I attempted to do a summary of Genesis before moving on to Exodus. I picked the highlights that stood out for me. I'm sure another person could have talked about so many other things, but I was going mostly by memory to see how well I absorbed the content from the Bible Reading Plan.
What would you cover in your summary that I didn't?
Pastor Josh summarizes his sermon on Romans 7. The law produces death. But where sin abounds grace abounds all the more through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So many prepositions with so many definitions. Each can change the meaning of the text if we're not careful.
Death is the theme of this section it seems, but not without the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus.
Jacob and Joseph die. Jacob gives blessings and Joseph tells his brothers not to worry.
I talk with Pastor Josh about Rejoicing in hope, in our sufferings, and in God...and more. He recaps his sermon on Romans 5:1-11.

Joseph reveals himself to his brothers and is reunited with his father after many years. Such a touching story. The highlight for me is that he told his brothers to not be distressed or angry about the situation. A picture of forgiveness. Sweet.

The story of Joseph is so fascinating to me. God's providence doesn't always look the way we think it should, but it is always right. Almost done with Genesis! I can't believe it.

Well, Greg came back! We had such a good conversation the first time that I asked him back. He was gracious and kind to do this. We discuss many verses in the Bible that are often misused.

Nothing can replace your pastor. In a world of confusion, a pastor can bring clarity. Go to him. Ask questions. Hopefully, the many voices will just be a supplement to your spiritual growth. Not the meal.
Bible Reading Plan: Jacob gets married and has children. God's story of choosing a family to further his kingdom continues to be revealed. The last of the patriarchs story shows man's flaws and God's righteousness. His grace and steadfast love moves forward.
Pastor Josh is back for section 3 in our outline of Romans. We were left in the courtroom of the guilty and now Paul wants to share the gospel.
Two types of Bible study; Systematic and Biblical theology. Both are needed for a better understanding of the whole counsel of God.
Sarah and Abraham die and Isaac and Rebekah meet, marry, and have twins! So much in these chapters of God's progressive revelation. We continue to see convenants made and God's steadfast love revealed.

Today, I talk about how to differentiate prescriptive and descriptive text in the Bible. Some passages are easy to discern while others are challenging. I don't have it all figured out, but I give some tips that may be helpful to know what God expects from us.

I'm doing a chronological reading plan so, of course, it starts in Genesis.
It's been a while since we last studied in Romans if you followed along with the reading of Luke for the advent season. But now advent season is over and we can shift our focus again. Here are a few things to consider when getting back into the swing of studying.
What is God?
God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything. He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in his power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice, and truth. Nothing happens except through him and by his will. - New City Catechism by Crossway
Greg Koukl is one of my favorite theologians to listen to. He is well known for his books Tactics and The Story of Reality. You can find them at their website STR.org or Amazon.
