The Whole Ref’n Show FROM HELL!!! On this week’s episode, our heroes Daryn and Perry discuss VICE’s Dark Side of the Ring episode about WWE’s 2002 “Plane Ride From Hell.” Everybody’s got opinions, but our boys are the only ones calling “right down the middle!” Believe that! From the accusations against Ric Flair, Scott Hall and Dustin Runnels, to the commentary of Mike Chioda, RVD and Justin Credible, we discuss childish behavior, unprofessional behavior and illegal behavior. Please fasten your safetybelts, there will be some turbulence. There is also discussion this week about Big E’s title win as well as Samoa Joe’s title surrender. Also, we almost went with the intro, “The Whole Ref’n Show 2.0,” so you know we are talking about the debut of the “spin-art brand,” NXT2.0! What are they doing in Orlando!? And what did AEW find in Flushing Meadows? NOT Fran Drescher, but perhaps a “MOTY” candidate between Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega! It was the “Grand Slam Dynamite” tennis extravaganza from Arthur Ashe Stadium, and AEW is starting to look like the company they promised they would be (minus the tennis part)! It’s called a “The Whole Ref’n Show pop” now, so get it right or pay the price! Our heroes Daryn and Perry dive headfirst into criticism of the otherwise much lauded return of C.M. Punk. As the artist formerly known as Philip Jujitsu Brooks made a huge splash in Chicago on AEW Rampage, the internet broke, they renamed the “Road Warrior pop,” Tommy Dreamer fell in love with a crying guy, and wrestling fans fought in the streets over ice cream bars and banded t-shirts! I guess the dude really IS a cult of personality. As for the company that Punk shit all over in his return speech, WWE had their annual SummerSlam weekend, emanating partially from the city that never knew a Sunday, Las Vegas! On a Saturday night, WWE hosted a superspreader event of 56,000+ and feted 2 massive surprise returns of their own, resulting in 2 massive unsurprising burials. Our boys get back to formula this week by speaking with great zeal about the WTFamania that is WWE booking. Daryn and Perry discuss every match from SummerSlam as well as the last yellow and black NXT event, Takeover 36. It's a FEST-tastic week here on The Whole Ref'n Show! After what seems like an excruciating hiatus, FEST Wrestling presents the Hardcore Hunt 2, and our heroes Daryn and Perry are joined by Rich Bocchini to break down the card. As usual, this trio is Hogtown-bound for hijinks, and there's as much hilarity as there is analysis. The "straight-man" Rich Bocchini is, however, as capable as ever before dealing with the hosts with the mosts. But that's not all! These superfans are relegated to the pity pile of botherers, sycophants and even detractors by the very athletes and entertainers they love. And it seems the more devoted the fan, the more involved and engaged the fan, the stronger the effort to close them out becomes.
