In this episode I sat down to talk to US Army Vet and CEO of Think Botanicals about the different approach his company takes to get CBD in front of more people.
Here's a quick read from the blog about the interview fro some insight :
“Well, we’re a Botanical company and not a CBD company,” he says in response me asking what sets him apart from companies marketing similar products, “ and I mean look around.”
The Alamo Heights store we are sitting in is nestled nicely between a coffee shop and small cafe with a minimalist approach to design that gives off a very clean business feeling upon walking in. The shelves neatly fronted and faced with only enough product to be well-stocked to avoid giving the impression that product will be pushed on customers.
“I want to make sure that we aren’t just riding the wave to make some quick money. There are a lot of people still way outside the loop when it comes to cannabis and I want this product and this information available to them without anyone having to compromise their beliefs or self-image.” And with similar stores in Stone Oak, the Medical Center, and plans to expand to San Marcos, Austin, and surrounding cities he is doing exactly that.
The term “seed-to-shelf” tickles my ear as someone walks in to consult the Canna-Pro behind the counter. Which is another way this company sets themselves apart. Every employee at Think Botanicals is kept up to date with the latest info on application, delivery, and even the aforementioned endo-cannabaniod system. There’s even a quick presentation that hits the major points and gives you a general understanding of the overall science behind this movement. The customer ends up settling on an Extract to help with insomnia and we continue.
“ Seed to shelf just means that the product is handled by Think Botanicals every step of the way. This helps us do a number of things on many levels; from a quality stand-point, we can ensure that our products stand up to the most rigorous of test. This means when we say 0.00% THC (available for those subject to random drug test) we guarantee it. You also never know what you’re getting from some of the companies out there right now and until that gets sorted out we want to give people confidence in what and how we do things every step of the way. Economically, this also creates jobs and ensures the money stays within our local economy. It does the same with local head shops but because the product on their shelves often comes from a third party vendor, they often can’t match the savings on some products and the money given to those vendors is money not going to our city. Socially, it helps us stay connected to the people. So if we start hearing from the front lines that people are asking about CBD patches, or CBD breathe strips we can start exploring the idea and see what we can do about bringing it to life.”
