Minions & Monsters Beats Toy Story 5—Plus New Toys and Comics!
Movie Battle: Minions & Monsters vs. Toy Story 5 —Minions & Monsters opened July 1 and narrowly defeated Toy Story 5 over the July Fourth weekend. It earned approximately $36.4 million over the three-day weekend and $61.4 million over five days, while Toy Story 5 earned another $31 million during its third weekend. However, Toy Story 5 remains the bigger overall hit, with approximately $764 million worldwide so far. Opening Line“Your Nerd Side is going full nostalgia this week — He-Man is back, She-Ra could be next, Supergirl is getting ready to fly, Spider-Noir is bringing Nicolas Cage into live-action Marvel weirdness, The Boys wrapped its final season, Star Wars is going tactical, Indiana Jones is returning to comics, Wolverine is slicing into PlayStation, and we’re giving a shoutout to a voice actor gamers know well: Chris Murphy.”1. Masters of the Universe / He-ManThe new live-action Masters of the Universe movie is bringing back He-Man for a new generation. The cast includes Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, and Kristen Wiig as Roboto. Host angle:
This is not just another reboot — this is Hollywood testing whether the big 1980s toy-cartoon universe can work again as a modern fantasy franchise.Quick line:
“He-Man is back, Skeletor is back, and Hollywood is once again asking: can the power of Grayskull power a whole new movie universe?”2. She-Ra AngleEven if She-Ra is not the main focus yet, this is the natural fan question: if He-Man works, does She-Ra come next?Host angle:
She-Ra may be the smartest expansion point because she has both 1980s nostalgia and a newer fanbase from the Netflix animated version.Quick line:
“If Masters of the Universe hits, don’t be shocked if fans immediately start chanting for She-Ra — because that may be the real franchise test.”3. Chris Murphy — Voice Actor SegmentChris Murphy is an American voice actor, writer, and producer. For gamers, he is best known as the voice of Murray in the Sly Cooper video game series. Behind The Voice Actors also lists him as Murray, and Streamily promotes him as “the voice of the amazing Murray from Sly Cooper.” Important clarification:
This is not Senator Chris Murphy. This is Chris Murphy the voice actor, connected to PlayStation-era gaming nostalgia.Host angle:
Murray was the big-hearted, funny muscle of the Sly Cooper crew. Chris Murphy helped make that character memorable for a whole generation of PlayStation fans.Quick line:
“And a quick shoutout for gamers: Chris Murphy, the voice of Murray from Sly Cooper, is one of those actors whose voice lives rent-free in the heads of PlayStation kids everywhere.”4. SupergirlSupergirl is heading toward its June 26, 2026 theatrical release, with Milly Alcock starring as Kara Zor-El. The movie is inspired by the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, and recent coverage says the final trailer is pushing big space adventure, action, and Krypto energy. Host angle:
This is DC trying to prove the new universe is bigger than just Superman and Batman.Quick line:
“Supergirl is not just Superman’s cousin anymore — DC is putting her front and center, and the question is whether fans are ready for Kara to carry the cape.”5. Spider-NoirSpider-Noir stars Nicolas Cage in a live-action noir-style Spider-Man story. Reuters reported that the series blends superhero storytelling with classic film noir and can be watched in black-and-white or color. Host angle:
This is one of the strangest and coolest Marvel-adjacent projects because it is not trying to look like every other superhero show.Quick line:
“Nicolas Cage as a 1930s noir Spider-Man? That is either crazy or brilliant — and honestly, with Cage, it might be both.”
Your Nerd Side — Weekly RecapWolverine video game:
SNIKT! Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac is officially set for September 15, 2026 on PS5, giving fans a darker, bloodier solo Wolverine game from the team behind Marvel’s Spider-Man. The Boys:
The Boys has reached its wild, bloody series finale with Season 5, Episode 8, “Blood and Bone,” which dropped May 20, 2026. The ending is getting big fan reaction, especially around Homelander, Butcher, and whether the finale felt epic enough. Spider-Noir:
Nicolas Cage is officially leading Spider-Noir, playing a 1930s private investigator version of the Spider-Man mythos. The cool hook: you can watch it in black-and-white or color, making it feel like superhero meets classic detective noir. Indiana Jones comics:
Marvel is bringing back Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures in two deluxe hardcover volumes, collecting classic Marvel Indy stories and movie adaptations. These hit in September 2026, with collector-style leatherette binding, debossed covers, and ribbon bookmarks
. 30-second show scriptThis week on Your Nerd Side: Wolverine is finally ready to pop the claws, with Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine slashing onto PS5 on September 15, 2026. The biggest box-office nerd story right now is Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which added about $153 million worldwide this weekend and pushed its global total to roughly $629 million, making it one of the year’s biggest theatrical stories so far.
On the Marvel side, Spider-Man: Brand New Day now has its official release date locked for July 31, 2026, which keeps the MCU conversation hot going into summer. Marvel is also pushing fresh hype around
The Punisher: One Last Kill, and its site is actively promoting Wonder Man Season 2 as part of the wider Marvel TV pipeline.
For Star Wars, the current headline item is Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. The series began with a two-episode premiere on April 6, 2026, and new episodes are rolling out weekly on Disney+, with the finale set for May 4.
That gives you a clean “Star Wars is leaning darker with Maul again” angle. DC also has fresh movement today: Dark Knights of Steel II was announced on April 13, and DC says Superman/Spider-Man #1 is already going back for a second printing arriving May 27, which tells you crossover demand is strong.
Marvel’s new-comics list for April 15 includes titles like Godzilla: Infinity Roar #3, Magik & Colossus #3, Ultimate Wolverine #16, Venom #257, and X-Men United #2. That gives you a nice “Marvel’s leaning hard into mutants, monsters, and cross-brand energy” read. A second useful comics beat is that Marvel recently rolled out books like Daredevil #1, Wonder Man #1, Marvel Rivals: Duel of Kings #1, and Alien: King Killer #1, which shows how they’re mixing evergreen heroes with game tie-ins and genre IP. DC’s oddball-but-fun digital crossover lane is also alive: Supergirl/Blade debuted on April 8 as a vertical-scroll crossover on DC Universe Infinite / DC GO!. That is a good “comics are getting weirder in a fun way” talking point.
Big headline of the week: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the current box-office monster. Deadline reports it is tracking to more than $370 million worldwide and Variety says it pulled $48.3 million Friday domestically, with a projected $129.4 million traditional weekend, making it the biggest opening of the year so far. That gives you a clean lead story: game adaptations are still gold, and Nintendo/Universal look like they’ve turned Mario into a true event franchise.
Star Wars buzz: Disney+ launches Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord on April 6, 2026 with a two-episode premiere, then two episodes weekly through the May 4 finale. Even bigger for fans, Lucasfilm already confirmed Season 2 before Season 1 even premieres, so the confidence level is high. Also, The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22, 2026, which is a strong “Star Wars is back on the big screen” talking point.
Marvel movie/TV angle: Marvel’s next Spidey film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is set for July 31, 2026, while Avengers: Doomsday remains one of the biggest tentpoles on deck for December 18, 2026. On the TV side, The BoysSeason 5 premieres April 8, 2026 on Prime Video and is the final season, so superhero fatigue is not killing interest when the hook is “final chapter.”
DC watch: DC has Supergirl landing in theaters June 26, 2026, and the new teaser push gives you a nice compare/contrast segment against Marvel’s 2026 slate. A good on-air question is whether DC’s newer, cleaner rollout under Gunn is finally becoming easier for casual fans to follow.
Spider-Man is dominating chatter again.
A first look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day dropped today, which is putting Tom Holland back at the center of movie conversation and boosting Marvel buzz heading into the next phase.
Marvel hype is getting an Oscars/Summer-event lift.
Marvel also got a visibility bump from a high-profile RDJ/Chris Evans Avengers reunion at the Oscars, which Variety explicitly framed as stoking anticipation ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.
Pokémon’s 30th anniversary is a huge fandom wave.
Pokémon is in full anniversary mode: The Pokémon Company launched official 30 Years of Pokémon celebrations, anniversary merch, Pokémon Day programming, and themed activations, so the franchise is having a major nostalgia-plus-merch moment.
Nintendo / game-adjacent hype is strong because Mario is looking massive.
Early box-office tracking for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie points to a potentially huge opening, which is making Mario one of the hottest crossovers between gaming and film right now. 5. Anime fandom is hot on new announcements and event releases.
Fresh anime news includes a newly announced Tank Chair TV anime, a new trailer for Sekiro: No Defeat, and continuing Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle theatrical momentum in North America. That combination of new adaptation reveals plus big franchise sustainment is very “online anime fandom in March 2026.”
There isn’t a direct 1-to-1 episode of Justice League that perfectly mirrors the plot of Captain America: The First Avenger, but a few episodes from the DC animated universe capture very similar themes—especially World War II heroes, frozen soldiers, and someone waking up in the modern era.
The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn’t been released yet mainly because of marketing strategy and scheduling decisions, not because the movie is in trouble. Several factors are involved:1. Sony and Marvel Are Following a Late-Trailer StrategyStudios sometimes release the first teaser only 3–4 months before the film. For example, the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped about 116 days before the movie came out.
* Brand New Day releases July 31, 2026.
* If they follow the same pattern, the trailer would appear around early April 2026.
So in Hollywood terms, it’s not actually “late” yet.

Brand New Day Could Introduce the MCU's Jean Grey (Sadie Sink's casting in Spider-Man: Brand New Day ) Theories run the gamut, from relatively believable postulations that she could play Peter Parker's new love interest, perhaps Gwen Stacy or Felicia Hardy, to outside-the-box ideas that she could be the time-travelling Mayday Parker, Peter and MJ's daughter from an alternate future. One theory that falls squarely in the center of this broad range is that Sink has been cast as the MCU's Jean Grey.

Peace maker
Fortnite has pulled the Peacemaker "Peaceful Hips" emote following the latest episode of the hit DCU series, entitled "Ignorance Is Chris," which confirmed Season 2's biggest fan theory. Specifically, the alternate dimension showcased throughout Season 2 of Peacemaker is in fact the Nazi-ruled timeline of Earth-X. Subsequently, the "Peaceful Hips" emoji, which is based on a dance sequence from Season 2's opening dance number, has come under intense scrutiny, leading some to speculate that it is in fact a reference to an anti-Nazi Donald Duck short and/or the Nazi swastika. In a statement released via Twitter on Sept. 28, the official Fortnite Status account noted, "We're disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner's creative intentions in this collab emote. Assuming it's not coming back, we'll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks."

Tenn Graneet John Sner from San Ramon emailed Us: whats the back story I’ve been seeing about the gunner In Star Wars who fired the death Star:Tenn joined the Republic Navy as an assistant gunner when he was 20 years old, serving throughout the Clone Wars and continuing to do so after the Galactic Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire. He was eventually promoted to the rank of master chief gunnery officer and transferred to the Death Star. Tenn was ecstatic about this at first; he was a staunch supporter of the Empire who reveled in the opportunity to wield such a powerful weapon. He did not expect it to actually be used against inhabited planets. He assumed that the Empire only built it as a fear tactic, which was partially true, but Grand Moff Tarkin believed that the greatest way to inspire fear was to make an example of Alderaan. As soon as Tenn fired the superlaser, he was wracked with guilt and suffered a mental breakdown. With the pull of a lever, he had wiped out two billion lives.

James Gunn Is Making the Right Call by Making Death Permanent
DC Studios isn't just rebooting Superman, but an entire universe full of heroes. Therefore, a lot will need to become established early on to give audiences an idea of what's in store. The interconnectivity is one element DC Studios is borrowing from the MCU.Still, the DCU will feature some noticeable differences that will provide a new experience for viewers. Instead of starting with origin stories, the DCU will jump into a world of metahumans who have been around for 300 years. There won't be a slow build to bizarre comic book concepts either, since the MCU has done a lot of the heavy lifting for the general audience. Making death permanent is a rule the DCU will operate under, which will get audiences invested in the franchise long-term.

Spider-Man: Brand New Dayis getting tantalizingly close to production ahead of its planned release date of July 31, 2026. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsdirector Destin Daniel Cretton will helm the upcoming sequel, replacing Jon Watts, who worked on all three of the previous Spider-Manfilms. Brand New Dayis set to kick off Tom Holland's second trilogy of Marvel Cinematic Universe films, opening a new chapter for his iteration of Peter Parker after the landmark events of No Way Home.Though Holland's fourth Spider-Manfilm is still early in its development, rumors are already spreading about what audiences should expect and who may appear therein. The latest reports for Spider-Man: Brand New Daysuggest that the film will feature a packed cast, including at least three major villains from the comics. While fans may shudder at the idea of Brand New Daybeing an overstuffed mess like The Amazing Spider-Man 2or Spider-Man 3, I think there is a common denominator between these characters that hints at the upcoming film's intriguing story.Anyone who has been paying attention to the recent rumors and reports about Spider-Man: Brand New Dayknows that the film is expected to include an overabundance of Spider-Man villains. While there has been no official confirmation of which antagonists will appear in the movie, various insiders have reported that characters like Scorpion, Tombstone, Mister Negative, Black Cat, and Tarantula could all show up to battle Spider-Man in his next cinematic outing. For many Spider-Man fans, these rumors could evoke bad memories of past franchises. Both the Sam Raimi Trilogy and Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Manmade a similar mistake in their final films, including far too many characters (particularly villains) for a movie. Spider-Man 3featured a trio of villains, including Venom, New Goblin, and Sandman.

Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane."The synopsis of the reboot has shared more details about what's been happening with the Hill family since fans last saw them in the original show. Surprisingly, Hank had taken up a job in Saudia Arabia, taking him away from Arlen for many years before his eventual return to his old home. Meanwhile, Bobby is now working as a professional chef, a nod to how the original show explored the character's passion and talent for cooking.

How to Train Your Dragon marks the latest example, just weeks after Disney's Lilo & Stitch hit. Per Deadline, How to Train Your Dragonis off to a great start, debuting with an $83.7 million opening week, the highest in the franchise so far.The How to Train Your Dragon animated trilogy was a big commercial hit.Overall, it grossed $1.63 billion worldwide at the box office against a joint budget of $439 million (via

The Last of US
Despite Season 1's popularity, HBO did not prepare for a quick turnaround for Season 3. The season was confirmed on April 9, 2025, just four days before the sophomore season's April 13 release date, but that early renewal still left little time for the writing and filming process. Production has not yet begun for Season 3, as the seasons were not filmed back-to-back, despite their initial success. The initial expectation was that filming would begin in the summer; however, it will likely be a lengthy production process, and there will be ample post-production work to ensure that the visual effects are of the highest quality. If the schedule follows the same path as season 2, it will be years before Abby and Ellie return to the small screen. Season 2 was announced on January 27, 2023, and production began on February 12, 2024. The year-long delay was substantial, but it was largely due to the industry-wide SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes of 2023. Still, even after filming began in earnest, it took months to conclude, as production only officially ended in August. If Season 3 follows a similar path, filming would not end until December 2025 or early 2026, and that is only if the cast arrives on set in Summer 2025. Isabela Merced (Dina) told Varietythat the season may not begin production until 2026. Given that new piece of information, The Last of Us Season 3 is unlikely to debut until late 2026 or even 2027.
Walt always hated Goofy and he would’ve deep-sixed Goofy a long time ago if the studio didn’t need to make those movies to give ‘make work’ to so many of the animators. Boy, he hated Goofy.Keeping this in mind, it's easy to suggest that Walt Disney felt that Goofy was bringing down the tone of the studio. While his stupidity was entertaining to young audiences, it didn't highlight the real work that was going on in the company. But as the company continued to expand and hire more animators, it seemed that Walt needed to give them something to do while their superiors were working on the money-making projects. Overall, while fans will never truly know how Walt Disney felt about Goofy, Gaber's claims about the character offering "make-work" do fit the narrative.

The first recorded reference of the phrase being used was on Thursday May 3, 1979, the day of the 1979 UK General Election in which Margaret Thatcher was elected as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. To express their support before the votes were counted, her political party, the Conservatives, purchased a half-page advertisement on page 13 of the London Evening News reading "Dear Maggie, May the Fourth Be with You. Your Party Workers."[
In the 1988 episode of Count Duckula, "The Vampire Strikes Back", a space-faring superhero, Tremendous Terrance, asks Duckula the date and is told, "May the Fourth". As Terrance departs, he tells all below, "May the Fourth be with you."
The phrase was used in a UK Parliament defence debate on May 4, 1994.

Operating at the height of the prohibition Era, “Hotel Ryde” became notorious and surely enshrouded by a veil of exciting mystery. These days were not long lived. Three early raids on the Speakeasy discouraged business in the the late 20’s and a fourth, in 1930 led to the tunnel being sealed over forever and the bootleg booze went down the drain, both figuratively and factually speaking. While dinners were still served in the main dinning room, the hotel trade dwindled and the elegance faded. The lively riverboats, in time disappeared from the river taking with them much of the color and enchantment. The hotel was reduced to a dwelling place for migrant workers. The casino beneath became a massive storeroom where mounds of junk mingled with pieces of lovely imported furniture, boxes of small demitasse cups and other treasures, all growing moldy and dusty, guarding their well kept secrets from out of the past.

These characters are appealing and we need to see more of them.”

He comes to me and says, 'Oh, I have a deal with Netflix' and when we ask Netflix, they don't know anything about it. It's one of those crazy things. I hope he figures it out. I think you do it like 'Unforgiven', where you play the age. There's a great script out there that John Milius wrote, and others have written one. The story is there. There are directors who want to do it. But he has the rights, and until he sells the rights for one or two movies, or for the franchise, there's nothing you can do about it."Arnold Schwarzenegger tells
The Hollywood Reporter that he is done playing the Terminator. “The franchise is not done. I’m done. I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to The Terminator. Someone has to come up with a great idea. The Terminator was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly. The first three movies were great. Number four [Salvation] I was not in because I was governor. Then five [Genisys] and six [Dark Fate] didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew that ahead of time because they were just not well written.”
Michael J Fox tells Variety magazine that he doesn't care if ''Back to the Future'' gets rebooted. “I’m not fanatical. Do what you want. It’s your movie. I got paid already. I don’t think it needs rebooting because are you going to clarify something? You’re going to find a better way to tell the story? I doubt it.”Christopher Lloyd, aka Doc Brown, says, “I would love to do a sequel, but I think Bob Zemeckis and [producer Steven] Spielberg felt that they told the story in the three episodes. But if somebody has a brilliant idea that would justify a fourth film it might happen.”
Star War Nites at Disneyland are a part of the Disneyland After Dark set of events. These special themed nights are after-hours parties that allow guests to enjoy special themed entertainment. These are separate ticket events that take place on a select number of nights each year.
Special exclusive Star Wars characters will be out in the parks. Last year we loved seeing the Ewoks. Characters mentioned already for the 2023 event include Captain Phasma and her Stormtroopers appearing in Tomorrowland and the Tusken Raider and Jawas. There will also be a lightsaber instructional demonstration where you'll learn to handle a lightsaber through a series of elite moves to bring our your inner Jedi.Guests will also receive a commemorative credential and guide map as well as unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass digital photos taken during the party. (Credentials and maps are limited to one per ticketed person.)You'll also find Star Wars-themed eats and treats, merchandise, photo opportunities, and more.Star Wars costumes are encouraged though guests will still have to follow the Disneyland costume policy.
The main entertainment showstopper is the Star Wars themed fireworks which take place at 9:30PM. This is definitely the not miss event of the evening! Star Wars fans will love this fireworks show. My favorite part was easily the snippet featuring Duel of Fates. The fans in the crowd went wild for this- myself included! But the fireworks are such a big draw that you can easily use this time to take advantage of shorter character lines!Other notable entertainment options include:
* Galactic DJ Party Zone
+ Main Street, U.S.A.
* Fleet of Fandom
+ Main Street, U.S.A.
* Lightsaber Meetup
+ Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge
* March of First Order
+ Tomorrowland
* Lightsaber Masters
+ Fantasyland
* Overall, we had a great experience at our Disneyland After Dark event. We weren't able to do everything we wanted to but we decided in advance what our top priorities were and managed them quite well.We mobile ordered food before the party began which allowed us to skip any long food line waits. If a Disneyland After Dark event takes place during your next vacation, I'd recommend checking it out whether you're going for the specific theme or just utilizing the no wait times for rides!

He says Harrison pulled it off because he was able to pretend that he was 35 instead of 79. ''Ford is incredibly gifted and agile which made it easy to pretend that he was 35 when filming the scenes. We had hundreds of hours of footage of him in close-ups, in mediums, in wides, in every kind of lighting, night and day. I could shoot Harrison on a Monday as, you know, a 79-year-old playing a 35-year-old, and I could see dailies by Wednesday with his head already replaced

The International News quotes him as saying, "It's tough, because look, I love that role deeply. He means so much to me, and I really do. I think there's more Steve Rogers stories to tell, sure. But at the same time, I'm very, very precious with it. It's like this little shiny thing that I have that I love so much, and I just don't want to mess up in any way, and I was a part of something that was so special for the special period of time and in a way, it really landed so well. As much as I'm connected to that role and love telling those stories and working with those people. It doesn't quite feel right right now."

I just feel like it will come around again. What’s most amazing about Back to the Future is that -- and it has nothing to do with me -- but it has this life. He said, “When I look at these big, spectacular films — I’m looking at you, Marvel and DC — it doesn’t matter how old the characters are, they all act like they’re in college. Those characters don’t experience it, and I think that’s not the way to make movies.”

Perez Hilton says Disney may once again cast Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture. With [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer riding high on the massive success of Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, there is huge appetite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises. The Batman: First Trailer Revealed at DC FanDome
A new day is dawning in Gotham City and we finally have our first look at Warner Bros. and DC’s next iteration of the iconic Dark Knight. Director Matt Reeves took the virtual stage for Saturday’s DC FanDome event and introduced the first ever footage of his upcoming film, The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. Fans have been waiting for quite some time to see Pattinson in action, and this footage finally grants that opportunity. You can check it out above!
The Batman was initially scheduled to arrive in theaters next summer, but the date was pushed to the fall due to the shutdowns caused by COVID-19. The film’s London production was put on hold a few weeks after beginning, so there is still quite a lot of work left to do. The current plan is for filming to resume next month, moving from an actual location to a set. Fortunately, according to co-writer Mattson Tomlin, these delays haven’t caused any changes to the film itself.
“No. I mean, the movie is the movie, and I think that right now the plan is to just execute that vision,” Tomlin told us. “They were quite a ways into shooting as it was. And so it really is just how do you finish safely? How do you make sure that everybody can show up for work and then go home and all be okay?”
Pattinson takes on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, three years after Ben Affleck played the character in Justice League. Other actors that have portrayed the DC icon in live-action include Adam West, Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney.
In addition to Pattinson, The Batman stars Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
Fonseca talks with Alexis Cruz American actor, known for his performances as Rafael in Touched by an Angel and as Skaara in Stargate and Stargate SG-1. Born in The Bronx of Puerto Rican descent. His mother, Julia, was a songwriter. He currently resides in Los Angeles. He started his acting career when he was 9. However, when he was 13, and was auditioning for a role, the director explained to him that he was a bad actor, so Cruz decided to enter The School of Performing Arts that same year.
Cruz appeared as assistant D.A. Martin Allende in the legal drama Shark, with co-stars James Woods and Jeri Ryan. In the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love, Cruz played the role of Herman Santiago, one of the original members of the rock and roll group The Teenagers. Along with Erick Avari, he is one of only two actors to appear in both the original Stargate film and the spin-off series Stargate SG-1.
Star Wars is one the most popular film franchises of all time, with entire generations brought up on the galaxy far, far away. The nine-film Skywalker Saga ended with J.J. Abrams' The Rise of Skywalker last December, which provided an ending to the story that moviegoers had been following for decades. But it turns out that Episode IX should have actually had the name of a previous movie-- at least according to one fan who swapped all of the titles of the movies. And my mind is blown.
The clip goes chronologically through the Star Wars franchise, and argued why each title should actually be swapped. Funny enough, the hypothesis actually trades the name of Episode I and Episode IX in a way that really makes sense. Since OG prequel Episode I is focused on a young Anakin Skywalker, it would make sense for the movie to be titled The Rise of Skywalker. More literal right?
And as Palpatine is revealed to be the puppet master behind the events of the sequel trilogy in Episode IX, the video claims that it should be titled The Phantom Menace. After all, J.J. Abrams' blockbuster revealed that the events of the previous two movies including Snoke were actually all at the behest of Palpatine and his secret, menacing ways.
Fonseca and AMV talk with voice actor Larry Kenny, Kenney was part of the regular cast on the Imus in the Morning radio show from 1973 to 2007, where he recorded impersonations of dozens of characters, including General George Patton, Andy Rooney and Ross Perot. Also in 1973, Kenney joined 1050 WHN (now WEPN), a country music station in New York City. He originally announced the afternoon drive-time, before taking over the prestigious morning drive-time in 1974. He stayed at WHN until the fall of 1979. His show was a hit, not only for the music, but also for his comical characters who "joined" him while performing his deejay duties. He was the host of the New York edition of the television show Bowling for Dollars on WOR-TV (now WWOR-TV) from 1976 to 1979.
He is also known for his voice work as Lion-O on the 1980s Rankin-Bass cartoon ThunderCats, and Karate Kat, a martial arts blackbelt cat featured as part of The Comic Strip. He was also the voice of Bluegrass in SilverHawks and Dolph in TigerSharks. Kenney also did voice work for several breakfast cereal characters, including Count Chocula and Sonny the Cuckoo Bird. In recent years, he has reprised this role for humorous ThunderCats references on the animated series Family Guy. In the 2011 ThunderCats animated series on Cartoon Network, Kenney returned to the series, but as Claudus, Lion-O's and Tygra's Father.
Kenney provided voice-overs for The State, the 1990s sketch comedy cult classic which featured his daughter, Kerri Kenney. He was also the announcer for VH1's Best Week Ever during its run from 2004–2009, and provides introductions for Westwood One's radio coverage of Monday Night Football and various other commercial work.[citation needed] He was the announcer for "102.7 The Beat" in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV and K.T.I Radio in the L.A. How Han Solo’s Infamous Kessel Run Tied Into Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Trace, Rafa and Ahsoka in Star Wars: The Clone Wars
For years, Star Wars fans have heard Han Solo brag about his famous Kessel Run, which he completed in exactly twelve parsecs thanks to the Millennium Falcon. They also got their chance to finally witness the actual feat in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Kessel is definitely a location in the Star Wars universe that’s almost exclusively linked to Han but, after the latest episode of The Clone Wars, that may not be the case moving forward.
For those who aren’t caught up on what’s been happening in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the show’s latest arc centers on Ahsoka Tano, who has left the Jedi Order. Since her departure, she’s been living in the Coruscant underworld but recently found refuge with an aspiring pilot named Trace and her shady sister, Rafa.
Ahsoka and Trace quickly became firm friends, especially after Ahsoka saved her life on two separate occasions. However, their friendship was really put to the test this week after Rafa arranged for the group to complete a job using a freighter that Trace restored.
As it so happens, Rafa arranged for the three to fly to Kessel, where they were to pick up and deliver a large shipment of spice to a crime family. Knowing the stories that surround Kessel, Ahsoka wass apprehensive, but Trace naively went along with her sister’s plan. In the end, the three found themselves captured by the Pyke crime syndicate.
Solo did an effective job of emphasizing how dangerous of a place Kessel can be, and Clone Wars does the same. Ahsoka makes repeated attempts to make Trace understand that making a spice run could have dangerous results, including losing one’s ship. It’s this specific point that causes Trace to make a rash decision.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars does an effective job of building on franchise lore and expanding on it in new ways. This can definitely be said of the “Bad Batch” story arc that kicked off the season. In terms of Kessel, its presence on the show never feels like fan service but more like a natural decision given Rafa’s desire for big jobs from high-paying clients. Giving viewers a look at how spice is processed through the use of slave labor was also a clear way of expanding what we know about Kessel and sending a pretty poignant message as well. Also, the plan Ahsoka comes up with to outsmart the Pykes is so risky it would make Han Solo proud.
With Ahsoka, Trace and Rafa now caught in a deadly situation, we can only imagine that next week’s episode will give us an even better idea of the dangers of Kessel. Star Wars: The Clone Warsis now streaming on Disney+.
Fonseca talks with actor Sean Whalen is an American actor and writer. He is known for his work in numerous TV shows, including Shannon's Deal and Grace Under Fire, as well as movies, including The People Under the Stairs and Doppelganger. He is also known for appearing as a hapless history buff in the first commercial of "Got Milk?", directed by Michael Bay, which aired in 1993.
Superman is one of DC’s strongest heroes, and can be a thorn in the side for any comic book or screenwriter who tackles him. That’s mainly because he’s super hard to defeat, so much so that ensemble features typically have to burden him with one specific task to prevent the reader to ask why he doesn’t just do everything the rest of the team is working on. Superman has had his troubles in the DC Universe, though I believe he’d struggle much more with a solid number of Marvel villains.
There are some Marvel villains that would easily crush Superman in a fight. With that being said, I’m not just going to rattle off the strongest villains that would vaporize the Man of Steel on sight. Instead, I’m taking things down a few levels and presenting some options that could be defeated by Superman, but would overall be at an advantage against him. Long story short, don’t expect Onslaught or Franklin Richards, but this list may have some touches of cosmic strength as one works their way down.
Dark Phoenix Marvel
Dark Phoenix
As demonstrated in Dark Phoenix, the Phoenix force is among the strongest entities in the X-Men universe. Through Jean Grey, it allows for psychic and telekinetic abilities that are off the charts in terms of strength. The only real way to defeat Dark Phoenix is to get through to the real Jean, who Superman doesn’t know.
immune to the effects of telepaths. This Marvel villain would be able to dominate the mind of Superman with little to no effort, and he’d be bent to her will and ultimately defeated in whatever way she chose from there. As long as Dark Phoenix didn’t try to make Supes a puppet to do her bidding and buy him time for the real Jean to intervene, I’d say this battle would come to an end rather easily.
Doctor Doom Marvel
Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom isn’t just one of the greatest Marvel villains ever conceived, he’s also a formidable foe for nearly any hero. This includes Superman, who could easily overpower Doom when it comes to brute strength, but is outmatched when it comes to matters of the mind. Doom would certainly find a way to create or find kryptonite to weaken the hero, and drastically lower the gap of strength between them.
Beyond being intellectually superior, Doctor Doom is one of the more magically proficient Marvel villains out there. Superman is invulnerable to many things, but magic is notoriously one of the things he struggles a great deal with. Provided Doom could prevent the physical power of Superman, he could easily subdue him with plenty of magic and some advance planning. If the two were to just meet on the street randomly, however, it’d really come down to how Doom learned Supes’ weakness, and if he could exploit it before Superman took a shot.
Loki Marvel
Loki
The god of mischief Loki may not be a physical threat to Superman in any way, but he does have the standard durability of an Asgardian. That alone allowed him to take a thrashing from Hulk in The Avengers, and while it didn’t look like it tickled, it was shown he walked away from the encounter in Avengers: Endgame with seemingly little to no long term damage. That’s impressive, not to mention a little intimidating.
Much like Doctor Doom, Loki is one of the notable powerful magic users of the Marvel universe. His command of magic combined with his ability to keep Superman adequately confused with his vast array of tricks, I don’t see any scenario where Superman would easily defeat Loki on his own. With the full power of the Justice League he may get it done faster than The Avengers did, but that’s not what this list is about.
Venomsaurus Rex Marvel
Venomsaurus Rex
The MCU has come a long way in elevating the quality of superhero movies, but even now, there are some things that can only be done in the comics. Case in point, we have Venomsaurus Rex, who was first conceived during the Old Man Logan comic run. This is essentially a Tyrannosaurus Rex from the Savage Lands that had eaten a symbiote chasing Logan and Clint Barton. It’s still a T-Rex, though everything about it is enhanced due to it also being inhabited by the Venom symbiote.
The Marvel villain would be one tough nut to crack for Superman, for various reasons. To start, it’s a freaking dinosaur, and while it can’t throw a punch, that symbiote ability will allow it to do a bunch of things a typical dinosaur couldn’t. Also, let’s not forget the symbiote itself would see a superior foe in Superman, and try to attach itself accordingly. Even if the T-Rex itself was killed, I’d have to think the symbiote attaching to Superman and corrupting him would be a definitive win for Marvel villains everywhere.
Electro Marvel
Electro
I’ll be the first to admit this is a dicey option. Again though, I’m looking for villains that would give Superman a run for his money, not necessarily Marvel villains that would demolish him immediately. Even still, the iconic Spider-Man villain Electro is a long shot, but under the right circumstances he could take Superman to the limit, and maybe even defeat him in a one on one battle.
While it isn’t always true of the character, Superman has been shown to be sensitive to electricity. Provided this is the case in a battle with Electro, that’s a trump card that the villain can go to again and again to exploit against Superman. With that said, even Superman is frequently shown to overcome insurmountable odds, so I could definitely see him overcoming Electro through some planning eventually. Electro would have to strike fast and keep the pressure on, and if he did that, I think he’d pull out the win.
Juggernaut Marvel
Juggernaut
With the power of Cyttorak flowing through him, Juggernaut is a powerhouse. His strength is limitless, he’s physically invulnerable, and nigh-impossible to stop physically when he gains momentum. He’s one of the stronger people in the Marvel universe, but still below as powerful as the Marvel strength chart can go. Not counting Gods though, it took Hulk being enhanced as a Horseman of Apocalypse with Celestial technology to physically stop Juggernaut in motion. In layman’s terms, it took a hell of a lot power to make that happen.
Superman would not be able to physically stop Juggernaut without some modifications of his own. Even though, the mystical power of Cyttorak is a form of magical ability, which would feasibly mean that merely getting struck by Juggernaut would injure Superman greatly. The best Superman could hope for is to outsmart or fool Juggernaut into some trap, though I don’t see a situation where the Man of Steel could effectively overcome this Marvel villain.
This week on the show the guys talk about Coronavirus and what its doing to movies, comics and more. The Most Iconic LEX LUTHOR Actors, Ranked
6. Jesse Eisenberg
Jesse Eisenbrg’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Lex Luthor isn’t exactly a fan favorite (though he’s got his admirers to be sure), but it’s hard to argue Eisenberg found a niche for Luthor as a demented wunderkind bent on manipulating the world’s heroes into fighting each other.
It’s unclear what future if any Eisenberg’s Luthor has on film, but he was last scene in a post-credits scene for Justice League in which he seemingly recruited Deathstroke to a big screen version of the Legion of Doom that may or may not ever come to fruition.
5. Jon Cryer
When The CW first announced their decision to cast Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor in Supergirl, the skepticism ran deep. Four years after finishing his 12-season run on CBS's Two and a Half Men, the actor, who many still think of as Pretty in Pink's iconic, lovable, nerdy character Duckie, the actor took a huge risk in stepping into the villainous role.
He may have played Lex Luthor's nephew Lenny in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, but that movie wasn't — how should we put this? — good. 33 years later, could Cryer find redemption in returning to this universe and playing the corrupt billionaire? Absolutely.
Cryer's take on the famous supervillain is much darker than what Gene Hackman did with the role. He's a lot closer to the comic book version of Luthor. But there is a sinister glimmer in this Luthor's eye here that is slightly reminiscent of Hackman's scenery-chewing glory. Let's be clear here, though: Cryer does not chew the scenery at all as Lex Luthor.
This Lex is self-obsessed and self-important. But he is also an absolute sociopath. It's a challenge for any actor to portray someone this evil and still make him fun for audiences to watch. Somehow, Cryer is able to find the inner joy in bringing Luthor to life. And that sinister glimmer we referenced earlier makes Lex Luthor's ongoing conflict with Supergirl all the more entertaining to watch.
4. John Shea
John Shea’s charismatic Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman version of Lex Luthor was somewhat ahead of its time, posing Luthor as an Elon Musk style tech entrepreneur with his fingers on the pulse of cutting edge technology. But unlike the modern real world archetype he foreshadowed, Shea’s Luthor had those same fingers spread into the criminal underworld as well.
Shea’s Luthor oozed confidence and friendly favor to the public, but behind the scenes his ruthless machinations and hatred of Superman colored his every action. Lois and Clark’s Luthor followed an arc far different from most versions of the character, but at the same time presented one of the most complete pictures of Luthor’s dual nature yet on screen.
3. Michael Rosenbaum
Michael Rosenbaum played perhaps the scariest version live action version of Lex Luthor – because we saw him evolve from Clark Kent’s friend to the nascent Superman’s arch-enemy almost in real time. Rosenbaum’s likable but increasingly cold Luthor was a major departure from previous well-known versions of the character like Gene Hackman’s Superman: The Movie version.
Oddly enough, Rosenbaum also portrayed the Flash in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series – and he also got a chance to portray a very different version of Luthor on that show as well in an episode where Wally West and Lex Luthor switch brains (a la Freaky Friday). The result is Rosenbaum doing his best version of Luthor impersonating the Flash, while JLU’s Luthor Clancy Brown (remember that name) turns in a performance as Rosenbaum’s Wally impersonating him – a classic bit of switcheroo.
2. Clancy Brown
Unlike his Gotham City arch-criminal equivalent the Joker, Lex Luthor doesn’t have a rich history of iconic voice portrayals that immediately spring to mind. But Clancy Brown’s Luthor, whom he voiced from Superman: The Animated Series through Justice League Unlimited, breaks that mold.
Brown’s Luthor carried a snide edge that was clearly informed by Gene Hackman’s Superman: The Movie performance (more on that later), but which went an extra mile in its vicious sarcasm. Brown’s Luthor moved from the LexCorp boardroom into the Hall of Doom and eventually to deep space, seamlessly exuding Lex’s confidence and arrogance in every context he was placed.
1. Gene Hackman
Much like his heroic counterpart Christopher Reeve’s good natured take on Superman, Gene Hackman’s affable but diabolical robber baron/real estate developer version of Lex Luthor defined the character for a whole generation of fans in Superman: The Movie and its sequels.
Hackman’s portrayal is worlds apart from some versions of the character – he’s not exactly the mad scientist supervillain type – but his Lex still informs aspects of Luthor in both comic books and subsequent film portrayals, where his grandiosity and borderline madness often come through – along with his off-beat humor.
Now Hackman's Luthor has another, more direct legacy in Superman media. John Cryer, who played Lex Luthor's nephew Lenny Luthor alongside Hackman in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, will now portray Lex Luthor on CW's Supergirl.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland
It’s not exactly a Fast & Furiousbeef– or a physical brawl like the recent one at Disneyland– but a Disney Parks executive took a clear shot at the insane 10-hour wait times initially reported for Universal Orlando Resort’s Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in defense of Disneyland’s own Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Without naming the Hagrid ride — because he didn’t have to — here’s what Disney’s Chairman of Parks, Experiences, and Products Bob Chapek said about the “win” of Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge wait times:
One of the wins that we had with the opening of the original Galaxy’s Edge is that we didn’t have the waits. The deep secret is that we don’t intend to have lines … If you build in enough capacity, the rides don’t go down and it operates at 99% efficiency, you shouldn’t have 10-hour lines. So, 10-hour lines are not a sign of success. It should be seen as a sign of, frankly, failure
Wands vs. lightsabers! He’s right, though. It’s tough to argue that a 10-hour wait time is a good thing. Sure, it sounds like there’s a lot of excitement and hype for the attraction, but on a practical level YOU go wait 10 hours with a 9-year-old.
A few months ago, Universal felt the double-edged sword of headlines about the Hagrid ride’s opening, with that early 10-hour-wait news probably exciting some fans while making others think they’d better just stay away for a long while. That Hagrid ride was so popular for a time that the park had to cut hours for a couple of weeks for maintenance.
The Disney Parks exec got on the defense a bit (via CNBC) because Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been in the news for being tied to the slight 3% downturn in Disneyland attendance this summer. He sees the positives, tied to a concerted effort by the company to manage crowds. CinemaBlend’s own Disney expert also pointed out many positives in the lighter foot traffic at Disneyland, including that shorter lines make for a better park experience. Disney execs have noted that Galaxy’s Edge is currently the most popular area in Disneyland, per Disney’s own customer satisfaction scores.
That said, one Disneyland employee recently spoke out to press about Disneyland reportedly cutting workers’ hours because they expected Galaxy’s Edge to be busier this summer. This employee said wait times for the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride were expected to be over 2-hours long all summer, but instead lines were averaging half that or less.
There’s a wide chasm between a wait of one hour and a wait of 10 hours. Obviously waiting less time is better for the visitor, and I agree that long lines is not a sign of success. I think “failure” is harsh, but a 10-hour wait time certainly suggests the demand was more than they were ready to handle.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge filled up in under an hour on its opening day in Disneyland, and now Disney World is going through the various wait time and virtual queue system updates as it welcomes its own Galaxy’s Edge land.
Disney’s Bob Chapek added that the goal when they launch the new Rise of the Resistance attraction is to make it “a success under the guest experiential definition. We don’t define success as a picture of a long line.” If the guests who actually go to the park and get into the ride enjoy it, that’s what matters most.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens first at the Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World in Florida on December 5, 2019, and then at Disneyland in California on January 17, 2020.

AMV tells us "THE BEST FEMALE" Superheroes Of All Time
With Captain Marvel still lighting up the box office, there's no question studios are looking to put female superheroes front and center. With that in mind, we're looking back at the best of the best - the most powerful, coolest, all around best superheroines of all time.
Supergirl
Supergirl may have started out as a spin-off character from Superman, but for many fans, she’s become so much more than that. DC’s Maid of Might represents a certain element of femininity that is often glossed over in fiction – the balance of girlish glee and emotional exploration with confidence and physical power.
Too often female characters must be one or the other, ultra-feminine or super-powerful, but Supergirl - who possesses all the strength of her cousin Superman while facing all the issues of a young woman - is at her best when writers strike a true balance between both sides of that coin, letting her be a real Supergirl.
That dynamic plays an important role in the CW’s Supergirl, a show that places a slightly older Kara in the central role and embraces her femininity without shying away from her ability to kick ass.
Black Widow
Black Widow has been around as a character since the 1960’s, but it’s only recently that she’s become a particularly prominent heroine in the Marvel Universe, thanks in large part to her role as a founding member of the cinematic Avengers.
But the fact that her recent success has mostly been due to her onscreen adventures doesn’t discount her role in comic books, either. Though she started out as a villain, it wasn’t long before Black Widow became an Avenger, a career she’s balanced with her black ops work alongside S.H.I.E.L.D. and on her own, even leading the team for a time.
Black Widow is finally getting her own solo film in the MCU as well, with a director having just come on board.
She-Hulk
To some, She-Hulk is the ultimate expression of feminine power. She’s indestructible, super-strong, and without inhibition – all of this with the mind of a high-powered attorney wrapped inside those unparalleled green muscles.
And while she may seem like a typical spin-off character (obviously riffing on her somewhat more famous cousin Bruce Banner), She-Hulk takes the concept of a gamma-irradiated hero to a totally different level, embracing her alter ego and living life to the fullest.
In some ways, She-Hulk also broke other boundaries – her John Byrne-penned ongoing series introduced an indestructible, fourth-wall-breaking hero with a sense of humor years before Deadpool grew a similar schtick.
She-Hulk was Deadpool before there even was a Deadpool.
She-Hulk is now a core member of the recently relaunched Avengers
Wasp
Janet Van Dyne was not only the first female Avenger, and a founder, but also the hero who named the team when they first formed. Though she started out as something of a sidekick to her on-again-off-again (currently off-again) paramour Hank Pym, Janet quickly became a hero in her own right, leading the Avengers several times, and often acting as the team’s moral center.
When crafting this list, it came down to putting either Wasp or Captain Marvel in this spot. And while Captain Marvel may be more prominent now, her trajectory has been spotty, taking her from being a damsel in distress, to a perpetual victim, to leading the Avengers and her own intergalactic defense team, while Wasp’s arc has been far more consistent. Add to that her historical significance, and it’s easy to see why she’s one of the greatest female heroes ever to grace the printed page.
And while viewers got a glimpse of Janet Van Dyne in action in Ant-Man, she took on a much larger role in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp - in which her MCU daughter Hope Van Dyne took on the mantle of the winsome Wasp.
Jean Grey
6 of 12
Jean Grey was the first X-Woman, and even bore the name of her publishing company as Marvel Girl before transitioning to her Phoenix identity in the 1970’s. But she’s more than just the first female mutant superhero – she’s also emblematic of the entire X-Men franchise, and one of the most complex, well-developed characters in comic books.
She may have started out in the typical Marvel superheroine model, but later adventures saw Jean develop a level of depth that many ensemble cast members never achieve. Between her ever developing relationship with Scott Summers, her vast and terrifying power levels, her descent into madness as the Dark Phoenix, and her penchant for self-sacrifice and redemption, Jean experienced more in her tenure as a hero than almost anyone.
Of course, the Phoenix always rises from the ashes, and a newly returned Jean Grey now leads her own team in X-Men: Red.
Batgirl
Barbara Gordon is unique among female heroes, and superheroes in general, for having not one but two vastly different and very successful superhero careers.
Barbara started out as Batgirl, using her wits, her incredible intelligence, and her physical capabilities to earn Batman’s trust as an ally and protégé. However, after years of fighting crime on the streets of Gotham, a violent encounter with the Joker left her paralyzed – but not deterred.
Though her physical challenges sometimes (not always) kept her off the streets, Barbara turned to her intelligence to make a difference. Taking on the mantle of Oracle, Barbara became the information hub for Batman’s entire network and lead the all-female superhero team the Birds of Prey.
Now she’s back in action as Batgirl, her injuries having finally been reversed.
Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers is just about the most powerful woman in the Marvel Universe, and is arguably the publisher's top female hero.
With cosmic powers, a background as a fighter pilot, a high profile movie, and that crucial Avengers membership, she's everything great about superheroes wrapped up in one sleek package.
It's no wonder the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will likely put Carol front and center, as one of the pillars of the most popular superhero brand in the world.
Storm
Storm started as the X-Men’s ingénue, a young heroine who was one of the rookie mutants recruited when the original team went missing. Alongside other X-Men mainstays like Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus, Storm rose through the ranks becoming not just a seasoned hero, but a mentor to her fellow mutants, and now serves as the Headmistress of Xavier’s school, and the leader of the X-Men.
Storm is also the first major female hero of color – a distinction that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially considering how important she’s remained in both X-Men and Marvel lore. Fans saw a new side of Storm when Alexandra Shipp took over the role of a younger version of the character in 2016' X-Men: Apocalypse, a role she's set to reprise in the film's sequel Dark Phoenix.
Invisible Woman
Marvel’s first superheroine may not have the highest profile of the characters on this list, but Sue Storm set the pace for modern female heroes – and still occupies a fairly unique place in comic books.
While its true that early stories didn’t exactly serve Sue particularly well, she developed into the heart and soul of the Fantastic Four, serving as Marvel’s first family’s de facto – and literal – mother. And that may be one of the most crucial aspects of her character.
While Sue Storm is powerful in her own right – many writers have said she’s got the most raw power of anyone on the FF – she also represents an important aspect of womanhood that many female heroes have sacrificed or had used against them – motherhood.
That Sue can serve as one of the most respected heroes in the Marvel Universe (and it’s first female hero) while simultaneously raising two children and shepherding the growth of many more through the Future Foundation can’t be understated.
Plus, it takes a pretty amazing woman to stand up to a blowhard like Reed Richards.
Wonder Woman
Diana of Themiscyra represents the best of mankind, and of womanhood. Strong, compassionate, fearless, and independent, as Wonder Woman Diana is a pillar of the Justice League and one of the greatest heroes and warriors in the entire DC Universe.
And though her real world origins are complex, William Moulton Marston and his collaborators Elizabeth Holloway Marston and Olive Byrne created an equally complex character who would grow to become a feminist icon and the character that almost anyone in the world thinks of when you say “female superhero.
This week Fonseca talks with Olivia Cathrine Hack American actress and voice actress, best known for providing the voice of Rhonda Wellington Lloyd in Nickelodeon's Hey Arnold!, and for playing Cindy Brady in the 1990s theatrical Brady Bunch films. She has also done voice work for Fillmore!, Bratz as Cloe, Family Guy, Blood+ and Avatar: The Last Airbender as Ty Lee. She appeared in Star Trek Generations, Party of Five and Gilmore Girls. As a child actress, Hack appeared in her first commercial spot when she was eight months old. Entertainment Weekly noted the authenticity of Hack's reprisal of Cindy Brady for the 1990s Brady Bunch films, and the New York Daily News made positive comparisons of Hack's work to that of Susan Olsen's Cindy from the original television series.
Star Wars Land has blue milk
Blue milk purchased at the milk stand at Galaxy’s Edge is actually a plant based beverage, something closer to rice milk than anything from a cow. It’s also been sweetened with berry and melon flavors and it’s also much thicker than actual milk, closer in consistency to a milkshake or smoothie.
AMC has confirmed that it is in “active development” of a new Walking Dead spinoff series, which will be the third show in the franchise, alongside the main The Walking Dead series and Fear The Walking Dead.
The announcement was made during AMC Networks’ quarterly earnings call with Wall Street analysts. Here’s what AMC COO Ed Carroll revealed:
“We’re not at a stage where we’ll be announcing its plans to premiere,” Carroll said. “But we have hired creative people that have pitched story outlines. We feel very good about the development of that series. We’re not in a position to talk about partnerships in terms of other territories or ancillary windows, other than that there’s a healthy appetite for it and we’ve had a number of conversations with a lot of players in the space.”
Fonseca talks withCharles Fleischer American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and musician, best known for appearing in films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Polar Express, Rango, and We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story.[1] He also reprised the role of Roger Rabbit in the Roger Rabbit theatrical shorts. After beginning his career on the comedy club circuit, Charles Fleischer's first big break in comedy television came when he made an appearance on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.
Also the crew talk about everything Valentines Day. Cards, flowers, chocolate and sex! Then we look at the: Top Ten Comic Book Love couples!
1. Clark Kent and Lois Lane
For many, the relationship between Lois and Clark is the comic book romance. They are perhaps the longest-lasting comic book couple, with Lois introduced alongside Superman in Action Comics #1. Though certain stories and timelines find Superman involved with Wonder Woman, history will always find Lois and Clark back in each other’s arms.
2. Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon
The origins of the Nightwing and Batgirl romance were first met with a lukewarm reception in the DC Comics universe, but sparks really began to fly in the late ’90s in Batman: The Animated Series and later in various Batfamily stories. Their eternal “will they or won’t they” flirtation peaked in Infinite Crisis with what has become one of the most memorable proposals in comic history.
3. Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy
Peter Parker and Mary Jane are the more famous couple, but no one — save for Uncle Ben — has had more of a profound influence on the webslinger than Peter’s first love, Gwen Stacy. Gwen was famously thrown off a bridge by the Green Goblin and Spider-Man was unable to save her. Her death sent waves through the whole Marvel universe, and continues to impact characters today.
4. The Joker and Harley Quinn
No couple in comic book history is as dysfunctional and psychotic as Harley Quinn and the Joker. Created by Paul Dini for Batman: The Animated Series, Harley Quinn was introduced as the Joker’s sidekick and has skyrocketed to fame with fans since then. The fiery, often hateful union between them has captivated readers for years.
5. Scott Summers and Jean Grey
The relationship between Scott Summers and Jean Grey is one of the mainstays of the X-Men storyline, dating back to the original run of The X-Men in 1963. Their love is a bright spot in the history of the mutants; even through marriage, divorce, death, resurrection, time travel and more, Scott and Jean always care deeply for one another.
6. Batman and Catwoman
Throughout their history, Batman and Catwoman have always danced around a possible union. Though their goals aren’t always in line with each other’s, there is no denying the chemistry they share. Their complicated relationship has become a staple of the Batman universe, reappearing in nearly every timeline.
7. Hawkman and Hawkgirl
Hawkman and Hawkgirl are the ultimate symbol of undying love. After the couple is cursed in Ancient Egypt with an alien dagger, they are destined to find and fall in love with each other in every reincarnation of their souls.
8. Reed Richards and Sue Storm
One of Marvel’s most famous couples, Reed Richards and Sue Storm represent the Silver Age of comic book romance: wholesome and devoted. Though their relationship has had its fair share of peaks and valleys, their trust and love for each other has never been broken — even when on opposite ideological sides in Marvel’s Civil War.

Marvel Giving Away Free Black Panther Comics to Celebrate Black History Month
Last week, Disney returned Marvel Studios’ Black Panther to more than 250 AMC theaters for free screenings in celebration of Black History Month. The company also made a $1.5 million donation the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
“Black Panther is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement.
“The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of Black Panther in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences, and to support UNCF with a $1.5 million grant to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students.”
The Ryan Coogler-directed blockbuster was the first Marvel Studios film to be helmed by a black director and feature a predominantly black cast. Black Panther went on to be crowned the highest-grossing domestic performer of 2018 with $700 million earned domestically; worldwide, the groundbreaking film won $1.3 billion to become the ninth highest-grossing film of all time.2
WHY DIDN’T CHEWY GET A MEDAL?
Well, that ends today. It appears this was settled long ago, but George Lucas himself. Back in 1977, Lucas recorded some character spots, and one of them explained the issue with Chewie being denied a medal for his service. You can check out what Lucas had to say about it below.
“Chewbacca wasn’t given a medal because medals don’t really mean much to Wookiees. They don’t really put too much credence in them. They have different kinds of ceremonies. The Wookiee Chewbacca was in fact given a great prize and honor during a ceremony with his own people. The whole contingent from the Rebel Alliance went to Chewbacca’s people and participated in a very large celebration. It was an honor for the entire Wookiee race.”
Well their you go!
Its cast was awarded the highest honor at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and others accepted the prize for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
