Acts 1:8 - The World Mission Podcast

Refugee Crisis in Afghanistan - The World Mission Update

Things are changing dramatically in Afghanistan and those who suffer the most are the weak and vulnerable. Meet the People of West Pokot, Kenya - The World Mission Update
Greg and Rusty made it to an area of West Pokot that is one mile from the Uganda border. Several people groups border this area which leads to frequent grazing land conflicts that have turned deadly in the past.

Reaching The Unreached in India - World Mission Update
The country of India has the highest concentration of unreached people groups of any country in the world. Over 460,000 villages have no Christian presence in this Hindu majority country. Flooding In India - World Mission Update
The monsoon season in SE Asia is devastating for poor and vulnerable communities. India, Bangladesh, and Nepal are countries World Mission is actively involved in and annual victims to the destruction. Thousands of families have lost everything as rivers and tributaries swell. Every earthly possession is swept away which is why World Mission is helping with food, shelter, and clothing. Clean Water - World Mission Update
Access to clean water is one of the greatest humanitarian needs in the world today. 1 out of 3 people in the world does not have access to clean drinking water. Some estimates say that every 21 seconds someone dies because of a lack of clean water. It is a huge need. It is a huge opportunity!
World Mission is active in drilling deepwater wells all around the world while also distributing water filters for needy communities. As we do, the motivation of our good deeds - the love of Jesus - is shared. It is amazing how God uses these simple acts of kindness to open a previously closed heart to the Good News.

The numbers are higher than at any time in history. Every 2 seconds someone is newly displaced due to war, violence, or persecution.
World Mission has active outreach going on in some of the most challenging locations.

Chittagong, Bangladesh Part II - The World Mission Update

The poverty in rural Bangladesh is staggering. Greg Kelley and Rusty Humphries are visiting villages that represent the lives of millions of Bengali people.

While in the village Greg distributes life saving water filters and is almost run over by the mob rushing to get a filter! Seeing the filthy water and then watching Greg drink is pretty remarkable and makes the villagers true believers.
The city action of Chittagong will make you appreciate your home. The lack of sanitation, hectic noise and mass amount of humanity is something you won't hardly believe. But, like Greg says, that is why World Mission is there. To share the Good News and let them know Jesus cares!

There are 133 million Shaikh living in Bangladesh. Statistically, they are 100% Muslim and in desperate need of the gospel.
Treasures will be delivered in the country in the Bengali language.

You'll meet students from a refugee camp in Tanzania that graduated from a World Mission training program. We are also introducing you to new converts from a region of India that is 80% Hindu and 20% Muslim. It is hard to believe that there are any Christians yet 6 new Christians were baptized this past week in this unreached area. Finally, we are talking about the ways God is opening the door in the disaster-prone country of the Philippines. Despite 4 recent 6.0+ earthquakes, the gospel is going forward through World Mission national leaders!

To realize 1 in every 9 followers of Jesus are living a persecuted life is almost unbelievable. Yet, Jesus and Paul both told us that we should expect persecution. In Matthew 5:10 Jesus said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
The persecuted church would want you to pray for them to have courage and boldness NOT to be protected from being persecuted. Let's stand with our brothers and sisters around the world!

Rusty Humphries and Greg Kelley are talking about how current natural disasters are creating unique opportunities to share the gospel with unreached people groups. Northern Kenya is in the midst of ongoing drought conditions. The nearly dozen different people groups are primarily pastoralists (raising animals such as goats, sheep, and camel) and depend upon these animals for their survival. World Mission is drilling water wells to help provide clean water while also sharing the solar-powered Treasure in many languages so they can hear about the love of Christ.
Meanwhile in India, the conditions are very different. Historic flooding has taken the lives of over 200 people in the state of Bihar. This state has over 110 million people and is less than 1% Christian. Showing compassion by providing basic survival resources of food and water is opening the door for the gospel to be shared!

The Central Africa Republic has endured as much or more carnage than any country in the world over the past 20 years. Dictators, coup attempts, corruption, violence, and war have defined these challenging times. This landlocked country in the central part of the continent is actually incredibly wealthy with natural resources. Filled with diamonds, gold, oil, and uranium the precious people of CAR are left destitute and fighting for daily survival. One of the greatest challenges to seeing the Great Commission fulfilled is our ability to develop leaders who are capable to make disciples. Unbelievably 85% of the churches in the world are led by men/women who have no theological training. Today we are discussing the humanitarian crisis caused by 1 million Rohingya refugees fleeing horror in Myanmar into the neighboring country of Bangladesh. Within 2 short years, Cox's Bazar (a community in Bangladesh) became the world's largest refugee camp. The conditions are dreadful from a sanitation and cleanliness perspective.
Imagine one stench filled latrine shared by hundreds of families?! Now imagine one million people that are 0.01% Christian?! Rusty and Greg are talking about how World Mission is physically helping the Rohingya while also distributing their solar-powered audio bible in their language.

The month of June represents Refugee Awareness Month and World Mission has a very active ministry to these precious people! Reaching refugees represents one of the great unprecedented opportunities for the Body of Christ. Since 68 million people are affected, we must have a strategy to show the love of Christ. A balance between humanitarian response and a loving gospel witness should be our goal. Before Jesus told us to 'go' he told us to 'wait'! That is to wait upon the Holy Spirit which gives us the ability to carry out the Great Commission. We need the Holy Spirit to help us love refugees in places like Congo, Lebanon, Somalia, Nigeria, and Bangladesh.
