Discussing what the crown’s role is in our constitution. The country is made of the Canadian founding nations united through a contract with the crown, thus the crown and not the “nation-state” becomes the unitive principle of our constitution; this is relevant for the issue of republics and monarchies. Nowadays this real purpose of the crown is ignored because if explored it presents a picture of Canada that would undermine the multicultural Canadian constitution

In this episode we discuss the transformation of the relationship between the citizen and the state. The idea that Canada is a state comprised of rational actors casting votes pursuant to their own government, long believed to be a cornerstone of a liberal state is now rejected in Canadian law
