We are a United Methodist Think Tank working to form a more accepting society. We promote and advocate for acceptance of ALL.
Travis and Carlos talk with Dr. Ellen Blue about her latest book, In Case of Katrina. Dr. Blue takes us in a journey through the devastation the hurricane brought, as well as, the new life that sprang in the aftermath. We talk about the complexities the Church, in general, and the United Methodist Church, in particular, faced and continue to wrestle with years after the storm.
Travis and Carlos talked with Mike Baughman, church planter at Union Coffee in Dallas TX and author and editor of the book "Flipping Church." Mike gives us a summary of church planting connventions that he has, and other church planters have, broken. He talks about the "Church refugees," alternative ways of sustainability, creative ways of being Church. Mike streeses the need for intercultural competency, performance arts competency and "research and development" mindset. He also challenges the idea that we, church people, posses something that the "outside world" does not: God. the Church does not "own" God and God is already working in the community; how can we join God in this work and what can I learn from people because the divine is already in them.
