The birth of Jesus was the day faith came. All that had been promised, prophesied and pictured was realized in Christ. He is the substance of all that was hoped for, the evidence of the unseen, the Word made flesh.

What is "the world"? It hated Jesus. Sinners didn't hate Jesus, they loved Him.
Religion hated Jesus.

All of the Old Testament promises, pictures and prophecies were fulfilled in Christ! Reading the Bible right!
In 1 Cor 9, Paul describes how to win this race we're in! To Jews, he became a Jew to win Jews. To the weak, he became weak to win the weak! What was he winning? Heaven? No. People!
God is first and foremost a Father! But He's not like our earthly fathers. He's the Father of spirits - better, more generous and more committed to our good than our earthly parents could ever be.
There are only 2 kinds of righteousness described in the Bible - self-righteousness, which is earned on the basis of our success at keeping religious rules, and the righteousness of God, given to us as a gift on the basis of faith.
Don't be ashamed of the Good News. Don't be afraid of it. Don't apologize for it. Don't try to weaken or water it down. It is the power of God to save everyone who believes it!
Religion wants church to be a hospital, a sterile, germ-free environment.
He wants church to be a garden, a fertile, life-giving environment.
Your weakness, ungodliness, foolishness and sin are no obstacles to grace.
Are people roughing you up?
Are you dealing with money trouble?
Are you walking through the valley of the shadow of death?
Hunger, distress, affliction or some other storm of life?
Why is this happening?
Who is doing this to you?
You can have peace!
Will there be many saved or few? Why do we tend to exclude people who don't see things the way we do? Jesus was a gatherer, not a scatterer. We need to open our hearts to people with diverse views, diverse ministries and diverse methods.
Jesus is the Truth to us about God and the Truth to God about us. Like any good witness, let's speak the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth, so help us God! He is our testimony!
In Part 9, the final installment of the Understanding the New Covenant series, we discuss the New and Living Way that Jesus opened for us by His blood! Also, we discuss the only sin that can keep you out of life.
In Part 8 of this series on the New Covenant, we look at the perfect sacrifice of Jesus and how superior it is to the old covenant sacrifices. His perfect sacrifice (a) makes us perfect, (b) cleanses us once for all and (c) removes our consciousness of sins
In Part 7 of this series on the New Covenant, we look at God's promise to NEVER remember our sins again! God stopped counting your sins at the cross. The mercy He showed at the cross by counting our sins and laying on Jesus the iniquity of us all, has gained us access into this New Covenant and removed every obstacle to all that God has always wanted to provide for us!
In Part 6 of this series on the New Covenant, we consider what it means to be the children of God. We have been born of God.
In Part 5 of our series on the New Covenant, we take a look at the laws the Spirit is writing on our hearts and minds. Is the Spirit writing the ministry of death and condemnation on our hearts or the ministry of life and righteousness? Jesus said the Father didn't send Him to condemn or destroy men's lives but to save and minister abundant life. There, quite simply, is no condemnation in Christ. He is writing the law of the Spirit of life in Christ on our hearts!
In Part 4 of this serious on the New Covenant, we see that our Covenant with God was enacted on precious and magnificent promises! In Christ we find that ALL of these magnificent promises are "YES". Faith in Christ accesses the "YES" of God to all His promises. Christ perfectly satisfied all the demands of righteousness. He perfectly fulfilled the Law. He perfectly satisfied every condition of every promise and set His perfect performance to our account. We enjoy His work! Christ is our Promised Land of rest, the place where all of God's promises are fulfilled. And we enter our Promised Land of rest in Christ by faith! Our faith finds us seated at rest with Christ!
In Part 3 of this series on the New Covenant, we learn about our New Covenant High Priest and a mysterious Bible character named Melchizedek. Who in the world is this guy? What does Mel have to do with our New Covenant? Jesus' priesthood was foreshadowed by Mel in Genesis 14. It's a priesthood of blessing, communion, peace and rest.
In Part 2 of this series on the New Covenant, we look at the differences between the Old Covenant and the New. Hebrews 8:9 says the new covenant is "not like" the old covenant. How different is it? It's as different as life and death, righteousness and condemnation, blessing and cursing. The New is so much better than the Old, it has made the Old obsolete.
In Part 1 of this series on the New Covenant, I address several key issues: Are new covenant believers carrying our crosses to the place of death? Or have we already been crucified with Christ and now sit at rest with Him? Have we passed out of death and into life? Or are we still dying or are we ALIVE?
Is God stingy or reluctant? Do we have to pressure Him by getting a prayer mob together to force Him into acting? Do we need to go on a spiritual hunger strike to force Him to help or heal? Or is He simply a good, willing, generous and kind Father? What does our approach to prayer say about what we BELIEVE about Him?
Do believers have to tolerate weekly beatings from the pulpit? Do our spiritual lives have to consist of unpleasant religious chores? How can we unload the heavy burden of shame, guilt and obligation? How can we rescue ourselves and our families from eternal insecurity and the low-grade fever of condemnation church-life can bring?
In this episode we examine several questions surrounding sin and forgiveness: What is sin? What did the cross do to my sin? Do believers have to confess their sins daily or every time they sin to stay saved? Do I have to apologize each time I sin to get God to forgive me? Do I have to forgive others to be forgiven?
Is tithing required of new covenant believers? In this episode we consider how new covenant giving operates. You may find out that your tithe has already been paid.
Faith, hope and love remain. Faith is the substance of things HOPED for. If you need a strong word of encouragement, listen to this word on HOPE. It will raise your expectation of good.

In Galatians 4, Paul answers the question: "Who's yo momma?" He looks at Abraham's 2 wives as a picture of 2 covenants. He answers the question of whether we need a "balance" of old covenant law and new covenant grace to succeed as Christians.
What is the meaning of life?
Why are we here?
We often struggle to find meaning and purpose in our lives. Church culture can leave us always looking forward to some mystery purpose that we are never really sure of and cause us to miss our purpose right now. But you can know God's design for you and confidently walk in His perfect will every day.
This is straight talk (explicit) about sex and sexual boundaries. God designed sex and wired humans to want to engage in sexual activity. He wants our sex lives to as healthy, fun and fruitful as possible.
Our outer man is decaying. At the end of our days, our bodies will be sown in weakness, dishonor and corruption. Until then, we groan, waiting for the hope of our salvation, our adoption, the redemption of our bodies, the resurrection to our new and glorified immortal human bodies. Until then, we war against the desires of our flesh by reckoning the truth of our death to sin and new life in Christ. We are experiencing the first-fruits of the Spirit giving life to our spirit and producing in us the fruit of self-control.
The Inner Court in the Tabernacle of Moses needed fresh bread daily, fresh oil and fresh fire for the incense. Our minds need to be renewed with daily bread, filled with His Spirit and focused on the sacrifice of Jesus to fuel our worship.
Moses built God a 3 room house. It had a Holiest Place, an Inner Court and an Outer Court. God moved out of that house and moved into you. You are a 3 room house. You have an innermost being (your spirit), an inner man (your soul) and and outer man (your flesh). Understanding your spirit, soul and body will help you understand yourself, your struggles and how to see victory in your experience.
What is new covenant obedience?
What are His commandments to us?
Old covenant commands were chiseled on stone and brought sin and death.
His new covenant commands are written on our hearts and minds and bring life and peace.
Believing the Good News is new covenant obedience and provides us with access into all that Christ died to bring - the kingdom of God!
Jesus paid the price so that we could experience all that God has for us for free. We can't buy the gift of God with money. We can't create an obligation on the part of God to catch us by casting ourselves off the temple.
Under the old covenant, God was hidden in thick darkness and no one had really seen or known Him. Jesus took on a body to show us the Father. From now on, we've seen and know Him in the life of Jesus.
In redemption God has cancelled our debt, not created one. Salvation is free. All that we do for God is Him working through us, His grace working through, His Spirit producing the fruit of His life in us. How can we repay Him when apart from what He does in us, we can do nothing? Abandon the mindset that we owe God for salvation. It is His pleasure to save us and freely give us all things in Christ!
We have the power to change our world! We have the Message that has the power to save. We have the Spirit producing the life of God inside us so we can shine His light and let the world see God and glorify Him!
Do you ever feel like you need to do something in order to get God to do something for you? That you need to give money to get God to provide for you? That God won't bless or provide for you if you are engaging in certain religious activities? All that God does for us, He does for free! We can't buy or earn God's blessings or favor or righteousness. Jesus paid the price for us!
Living faith expresses itself. It inhales what God is saving and supplying and it exhales what God says and supplies. This podcast will help us understand what the Bible means when it say faith without works is dead. James used 2 people as examples - Abraham and Rahab. Abraham lived 430 before the Law was given and Rahab was a non-Jew. Abraham expressed his faith by being willing to kill his son and Rahab by lying to protect the Jewish spies (killing and lying are violations of the 10 commandments).
The Spirit of God is writing a new set of commandments on our hearts. He is writing the law of faith, the law of the Spirit of life, the law of liberty and the law of love. This is the changed life and fruit the Spirit is producing in us. He is producing the fearless life and love of God in us!
In Galatians 2, Paul had to get in Peter's face for backing off of the truth of the Gospel. Yes, even an Apostle can be drawn away or scared away from the simplicity and truth of the Good News!
What kind of life pleases God? How do we "live" right? How do we avoid being wolves in sheep's clothing? Who are the "brood of vipers"? Paul answered all of these questions in one phrase: The righteous man lives by faith.
The process of changing our minds involves being quick to hear and receiving with humility the implanted word. This is how we achieve the righteousness of God.
Renewing our minds to the truth of what Christ accomplished on the cross will transform our lives. A mind that is captivated by His obedience wins the war! Eyes that are fixed produce a life that can lay aside every sin. When our focus in on Christ's finished work of redemption - the death of our old man and the birth of our new man - we see His life, His victory and His power born in us.
The word "Repent" is translated from the Greek word "metanoia" which means to change the way you think. God gives us truth to dispel lies. He gives us Good News to dispel bad news. He gives us the message we need to hear to change the way we think.
We are the body of Christ glorified. When He was made alive, we were made alive. When He was raised, we were raised and when He was seated at rest, we were seated with Him. He sits at rest above all authority and power and so do we!
Jesus took a body and died away our sin, the curse on our sin and the legalistic system that opposed us, accused us and condemned us.
In this final episode of my "Understanding Grace" series, I discuss 10 misconceptions about grace. It's not "grace but" or "grace and", it's GRACE! We need to remove the misconceptions about grace that make people shy away from what Paul called "the Gospel of grace".
What does it mean to fall from grace? Paul said when we rely on the works of the law as our means of righteousness and blessing, we've fallen from grace.
Romans 6:14 says sin will not be our master because we are not under Law, but under grace. Understanding the difference between Law and grace can make the difference between sin mastering you and you mastering sin.
Jesus is making all things new. As believers, we must always be willing to reconsider to repent or change the way we think.
How focused on sin should Christians be? The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil vs. the Tree of Life.
1 Cor. 15:22 says that "in Adam" all die and "in Christ" shall all be made alive. Our faith moves us out of the flesh and into the Spirit.
God has freely given us all things in Christ (Rom. 8:32).
How do we access all of these benefits?
How do we see the fruit of His Spirit in us manifest in our lives?
Romans 5:17 says receiving the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness is how we reign in life! If you reign, then your sin doesn't reign, your situations don't reign and your sickness doesn't reign.
