This spring I put together a small group tour to #Portugal and the #DouroValley - We began our journey in one of my favorite European cities, #Lisbon and made our way north to #Porto. I partnered again with Riviera River Cruises. This time on the River Boat, Riviera River Cruises, The Douro Splendour as this itinerary really fit a slower more intentional experience.

I'm finally back after two months of group tours and travel planning busy, busy, busy season, I'm back in the production room putting things together. Although I have lots to produce I couldn't wait to share our recent Danube River Cruise Fun with our small group tours this past April. OMG! It was hysterical, a little damp, and loads of fun, fun, fun!
We partnered with ®Riviera River Cruises for another River Cruise group tour, this time along the DANUBE. The ancient waterway that once was busy with Roman Empire traffic, today is dotted with riverboats, ferries, and cargo ships. It is also lined with vineyards, medieval towns, still intact and historical architecture that astounds.

When NOT to visit Hawaii? This was such hard content to write. My Mama always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say..." but I feel like I have to share my experience because I certainly don't want my listeners to think it's all rainbows and unicorns when I travel. I'm a real travel writer and a huge sharer.

This past holiday season I was thrilled to enjoy a few more #christmas #markets along the #rhine - well first I visited the Mosel for a few weeks and then I made my way to #cologne #germany for a #european #rivercruise. We began in the majestic city of Cologne and made our way to the enchanting cities of Rüdesheim, Bonn and Koblenz. Today's podcast introduces you to this #holiday #adventure I am pretty sure I'm going to make a tradition.
Awesome service, wonderful surroundings, and snow on the river as we glide past castle after castle on hillsides next to vineyards. A truly magical experience.

Bad #Waldsee is an Upper Swabian town in #Germany not far from Stuttgart. Close to Bavaria, Ravensburg, and the Bodensee or Lake Konstanz. Austria and Switzerland are within easy driving distance also making it a great weekend getaway or a wonderful addition to a traveling European itinerary.
We had glorious weather for our visit to this german town this past September. We had a great day for hiking and watched boat races, enjoyed wonderful cuisine and relaxed at another thermal spa.

Stop one on my X-country #adventure was the Land between the Lakes (LBL.) This 150,000+ acre recreation area in western Kentucky was absolutely going to be a stop on my adventure. A huge hiker, I knew I was going to love stopping in this national treasure first. I first discovered the Land between the Lakes years ago, as we passed it several times between Missouri and Alabama but never stopped. This time, I was for sure going to stop for sure. #discoveramerica

Cheekwood Gardens in #Nashville, T#ennessee is an absolute natural treasure. Without a doubt, travel in 2020 definitely had some challenges for all of us, right? Social distancing, masking up, and quarantining. What a year! Thankfully, I found several opportunities to visit and go hiking all outdoors and have a little “safer outdoors” fun!

This month I visited @1818Farms in historic Mooresville, Alabama. I had a blast meeting Static and Baby Girl and all their furry sheep friends. Natasha McCrary, entrepreneur and creator of this historic farm that focuses on preserving history and sheep as well as producing all-natural bath and beauty products.
This fast-growing company began in 2011 and has flourished. From Agri-tourism to educational workshops to some of the best #sheacreme you'll find out there, 1818 Farms is one of a kind.

My friend Tracie and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour through the Black Belt of Alabama.
Growing up learning how to quilt I was fascinated by these #artists who humbly create beauty with little. Their work can be seen in 13!! museums around the world representing African American art that spans generations.

The #oakvilleindianmounds in #northernalabama is a FREE resource and treasure available to the public for Alabama Indian Culture. This education center, pre-historic burial mound site, and recreation center is tucked away in the heart of Lawrence County. Part of the County #school system this robust facility hosts over 20,000 artifacts over 2,000 years old.
As you walk the grounds of the park you will feel the peaceful presence of a time gone by. The 20-acre lake has #free #fishing available and is open to the public.

What an incredible opportunity to #visit the #jesseowensmuseum in #oakville #Alabama this past month and learn so much about this great American #hero Jesse Owens, who was born into humble beginnings and had a heart of gold. This passion project, the Jesse Owens Birthplace and Museum is dedicated to life and legacy to honor the four-time Olympiad who overcame many, many obstacles. Jesse Owens won FOUR GOLD MEDALS at the #1936Olympics in Berlin, right before the start of WWII.

Today I was so happy to interview Swabian Culinary Food Blogger, Tim Schneider and chat about his wonderful website My German Table. Tim writes wonderful regional recipes handed down from family and friends. I loved talking about one of my favorite towns in Baden-Württemberg, Rottweil. Their lovely Fastnacht parade, the legendary dog, and then Maultaschen from the Monasteries of Maulbronn.
I discovered new German words and slang and recipes I hadn't even heard of ~ if you are hoping to try a little international cooking where you can find all the ingredients, recipes are in English and have a bit of history, you will love this podcast!

Join me today in an in-depth interview with historical docent Lynn Weaver of Ivy Green. The cotton plantation that was once home to Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. Lynn and I talk about Helen's early life, struggles and overcoming so many challenges with courage and fortitude.
As she walks us through the almost completely intact birthplace and home of the Keller's you can visualize early turn of the century living in north Alabama.
