It’s been over three decades since the bodies of three young women were found in Salt Lake and Davis county. Back then, police claimed the murders of Christine Gallegos, Lisa Strong, and Carla Maxwell were connected.
The link? The same gun was used in all three murders. To date, only one of the murders has been solved.
In 1971 D.B. Cooper became a legend after hijacking a plane in the northwest. He threatened to blow up the plane and demanded $200,000. D.B. Cooper parachuted out of the plane with the money and was never seen or heard from again.
It happened again six months later this time here in Utah.
Richard McCoy was arrested two days after the hijacking. The 29-year-old was a family man, a BYU student and a pilot with the Utah National Guard. In this "Justice Files" podcast, ABC4's Marco Ortiz explores if McCoy was D.B. Cooper.
More than two decades ago, little Rosie Tapia was kidnapped from her Salt Lake City bedroom on August 13th, 1995.
Her lifeless body was found in a canal off the Jordan River after she was sexually assaulted and murdered.

It was a murder that shocked the community of Richfield. In 2014, Ed Callison pleaded guilty to murdering his wife and dismembering and burning her body.
