After noticing the cracks in the underlying financial system, he became a proactive investor purchasing numerous investments that would hedge his portfolio against inflation. This led him to invest in real estate, precious metals, stocks, and cryptocurrency, establishing a personal multimillion-dollar portfolio prior to turning 30 years old.
After learning about Bitcoin in 2012 he was part of the production of Banker’s Worst Fear, a documentary which predicted Bitcoin’s true potential and how revolutionary this new monetary system will be for society.

Jarrod Haning for the past 10 years has been working so you don't have to. Meaning, his job is to show you how to think, at a higher level, about business success. A breakthrough in your business will first happen as a breakthrough in your thinking and you're only one thought away from your next breakthrough. From his book The Thinking Patterns of Success, we get a glimpse into the minds of seven-figure earners and how they really think. How to grow in a down economy, how to EARN with less effort, how to Increase client value, and how to scale on demand. The less you do, the more you earn, now that's crazy. Bigger goals bring faster funds and a higher purpose creates more power. And when we talk about this one, that I really loved, the idea that bigger goals mean more. Like the bigger the goal, the more prosperity, abundance, the more enjoyment, and the more life you get to live. And hey, life wants more life.

Lara Kozan is an entrepreneur and lover of life just like you...)
AND, a passionate coach.
Lara is the co-founder of YYoga, Canada’s largest yoga community, Nectar Juicery, a cold-pressed juice company committed to revolutionizing modern nourishment, and now Lara Kozan.com.
It is her mission to empower entrepreneurs to create, grow and scale wildly successful businesses with (inner wisdom) a.k.a ease, grace and flow. This way, entrepreneurs can create the freedom and impact they desire and avoid building through the false drive, excessive pushing, overwhelm, and exhaustion to discover their true success by fiercely aligning who they are with what they do.
In her early entrepreneurial days she would take something she was passionate about and turn it into a successful business, then later in her journey she struggled to do business in a way that honoured her health, her relationships, and the most important parts of her life.

“I think the human experience just means that we're doing our thing we're taken out of our flow and we need to go back into the flow and it's not something you do once. It's not like you brush your teeth and then you don't need to for the rest of your life. Getting back into the flow is something you do, potentially, daily, weekly like you have those things to keep you in flow and keep you aligned.”

Excerpt:
"You take these strategies and you put together a hybrid that works for you, exactly where you are right now moving forward. So if you're the type that doesn't like the like to push, and I tend to be a little more proactive, then you adjust it. You find a way to conceptually do the same thing to get to that end result. So in other words, you got to think, and don't just think linear. You see the tree but you don't see the forest. You got to be able to see the possibilities because I guarantee you if this is the fourth fifth time you replay this, then ideas will jump out that Thomas and I didn't see, but you see, and you run. That's how you go from working in your business or service to working on it.

It took some work, but I am less attached now. Now don't get me wrong. The first one-star review that you get is going to hurt. You know when somebody gives your podcast a three-star review because they say that your audio quality is not even enough.
You know, all those things sting, but long ago one of my favorite people in the world said Listen, "you have to have really thick skin and a very short term memory." And if you can do those things, I think it helps you not only expand your influence on social media, but it certainly helps you as an entrepreneur. You know when you make those costly mistakes or when one of your employees or contractors quits because you weren't treating them well enough. Have some thick skin but you have to move on.
You cannot beat yourself up about it over the course of weeks, two months, two years or you're just going to end up working a nine to five on somebody else's vision you know, suffering. Yes, absolutely, absolutely. Go out there and be who you are. Share it without apology and understand this, sometimes people are going to block you because of it and they were never going to spend a dime with you. That's okay.

Discussion:
6:19 TD - Are there typical things that come up regularly in your assessment of businesses?
6:46 LC - Oh, there's a lot of things that come up regularly. First of all, the shock, the shock of the bleed when we do an assessment, originally and we go through what their operating expenses are; what the owner is actually taking home and then we show them that they're actually bleeding cash. I think subconsciously they know they keep having to borrow, but they don't actually see the amount of cash they're bleeding every month or every quarter, or every year.
I had a client this year who had to borrow $140,000 when she first came on with me. And she said," I don't know why I had to borrow that much money?" So I did an assessment on her business and I showed her that the bleed worked out to almost $140,000. Now I could explain it. This is what you're doing this is what's happening and if you don't break this cycle, you're going to continue to borrow over and over again. Then, of course, the other thing that comes up a lot is, "I have to borrow to grow."

It's probably unlike anything you've tried or even heard about.
If you’ve tried like hell to change something in your life without success, there might be a subconsciously held belief that keeps pulling you back to where you were. Somethings you just can’t force for long, and here’s why: we ultimately default to a choice that is consistent with the downstream from who we subconsciously think we are and what we believe is possible for us.Why are habits emphasized here? What we do regularly is what shapes our lives. These could be habits of thought or food. They might be regarding who we let in our life or how we interpret what they do or say. If you haven't yet found success in relationships, health, wealth, joy, or peace, you may want to consider having a consultation to see if your subconsciously stored identity & beliefs are what's holding you back.

08:48 - "The first time I reinvented myself was when I was 16. Rock Bottom moment. I would say there was a moment when I was 18 when I started to see who I really was. There was a moment when I was 25, where I had to face myself again and I had to create the next version of Amber. And then I would say probably when I achieved burnout, that would be around 34. So a handful of times."
09:31 - "It's the most magnificent, remarkable journey. Life is crazy. Especially adulthood. And Thomas, I tell my parents, I said, "Gosh, I felt so unprepared for what it's really like to be an adult." As a kid, you're just like, I can't wait to have my own house, my own car and listen to my own music and do my own thing, and that is an amazing freedom that hopefully, we don't take for granted ever. But man It is complex, and how we keep needing to polish ourselves and go deeper within ourselves and, and observe the patterns and make new choices. And there's no finish line. It's just there's just this deepening that keeps occurring. It's amazing.

DR. KEVIN PRESTON
PROGRESSIVE CHINESE MEDICINEBringing a new way of healing based on 5000 years of research, Dr. Kevin Preston lives for creating health and vitality in others. Dr. Preston trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a background in science and kinesiology. He continued to branch out by engaging in many different courses, seminars, and philosophies; which range from epigenetics, biological medicine, homeopathy, Classical Chinese medicine, to other teachings from more esoteric lineages and spiritual paths.
Dr. Preston has been in practice for over a decade and owns a wellness clinic in Vernon, BC. His key focus has been on treating chronic conditions, unknown illnesses, mystery syndromes, and optimized performance. He is very passionate about helping people thrive beyond what they thought was possible.
26:27 - "To put everything on the table is the ultimate fear busting thing. But I think what we're also afraid of is actually showing ourselves fully because of lack of confidence, self-esteem or whatever all these programs are that we run.
It's like everybody feels that way. I have had so many amazing deep conversations with amazing people. And one of the things I hear the most is, "you might think I'm crazy but this is how I'm feeling or I'm feeling this I'm feeling that" and they're really scared to share it and for whatever reason people seem to feel safe sharing things with me.
They think they're alone. It's kind of wild. It's like, how many of us have had these thoughts? Like say, oh 1000 times and then as soon as they share it, they can let go of that and they don't have to carry it on their own.
We all have these things that we're hiding and carrying within ourselves and so that reference to Eminem in 8 Mile; I love that part of the movie. I think a lot of people that saw that movie remember that because we all probably get super scared when we imagine doing something like that ourselves.
If you stop judging yourself then you're not so worried about other people judging you too. it's like that cosmic joke where you can laugh at yourself because you have put yourself out there, on the table and whatever is gonna happen, its gonna happen."

These may not be the best possible outcomes in a 2020 world. So, I look at growth in this way, what can I control? What do I know that is going to be constant? So, let's take COVID-19 for example, there's a lot, a lot of uncertainty and unknown that I cannot control.
I don't know when we're really going to open up. I don't know if there's going to be a second wave. I don't know if that's going to impact me or my business or my family and friends. I don't know those things.
What I do know is what is the steps that I can do on a daily basis to ensure that I'm producing my best work? So, I go back to a physical pattern. So, I look at, okay, what time am I going to bed, what time am I waking up, what is my routine like in the morning, am I moving my body, am I creating a moment where I have a stillness of the mind? What are some of these elements that are within my control, regardless of the outside world? It doesn't matter.
And so, some people are stressed about finances, some people are stressed about work or about the next steps. All of us have pressures, but to sit and think and dwell upon those things in a way that does not move the needle, that's on you, and you have to own up to that.
So, my belief is to say, look, this is a very hard time, very challenging and tons of uncertainty. On the flip side of the coin, there's a tremendous opportunity, whether it's on the personal growth side, even on the business side, even on the reinvention and pivot and adaptation side. It's all about your perspective.

I think we have to go back to civility, just civility by itself. Like, in the early days, the early years, you know. When you would have people that would go into this and they would have debates and they would sit in these places and debate all day, but they were super debates, they will listen to your opinion. You come with your philosophy, philosophers would debate and at the end of the day, you would still stand with your position, I would stand with my position, but you get to argue out your point, and let others decide whether they want to change their position about the issue.
We have to get to a place of stability where there's maturity. When I can listen to your point of view because your goal is not to change my point of view, but it's to express why you're passionate about what you believe the way you believe. So, if you help me understand where you're coming from, then I can have empathy and I can have understanding.
So, for instance, we have this pattern where the whole idea, is to be against somebody else because of their belief, but you don't know why they believe what they believe. Sit down with them. You don't have to change your belief system, but you can learn where they're coming from.

Tim Begley is an entrepreneur who has focused on services that support people to improve their health through fitness and nutrition. As a coach, Tim works with people to set a clear path for self-improvement and then stay on track.
11:55 - So Tim, now you're doing things differently and I love what you said that you knew the camera and the microphone were always available to you, even way back when, and the people that you see now that are crushing it with their online programs, they were using those tools that we all had access to. Now, it has become second nature for you to be doing videos and using those same tools. So, let's talk about your journey of breaking down those barriers for yourself.
12:56 - "Yeah, I'd love to and, I hope that it's relatable for everyone. When you start doing something new, like making videos, you challenge yourself and when you look back after three months, six months a year, you're embarrassed. In fact, you’re almost physically ill watching those first videos, watching the first stuff you ever put together and that's commendable.
You know, I really would encourage anyone who's listening to this, who's thinking about being online more, or thinking about a new business to just get into it and just get going. You know my background is in fitness and you know it instills a real growth mindset, right. I mean, I think health and fitness are the ultimate in terms of a growth mindset. Most people feel that if you work at something you will improve and it's just so tangible when it comes to fitness. Other things like business or like being in front of a camera aren't so tangible and so people fall into that trap of, I'm just not good at that.
So, I had this vision of where I wanted to go, and I knew it was really about getting started and doing it and doing all the reps. We actually have a group program with other Kinesiologists and trainers, and we have a hashtag, it’s #videoreps and it's really just about doing the repetition. Most people think of reps like at the gym, you know you're doing push-ups for example or, or chin-ups and you get better by doing reps. So, we call them video reps and it's just about making videos, and it's amazing to see."

Mike Robbins - How do we hold people accountable and how do we challenge people? You start first with that psychological safety and that sense of belonging so that people feel that they can really open up. The third pillar is what I call embrace sweaty palm conversations, and this comes from a conversation that I had with a mentor of mine. A number of years ago he said to me, “Mike, you know what stands between you and the kind of relationships you really want to have with people?” I said, what's that? He said, “It's probably a 10 minutes sweaty palm conversation you're too afraid to have.”
Those sweaty palm conversations sometimes look like feedback, sometimes look like talking about a sensitive topic, sometimes look like holding someone accountable, sometimes look like, telling a hard truth that you know the person may not want to hear but it's really necessary. Sometimes, it looks like admitting something or asking for some help. I mean there's a lot of different sweaty palm conversations but if you're going to be really valuable to someone in their life, in terms of giving them advice, in terms of supporting them and in terms of coaching them or counselling them or leading them; there's going to need to be some sweaty palm conversations.
Look, if we're going to create a team where we really can do our best work and we really can be the best we can possibly be, then we’re going to need to challenge each other and we're going to need to respectfully. That's the fourth pillar. To care about and challenge each other.
One of the things about Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is, he is the heart and soul of that team and he gets in everybody's face and yells at them if they're not playing the way that they're supposed to. He doesn't do it from a place of malice, nor does he do it from a place of arrogance or thinking that he is better than you. He does it from a place of caring about you. It is like he is saying, I'm committed to you and to us winning and being the best we can be so if you're falling short of that, I'm going to get right in your face and bark at you right on the court in front of everybody.

"So, there's a lot of ways I think you can be decentralized or have decentralized values. A good analogy right now is that most finance is very centralized. For example, you have to go to a bank, have a bank account, and there are a few people that permit you to access your own funds or for getting loans out, getting a mortgage, or anything along those lines.
Similar to how a government is centralized in many ways in their authority. They do have decentralized offices and banks can have decentralized offices. But the idea of decentralization and cryptocurrency from my perspective is about increasing the spread of the nodes. Instead of having maybe 10 big banks in the city, you've got 10,000 people that each is running their own nodes, and each person operating their own bank. So, it's pushing decentralization out much, much further."

And here's the thing about today's show that I think you're going to appreciate. This is about being a business owner, and what I'm really happy about is that I have managed to find somebody in my local community that runs a business that bootstrapped the business themselves, and is living, what it means to be an entrepreneur and a business owner, and so it doesn't matter where you are in the world. If you're a small to medium sized business owner, and you're an entrepreneur then what we talk about today is relevant to you. That's the cool thing about today's show.
Here's the other cool thing about today's show, and I know, I know I didn't say there was more than one but now I'm saying there is more than one. Here's the other cool thing. I am really crystal clear that running a business and living a life is about love. And today's guest, Andrea Dershin just totally encapsulates love.
Not only for her family, for the people she works with and the people she serves, but as a business owner, it just oozes out in this discussion today. And you know what? I can read her bio, I can give you all of that stuff. There are links (below) you can go check for the Good Life Juice company, you can see their blog and you can get a sense of who she is from there. I really wanted to start off today's show just letting you know what I took away. And what I took away is this. Here is a business owner in my community that has learned a lot of great lessons along the way, is finding a way to get through the current crisis in our world and so much of it is wrapped up in love.
And I think that is a critical piece. So, if you're listening and you're a business owner or you know somebody that's a business owner, this is a great episode for you to tune into or for them to tune into because you're going to hear from somebody who's living it and having to pivot, having to figure out how it's going to work, having to make the tough decisions, and still coming back to a place of grounding, of self, of love, of care, and wanting to serve to their highest good.

Tom Barnett pulled me into his conversation through his genuine authenticity and desire to be human. I found myself wanting to hear more from him, lean into asking more questions and develop a bigger view of the world and system we live in. In the end, I was left with a feeling of gratitude for having had my interaction with him.
Whether I believe everything he said or not is definitively not the point. The point is knowing that it is our right and privilege to question everything and push back at authority whenever it is trying to push down on us. I believe that every bullet fired, every injury and death through two world wars and however many others there have been, was for that right and privilege.
I will not go gentle into that good night. I will not be influenced by the simple fact that someone is yelling louder or has more money to control the narrative. I will continue to ask and ask and ask.
I hope you enjoy the showTom Barnett is the author of the commonsense guide to food. He has spent several years as a holistic health practitioner working with people to find a core balance in their lives from which to create a foundation for health.
@ 39:52 | "So there's a lot of things that don't add up for a lot of people and to answer your question directly, what do I think is going on? I don't think anybody really has a definitive idea because unless you're in that upper echelon of the families that run the world, I don't think you can know, you can really only theorize.
I think 100% there is going to be tighter regulations on what you can and can't do as far as travelling, receiving welfare or any government benefit, unless you are willing to do what they say, which will more than likely be a mandatory vaccine. First of all, the Coronavirus vaccine and second of all, moving into pretty much every vaccine becoming mandatory.
I think it has a lot to do with the rollout of 5g. I think they need to do that while people are watching, which is why they're trying to keep people in their houses. And then, funnily enough, everyone's in their house sucking up bandwidth, and they're probably turning the signals down. And then people are saying, well, we need a stronger signal now. And then they'll say, Well, hey, look, we've got 5g.

Mike Huggins is a Wharton MBA graduate, CPA and former COO who ran a $2 billion business but ended up going to prison for a Responsible Corporate Officer misdemeanour for illegal activities that occurred under his watch, without his knowledge. He’s the author of Going Om – A CEO’s Self-Discovery Behind Bars.
Coming out of prison he turned down lucrative job offers and started the Transformation Yoga Project, a non-profit organization, and goes back into prisons working with incarcerated men to provide practical tools for them to help navigate life’s challenges both inside prison and when they are released back into the community.
He also works with executives about being a Responsible Corporate Officer to live a full and balanced professional and personal life.
"The thing that I took away from that experience is to follow your heart. You know, some people believe in the universe and how things happen, and I would tell you, Thomas, that there were a lot of signs out there that I wasn't happy with what I was doing. I'm not saying illegal things, that's a whole different story which we can talk about, I'm just saying in the general sense of unhappiness. Meaning, that the career that I loved so much for over 25 years, having the success doing that, I think, I think you need to have the passion, the skill set, and maybe some luck for all those things to come together.
I had all that, and yet, towards the end, maybe the last three years, I started feeling a sense of discomfort. That I wasn't as fulfilled in the job as I had been previously and there were reasons for that. Partly because the company got so big and I’m not really a big company kind of guy if you will, so managing a multi-billion-dollar business was outside of my area of comfort.
I also had stumbled across this thing called yoga because I had back problems and I came to realize that those back problems were all due to stress. I was on my way to surgery and working for a medical device company I had lots of good advice about what kind of surgery to get and I wasn't so interested in that. It was also putting pressure on my marriage, and so all these things were coming together, and I didn't pay attention to it, even though I had this yoga practice that tells you to follow your head and your heart. I was following everybody else's thoughts instead of my own and going through this, this process which I admit is pretty extreme, there were a lot of life lessons in there. Like how to deal with life circumstances in a way so we can navigate and connect our passion and our skillset in a truly fulfilling way; even if it's not, maybe what's seen as conventional to others or a certain group."

"It's like the whole world has a 3d printer and that is China. Everybody made their stuff in China and unfortunately, the Coronavirus-19 which, despite all the hype is real. It's not good, it does kill some people, and it scares a lot of governments. It has shut down trade in China. So, the world's 3d printer has been turned off.
Now, what this means is that all of the businesses that depend on China are going to be hurt. What that means is that their bottom line is affected and what that means is that a lot of people are going to get laid off or fired. That means that globally speaking economies are not going to be doing all that well.
Now, this is the second bad thing, but it gets even worse. So, Russia is in this weird oil price war with the rest of the OPEC oil-producing countries, and they're basically undercutting each other. The United States has one of the largest reserves of oil after Venezuela and a couple of other folks. The price of oil has a huge impact on people's retirement funds because a lot of these retirement funds, are looking for yield and so they have corporate debt and investments in things that are closely related to the price of oil that is currently around dollars."

IN THIS EPISODE:
THOMAS: (08:09)
I'd love to really just talk about the journey of what it takes to become an Olympic champion.
JON: (08:16)
Well, I guess when you find yourself participating in a rather obscure, peripheral sport, when I first started, I started telling people what I was involved in. They thought, is that that rowing sport? And you're like, no, no, that's sculling; skeleton is something decidedly different than that. But, how you find yourself there for most of the people that do it is
JON: (08:41)
It's through an active approach, I think, to finding things that make you happy. And you're not going to do skeleton racing for any other reason, it's certainly not by accident. Let's just say that. And you don't find yourself on a skeleton sled, you just happen to be somewhere one day, you have to go, you have to make a pointed effort of trying it out and seeking what looks like from a bystander's perspective, just bat, you know, crazy. And something about that has to speak to you. So whatever has happened previous in your life, whether it's a set up because of wiring, whether it's set up because of previous exposures to adrenaline inducing type of affairs and events, you do it for either sheer excitement or as a vehicle and a means to an end. And mine was both because those sorts of things spoke to who I was as an individual.
THOMAS: (13:01)
Did you, did you have it in your head that you wanted to be an Olympic athlete and then you sought something you could do is like, did that come before the actual discovery of skeleton or, you know, was it the other way around?
JON: (13:15)
That's 100%. That pathology, I wanted desperately to represent Canada. Canada was the foundation.
Our host, Thomas DeSchutter sits down for a candid one on one with AJ Osborne.
Shortly after the birth of his 4th child, AJ was unexpectedly struck with a rare autoimmune disorder called Guillain Barre Syndrome. GBS is a disease that caused his white blood cells to start attacking his own nervous system. He became totally paralyzed from head to toe almost before he even knew what was happening. On life support for months, AJ was unable to breathe, eat, hug his children or kiss his wife; he definitely could not work. Coming home from the ICU AJ was in a wheelchair for months.
But that didn't stop this amazing entrepreneur. AJ wants to help others be financially independent through cash flow in order to achieve independence, security, and freedom. It was this that saved his family’s financial life!

This week Thomas DeSchutter from Bloom Strategies interviews Krystine McInnes from Grown Here Farms, an organization founded on 5 simple concepts: Fresh, Local, Organic, Zero Carbon Footprint and Flavour.
“Love in and Love out is our philosophy.” This came from a place of finding our inner authenticity, we are on a quest to find what we stand for and understand why it matters. Why are we here, what are we doing?
“I hate business, I hate everything about it. It is a necessary evil in my mind. However, it is part of a physical structure and if I want to get where I am going, it’s something that I have learned to navigate. I now know how to navigate because the end game is bigger.”

Tanis is obsessed and relentless when it comes to digging and connecting the dots. She is deeply committed to thriving in her life, supporting her family to thrive in theirs, and being a professional instigator to fuel this revolution. She is intensely curious.
“We are ALL meant to thrive, and there is plenty of thriving to go around. Courage and vulnerability is where all the really good stuff begins. The little stuff matters. Little moments of joy – and little changes that lead to big results. Creativity and play are the way home.”
“Sharing our journey with laughter and tears in damn good company is the best medicine there is… along with a really good hug. When in doubt, go play outside. Nature fuels and grounds us like nothing else.”

This week Thomas DeSchutter from Bloom Strategies interviews Todd Talbot, Canadian actor and TV personality, best known for the HGTV television series Love It Or List It.
It all truly pales in comparison, work and career everything else is just a function of what is happening in your family. As important as it is to have a strong relationship with your kids, it’s equally if not more important to have a relationship with your significant other, “when me an and my wife are strong my kids benefit most.”
Todd is a hugely committed guy, “believe me I jump in with both feet, do it, and then determine if it worked or not, not predetermine if it is going to work or not. I am not a plan B kind of guy, because you are never going to be successful if you don’t go full out. That’s what I did as an actor, and I created a career that I love, but it’s different from what I thought it would be.”

This week Thomas DeSchutter from Bloom Strategies interviews business coach Shawn Bearman.
Disempowering conversations are ones that get in the way of doing the things we need to do, essentially they get in the way. Once we can teach ourselves to move these conversations out the of the way we can elevate our game so that we can move on and achieve greatness.
As personal development junkies, we look for people who hold us accountable. Shawn speaks about being present in life, how to get present and how awareness relates to being present.
Some key questions, answers or points of interest:
4:35 – The one thing, I have had to do in making this podcast.
9:28 - About throwing rocks and memory.
19:30 – The definition of integrity.
27:30 – Life is just going to keep on life-ing.
28:10 – Is there one distinction that moves people into action?
38:04 - How intuitive is our body?
40:06 – On disempowering conversations.
48:01 - How can people get ahold of Shawn?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a long and rich history, and is one of the oldest forms of medicine, with its roots dating back thousands of years. The fact that TCM has existed for this long, and is still used today is a testament to its value as a form of healthcare.
For me, “Alternative Health” care practitioners are my starting point when I am seeking medical care. The balance that I feel in my health has come from the knowledge that those practitioners have shared with me and from the treatments that they have prescribed.
Dr. Kevin Preston is a student of health. He is a dedicated family man and passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. His history of success with his patients speaks volumes to what his team can do for people and the level of excellent Alternative Health care that they are providing.
I was referred to Dr. Preston by a friend of mine and went to see him. Not so much because I was feeling any particular way, more for a thorough checkup. I really wanted to know how my internal flow was working. Were there any blockages where energy was getting stuck?
To my enjoyment, I came away knowing that I was on the right path and some fine tuning was required. I was so impressed with my experience and the knowledge that was shared I had to have Dr. Preston on the show.
Some key questions, answers or points of interest:
9:44 - What is cupping?
16:16 - What does the tongue tell you?
16:33 - Dr. Preston talks about too much heat or too much cold in the body.
27:11 - What lights up Dr. Preston about being a TCM practitioner.
29:50 - Chronic illness on the rise.
38:04 - How intuitive is our body?
41:32 - Reflecting on our learnings from our kids.
43:54 - How we work with our patients.
I hope you enjoy.

This week Thomas DeSchutter of Bloom Strategies, interviews Joel Solomon, author of the new book, The Clean Money Revolution.
I must admit that the whole idea of socially responsible investing (SRI) has always seemed like a bit of a long shot. Approaching my 20th year in the investment and advisory world I am still finding it difficult to get around the screening process that the SRI index funds and mutual funds have in place. A simple scan of the companies that show up regularly in the index leaves me scratching my head. I need not look further than the big banks. They typically pass all of the first level SRI screens (environmental stewardship, consumer protection, human rights, and diversity), yet who are they lending their money to? What do those companies stand for? If I support the bank either by way of being a customer or as a shareholder, I am essentially saying I support your business model and choices.
Another example would be large pharma. They might meet all of the first level screening and yet they could be producing the anti-biotics that are being used in our food supply, something I am not comfortable with. Again how do I vote with my dollars? Supporting the share price through the SRI index or mutual fund is a vote in support.
Enter Joel Solomon and his work at Renewal Funds: Renewal Funds is a mission venture capital firm investing in early growth stage companies in Canada and the United States. We add value for entrepreneurs through capital, networks, and expertise. We deliver above market returns for our partners while catalyzing positive social and environmental change.&nbs
Holy… this was one of those times that I will not forget and will probably rank as the most unique BloomLiving podcast for a long time. We were 35,000 feet up and on the edge of the Universe. Sometimes we sound like we are 30,000 miles out there, like two giddy school boys that just pulled one on the teacher and got away with it. Dr. Sukhi and I can lose ourselves in an exchange of ideas. It is often mixed with laughs, deep thinking, bad humour and a big bucket of natural flow. We are not editing ourselves, we are not concerned how we might sound to someone listening in, we are speaking from our hearts and ready to share the moment—the next big thing that pops into our heads.
We flew United Air. It was a few short weeks after a whole-lotta bad press that they generated for themselves. Maybe that’s why the flight attendants left us alone or maybe it was because we had an energy about us that invited people to just leave us be. In any case we felt supercharged. We were lost in our little bubble and together we created something that, for us, is magical.
Did we share the space with God? Being two spiritually guided Beings, we are always sharing the space with our higher power, God, the Universe, the Almighty, (enter your preferred name of choice). I know we both have the experience of feeling closer to Source when both feet are off the ground and we are flying at that elevation.
I can’t tell you how many podcasts are out there that have been recorded while flying in the lower boundary of the stratosphere. What I can tell you is that I am super grateful to have had this opportunity. This was not on the agenda for our first season and the fact that we went from episode one to episode two was a welcomed victory for me. Getting to number 10? Humbling. And so I decided—at the last minute—that achieving double digits was an opportunity for something unique and raw. A reason to stretch out a little and get uncomfortable. I have been creating from my heart for a while now and I have come to learn that growth happens for an artist when we put out the work and let it be a stamp in time. For the BloomLiving podcast that is a core tenet.
I believe that everything starts with a conversation, either with yourself or with someone else and then the collective spirit of our united lives on this planet kicks in. We are in a constant exchange of energy and flow. And when we take a moment to tap into it, when we quiet everything else around us just enough to hear it, we can create magic for ourselves and maybe for others as well.
As always we welcome your comments or suggestions.

This week Thomas DeSchutter of Bloom Strategies, interviews Julian DeSchutter of Chasing Sunrise.
Julian and his roommate Gordon made a pact that for 21 days they would both get up at 4:30am and focus on doing the things they love. This grew into a community of people who do more before breakfast than most people do in the whole day. Chasing Sunrise puts on meets ups before dawn to climb mountains, jump in lakes and watch the sunrise from spectacular places.
Some Questions I ask:
At (00:04:15) Where are you going with this?
At (00:05:38) So, you’re out to shift that mentality, is that it?
At (00:08:38) So you just liked Lego as a kid?
At (00:19:59) So it’s kind of like the randomness to what you’re doing that people are getting attracted to?
At (00:23:00) Do you have some things brewing right now that you can sort of share but not give the full details on, or is that secret information that can’t be heard?
At (00:28:38) What’s with the handstands?

Thomas DeSchutter is the co-founder of Bloom Strategies and author of the book, Bloom Your Money, Your Life, available on Amazon.
This week, Thomas DeSchutter of Bloom Strategies, interviews Ryan Yada of Flow Motion Entertainment and founder of Being Man.
Ryan has spent his entire adulthood building community. When he was working in the country of Malta he started the first ever women's softball league in that country. He was also part of the creation behind a men’s hockey league and he says, “I was the best ice hockey player in an entire country, then I moved away.” For a Canadian kid, that is a blessing.
His greatest strength lies in his humble, loving, and caring demeanor. He is a connector of people and ideas and he lives by the very words that he speaks. Family is at the top of his list and he brings family values to everything that he takes on.
Being man is his brain child, “If we can heal men, restore fathers to doing what fathers do, and rediscover what masculinity truly is, then we can heal the world. Amen.”
If you hear the calling to do more as a man, become the greatest version of yourself, have the support of other conscious men and be a massive contribution to those around you, please reach out to Being Man through email, info@beingman.today.

This week Thomas interviews Kinesiologist and friend Tim Begley.
Tim is a young man who kick-started a cascade of positivity in the lives of all, we shared some laughs talking about fitness, cold therapy, nutrition, and raising a family.
We got into some great tips for creating your grown up bedtime routine and why post-workout recovery is just as important as the exercise itself. His view on fitness is that "the workout you just did just made you weaker" and that the strategy around recovery is critical. And the major part of that recovery is bedtime.
Tim has a four-pillar approach to coaching his clients, fitness, nutrition, mindset, and recovery. His experience around the world of gyms was one of intimidation which led to people not going to the gym. It is the reason he calls his business Positive Shift.

There are times in your life when you met or will meet someone that can be a game changer and teach you some new ways to process information, handle growth, and shift the very way in which you perceive situations.
Dr. Sukhi has had that kind of an impact on my life.
This week on the premier episode of the #BloomLiving Podcast, “The Sky Has No Limit” I discuss with Dr. Sukhi being present as a father and husband, performing as a high performance athlete limiting beliefs and the false ceiling they create, and the importance of setting up each day to win.
“And so, you know my whole Dr. Sukhi catch phrase is that the sky is not the limit. Whatever your mind can conceive, you can achieve. And my life has been you know, so abundant and fruitful and my biggest thing now is there’s no limiter. Like the sky is not the limit. 2016 has been one of the biggest growth years in my life. And I could have very easily in 2013 eased the seat back and just coasted the next 15/20 years of my life.
And I feel like, I’m just getting warmed up.”
It was truly my honour to have him as our first guest to the podcast and he certainly did not disappoint.
The sad part is that we only had an hour and the really great part is that he agreed to back on the show anytime.
