Join us each day as our community reads a passage of scripture, using the acronym BREAD as our guide. As we begin a new year this is an excellent discipline to cultivate in your life. This approach to scripture reading invites us to:
BREATHE: Find a place to encounter God, ask him to fill the space, and then take a minute in stillness.
READ: Slowly read through the day's passage and find a verse that stands out or grabs your attention. Write it down.
ENCOUNTER: Take your chosen verse, meditate on it, and consider what God might say.
APPLY: Turn your focus outward and think about how you might practically live out what God is saying today.
DEVOTE: Close by writing a simple prayer of devotion to God.
Seek to spend at least 10 minutes each day in the scriptures, with BREAD as your guide—journaling if you can.

Join us as Jonah wraps up our "More Than Conquerors" series talking about how God is for His people.
On this Sunday morning, join us as we continue with our More Than Conquerors series that walks us through Romans 8.
In this week’s opening message of the More Than Conquerors: Romans VIII series Russ begins the message with asking a question related to the Apostle Paul’s struggle from Romans 7. The question is “What is wrong with me?” Paul has an obvious struggle with his sinful nature or Flesh and is thankful for finding the answer in Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 7:15-25). Romans 8:1-2 make sense in that context as Paul declares that there is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Paul then shares our struggle and battle between the flesh (sinful nature) and the Spirit. Growing into spiritual maturity is not instantly complete but a lifelong endeavor and is only accomplished as we grow by the Spirit in Christ. God’s provision for God’s people is God’s Spirit.
In this morning's message Pastor Russ challenges us to be about the Father's business and be a part of building His Church both locally and globally.
On our fourth week of our Vision series, Nathan shares the importance of "Becoming" all that God has created you to be.
On our third week of our Vision series, Russ shares the importance of "Belonging" to the body of Christ through connecting in community groups, serve teams, and more.
On this special online only Sunday (Snow/Ice Day) Nathan shares briefly about how the Lord is challenging him to be a person of greater faith.
As we embark on a new year we want to make the most important things in life our number one priority. On this Sunday we have a concert of prayer to prepare our hearts for what the Lord has for us next.
Russ gives a devotional thought to close out the year. It has been an incredible year at Church at the Grove and we a praying for the Lord to breakthrough in big ways in 2022!
Russ shares the hope that people can have even when they walk through difficult seasons of life.
As we begin the Christmas season, we take a look at the incredible chaos of the Christmas story. In this message Pastor Nathan looks at the life of Joseph and how his plans were suddenly disrupted when the Holy Spirit shows up declaring that Mary, his fiancé, was pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Even though this new revelation rattled everything that Joseph would have known, God still revels himself in the midst of the chaos to she his plan and purpose.
Russ begins our series by looking at the radical obedience of Mary in the Christmas story. In this message we learn that blessing comes on the other side of obedience.
In this message we learned once again that we are blessed. There are many ways to respond to the blessings that Lord has bestowed upon us but two wrong responses to God’s blessing are pride and shame. These two responses lead us towards selfishness, making our blessings all about our selves. However, we have been blessed to be a blessing, and because God has blessed us with more, we will intentionally give more. We were challenged in this message to not settle for being a spontaneous giver or even a strategic giver, but rather a sacrificial giver.
In this message we learned that we truly are blessed. Even some of the poorest people in America are some of the richest people on the planet. Understanding that we are blessed, we asked the question, “will you love and trust money, or will you love and trust God?” While this question might seem simple on the surface, the answer to this question is revealed by how we use and spend our money. We were challenged to honor God through percentage giving, tithe (10%), when we do give in this way there are three blessings that come into our lives: 1. Consistent percentage giving provides for God’s work through His Church, 2. Consistent percentage giving teaches me to put God first, 3. Consistent percentage giving increases my faith in God.
As we kicked off a new series we looked at how we can have a blessed life. We discovered that you don’t achieve the blessed life from accumulating more and more, but rather the blessed life comes through giving. Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” The blessed life ultimately begins with a heart of generosity.
In this message we finished our conversation on depression from the previous weeks of this series; however, this message focused in on how we can step out of the cave of depression and walk in the abundant life that God offers. As we looked at the person of Elijah we discovered that there were five steps that he made that help him out of the darkness of depression and into the light.
• Step 1: Step into a Needed Recovery. We need to get healthy physical shape through intentional rest, healthy diets, and sustainable schedules. • Step 2: Step into a God Encounter. We need to create environments where we can quiet our souls and make room for God. • Step 3: Step into a True Identity. We need to be confident in who God says we are! • Step 4: Step into a New Assignment. There is nothing more powerful than a purpose! As we pour ourselves out for others, God will fill us up. • Step 5: Step into Relational Strength. We need to find a group and never do life alone
In this message we began addressing the difficult, but relevant, topic of depression. In this message we strive to break the stigma associated with depression so that we don’t think less of ourselves or others who struggle with mental illness. While depression can stem from genetic or biological roots, it isn’t always a malfunction of the mind. Sometimes, it’s a signal of external factors in our lives that can be identified and remedied. Either way, we can be confident that mental illness does not determine our identity and that through proper care and relationship with Jesus, we can experience freedom from depression.
So far in this series we have discovered that our soul is the deepest part of our being that consists of our will, mind, and body. Our souls are needy and will chase after the idols of the world unless we are diligent to pursue the Lord our souls will never be satisfied with worldly endeavors. This week as we continued this series we learned that even the restored soul can struggle with the “dark night of the soul,” where we experience suffering, deep pain, and depression. The world would encourage you to find relief by filling your life with more experiences, more activities and addiction to all different kids of things. However, when we experience these types of feelings and our soul is struggling we must learn to lean into the gift of God’s presence, God’s people, and God’s promises.
Nathan continues our series by discovering that our souls are needy. We are limited in our time, money, energy, intelligence, and our strength but the one thing that has no limits is the desire of our soul. Our souls chase after the things of this world, thinking that they will bring joy and satisfaction; however we continually come up empty. The only thing that will bring satisfaction to our souls is when we center our souls around Jesus and seek to practice his presence in our lives. We are ultimately responsible for cultivating this type of lifestyle.
Russ begins our new series by looking at the four levels of our soul and how Jesus helps us live an integrated live
Nathan finishes out our series by looking at how we must leave behind religious teaching in order to follow the Jesus and his way of life.
Russ shares the story of Church at the Grove along with individuals and couples from our church sharing personal stories about how God has used Church at the Grove in their lives.
Russ celebrates the 15 year anniversary of the church by getting back to the basics and talking about what the church was founded upon.
This Sunday we talked about the difference between being an admirer of Jesus and being a follower of Jesus, an admirer holds back part of themselves while a follower devotes themselves fully to following the Jesus and his ways. As we come to to the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes a distinction between these two groups of people, saying that many people will be content to be admirers and stay on the wide road that ends in destructions, while very few will actually become his followers and find the narrow road to life.
Nathan continues his conversation with Russ and Jill reflecting back on the past 15 years and the lessons that have been learned and the sacrifices that have been made.
Nathan continues our series by talking about the true test of spiritual maturity, which is not seen in how much scripture knowledge we possess but rather how well we love the people around us.
Nathan sits down with Russ and Jill Butcher to talk through what led to the start of Church at the Grove and the story of the past 15 years.
Jonah continues our series by talking about how Jesus desires for his followers to stand on truth while still loving those around them.
Russ and Nathan sit down to discuss the new sermon series Build Your House. In this episode they talk about the importance of building our lives on the firm foundation of God's word. Russ and Nathan also share their most interesting family tradition.
Nathan continues our series by looking at how followers of Jesus can live with a non-anxious presence, including practical steps that anyone can take to help over come worry.
Russ and Nathan sit down and recap our previous sermon series, Breakthrough, talking about the importance of biblical community. In this episode we learn why biblical community is so important. Nathan and Russ also have some laughs, sharing who they would like to next to on a 10 hour plane ride.
Russ begins our new series by looking at where you invest, your heart is sure to follow.
Russ and Nathan sit down and briefly share about the New Beyond Sunday's Podcast and how the hope God will use it in our church family. They also talk about the most embarrassing injury they have ever had.
Nathan finishes our series by looking at the big idea, that whoever has your ear, guides your heart. We have to ensure that we are listening to the right people in our life.
Russ and Nathan have some fun sharing the vision of the NEW Beyond Sundays Podcast. One Minute Preview
Russ continues our series by looking at how God uses small groups, of weak people, to bring breakthrough in our lives.
Russ begins our new series by look at the power of intentional biblical community. We see that breakthrough in life's battles comes when other's lift us up.
Nathan continues our series by looking at the powerful tool of fasting. Fasting helps us curve our cravings to chase after what is best in life, Jesus.
Nathan looks at the bold prayer of asking the Lord to not lead us into temptation and deliverance from the evil one.
In this special online 4th of July service some of our staff members sit down together to talk through the importance of true biblical community.
Pat continues our series by looking at how we should pray for forgiveness and for the power to forgive those that have wronged us.
Russ continues our series by talking about how we should pray and trust for the Lord to be the provider of all our needs.
Russ continues our series by asking the for the Lord's Kingdom to come down an invade the earth. In this message we learn that the culture of the Kingdom is radically different from the culture of the world.
Nathan continues our series by showing us that how we view God determines how we relate to Him. In this message we discover the provocative way that Jesus tells us we can connect the Lord.
Russ begins our new series by looking at the four anchors of prayer and the impact they have on our lives.
Nathan finishes our series by making us think not just about "what" we do but "why" we do the things that we do. In this powerful message Jesus tells us to check our motives and discover why we do the things that we do, are we trying to make a public spectacle which leads to temporary praise or are we living out of a private devotion which leads to eternal rewards?
One of the foundational documents for our country is the Bill of Rights. Inside this document as Americans we are guaranteed the right to have freedom of speech, press, to assemble, to protest and the freedom to practice religion. The document also secures our rights to bear arms and have a fair judicial system, among others. These rights are at the core of our country and something that we hold dear, and something that we are thankful for. But for those that follow Jesus, he commands us to not fight for our rights but instead be willing to sacrifice our rights for the benefit of others.
In the message from Sunday we learned that followers of Jesus give up their right to be respected, the right to stuff, the right to time, and the right to money. While these things are difficult to give up; however, when the followers of Jesus sacrifice their rights it opens up opportunities to win over our enemies and display the love and grace of Jesus in powerful ways.
In our American culture, divorce has become a common theme in most families. We all have seen first hand the destruction that divorce causes in the lives of the married couple, children, and other friends and family members. And while religious people have tried to stand up for the “sanctity of marriage” divorce still continues to plague our families.
As we looked in scripture this past Sunday we saw that God hates divorce and that the marriage vows should be taken seriously and sacredly. Marriage was created by the Lord and is ultimately a picture of Christ’s relationship with his bride, the Church. Marriage is not a fairy tale. It is hard work. But it is worthwhile work.
The sexual revolution that began in the 60’s promised our world and culture that we would have more freedom and pleasure; however, statistics clearly show us that we are experiencing more pain, chaos and heartbreak than we ever could have imagined. While the world sees the way of Jesus as antiquated and out-of-touch with reality, the Bible shows that sexual freedom is found in the radical pursuit of Jesus.
Jesus makes the radical statement comparing lust and adultery, and calls his followers to take drastic steps to remove lustful intentions from their hearts. Lustful intent is most clearly seen in the use of pornography and fantasy and the greatest weapon we have to fight against this lustful intent it to have a vibrant, growing, passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Washington Post recently reported that 2020 was an “anger incubator,” we live in a world where it seems everyone is angry with one another. While some may say that anger is no big deal as long as you aren’t hurting someone else, Jesus says that anger is the equivalent to murder in our hearts. Followers of Jesus have to be disciplined to root out the sources of anger in their lives to they can live at peace with one another and with the Lord.
This week we gathered together to celebrate Easter and the power of the resurrection. In the sermon we answered the question, “What is truth?” In a culture where truth is subjective and conspiracy theories run rampant it is harder than ever to know what is true. In the message we discovered that truth is ultimately found in the person of Jesus and if the resurrection is true it changes everything!
This Sunday we looked at five basic historical evidences that the resurrection happened, we heard a personal testimony of how the living Savior is still alive today, and we looked at the theological results of the resurrection.
