This week I share some of the most life-changing lessons I've learned from what may be the most unlikely books in the Bible... Leviticus and Numbers (wait, what?)

THIS WEEK YOU'LL HEAR:

  • Why it is ok to hold on to our children tightly, but not TOO tightly
  • Why its actually helpful to EXPECT our children to be ungrateful
  • How to come to terms with the fact that there is NO formula that will produce "perfect" kids...no matter how hard we try

Listen, parenting is beautiful but can get really cutthroat out in these streets and it is perfectly normal to feel frustrated in this season of life.

Even though it gets tough, now is NOT the time to give up!

This week I'm bringing the Burnout Conversation to a close with a special guest:
Marissa Price
@caffeinatedtheologian

Have you ever heard the term "compassion fatigue"?
It is a condition that can lead to burnout and is experienced by people in caregiving roles and often affects those in leadership/ministry too.

I invited Marissa to share her experience with AND recovery from burnout. She also shares what scripture has to say about burnout prevention, as well as some of the strategies that she has implemented in her life to prevent herself from burning out again.

GET TO KNOW OUR "SISTER-GUEST":
*Marissa Price is an ordained pastor who holds her Master of Theology and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary. She's a teacher, she has served as a missionary in Central Eurasia and France and has been part of many church plants across the United States.

Marissa is passionate about the local church and seeing others discover the truth of Scripture. When she’s not sipping an iced coffee or writing about theology as the Caffeinated Theologian, she can most likely be found busting out dance moves and laughing with her favourite people.*

When we remain in a state of burnout for too long it can lead to depression, however, Depression and Burnout are two separate conditions with a few overlapping symptoms.

I created this episode for a bunch of reasons; the main reason was to help you to clearly differentiate between these two "companion" conditions.

This series IS about burnout and there is NO WAY I was just going to tell you all about burnout, leave you with a bunch of symptoms and no way to get past them? (I wouldn't do that to you, Sis) so listen all the way to the end for some strategies that you can start implementing right away, to start your journey of recovery from burnout!

Did you know that there are 3 types of Burnout and 5 stages?
This week I'm sharing them with you and a little bit of my personal experience with being burned out.

I’m sure you’ve heard the word Burnout but do you know what it actually means to be burnt out or why it happens?

In this week's episode I'll be sharing about:

  1. What burnout is and isn’t
  2. The Physical, Emotional and Behavioural Signs and Symptoms of Burnout
  3. How you tell the difference between being Stressed Out or Burnout

As well as a few other things. Burnout is a very real condition and studies show that it is likely to go undetected for many years. By the end of the episode I hope you have a clearer understanding of what it is and hopefully shed some light on whether or not you may be dealing with burnout in your life.

To wrap up this month's focus on Failure and Failure Recovery, I invited a woman whom I have personally seen fail and recover, bounce back when plans didn't work out and STILL keep growing, thriving and showing others how to do the same!

This conversation is both encouraging and entertaining and I KNOW you will be inspired listening to Dawn's story.

Dawn Brown is De People's Coach

She is a firm believer that we are all here on this Earth for a reason. No EXCEPTIONS; and because of that, she encourages women to make it a priority to find out what that reason is, and to go after it with full intensity!

As she is pursuing her purpose, she is sharing what the journey looks like along the way…

You are in for an absolute treat. Make sure you listen to the end.

"Part of the reason why we feel so rocked by our failures is that by nature we are OVERACHIEVERS in our minds. We usually think we are better than we actually are. We don’t often consider that fact that we might not get things right on the first try."

This week I am giving you a practical explanation on how to prepare for your next failure.

I’m also going to share with you a list of 6 things you can do to recover well after a failure.

Near the end of the episode I quickly be walk you through an exercise that I use with my coaching clients; it involves a bit of imagery and squeezing...I know that sounds a little SUS, but you'll have to listen to the end to make that make sense.

Hey Sis...
Did you know that the fact that you have toset a goal denotes that you don’t have EVERYTHING you need to be successful YET and the reality is that success lives on the other side of many failures?

This week I'm discussing the following questions:

  1. When are we considered failures? *I know that sounds uncomfortable, at least for me, but we are going in today Sis.
  2. Does failure serve a purpose?
  3. How can we properly process failure?

Listen all the way to the end for some SUPER encouragement and some of the things I tell myself when I am recovering from failure.

It is no secret that motherhood is challenging!

This conversation with Kris Elle is designed to take a personal look,  into what it can feel like inside the Black Motherhood experience.

There are some markedly unique challenges that black mothers have to navigate and if you are interested in being educated about what those are, this episode with @thisblackhome is for you.

We also touch on some other topics throughout this discussion. Namely, the importance of being debt free, and the emotional experience for the black community within the context of this racially charged climate we are currently living through.

This beautiful and honest conversation gives insight and context to some of our struggles but also highlights the victories and gains that we are making in our cultural experience.
We can all grow and learn from each other!

I'd like to introduce you to Anika Castaneda @naturally.neeks on Instagram

This week I invited Anika to discuss her experience of being in multiple abusive relationships.

She shares honestly about how it felt, what led to her missing the warning signs of her abusers and how she is now using these heinous events from her past, as a tool of empowerment for women in similar circumstances.

Additionally, she shares about how she is navigating PTSD and other mental health disruptions that were brought on because of the traumatic events that she's endured.

Her message is one of perserverance, hope and a will to beat the odds that were stacked against her.

Hope you enjoy the episode.

This episode is not for the "cheapy-chick-chicks" who are constantly looking for deal...
I'm talking to the ladies who would LEGIT pay full price for support/coaching if they could, but actually can't  justify dropping the dollars that some of these programs are asking.

Everyone has a threshold that they can't pass, I want to offer support to THOSE women who need additional support and affordability!

In honour of my 10th episode, I share 10 things to consider about race and racism, as it pertains to the lived experienced of black people. I also share some standards that we, and our children should strive towards; as well as some basic principles about race that everyone should understand!

This episode was emtionally challenging for me, however, I believe its worth having tough discussions for the sake of education, so that we can engage in informed and rational dialogue.
