LECOM presents: Heroes in Training tells the success stories of other LECOM students and alumni as they've transitioned into their chosen medical career.
The importance of well-trained, empathetic healthcare professionals is at on all time high. We’ve learned of the heroic nature and sacrifices made by those incredible individuals .
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic medicine (also known as LECOM) has been providing training for these very professionals since 1993 and desire for you as a potential student to know and understand the opportunities for that await you here at our institution.

Dr. Matt Draudt is originally from Utah and loves the outdoors. Before attending college at Utah Valley University, he spent two years on a service trip in Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. After completing his undergraduate studies from Utah Valley University, Dr. Draudt continued his studies at LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. While at LECOM, he dedicated his time learning the foundational principles of dental medicine and graduated in 2018. Dr. Draudt has a special interest in dental implants and oral surgery and has completed additional education in these fields.
Dr. Draudt is currently practicing at his own dental office called Greenway Dental in Morganton, North Carolina. He spends a lot of time keeping up to speed on the newest and greatest techniques developed in order to provide the highest quality of care for his patients. He enjoys serving others and has participated in many dental service trips. He genuinely appreciates treating patients and building lifelong relationships with them.

Dr. Anthone-Kloss is a 2020 LECOM Graduate who is completing her intern year prior to starting her Anesthesiology Residency program. Jennifer’s path to medical school was not only considered “non-traditional”, but truly career changing. After graduating with a degree in education, she taught science classes for a few years before deciding to pursue her dream of practicing medicine.

Dr. Erin Lowe is a 2016 LECOM graduate and currently works as a dermatologist in Connecticut. Erin was an actor from the age of 10 until the age of 24 before turning to the world of medicine. Erin attended Columbia University prior to LECOM and completed her residency in Florida. Erin is married with a daughter and shares her path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Dr. Ryan Zimmerman is a fourth year medical student in the Biomedical Science Program. He has played a large part in student leadership during his time at LECOm and is currently going through the interview process for residency. Dr. Kassey James is a 2020 graduate of The School of Pharmacy and a 2020 MHSA graduate with the School of Health Services Administration. She credits her time management skills for accomplishing the two degrees simultaneously. Kassey is finishing up the first year of her fellowship, is working as a Medical Science Liaison, and shares her path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Guest: Dr. Jaime Babiak
Dr. Jaime Babiak is a graduate of the 2010 class of The School of Pharmacy as well as the 2015 class of the School of Graduate Studies. She has a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration. While Jaime was at LECOM she was awarded the Dean's Award for demonstrating the character, moral, academic and ethical behavior expected as a professional pharmacist. Upon graduation she pursued community and in-patient hospital pharmacy work prior to entering the Long-term Care arena. Jaime has completed licensure requirements for nursing home administrator and currently holds the position of Director of Operations for the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging. She was the 2018 recipient of the LECOM Health Institute for Successful Aging leadership award. Jaime is married with two daughters and shares her path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Dr. Ana Monzin and Dr. Denis Monzin are alumni of the inaugural class of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2016. Since graduation, they practice general dentistry and provide care to patients in the Sarasota Bradenton area. These two doctors met in dental school and shared their education journey to become dentists. In this podcast, we will hear from Dr. Ana and Dr. Denis of how their different backgrounds merged into one path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.
