking about the unwavering, unconditional love of God. First John says we love because He first loved us. Without the love of Jesus, we’ll never know what true love is. Why do we traditionally use diamonds in wedding rings? Well, it's because of that age-old phrase, "A diamond is forever." They symbolize the never-ending love that a couple vows to one another. Now, truthfully, diamonds do not last forever...yes, they are sturdy rocks, but all things on earth decay or break. You know what is forever? The eternal, never-ending love of God. Once we put our trust in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation, we gain a priceless relationship with God. And it is eternal. His love for us will never end. In Isaiah 54:10, God tells us, "'For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. Do you realize that God is in the business of reconciliation? After coming to know the Lord, Sunny and Roshna learned to share their faith through EE classes and immediately began sharing the Gospel. They were converted to Jesus from their former religion, and do you know where they started sharing the Gospel? Well, at their former place of worship! Roshna said as they shared their testimony, you could hear a pin drop! The name of Jesus was being preached, with love, in a place His Name had never been. If that’s not bridging the gap, I don’t know what is! Jesus’ love bridges the gap between our sinfulness and God’s righteousness. Aren’t you glad that through Him, we can have Eternal Life because He made a way for us? There are so many stories in the Bible where Jesus urges us to bridge the gap and reconcile sinners to God. Happy Valentine's Day! Whether you celebrate this day of love or not, it is a great opportunity to ask those around you, "What would you say true love is?" You’ll get many answers in return and an opportunity to ask them, "Can I tell you about how I have found the greatest love I have ever experienced?" This can lead to a spiritual conversation where you cashare your testimony of when you received Christ and understood God’s love. His love is different from human affection because it is unconditional, sacrificial, and never-ending. It also never fails. He showed it clearly through sending His only Son to earth to live the perfect life we couldn't and die in our place. Through His sacrifice, we have an opportunity to accept what He has done and be forgiven of all of our sins. What an amazing gift! And He offers it to all who would believe. How would you like to learn an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation? Using the five fingers of your hand, we’re going to put one word to each finger. The five words are GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST and FAITH. We’ll look at one word for each day this week. Word number one is GRACE – picture your thumb pointing toward Heaven. Grace, heaven, eternal life, is a gift. Romans 6:23 says, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And, like any gift, it is not earned or deserved. The Bible tells us that we’re saved through faith, not works. What a relief! Every other religion teaches that people must earn their way to Heaven, but not Christianity. Christianity alone proclaims that God’s favor and entrance into heaven are absolutely free to us because of Jesus' sacrifice. So, word number one of the Gospel is GRACE. And we need it desperately. Why do we share the Gospel? Well, the simplest answer is because Jesus told us to. After He showed Himself to the disciples and many others after His resurrection, He left them with the Great Commission. "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Christ gave every follower of His a purpose before ascending to heaven—He called us to go and tell people the Good News of the Gospel. And through people coming to know Him, Christians are formed and begin to grow in their faith. What a privilege and calling we have! And the best news is we don't have to do it alone. Charles Spurgeon said, "Some Christians try to go to heaven alone, in solitude. But, you know, believers are not compared to bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep in this respect, that they love to get together. Sheep go in flocks, and so do God's people." We will not be able to grow in fellowship until we first develop our minds and spirits to be committed to fellowship. In Philippians 2:3, Paul tells us, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourself." And this is exactly how we should think concerning other believers. We need to cultivate thoughts of valuing them. And we need to prioritize edifying and encouraging them. Corrie Ten Boom said, "When a Christian shuns fellowship with other Christians, the devil smiles." Meeting together with your local church—which is an extension of the church worldwide—is so very important. Each local church is unique in that it’s both the process and product of the experience of Christian fellowship. That is, the local church is both the place where fellowship is developed and expressed and an example of our Christian fellowship to the world. And there are many ways our fellowship in Christ can be nurtured through the local church. In Acts 2, we see an example of believers meeting together to break "bread in their homes," and they "ate together with glad and sincere hearts." What a picture to their community of how Jesus brings us, His children, together in unity. In 1 Corinthians, Paul uses the imagery of a body to paint the picture of what the church should look like. If the entire body of Christ was made up of just ears, what could we do? Well, we would be really, really good at listening, but not much else. We couldn't reach out with a hand to help or go anywhere with our legs. And if we didn't have ankles and wrists and shoulders, it wouldn't much matter that we had feet and arms…! And anyone who has ever broken their big toe knows it's almost impossible to walk...just by missing one toe! Now, it may seem like I'm being silly, but there are important truths to this. You see, we need each other. And we need the church to serve together. And every believer is important to the work Jesus has given us. Charles Spurgeon said, "Satan always hates Christian fellowship; it is his policy to keep Christians apart. Anything which can divide saints from one another he delights in.” You know, our fellowship together results from our belonging individually to God through faith in Jesus Christ alone. His Spirit has come to live in us, and He provides for us a strong unity with one another. Ephesians 4:3 says, "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Let's not buy into the lie that meeting together as believers is not important. Instead, let's prioritize coming together and edifying one another in the works that God has given us to do as the church. That’s accountability! When it comes to worshipping God, our heart matters. Our worship in a community of believers will only be as beneficial as our attitudes are sincere. Scripture gives us numerous "attitude checkpoints" by which we can examine our hearts to make certain that we are ready for worship. John wrote in John 4 that "a time [...]has now come when true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." And if the Spirit is in us, He will convict us and grow us as we worship God through Him. Our humble cry should be, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Our humble, joyful, attentive attitudes in worship matter to God. So as we meet together with our church this weekend, let's come with the right attitude and worship our amazing Lord in Spirit and truth. Central to every worship service should be the reading and proclaiming of the Word of God. This part of worship is non-negotiable—we need to be filling ourselves up with more of the Bible. When we hear Scripture as part of our community worship, we hear what God would say through His servant to comfort, encourage, warn, and rebuke us. And this truly demands our solemn attention. In Nehemiah 8, we see an example of the Word of God being preached in a worship service. Ezra, the priest, read the Law of God from daybreak until noon, and the people of God listened attentively. It says that at the end of Ezra's reading, "[he] praised the Lord, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” They then bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground." Let us also be a people who value God's Word and worship Him when we hear it. Do you like to sing praises to God? Now, I know some of us aren't professional singers, but singing is an important part of Christian worship. Paul said that when we’re filled with the Holy Spirit, singing will come naturally as an expression of our joy. In Ephesians 15:19, Paul writes, "be filled with the Spirit [...] singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart." You know, King David is a perfect example of the Holy Spirit causing us to worship through song. And as a leader, he was very concerned about the people of God singing in their worship services. Our hymns of worship should have a singular purpose to them: and that is to thank and praise the Lord for all He has done. He truly is worthy of all our praise! So what are we waiting for? The auditorium was packed. As I stopped and looked around, I heard dozens of languages being spoken at the same time. We all settled into our seats as our time together was called to order. This was Evangelism Explosion's third Congress of Nations, and eighty-three different countries were represented. During that morning, we sang "How Great is Our God" (which is a powerful song in and of itself), but this time the worship leader asked for everyone to sing in their own language. Words cannot describe the beauty of that moment—where Arabic was sung alongside Czech and Fijian. And you know, this is exactly what heaven is going to be like—because every tongue, every tribe, and every nation will be there. As we join in worship here on earth, let us invite people to be a part of this eternal worship group by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ! As we look this week at how we can grow spiritually through worship, we should consider how many of the Psalms were originally written for Jewish worship services. In Psalm 95, we read that we worship God because He is the "great King." "In His hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The seas are His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land." And because God made this world and everything in it, the psalmist instructs us that we should bow down in worship and "kneel before the Lord our Maker." And it always leaves me in awe when I think about how our Creator has also created a way to redeem us from our sins—that the Creator Himself became a man to live a perfect life, to die on the cross for our sins. There is a power in agreement when we pray in Jesus’ name. Christ said in Matthew eighteen, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” And later, His disciple John wrote, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." Praying with others powerfully effects both us and the person we’re praying with, as we seek God's will in our lives. It's also a great way to open the door to a spiritual conversation. I ask waiters, cab drivers, and store clerks all over the world how I can pray for them, and almost all of them give me their requests. I then offer to go before God right then and there if they are able to join me. This has started many Gospel conversations that God has used to bring men and women into His family. Did you know there is great power in prayer? That might be something you've heard of, but knowing this is not enough...we actually have to experience it! The power of prayer is that our strong and loving Heavenly Father listens to us and responds! It is so vital in our relationship with Him to actually communicate. Jesus knew the importance found in seeking the Father. In Luke 5:16, the Bible says that "Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." Christ Himself needed a break from the demands of His busy life to recharge and spend time with His Father. George Mueller was a great man of faith. He lived in such a way that the Word of God directed his life, including his incredible work of taking care of thousands of orphans by faith. He actually wrote down in his diary every occurrence that happened as God supernaturally answered his prayers. He received over a million pounds sterling for the support of his orphanages without ever once telling a single person outside the institutions of their needs. He believed that God still provides for those who trust Him and obey Him—and guess what? God did. And this is how we live by faith and see the Scriptures come alive in our life—by placing our trust in God that He will provide and answer our prayers. And when we hide God's Word in our heart, we can pray those Scriptures and deepen our faith daily. And when we do, God becomes the center of our whole life. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." When we apply this powerful verse to the area of reading our Bibles—we see that we do so not only to acquire knowledge of God and His ways but also to be guided in our lives by His will and His mind. We must come to the Bible in a prayerful spirit. We’re reading it with the intention of having God address us. We can pray along with the Psalmist, “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” and also plead the promise of Ezekiel 36:27 that He will cause us to walk in His statutes. We are learners from the moment we’re born until the day we die. We are instructed, shaped, and conditioned by processes that we may hardly notice. We learn attitudes, outlooks, values, and understandings of our world, of ourselves, and of others from a myriad of sources—such as parents, peers, friends, significant others, communities, and culture. They all have a part in shaping us. Now, not all that we learn from these sources will bear the stamp of the Kingdom of God. And that’s why God’s Word is so important to us as new creations in Christ. The Word of God is about life in another Kingdom. And learning to live as people who belong to the Kingdom of God in a broken world is a constant challenge. We need the God’s Word to "be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind[s]," as Paul tells us in Romans. The Bible is the most widely distributed book—and also the least read. There are millions of professing believers who have not yet discovered the joy and spiritual benefits of digging deeply into the Word of God. It is an inexhaustible treasure trove of wisdom. From the opening chapters of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation, the God of the Bible is the God who speaks. And He uses His Word as a primary means to do so in our lives. So, if we are not seeking to hear God's voice through reading the Bible, we are missing out on some major growth in our Christian walk. Today is the day to begin growing in this area! The last commandment that Christ gave was that we were to go and make disciples to all nations. He also challenges us to be salt and light—salt in that we keep the culture from utterly corrupting; light in that we bring into the darkness of men’s mind the light of the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. All He asks from us is that we trust Him. So before you write down your newest resolution, let me encourage you—pray for God's leading in your life. What's your goal this coming new year? The number one New Year’s resolution people typically make is focused on physical health. But how is your spiritual health? Just like exercise helps your overall health as we become more fit, we need discipline in our walk with God to become spiritually healthy. God doesn't want us to remain stagnant in our relationship with Him. He wants us to grow! And one of the ways we can do this is by centering our lives around Him. Just like we make time for people who are most important to us—to talk with them, hear their hearts, encourage them and share our thoughts with them—God wants the same. To deepen our connection and relationship with Him, we need to speak to Him! And we can do this through prayer. Today, we’re coming to the final day of learning an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation. We’ve been using the five fingers of our hand as our learning aid. Picture the smallest finger on your hand – it’s going to represent faith. Grace, Man, God and Christ, Faith. Faith, in a Biblical sense, is the means whereby people make a personal response to the Gospel. Saving faith isn’t simply head knowledge about Jesus. Many know about Jesus, but have never experienced saving faith. Saving faith is also not just “temporary faith,” trusting in Jesus for health, safety, finances. Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and it’s necessary for salvation. Today we are going to learn an easy to remember Gospel presentation. Our pattern to share the Gospel is based on five main words – Grace, Man, God, Christ, and Faith and we are pairing each one with a finger of our hand as a learning aid. Today we’ll focus on the fourth word – picture your ring finger and think of the Bridegroom because today’s word is CHRIST. Jesus Christ is both God and Man. John’s Gospel opens with this emphasis, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” While Jesus had many great accomplishments, there’s no doubt about His most important: He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin…and rose from the dead to prove He has purchased a place in Heaven for us. This week we’re learning an easy to remember Gospel presentation. And we’re using the five fingers of our hand as a learning aid. Today we’ll focus on Word 3 – God, and picture your middle finger – the longest, greatest finger representing the greatest being in all the universe which we know to be God. Of the many aspects of God’s character, we’ll emphasize two: First, God is MERCIFUL and doesn’t want to punish us. The Bible tells us that “God is love.” But the same Bible that teaches us that He is love, also teach us that He is JUST and He cannot tolerate our sin. In Exodus thirty four verse seven, God says, ‘by no means will I clear the guilty.’ This presents a problem. Notice that I did not say God has a problem. The problem is ours. For God’s solution to our problem, we’ll turn our attention tomorrow to Word 4 – CHRIST. God solved our problem through Jesus Christ!
